Update 2 for Asteroids Millennium has arrived! It includes full screen support and a few other minor fixes. Here is a complete list:
- added full screen support
- made minor improvements to some graphical effects
- addressed some bugs that may cause graphical glitches on some systems
- other minor bugfixes

Update 1 for Asteroids Millennium has arrived! It includes full controller support and a few other features by request. Here is a complete list:
- added full controller support for Windows and Linux---this has been successfully tested with the Logitech F710, XBox 360, Playstation DS4, and Logitech Extreme 3D controllers
- added slight gradual acceleration when turning the ship with keyboard controls for greater accuracy
- player can now either hold or repeatedly press the fire button to shoot
- added 5 new backdrops
- addressed some other miscellaneous issues

My asteroids game is crashing please! Help with this please?
I'm still trying to reach a mountain sized score of at least 35000 points! I haven't got there yet! This game is haaaaard! Got any way to make a difficulty setting at startup?
If you like the original, you'll get addicted to this new version.
Why can't you play classic? WTF??? Too difficult basic. Too difficult to figure how to start and to do classic. Also, how you can keep spawning over the asteroids. WTF?
Nice weapons and cool asteroid sound affects. Level 15 is the hardest for me.
An excellent and really fun Asteroids like arcade action game is only scarred by the confusing decision by this developer to use a 4 x 3 resolution over the much more modern 16 x 9 format.
Sadly, the is no way to change this resolution in the options, and choosing "fullscreen" in the options only stretches everything out to fit your monitor. I have NO idea why this developer would have went this route even back in 2017.

I'd also like to see sliders for the sound effects and music in the options.. and outlining the rocks and enemies with a thin line to help the player see them easier would help make this game even better.
Still, I give this game a solid 8 out of 10 score, but this could be a 9 out of 10 or perhaps even higher if the developer changes the resolution to a 16 x 9 format, adds audio sliders, and outlines the rocks and enemies with a thin glowing line to help them be seen easier.

Old school game with a new look! Im def a fan! My only gripe would be unlike the original you can not earn free/extra ships every 10k points. I think every 25k or even 50k would be fair but something is better than nothing. Great job Geoff! I'll be playing this on my twitch streams from time to time.

If you like Asteriods and want a game that is a bit more evolved than Asteroids Deluxe and still has the charm of the classics, you'll like this game. If you balk at games that aren't 4K, then it isn't for you.
Yes the controls can be PitA to set up, but when you do, it will be worth it. I set the rotation using the right stick, thrust with top left trigger and shoot with the top right trigger.
There's a classic mode, I haven't tried.
The game can be on sale for under $3. I've played that many credits in the limited time I've played so far.
It's simple fun for a few minutes a day. That's good enough for me.
My actual recommendation is YES and NO
Pros:
If you're looking for a way to veg out and still get to play then this one is for you
Cool remake of the original asteroids
Option of original mode or modern (advance weapons, shields, etc.)
Nifty backgrounds
Cons:
Some backgrounds are hard to see any objects against
The aim is not true center, rather off to one side making it harder to hit objects
hard to precisely aim at an object even if it is very near by
can't come to a complete stop once you set the ship in motion via rockets, there's always a drift
AND THE WORSE PARTS ARE
can't play offline like other steam games, must be connected to steam and the internet
After 5 or 6 levels it gets so ridiculously hard that you always lose. I'd rather have a much lower difficulty rate, say one added asteroid per level, but it quickly jumps to many asteroids after a few levels then it jumps to the asteroids moving incredibly fast resulting in a screen full so all you can do is watch your collection of lives (ships) get destroyed one after the other.
Though this game is NOT the true Atari classic, this game offers an Asteroids feel and still same style of fun I have come to know through my endless years of Arcadom. The game offers new varients and strategies that its predecessors could only dream of and the leaderboards (which I probably will never be on) are a true and needed upgrade for me. I purchased the game of $7.99 in US dollars and I must say it was fair price for a good game. This is one I recommend for anyone. This game will run on virtually any machine and the replayability is there. Good gaming all! - Dark
This is not my asteroids.
The boost is way over throttled so you get way too fast instantly, the game doesn't support stretched full screen so you have a black box around the whole game, rocks don't split after you hit them once, and you select where you spawn.
The very old school game but given a new look. It is worth purchasing this game. A few good tips for you Space Cadet : (1) Shoot the fast moving asteroids and boulders first as they are hard to be dodged (2) One of the old tips which is shooting the smaller boulders proof to be useful until now (3) Keep shooting while moving regardless of direction you are facing. Remember ammo is unlimited.
After playing for hours, I realize there are some troubles on the game controls Because the screen is rather small, the acceleration and the turning rate is rather abysmal. In the old games, the acceleration per pixel is much lower and the turning rate slightly faster. If possible, a sensitivity settings on both of these controls would give a much better controlling of the ship especially in tight turns.

Yes, this is Asteroids modern version!
You can play the classic version or the modern version of Asteroids Millennium.
The classic version is like the 1979 version, with only one UFO that comes into play amongst the accumulating asteroids. This is all with up to date graphics and sounds that are 'blow you awayish' and quite delightful.
One of the difficulties of classic version is when you shoot a full sized asteroid and it blows into the smaller chunks, the explosions from this prevent you from seeing them right away. Thus fire rapidly if you are uncertain of the locations of shrapnel!
If you're looking to play the old Asteroids but updated, then you have found it!
Looking forward to playing the modern version of this game... will update.

Just played the modern version and you get really cool guns but it is just as hard! Very challenging game!
Update: after the update for auto fire, game is so addicting and a super fun shooter!
Awesome! Fun game with excellent graphics and music. The graphics are sweet and remind me of something from Star Wars. If you are a fan of asteroid games, then this game will not disappoint.
