this is a cool game that has a great building system that i would consider better then planet zoo but the water could use work to allow underwater viewing and dinosaurs like allosaurs and stegosaurus are missing but its still beta though more permian and traissic animals would be cool
Very nice sandbox game with an okay amount of creatures(at the moment) but only a few skins, however very nice with the addition of having variation to the skins, mutations of the skins and size changes between animals. Gives a lot of variation even though it might not seem like it at first.
However, highly recommended having any sort of reference images for what you want to do because going into it blind and trying to build something creative and epic without any idea in beforehand is just not happening

This has potential to be the best dino-zoo simulator we (gamers at large) have ever had, anywhere, ever. It doesn't give you that much direction as you play yet though, so if you're someone who might need that wait for full release. If you know you're gonna buy it though, buy now - support devs.
Out of all the zoo management games i have played This game has by far the most potential. It is already a fun game taking some of the best elements from the zoo tycoon and planet zoo properties.
If they can successfully tackle the challenges that come with their ambition to include aquatic and large flying animals i am certain this game will outshine any other zoo game.
The only weak point about the game in its current state is in my opinion the very heavily (non avian) dinosaur focused roster. While (non avian) dinosaurs are awesome i would very much like to see some more animals belonging to other groups like reptiles and birds in adition to more mammals. The addition of paleozoic animals would also add a lot to the roster in my opinion.
TLDR great game with greater potential the only weaker point being a matter of taste.
Fully what you expect from a planet zoo type game, but this version is more forgiving, easier and in my opinion, more fun.
I cant say i expected alot from this game given that it's still early development, but I was surprised with the mechanics and even more surprised to see the animals/dinosaurs interacting with their enviorment. To be honest, i got this game on a whim because it just seemed fun and planet zoo wasnt on sale, and im pleasantly surprised and happy with my purchase. The only things that could be considered annoying is that the mammoths currently have a glitch where they stand in place until they starve, and also the low dinosaur / animal selection- but other than that, highly recommend For a hot minute I couldn't find a game to spend hours on, and now i have.
Great game with exciting plans for the future, combines really good mechanics from other tycoon games that work really well. Plus the graphics are amazing. It also is set out to accomplish what many other park/zoo builders failed to do, simulate real like animal behavior, like socializing, HERDING and much more. Great work from the devs overall and I hope it gets the merit it deserves.
Fun game. I just love the modular simulation type format of the game. It needs more dinosaurs.
At this stage I can't recommend it, although it will be a 10/10 game once it reaches its full potential. All I'm gonna say is, during my 80 minutes of gameplay (which consisted of completing the playable tutorials) I spent the most time with figuring out the biome section for the raptor. A list of what happened:
- biome need is out of the desirable amount by a hair's breadth - raptor dislikes grassland. Fair enough, there is an option to delete grassland objects. Nothing gets deleted.
- is there even anything connected to grassland here? No. Ok I'll just delete every plant and restart the process - terrain is already painted desert so it can't be it. Biome need jumps to 0% (which it was supposed to do).
- I put down a bunch of cacti and desert plants. Biome need jumps back to "animal hates grassland".
- ok I'll try to use the delete grassland stuff tool again, maybe I didn't notice a smaller plant or something. This time the tool deletes every single plant.
