But it is not only placing, upgrading or selling a tower – in M.A.C.E. TD you can improve your game play with placing mines,
Block walls and electric Fields direct on the path and you can also take control over a tower s direction and target.

Ok Steam states they are still looking into Deck compatibility. I bought it anyway as I play this on my PS5 (Yes old guys still game lol). I thought I would give a heads up to anyone wanting the game but not wanting to 'RISK' not being able to play it on deck.
YES it plays perfect on deck and touch is so much better than a game controller, you can react, place towers and upgrade so much quicker than you can on a console.
Now there are a lot of defense games out in recent months that just are not very good. This is not one of them. This game is actually very challenging (Wish they had a more relaxed mode for when you just don't feel like trying). That said it builds nicely in difficulty and gives you some time (on the earlier maps) to become proficient. It is a really fun game and from what I can see there are 70 maps YES 70, I have unlocked 6 on my deck since yesterday early evening. Although I have gotten that far I think I only did two of the maps with 100% of lives remaining.
Another cool feature is the number of waves increase as you progress to new maps. I think the first map has 10 waves and now on Map 6 their are 15, I imagine they will keep increasing every couple maps.
These waves are what you would call primary, so they feed to your overall score, and it's within these waves that you make money to buy new weapons and upgrades (LOTS of weapons and upgrades available). The cool thing I like is, let's say you complete your 15 waves; it tells you how much money you banked and your score and such. Then you have the option to continue to the next map OR keep playing the map in endless mode that you are on. You will not bank more points, status, or money towards upgrades, but you, of course, still make money within the level so you can keep upgrading the weapons you have places, keep placing additional weapons, and sell guns you have in place so you can build something else. Not only is that fun but you can use this to build strategy so you can reply that level, or any other levels and and do better.
Last comment you can reply any of the levels you have played as much as you want and you still earn upgrade cash so if you are having trouble on say, level 6 (lol) and you need more money so you can go buy better guns to help with said level you just reply levels you know you can get through.
In closing, it is GREAT on Deck, has no issues at all, can see and control everything perfectly, and makes for a super fun mobile game.
Adicting simple tower defense
70 levels tower defence game. Not as good as defence grid, but still ok.
It is a hard grind after the first ten levels.
The game's replay ability is utterly amazing. xo
An hour and a half in, and I would say it is a passable, lackluster TD game. Everything seems to work, but there is nothing exciting or innovative here.
Quite often a bland offering like this feels like a poorly put together project of love, this feels more like an uninspired money grab.
A lot of things could have made it better without much thought.
For example, there is zero fluff. Considering that it takes almost zero effort to add a story, and an index, and it adds so much to a game, I never understand this lack.
The units are all generic, there are no flying units, no shields, nothing that makes any of the enemies unique or interesting.
There are strategic weapons, which I like in a TD game, but they seem very similar, simply doing some explosive damage on a similar area.
For some strange reason you don't get a set amount each level, but have to buy them, using the same currency you use to buy and improve towers, so once I used the starting few, I have yet to buy another.
It would have been much better to give us 1/level each, and let us purchase upgrades on the starter amount.
It would also have been nice if they did different things.
It seemed very grindy at first but by the time I reached the mid-thirties levels I was getting good money and could upgrade pretty regularly.
I think there might be a flaw in the calculation, as you get 10 coins for every life you still have at the end of the level, but you are also supposed to get (I think) fifty for each boss you defeat, and I only get this amount sometimes, even though there is a boss on every tenth wave.
The controls work well enough, most of the time. It looks pretty, though it is the flat top down view, which I always find rather lackluster. The sounds are okay, though oddly random, the tense music on occasion stopping in the middle of a wave with foes still on the map.
The maps are short and small and uninteresting to far. Some have obstructing terrain, it would have been nice to let up buy a few opportunities to clear the space.
All in all though, it works. For me, it is scratching the TD itch, for all it's blah, there is no reason to give it a thumbs down, especially as it cost me less than two bucks.
ADDENDUM: Almost twenty hours in, just finished level 32, still enjoying myself. That is pretty good.
ADDENDUM: 29 hours, start to finish. The fact that I finished is good, don't often do that. Never got really interesting, maps stayed bland and no real thought was ever needed to win, but there was enough going on that if you stopped paying attention something could get by you.
Simple. Old school TD game. It's a filler while you wait for another game to finish installing or waiting for teams to start a different game you are playing. Filler = in-between a game.
Achievement hunt is easy but it gets monotonous.
Enjoy it for what it is and don't get all worked over it.
Remember, to remember, it is a filler game. Remember that, oh remember that and you'll forget it soon enough.
Good tower game. At level 22 now and it appears it's going to be about the same rest of the way. Maxed out turrets and maxed out rockets pretty much gets you an efficient win every level. Just a simple good ole fashioned mindless time sucker.
I think you have to bear in mind the very low cost of this game and from that point of view it served it's purpose to give many hours of play time.
BUT, as has been said there is a flaw in the playability - if spend a bit of time with the game you will find that a bunch of one particular tower will pretty well get you through every level.
IF, you don't immediately work this out then the game might be more enjoyable - although there is a real GRIND to build up your towers by repeatedly completing previous levels to gain the funds to do so.
