Congratulations! You and your friends are graduating from the prestigious Intergalactic Time Academy. No time for partying though as your first mission awaits! The Orbees are all missing. Yes, those curious little beings made of energy who power our time-tech are nowhere to be fou... no, wait! We have a faint trace on their signal. Are you brave enough to rescue them?
Prepare yourself for unknown dangers. If you find some of the Orbees they might equip your Space-Time Machine with new tech. Decide who is in charge of each gadget and combine your abilities to discover the best strategies.

BFF or Die is a game for you if:
You want a 2-4 player game to play with your partner/family/friends where you get to do everything as a team.
Pure co-operation sounds fun to you as it’s a different feeling when you all work together.
You like games that are easy to start playing but then gradually get more challenging.
You like games that let you figure things out yourself rather than “hand holding” you too much and telling you what to do.
You want a game with a fun, short campaign mode which adds replayability by having difficult trophies to collect and also an unlockable “Infinite” mode.

You can play with your friends online by using Steam's new "Remote Play Together" feature, or by using Parsec. Read our Steam community posts about it to find out more.
What to Expect
We strongly recommend playing in 2, 3 or 4 player mode as this is when the game is most fun. Playtime will vary depending on your skill level but as a guide:
1-Player story game: 2-3 hours
2-Player story game: 2-3 hours
3-Player story game: 2-3 hours
4-Player story game: 2-3 hours
“The Infinite Trials”: 1-999 hours! Or maybe ∞ hours :) Complete as many randomised/procedural levels in a row as you can without losing. Go back to the start if you die.
You can either share controllers (two people per controller) or have separate controllers. As a minimum you need the keyboard and one control pad to have a 4-player game. Or you can use four separate control pads, it’s up to you.
There’s a story mode with 30 levels followed by an unlockable “Infinite Trials” mode with challenging randomised/procedural levels.
The game will feel different depending on how many people play. Levels also change around when the number of players change. The characters’ story text will change depending on which characters you pick. Each mode has a different set of trophies. If you want a complete set you will need to complete all modes.

Cute short puzzle coop game
It says full controller support but the controls are crippling and I can't change them. It's like the controls were borrowed from Steam FPS profile but for a game that doesn't have jumping and shooting controls. It's a wrong fit. Also game threw me completely off guard by letting the walls down, releasing mummies, failing me once I collected everything. Talk about an unfair punish.
Description says it requires an Intel i5. Indeed, it's sluggish on i3. I tried it at 2 on the same keyboard. I like the concept.
Considering the price of this game, this is pretty fun to play with your friends (future ex-friends, since you're going to scream at each other face a lot on this game). The puzzle is not as casual so you would get bored or frustrated with some of the puzzles. I wish it has more story to it.
Looks so good in trailer and then the animations look like garbage and its the same repetitive level over and over again. Also it just looks weird in general. 2/10 would not recommend regret wasting my money, just invest the money you could have bought it with into bitcoin or whatever, at least you'll have a chance of getting your money back.
I have played tons of couch co-op games with friends, and usually we enjoy ALL of them.
This was the first game that none of us had fun.
At least the price is low enough that you don't regret too much about buying it.
A co-op game that could have been a satisfying experience, but ultimately ruined by ignorant developers, refusing to listen to player feedbacks.
Let's start with achievements because without them, this game is just about collecting little blue orbs while running away from enemies we cannot attack. It is not particularly innovative or fun unless there are goals to go after. The achievements can help provide such sense of accomplishment, but only when it can be fun getting 100%. The 3/4-player achievements are ruining that as it forces you to play with 4 players locally. The developers made some a silly response of someone else pointing out this problem with "one player can control two characters each". No, after trying that no one wanted to play this game anymore. It is like controlling two characters in Bomberman with no bombs where you have to collect stuff around the map, but you can only avoid enemies and there are lots of dead ends you cannot break through.
Sometimes developers are not aware of how unfair or difficult achievements can ruin the experience and that is okay, as long as they listen to the feedback and adjust them accordingly. The developers of BFF or Die are not one of them. After a short research, it seems like a few players in the past complained about the exact same issues with achievements and even explained why, but the latest version still has no fix. It seems they never even attempted to fix them. Add "no online play" to the mix and you got yourself a game you must avoid. The developers keep suggesting to use the Steam's Remote Play Together feature, but this is just streaming your feed to friends while they send you the input. It's not a viable solution to games like this, but the developers are unable to accept this and kept suggesting them when people point out the lack of online play.
It really is a shame. BFF of Die could have been an easy recommendation to many of our friends, but with such unsupportive developers behind the game, why bother buying this game if you could just buy one of the hundreds, if not, thousands of couch co-op games available out there that support online play?
it seems like the game never sold well and the developers moved on seeing how the console version's improved achievements never got ported back, so it is likely this version would remain the same.
Maybe one day they will listen to the criticism and finally remove these achievements, proving this review wrong that the developers are willing to listen and adjust, but until then, this game remains a big thumbs down.
UPDATE: As you can see in their response the developer only focused on what they wanted to comment on while ignoring other problem like the bad achievement designs. This proves further how terrible they are at actually taking feedback and fixing their games. I strongly recommend avoiding all of their future games, starting with this one.
Hello, when will u make this online play? Its a good game but sadly no online CO-OP . Remote Play is not enough be better please.
For the sale price, it might be worth it. (I think I paid $3) We got some enjoyment out the game.
Pros:
- Does have remote play together and we were able to get 3 of us playing together successfully.
- Cute graphics and the start to a potentially intriguing story.
- Puzzles to solve: There was at least one puzzle which had us trying multiple times to succeed. Potentially more since we probably were a bit more brute force than the intended solutions. Unsure. The levels were made harder by the maze changing slightly between tries so you can't memorize the paths to take/make too much strategy in advance.
- There is an unlimited challenge where you go as long as you can without failing. That could potentially add more gameplay beyond the campaign.
Cons:
- Weird controls: menus don't use A/B but rather triggers? The on screen instructions don't exist or don't help much with interacting. In game controls are similarly weird - using the tools use the shoulder buttons... and they don't always have a fast response to the button press so we often pressed more than once only to realize we "did" and then "undid" the action in quick succession. The other buttons on the controller are unused entirely so there is no lack of options. Honestly, even clearer in-game instructions for the same button actions would have made it better.
- Missing general polish: The hit boxes for the enemies doesn't always seem consistent. The "options" menu was confusing because the "Options" title was the same size/color/font as the selectable menu choices. The story never fleshed out - why are these aliens here? What are they trying to accomplish? What are these orbees? Why are we traveling through "eras" but only in ancient Egypt? We hit a few glitches - sometimes we could push characters over walls using boxes, sometimes not. One time a mummy that should have been trapped managed to run in the pixel wide gap between the wall and the box.
- Few campaign levels - there are 30 levels total. We breezed through all 30 in one evening.
- Not a lot of replay value? Unclear. We had a lot of laughs but not sure that we'll be picking this up now that we beat the campaign. I'm aware that there are the challenge runs (mentioned in the pros list).
Largely it feels like a demo or an early release rather than a full-fledged game. For the price I paid, I think I got my money's worth.
If you watch the trailers for the game it gives the impression it might be pretty fun, but that is certainly not the case. After some 15 levels of total darkness and just pure un-fun, it's time to uninstall this piece of shit. Don't buy, even if discounted.
Edit to reply to dev: We were playing 2 player mode. The mechanic of using the light got old real fast. We were expecting something more casual, or at least something where we could see something. The first few levels when you can see but still have to plan a tactic were fun tho, but again, we *hated* playing in darkness.