- ok. One more time. I put down a bunch of desert plants again, animal hates grassland. I try the "remove grassland" tool again, this time the desert plants don't get deleted, but something must have, because biome is suddenly perfect.
- I get an achievement for having a good enclosure. 17% of players have this achievement even though it should be the bare minimum - it wouldn't even be difficult without whatever just happened. This alone should be enough indication of the current state of the game.
Don't get me wrong though. I'll give the game another chance because it's exactly what I was looking for. I love the direction the game is going too, and I was expecting bugs, but I definitely wasn't expecting something like this right in the middle of the tutorial, in my first ~40 minutes, because the rest was trying to figure out the biome thing.
So if I were you I'd wait for a few more updates, not necessarily with buying the game (support and all) but definitely before playing it.
I got this game a few years ago, since I wanted to play an accurate dinosaur zoo game. It might still be in early access, but it's well worth the price.
The building system is fun, and it will be what you spend the most time doing. It took me a bit to figure out how to make a custom fence with a window, and not let the velociraptors just walk right out of the paddock. The Stone Age and Rustic themes are some of the funnest sets to play with imo.
The animals are great, though a few are interesting choices, and they don't just have the most famous ones, there's some less well known animals as well. Most of them have more than one skin, and there's sexual dimorphism. They don't all look the same, since the colors are slightly different for each animal, along with the sizes, and there's a chance that they'll melanistic or albino/leucistic. They've got Panthera atrox, which is not something most people will have heard of, most ice age felines that get all of the attention are the cave lions, and saber toothed cats. They've even got Irish Elk. Some of the skins aren't the best. The T-rex has a partially feathered skin, which I just pretend is a Yutyrannus, since they also have some variation in size. The Elasmotherium has two different skins, one with a horn and one without, so I just use the one without a horn as females.
The Paraceratherium and Juxia are the least interesting animals in the game, purely to me since I got it because it's an accurate dinosaur zoo game. Any good zoo games are very rare as it is, and this one is the best modern zoo game there is.
It also has voice acting by Nigel Marvin, which is a nice surprise for anyone that grew up watching Prehistoric Park, Walking With Dinosaurs specials, or Sea Monsters.
Incredible art direction, animals are a pleasure to look at. Gameplay loop still a work in progress, but highly promising. Modular building system is highly intuitive and flexible, promotes creativity with a less punishing learning curve than usual for the genre.
Game still in early access and independently developed, but shows it being a labor of love; shows plenty of promise, and the development team is highly transparent about progress. Highly recommended, even if an investment for a deeper experience in the near future.
Great park builder that once you get the handle on the modular building system really lets your creativity shine, if you’ve got a creative building itch and a passion for zoos - would highly recommend. It’s not a Jurassic Park game, though you can certainly recreate it here with enough time or using workshop assets. I think by aiming to be a more realistic/grounded take on a paleo zoo it stands on its own.
Clearly a lot of love and passion has gone into the animal designs and gameplay loop, and the systems are progressing - with things like ontogeny/illness coming soon.
Go forth and make the best paleo zoo you can.
I think for 30$ this game is a steal. Yes, it's early access and still missing a lot, but I rarely see early access games with such a solid foundation. Every detail is well thought out. Building may seem complex to a beginner, but once you get the hang of it its a breeze.
Mostly lacking in animal dynamics as of this review, but that seems to be the focus of the next update(s) and I look forward to seeing what they have in store :)