Otherwise a rather bland but stable game - perhaps a V2 with better play testing, graphics and animation?
Glad to have discovered this rather basic, but fun, TD game. There are so many levels offering a variety locales within each map level. Environment graphics are a bit minimalistic but towers are well detailed and SFX is appropriate and satisfying.. Tower builds evolve via shop choices via purchases and the shop also offers a variety of add-ons.
I often play games while listening to podcasts and this particular TD game is perfect for that once past the slight learning curve and after figuring out a bit of a cookie cutter protocol, so, bottom line, it isn't particularly challenging for advanced TD players after a bit of grinding and figuring out a good, strategy. Hint: grinding and building-up offers strong towers fast, but it isn't absolutely necessary overall to gain progression throughout the game.
Considering the low price tag, which is a lot less than even a cup of coffee MACE will satisfy most all TD fans for different reasons and at different times.
The game is fun but very easy. Only a few levels are challenging, as soon you update your towers it becomes a piece of cake and a bit boring. I recommend the game but not at full price, wait for a deal.
The best towerdefence game on steam!!!
A very basic tower defence game with no real nice features I can see.
Neat idea, decent music, but the currency system makes the game unplayable.
but the store poorly designed, feels like the game was made for mobile with watching commericals as the only way to earn, which is clearly stripped out - making 1 bad upgrade selection progress destroying, with no in game reset option!
game breaking problem:
Losing a map also pays no currency
&
Endless mode also DOES NOT pay upgrade currency - meaning a the only way to grind out currency is to play a low map over and over (and over)
Feels like the game was designed for mobile play with the p2p or watching commericals for currency striped right now.
This one is a hard pass
Fun and addictive, challenging game.
You would think with 21 hours played and all achievements won i'd recommend this game but you would be wrong.
Honestly it's 21 hours i[ll never get back, the levels are bland, the graphics basic, sound is awful and once you master the one simple tactic when starting a level it just becomes a grind to the end.
There's plenty better TD games out there.....2.5/10
When I found this game on my phone, I instantly fell in love with it. Then I purchased the game for my tablet, then a few years passed and found it on steam! I was so excited! One of my favorite apps for my phone was on my PC. Absolutely recommend this Tower Defense game if TD games are what you play!
5/5
It's hard to find a reason to complain about a game that's as cheap as this one, that's as long as it isn't a lemon and thankfully this is what it claims to be, A Tower defense game, Yes there's better ones but it's not a terrible game, I'm only 6 hours in and I'm currently being overpowered forcing me to farm some extra money out of the lower levels & then pick out upgrades so I can move on so there is a level of thought required. At the moment I'll give this a 5.5 out of 10 so it scrapes in with a thumbs up, That said I'll edit this review at a later date once I've played it some more.
EDIT: It's taken me 23 hours to complete the game, While the difficulty level isn't overly hard you will need to do some levels multiple times to earn money to upgrade your towers, As you get to the point where you've done most of the upgrading the difficulty does become less of a challenge but it conitinues to keep you involved so all in all it's a decent Tower Defence game for the price. I'd give it a 6/10.
Do you know what, for £1.59 (UK) it's about as good as you can expect for the money.
Took 15 hours to complete - I'd say around 75% of that I wasn't even at my computer, or switched to a different window. Once you've got a few decent tower upgrades, the very repetitive gameplay is a breeze. Just set, forget and walk away.
There's no bells, no whistles... just a range of basic, unlockable towers, a couple of upgrades for each and a few bombs you can drop on the field which I don't think I even used. 70 levels of grinding for an easy "Perfect Game."
It works. It's not very exciting... I'd go as far to say it's boring, but for £1.59 (15 hours - so £0.10p an hour!) - who cares?
Game looks and sounds decent enough for a TD, it has a bunch of towers and upgrades, but it is really REALLY dull because how easy it is. There needs to be a rehaul in terms of difficulty for this to be even playable. Make an attempt at balancing waves and towers and then we can talk.
70 levels of this is tragic.
Case in point:
http://i.imgur.com/6ZkfSnC.png Wave 14 -> Wave 45. No towers added, no upgrades added. Surely this is a fluke? yes? Let's try the next map, oh look now there are 50 waves: http://i.imgur.com/Ems8csI.png Build towers up to wave 11. Stare at the screen for 8 minutes doing nothing (at 4x speed non the less!). Same thing map after map.
I edited my erlier review because I thought maybe I was too mean, but playing the game again got the better of me. Seriously what is this?
100% achievement took me 16 hours but that includes time you just let the game run in the background and then forget about it. If you apply yourself I'd estimate 10min per level (x70). But you'll hate every second of it and start to hate yourself to boot.
If you are looking for fun, just avoid. (Or at the very least wait for updates.)
This game is way to minimalistic. No strategy required. You just place towers and hope for the best, if that tower doesn't do the trick.. try another. No enemy description. No tower description. No upgrade description.
You don't even have the option to restart the level..
Anyhow... the game is sooo cheap.. So you get what you paid for. On the other hand.. there are a lot of free to play games (with microtransactions.. sure) that are waaaay above this one...
