Castaway Home Designer

I got this game for less than a dollar, and I have enjoyed it. It's not an amazing game by any means, but I put on some relaxing music and it keeps me entertained for a bit.

No freedom in the game - you have to use what you have, not what you would use to style a nice interior.

This game still feels too much like a mobile app you have to pay for to get anything done.
I don't mind waiting for the lots to produce enough gems or whatever for me to proceed to new parts of the island or buy new lots with, but having to buy furniture over and over again for a price that keeps rising the more you buy of it... no, thank you.
This only allows you to play the game in spurts instead of being able to properly play it for a good amount of time.
Interior Design games can be fun
and while this is quite simple yet adorable, it's not exactly all that fun.
It's not a 'bad' game per se, but it's not an overwhelmingly great game either.
Don't recommend it.
Though, if you have a few coins laying around during a sale, it might still be worth picking up.

I like a lot of the room design games so thought I would give this a try. Finished the objectives for the place and then there was no more info. I found it to be more than a bit disappointing. I'm just glad I got this at a fairly low price.

Has a button on the top right, you think from it's context it's a fishing mini game, but if you click play it actually sends you to a store page for another game from the developer, I think it's really rude to stick that in my face while I'm playing a game I paid for. If it was a F2P game I'd understand.

I loved the Animal crossing games and played the hell out of them.
I'd say this game is a tiny bit like it in the fact you have items to decorate homes, but you never get your own home to decorate nor are there any NPC's to speak or interact with. This game is very simplistic in how it plays. You have furniture and objects to decorate various buildings, you can only find out what contributes to a positive or negative score through trial and error such as put down a blue item and it will list it in positive if that is what the so called owner likes, who you never meet or see. Though some places will have a few likes or dislikes to start with.

I love decorating and enjoy playing the game and when I play, the time goes so fast.

There are flaws such as the music is terribly repetitive and thank god there is an option to turn it off, don't think I can stand the game otherwise.

And I dislike that you can't buy alot of a furniture you like as each time you buy the same furniture the price of it goes up dramatically to the point it costs 10's of millions and can't afford to buy it anymore.

It also takes forever if you want to unlock all items for decorating in the game as you get cards and pearls for completing decorating objectives which you turn over to get decorating items, however it's random what you get and you get heaps of the same items.

I recommend if you like a fun casual game to make the time fly by.
I rate this game 6/10 and enjoy playing it.

Overall, this game is really good, for me. The game is mostly straight to the point and is a really good stress free game. This game is a great time waster, and fits my exact taste. It's not the best decorating game, but it is a very good one. The point of the game is to go around town decorating the insides of buildings for people. Each person wanting their house done are all unique in their own ways and each person wanting their house down, has likes and dislikes. For example one person may love the color blue, while another may hate the color blue. The more likes and dislikes you find out about a place, the better. You see, finding out what a person likes will help guide you to getting a better rating on a house, which means you'll get more gems. Finding out the dislikes in a house will help keep you from using it, as using disliked items will decrease your overall rating (or sometimes an item will be both liked and disliked, if this happens it can go either way. If the item is more disliked it will decrease the score, but if the item is more liked it will increase the score)

Depending on what you like vs dislike, you may not find any interest in this game. I can't speak for you, but I know that I love this game. Of course, to every good game theres flaws and things I don't like, but we'll get to those later. First, here are the things I like about the game!

1. The graphics ~ The graphics in the game are super cute and fun, they couldn't be better. Growing up, I've always loved games that have super cute and calming graphics, and your game is one of those. Now some people may not feel the same way, but I think the style used in the game couldn't be better!
   
2. The Music ~ The music is pretty good. It's not the best but it's still good. It kind of calms you down if you are stressed!
   
3. Calming ~ Being honest, this game is nothing but calming to me. I usually play this game at night, and I can not tell you how much times I fell asleep playing this game. It's an honestly great way to finish the night.
   
4. Great color choice ~ Honestly, I feel as if the author did a splendid job choosing colors to use in the game. Every color just fits the enviroment so well!
   
[*] Brings out my inner prefectionist ~ I can't seem to get enough of this game! Games like these make it hard for me to stop playing. Even if I were to get every single building and house finished and complete the overall goal, I probably would go back and redesign each and every house to the best it can be.

SUGGESTIONS

It's not a bad game, one I'd rank as a 5 or 6/10, and it is fairly cheap.