I haven't played much yet, but so far it has been fun, dinosaurs are great, all looks accurate, very customizable, but the saving system is a disappointment, as I just spent the last hour working on an exhibit, only for it to send me back to when I only had one dinosaur when I came back.
I miss my velociraptor :(
still fun though, hopefully the saving system will get updates.
The most realistic depictions of dinosaurs I've come across in video games. I also love that Nigel Marven is involved in this, love his dinosaur documentaries.
It's disappointing that a game in development for so many years doesn't have any kind of object avoidance. I decided to finally buy it because I heard babies are finally coming this year and I was immediately turned off when I saw my people walking straight through the decor I had placed. Even ZT2 had object avoidance. Regardless I still wanted to see the super realistic dinos/animals the game has and was again disappointed when I saw how the smilodon walked. It looks good otherwise but the back legs basically don't move. Idk the game is really lacking in development and "life" and I'm a little shocked to see the state it's in currently. I do hope they finish it because I would love another dino game but I've kinda lost hope in this one.

Very much like Planet Zoo, if you think it you can build it. Not a full game release yet, but they update it frequently and I'm sure it will be on par with PZ or JWE once it's all done. Pretty fun. Good dinosaur/prehistoric creatures accuracy compared to JWE series (I just don't like the JP/JW style "fantasy" dinos)

A nice, chill game to relax with. If you're like me and like paleoaccurate dinosaurs I think you'll enjoy the different kinds of dinos you can display, and you can make some gorgeous enclosures for them.
The park management is pretty simple but has some depth to it, the tutorials and search functions in the UI are excellent: if you need a specific building you can search for it. If you want a tutorial for a specific thing, you can find one. No part of the learning curve is forced on you but it's all there if you want it.
As of the moment writing this there's no dramatic escape risk where dinos roam around eating everyone in sight or tornadoes wrecking structures etc. This is a relaxing, slow burn game for when you want to wind down, make some beautiful scenery and watch animals enjoy the life you built for them.
I love this game! It's great, nine out of ten. I do have one issue that I can't seem to find out if it's the game or my pc. It crashes at random, sometimes when I save it does other times it doesn't. And after a certain amount of time it crashes too. The longest I've been able to play the game is thirty minutes. I've looked it up online and apparently a lot of people are having the same issue but I couldn't find a solution. I just don't know what to do.
I like it, get's better along as the development goes on. But one thing I would like to be addressed is starting locations. Give us optionally a believable entry location for the visitors. Normally it would be maybe a town? If a town, make it just scenery not interactable with. Another location, maybe a big island? A bridge across which visitors arrive from.
Best recommended if you want something like JWE2 but actually good.
Or Planet Zoo but with more game alongside the sandbox.
Plus Dinos R cool.
love the attention to detail, customisability and the time gone into not only scientific accuracy but variety of species within genera!
I just bought it and I already love this game, however I really can not recommend it in this state.
First, the good.
I started playing today and immediately lost myself in the chill vibes and gorgeous graphics.
The animal design is just phenomenal, the music is great and the ability to create whatever you want is extraordinary.
But the Bad.
After two hours I had been seeing that the game was autosaving, but I figured I should do a manual save. The game would not allow this. I kept getting an error "Could not create save - please try again later". So I kept designing an exhibit and about an hour later I was able to save.
I kept playing for a few more hours, routinely saving with no issues. Then the game crashed.
I reloaded and clicked "Continue", what loaded was a mostly empty map with random items left scattered around. I tried reloading another save and found that all my saves had been deleted, expect that very first one.
Also the ugly.
I've played a ton of Planet Zoo which this game was clearly inspired by. Which is mostly good, but just like Planet Zoo, the building, pathing and terrain mechanics are finicky and unintuitive. The tutorials are not very helpful so within the first hour I was on youtube.
Overall, I LOVE this game as a concept. It just apparently needs a ton of work.
I will update my review once I know I can at least save/reload my game without issue.
Missing a lot, dinos and different skins, but its got a lot of potential, really great either way, completely recomend and hope it grows more! A solid 8/10 imo (I've only played creative tho)
I love this game as soon as i see the trailer, but when i bought and download it myself, Not so much, i know its still in early access so just know what you're getting into, i barely spend less than 2 hours in this game but my experience so far as the tutorial is NOT GOOD,
1. Tutorial is not intuitive, and somehow buggy even in the most basic things, i stuck at painting the biome for my Dinosaurs, so my DInosaurs don't like Grass as much as other terrain like Rock, etc. so i painted rock and other terrain too but keeping the grass as minimally as possible , long story short i keep painting because i cant seem to get my Dinosaurs likes their exhibit, there's no more grass in the exhibit but there's still grass in the Dino panel, hence why they're unhappy and i CANNOT continue my tutorial because their comfort is still low thanks to the terrain paint bug.
2. After my first encounter terrain paint bug, i save the game and quit, however when i play the same file on the next day, everything in the park disappear including the gate and the prebuilt facilities, trees, etc except the Dino itself and the fence.
3. It's confusing, i wanted to make a bridge over a river/ lake but there doesnt seem a way to do that directly with the Path tool (after one youtube search. turns out you need to place module individually to make bridge, which is kinda dumb because i used to the Planet Zoo mechanics and thought it will be similar, but its not)
4. More like suggestion, please add tutorial scenario like Planet Zoo has, Planet Zoo is just a gold standard for animal-tycoon simulation right now. because as of now a new player like me is confused as heck.
5. The UI seems to small for me, i hope you can enlarge the UI more for more screen (i know you can , but it doesnt work for my screen)
I think i will stop playing for now , until the game is fully released, which is a bummer because i look forward to this game

