Could've been incredibly fun and free-form, but the developers sorely lack any optimization knowledge. The game is finished, yet when you get to any measure of what you would consider "sort of large" airport, your game will stutter, freeze and lag to hell and back. It's not a spec issue, it's a game engine/optimization issue. (For reference, my specs are: i9-12900k 3.2 GHz, 64 GB RAM, RTX 4080, by no means low or mid-tier).

The game is not graphically demanding, so this type of lag is entirely in the AI agent system, pathfinding, garbage collection, and database structure per passenger. Sucks as it could have been a great simulator but, as is, unless you are content with a small airport, I would not recommend it.

The game is supposedly practically finished by this point, its core game is pretty solid and i can say the game is playable to the end. however, it still lacks some quality of life you'd want in a building game. its unfortunate to see this game not receive more updates.

I've pretty much played every single airport sim that existed in the world. This is my Roman Empire.

Sadly this genre is a big victim of abandoned attempts or quick cash grabs and there are very few airport sims that I would consider a proper game, let alone a good one.

Out of them all, Airport CEO is easily the one I've gotten the most time out of. The fact that there's plenty of Steam Workshop stuff to tailor the game to your tastes is even better.

It's not perfect, but I'd say it's the best one out there by far.

The art style is clean and minimalistic, perfect for a simulation game. The sound design adds to the immersion, with airport chatter, boarding calls, and the occasional alarming beeping noise that makes you wonder what just went wrong.

⚖️ Final Verdict: 8/10 – Delayed But Worth the Wait

Airport CEO is a must-play for fans of deep management sims. It’s engaging, rewarding, and just the right amount of stressful. If you love tweaking systems, optimizing logistics, and watching tiny passengers get mad at you, this game will keep you hooked for hours. Just be prepared for the moment when you realize you’ve designed an airport with zero bathrooms.

Although staff and employee pathfinding needs a rework, the gameplay is amazing!

The sheer number of bugs that exist in this game, STILL, in 2025, the lack of any decent tutorials that cover basic fundamentals, the sheer incompetence of the devs in almost everything here, this game is a nightmare to play when you have everything right and then have to think if its your fault or that of a bug in the game. Nobody should have to pay for this medicority.

This game can be a bit complex at first, but once you get the hang of it, it is SUPER fun. The economy and contract signing is all very realistic, and I really like the game. Highly recommended buy!

Its is a realy good game. worth it.

Airport CEO is in my eyes the current leader when it comes to airport management games, with great indepth systems, immersive HUD artstyle that makes you actually feel like the CEO of an airport. You can outsource tasks to other executive officers, you can micromanage your employees, you have to make sure all resources needed to keep it running are there, and the airport can get affected by outside events or emergencies. An all round amazing game within the management genre.

i really like the game itself, its an awesome simulation game and it really does make you feel like a proper airport CEO! i will definitely recommend this game to others!

It's a city builder in an airport setting. I like the Contracts feature, I feel like that adds an element to the game that you don't get in a lot of other building games like this. Some of the features, like assigning and managing staff in terminals, is a little clunky. Staff rotations are a little opaque, and it's difficult to tell sometimes why I don't have enough staff for a task that needs doing. The game punishes you for trying to go too big too soon, and has good pacing built in. Financial tracking is excellent. Build times aren't immediate, but if you have your construction contractors setup correctly, it isn't forever, either, which I think adds to good pacing. I've got two terminals with about 100 flights/day and still about half of my income is coming from parking fees. Feels like a real airport to me.

I want to like this game as much as i like SimAirport and others but its impossible...

Notifications are random, a plenty and so much hidden you forget they are there and they can tell you important information like why something doesn't work... but you will never notice them. You know what you will notice? Useless mails with daily reports that you can't turn off.

Expanding the airport? Would be shame if auto planner would suddenly start planning turned off gates and allow passengers into unfinished terminal... How you can solve it? By turning gate off again, in effect cancelling all automatically scheduled flights and getting gigantic hit on reputation with the airlines.

How about not using auto planner? Good luck! All planes will land 2-4 times and then need to be placed in schedule again. Plane by plane, day by day, for 7 days of the week, 3h slot by 3h slot... Just impossible as soon as you hit more than 5 operational gates.

Speaking about... This game needs so many quality of life updates... You want to cancel one of the airlines for whatever reason? Cancel each plane one by one for every single day of the week by hand and only then you can remove it... Oh you can't?! Game is bugged? Tough luck! Restart and hope it will make game re-think how many slots the airline is actually using...


Honestly... this is as good of a game as Ryanair is of an airline...

Game was too advanced for my liking. As someone who does not know much about airport technology specifically and was looking for more of a simplistic builder game I found the tutorial to be very confusing. Maybe if I understood more about airports or the tutorial was more in depth I would've felt differently about this game, but as I was proceeding through the tutorial I found the game overstimulating and confusing. It was quite difficult for me to engage in.

This is a hard one. On paper the bones of this game are truly excellent and it is well built largely well balanced and strangely addictive.

However, like so many games now this is a game that never finished being developed, there are strange bugs, annoying path-finding issues and other niggles - it is unlikely that this game will ever get finished and this is the greatest let down as it could be a truly excellent franchise and game - if only they finished it.