It plays a little like a puzzle game - you have to decorate houses and there are hidden likes and dislikes which differ for each house. As you place furniture you expose what those likes and dislikes are. The more points you make from likes, the more gems the house produces, and dislikes lower your score causing the gems produced to go down. You then spend those gems to unlock new houses to decorate, and to purchase furniture that you have already unlocked in the catalogue.

In order to unlock new furniture types for use you have to open packs of cards which will give you random pieces of furniture. You get exactly one piece of furniture for each card you recieve, so recieving duplicate cards just gives you more of that same piece to use in your houses. Once you have recieved a card of a piece of furniture you can go ahead and use gems to buy more of that piece so that you can place it in different houses, or several in the same house. The price for buying more furniture raises every time you buy a piece, so it is a good idea to be frugal and wait until you find more cards of that piece than to just keep buying repeats over and over again.

You can not, however, buy booster packs of furniture cards with the gems you earn. You can only buy the booster packs with pearls. The houses that you decorate will have a list of objectives to complete and there are 3 rewards to earn for each house by completing those objectives. You are then rewarded either pearls or booster packs for those objectives.

You have a very limited stock of furniture to use from the start, so you have to use that furniture wisely to make enough gems to unlock more houses. Many times you can't finish a house's objectives until you have opened up a new location and earned more booster packs. So in the beginning of the game decorating each house uses a lot more strategy. As you progress through the game, it becomes easier and easier, but then you can actually start to customize the houses with certain looks as you have a wider selection available to you.

It's not a very indepth game, there are no villagers to interact with, there are no people in the game at all. When you open a new location there is a general note on what the owners are looking for and then you just experiment with placing furniture from there until you have exposed enough of the likes and dislikes to successfully complete each house. It's definitely an "Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer"-Lite game, but at a low price (a decent deal if you find it on sale) it's not a bad time waster for an afternoon.

As a fan of Castaway Paradise by the same developer, I had to pick this one up. It's a lovely casual game, very easy to pick up, and relaxing. You can decorate homes, whilst trying to complete objectives and get pearls which you can spend on packs to open. The packs contain different items that you can use to decorate the homes with. You also get the chance to open packs containing rarer quality items which then boosts your score, so it's quite addictive!

The game is clearly inspired by Animal Crossing's Home designer spinoff game, but I feel like Stolen Couch Games have really put there own spin on it, and it feels unique to any other game I've played.

I highly recommend and can see myself sinking some hours into this :)

Gameplay
So far from what I gather the game is straight forward. You are a home designer and get a set of objectives. How you complete these objectives give you a rating so pay close attention. You get rewards for completing objectives and generate an income as well which allows you to also purchase more property. The more property you have it also generates more gems which is the currency in game.

Other thoughts?
The game seems to have loads to do and so far is fun. For me it is to early to say I love or hate it. I do LOVE the price so that alone is worth buying and testing it.

Any early complaints? Well there already is one actually... The damn music. lol
FML I heard this damn song for 118hrs in "Castaway Paradise" so im beyond tired of it.

Anything stand out that you hope to see in the future?
Yes! Achievements please! That would give me more of a motivation to complete everything.

Good game, just like Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer. You spend all of your time developing houses and adding unlocked furniture you either purchase with gems (which you earn from other houses you've developed), or by getting duplicates from booster packs (which you earn for meeting certain goals when developing a house).

Although the game can be fun, I do have a few complaints. After an hour of play, the game feels incredibly repetitive. There is no difficulty increase further in the game, you simply need to meet a new set of main objectives per house, and you'll be rewarded the exact same. You sometimes get stuck with optional goals where you have to go gain more booster packs to unlock needed furniture (on one stage you need a red chair for an optional objective, but none are guarenteed to be unlocked right away). There is also literally nothing else to do but decorate homes. No interaction with villagers, the home owner, or anything, which is where I see it lacking comparted to Happy Home Designer.

Some things I think need to be ironed out are how some items that are disliked are not removable (on one level, you get penalized for black rocks, but can't remove the black rocks). Also the powerup system is weird, where you can upgrade your gem gain without any cost to you (seems like when it was ported the cost was just removed, but the benfits stayed). You are also presented with an option to "get more pearls", although nothing happens.

Overall, the game is alright, just repetitive, and has a few issues since it was ported from iOS. I see getting a few more hours out of playing the game before I get bored with it.