I personally think this game is very good, its alot like jurassic world evolution 2 but with acurrate looks, and it has planet zoo like traits, i would rate it 8.6/10 on favorite scale, i hope this made you want to play the game
When I first got this game I was disappointed by the state it was in. I had waited several years to get it so it would be more polished but the game was still in a beta state. I keep finding myself coming back, however, because of the animal models. I can tell they put a lot of effort into making each species scientifically accurate but also unique, and I love watching them wonder around the exhibits I make.
They are releasing updates and bug fixes regularly, and often add new animals. In my opinion, the only thing they'd have to do is make it so that the people stop and watch the animals instead of walking all the time, and I would be very happy with it.
So, anyone here remember prehistoric park?. that old dino doc with nigel marvin back in the day? if you do well its basically if that series got its own video game minus the time travel so if you loved it you'll like this too cuz guess what. The og himself nigel Marvin is actually featured here. Nice touch from the devs.
Now for the actuall review. This is still an early access title as of writing this so do take it with a pinch of salt, end produkt could differ and all that but all things considered. I think its a nice, niche game for genuine zoo game enjoyers, i see elements of gameplay pulled from other iconic zoo game titles like the customizability and exhibit building of planet zoo, but with a touch of zoo tycoon to simply things for the better in my opinion. The game strikes a decent enough balance of simplicity and realism, enough to please any paleo enthusiast given the realistic designs of the creatures, but also simplified gameplay to make it accessible for anyone who just wants to get in, make a zoo and enjoy.
Thats not to say the game is simplistic, it is on a surface level but i think it has advanced building elements akin to those in planet coaster and planet zoo for those of you who really want to design your own buildings and other park stuff, i dunno i can't speak to much for this aspect since i don't really bother with customization much, but its there for those with broader architectural ambitions than the defaults yes. There is the community workshop so you can upload or download creations from there to add to your park.
Do note this is not like jurassic world evolution , its meant to provide a more relaxed comfy experience so don't expect any of those pulse pounding dino breakouts in the jwe series, you go there for the adrenaline and challange you come here for the chill vibes dig?
Now, early access games do.. have a reputation but i personally feel completely confident and sure that the devs will fully deliver in time. This has in my eyes the trademarks of a labour of love and a passion project.

I saw the reviews for this game and I thought to myself that since it's on sale that I would go ahead and get it to play. I couldn't figure it out sadly but it's ok. I know that it's an early access game so I'll just wait until next year too see where it's at from a standpoint of what it is right now. Sadly I had to ask for a refund for it but I will still be watching this game closely to see how it gets developed.
For those of you that like this game I am glad that you was able to enjoy it and figure it out. I hope that you enjoy this game and I would love to see all of your creations if there's a way to see them. But overall, this game isn't for me.
Garbage. It runs perfectly fun when you just load in, but every dinosaur you place the fps goes down. Not recommended for gaming laptops, does not run.
Prehistoric Kingdom brings back childhood memories of waiting every week for a new episode Prehistoric Park to come to Animal Planet. Very well made and the animal designs are gorgeous while still being scientifically accurate.