A nice cooperative puzzle game.
CRASHES when trying to use Remote Play Together. This is too bad. I really wanted to try it out with some help from my far-flung friends.
The initial levels of the game are different based on the number of players. If you want to teach friends how to play, I recommend playing the first 7, or so, levels in TWO PLAYER mode. The early levels of other modes might fail to teach important aspects (like how to get out of the flashlight booth).
This could be a nice title for some "Games Night" cooperative frustration, err I mean fun.
Got this as I've been looking for more shared controller co-op games to play with my younger sister. Enjoyed the game even if the monsters freaked her out a bit. My only problem is the resolution. Every time I start up the game the configuration window has everything set to the lowest setting and I have to change it. I start the game up and it stays fine until you open the pause/options menu where the resolution reverts back to the lowest setting for the whole game. I can change it again but if I ever open the pause/option menu it reverts back every time. It's getting quite annoying.

Visuals are amazing, but there's not enough content to qualify this as a great game.

Very fun game to play with all your mates. Would definitely recommend as it's a steal at £9 in the sale. Definitely one for hang outs with friends. Don't miss out on it.
Played this at EGX so already had a good idea of what I was buying.
At EGX I was playing with friends of a similar age, we got quite shouty at each other (in a good way :p). Similar to games like Overcooked, this is as much about communicating with each other as it is what you are actually doing on the screen.
I have started playing with my 5 year old at home... he has been getting overly excited (glad the controllers are wireless or he'd have been pulling them out of the PC jumping up and down) when we are close to failure but just manage to grab victory :) He is also quick to shout instructions out on what he thinks I should be doing :p
Will add more when we have had more time with it, but so far we are really enjoying it.

Up to four players can laugh and workout how to solve the increasingly complex levels.
It's been a firm favorite of mine at EGX and other events and I'm glad to be able to share it with my friends now :)
I really enjoyed BFF or Die, and really enjoyed the puzzles and the friendly setting. Having seen this game at a few events, I can't wait to have a few friends come over for a game, so we can have a go with the local multi-player mode as well.
The game is like a physical puzzle game but with action elements to it. And if you play multiplayer, the extra dimension of needing to figure out what each player needs to do and when to complete the level. It can get crazy hectic and tense, especially when your teammates mess up or something unexpected happens. But it never feels unfair or too punishing. Plus you always get time to plan at the start of each level / puzzle.
My only criticism is some of the menu options don't work with keyboard, but nothing that stops you playing the game.
Also bonus points for ancient Egyptian theme!
This is a really fun game! I played it for a couple of hours and I'm definitely going to play this with my nephew next time he comes over.