I love this game. My favorite show when I was a kid was Prehistoric Park. It introduced me to many different kinds of prehistoric animals. In fact, I thought that such a place really existed. I was only 7 years old and in the first grade of elementary school at the time. I tried not to miss the show that aired on TV at 8 pm. But when I saw that my dream of the team had become a video game, I was very happy. Yes, I love this game. I sincerely thank the team that created the game.
I really want to recommend this game, I bought it a long time ago and it's come a long way from it's early access release, but it feels like the developers don't have priorities in order.
This being said, the game has been in early access for two years now. I genuinely do see some awesome potential in the future, but the challenge mode is unplayable, there are a lot of glitches that are really too big to ignore and experience-ruining. Seeing more creatures get added is nice and all but I certainly think there are bigger fish to fry in regards to making this game really be more than a sandbox.
For those seeking just a sandbox experience, I recommend turning off a couple settings and I am sure you will create something awesome. The building is intimidating but overall super flexible and the environment tools are pretty solid! I did encounter bugs while trying to play, being unable to delete things or manage things. The animals are really cool to watch and look at, genuinely some of best paleo-reconstructions I've ever seen in gaming.
TLDR: Great for those looking for a sandbox! Game needs to prioritize fixing game-breaking bugs and challenge mode.
Has alot of Potential.Every update has been free and good quality. Its like Jurassic World Evolution and Planet Zoo had a baby. But its better then Jwe and more like Pz but with dinosaurs. Has Palo accurate dinosaurs plus skins for people that like them more jurassic park style. The Dinosaurs and Mammals have variety so each one looks different then the last. There is actually going to be breeding and babies!
While it may still be in Early Access, Prehistoric Kingdom is a good game for those with a very active imagination. If you like the depth of Planet Zoo or Planet Coaster and were disappointed by the lack of it in the Jurassic World Evolution series then I'd highly recommend this game for you.
This game takes a moment to learn, but the second you get the hang of all the features it's game on. It's incredibly fun and easy to get sucked into, especially with how much free range there is to make the park custom.

the game is amazing and fun but tedious if you want a cool park only thing I wish is for the devs to focas a bit more more on dinosaurs, exibit dinos, pterosaurus, marine species, and permian species
In a genre blighted by hideous emaciated movie monsters masquerading as dinosaurs, Prehistoric Kingdom is a breath of fresh air.
The animals in this game are treated as just that - animals. They don't stomp around screaming like maniacs and trying to murder everything in sight for no reason. They just wander about exploring their exhibits, lay down for a nap, grab a snack, head over to the pond for a drink, maybe have a swim while they're over there... Just like real animals.
You can easily find yourself immersed in the world, feeling like you could reach out your hand and pet that big fluffy Russian Unicorn. Look how fluffy he is. Mother of God, is he fluffy.
There's something meditative about building a huge, beautiful enclosure for your animals, setting them loose in it and and watching them go about their day as serene music plays. None of the Zoo Tycoon-style "DA-DOO! American Mastodon 48 is not happy. DA-DOO! Guests can't find donation boxes! DA-DOO! Keeper Poindexter can't reach the meat!"
Here it's just... peace and quiet. You and your animals. No alerts. No screaming. No rules. Just right. Outback Steakhouse.
Of course, the game isn't quite finished yet. There are many more animals to be added and features to be implemented. Despite having just jumped on the hype train, I'm excited. If I'd had this game when I was younger, I would have farted so hard.

I bought this back in June 22, and I really have not invested time into this game. I enjoy the look of the dinosaurs, but it does not feel like a game that is geared toward me. The last time I played this it seemed the game focus was making buildings rather than enclosures. The sheer amount of assets make this feel like a 3d modeling program with a game in the background.
I would need to spend hours making singular buildings out of assets and then saving those as a single asset so that the game doesn't get bogged down from the amount of assets open in the game session. The workshop is a save on this front but that is built on the work of other players taking that time, and unfortunately that is a crutch the development team relies on. These are issues in Planet Coaster and Zoo as well, but those are far more developed on their respective game play side.
When I first saw this game two years ago, I was thrilled that there would be a dinosaur park simulator, however after periodically checking in over these years I feel the developers focused too much on the more boring portion of a Zoo. I don't go to my local zoo so that I can marvel at the shops or facilities, even when they have nice design. I am there to see the animals interact and live. I believe they took too much inspiration from Planet Coaster and Planet Zoo, and inadvertently created a slower developed and one sided version of those games.
I want to love this game, Zoo Tycoon 1 & 2, JPOG, and JW Evolution 1 & 2 are games that I have spent many hours playing over my life. These games understood the balance of building the park or zoo with creating the enclosures, and all have various degrees of animal/animal and animal/guest interaction. In a way, the choice to have almost no limitations on what can be created has become the most limiting factor of this game.
So I was really looking forward to this game but... It's stuck on the tutorial. Every 6 months or so I give it another try. I dont want to build a sandbox I want to play the scenarios. But I can't because it's stuck on the tutorial. I think I'll try again in 12 months......
