This was a thoroughly enjoyable ride despite its old age! Sure there's a lot of back tracking and moving around (actually... I only just realize now that I almost never opened the map to see if fast travel was possible... silly me...)
Well, even so, I really enjoyed the investigation, slowly bringing the pieces together. Good HOG scenes, though sometimes the precision for the click is a bit too demanding especially with thin objects, better to try clicking on the thickest part of those.
But, if you like HOG games, I totally recommend this one ^^
Great old school game I recommend to buy on sale but I think the game is great. My only gripe it wish they allowed you to teleport from the map, but this is an older game
Voice acting is so bad it absolutely ruins the game. It's very obviously computerized. In fact, the developers didn't even bother to change the sound of the computer voice. It is the same robotic woman who reads your texts to you when you're driving in the car. My GPS sounds more lifelike! There are also strange translations that don't always make sense. At one point, the butler dramatically says that the maid is a "chary" character. I realize the developer is Pakistani. However, considering the fact that England colonized that region for several centuries, was it really so difficult for them to find someone who could properly translate the dialogue for them? Were there really no English holdovers from the old days that could do the voiceover work? Even the characters looked robotic. If you look at the woman on the store page, her eyes look lifeless, like a doll's eyes. Her fashion sense was nil. A game like this relies upon its story and actors to make it interesting. This game had absolutely no life to it. The characters sounded like those automated messages that annoy everybody. Not worth the $0.89 I paid for it on sale.
The first unique thing I noticed about this game is that it uses exclusive fullscreen mode. The reason I've been noting the native resolution of the hidden object adventure games I review is because most of their fullscreen modes just scale to whatever the desktop resolution is.
Most of the HOAGs I've played were built with the Spark Casual Engine, which has no exclusive fullscreen mode. I change my desktop resolution to match the resolution of the artwork so screenshots are at the native resolution of the artwork, which is usually very low resolution. There's no need to do that with Entwined because it changes the display resolution to 1024x768 in fullscreen mode.
Entwined must be an old game, judging by the 4:3 aspect ratio. It has a display mode called, "widescreen correction." This is basically windowed fullscreen and it displays at the full desktop resolution. Unlike other 4:3 HOAGs with widescreen modes, this doesn't crop the artwork to eliminate pillarboxes. The game still appears at 4:3.
Enough about the technicals. The game is a very basic version of a hidden object adventure game. There aren't any gimmicks or unique mechanics. At first, it looked like I might have to decide who was responsible for the murder, but it's not that kind of full-featured adventure/detective/mystery game.
You can't decide whom to accuse, but the game does have an unusual amount of freedom to pursue goals for a HOAG. It's not completely linear.
Entwined has the highest density of hidden object scenes in any game I've played in the subgenre. I was constantly sifting through scenes. There's a lot of backtracking and a lot of replaying scenes to find different items. Hidden object scenes become available again in previous rooms without indication. So if you get stuck, go back through every room to find sparkles.
There's also a hints book that explains how to accomplish tasks. I used it once when I got stuck, before I realized hidden object scenes I've already completed can randomly become active again.
The game's description claims this is, "A stunning Hidden Object Puzzle Adventure Game." While I appreciate how close they come to the name I came up with for this sub-genre, Hidden Object Adventure Game, I don't think it "stuns" in any respect. The visuals use a lot of ancient-looking CGI that hasn't aged well.
For some reason, these developers got away with using slightly-modified images of real-world products. From Fruit (Froot) Loops, Coleman camping gear (I doubt this was sponsored like Final Fantasy XV), Heineken beer, Del Monte canned fruit, and Niagara spray starch cans for ironing clothes I remember my parents used in the 1990s. There's an anachronistic Linux penguin, too.

So yeah, I wouldn't call this stunning, but it's alright. I'll recommend.
Even if you enjoy this genre of game, buy it on sale.
Fluff game if you're looking for something casual and relaxing. Not worth $7.00
Great Game!
I enjoyed the who done it. Story line was interesting with multiple hidden objects.
Surprisingly pleasant detective/HOPA game! Despite its older interface, it's easy to play. HO screens were the best kind, the ones where none of the listed objects seems to be present at the first glance.
And it has a decent, coherent story.
8/10
I liked this game. It's very old school: just one hidden object scene after another, with a few easy puzzles thrown in along the way. However the interface is clean, the HOG scenes were fun and relaxing to complete, and the story is decent. Four hours is the right length for this type of game. I'll give it a mild thumbs up, especially if you can get it cheap during a sale.
One of the best HOG i ever played. Good story, nice voice acting, good puzzles, very nice music, smooth graphics although they aren't widescreen and entertaining. A must for the HOG lovers.
Starts off sort of interesting, and then it gets annoying without a map you can jump around. That said, it did take 3hrs because I wandered back and forth all over the place until I started looking at the hints cause I just wanted to finish.
Buy for less than $1 only.
pros
- good looking graphics
- puzzles are mostly easy and enjoyable
- Agatha Christie style murder story and characters intriguing and exciting
- good background musics
- OK voice overs
- well made cut scenes and character animations
- there is auto save
cons
- there are no steam achievements
- game doesn't drop cards.
- hint system not working the way ıt's supposed to be in hog scenes
- you can't see some items in hog scenes because a few items camouflaged with black background.
- sometimes you don't know what to do next.
Not bad. I thought the story was interesting. About half way through the game, though, I tended to find myself wandering around trying to figure out what to do next. Usually I would just stumble upon a hidden object scene, but sometimes I would find some item that I had managed to miss picking up. There are a lot of hidden object puzzles running from easy to medium difficulty. There is one HO scene where I found it impossible to find the Paw Print because it was a black print on a black background. Rather unfair. There are a few other types of puzzles which are pretty easy. Expect around 4 hours of gameplay. Best to get it on sale.
Will not work on Linux without installing the MS MPEG4 V2 codec, which I did not attempt.
This game may not have the best graphics, but the story and gameplay kept me hooked! It is a murder mystery hidden objects adventure. A detective named Karla Robbins was given a case to investigate. A wealthy man named Christopher Edward has been brutally murdered in his home. You have five suspects, his wife, butler, housekeeper, family doctor, and his young secretary.

The gameplay is really good, I enjoyed looking for evidence and piece the things together. I liked how they showed everything about the suspects, age, handwriting, past crimes and fingerprints which you'll use to find out who really did it. The more you find, the more the detective fill those files. They are very useful and well made. There is a map but not an interactive one, you'll find yourself going back and forth to pick stuff and use them. The hinting system is pretty good.

Like most of the old HOGs this game has many hidden objects scenes, and you revisit the same scene a couple of times. The artwork and graphics are outdated even the characters design and animation, but I still enjoyed playing this game. The puzzles were very easy though. I've noticed the soundtracks missing in some of the hidden objects scenes.

Pros:
+Very well-done murder mystery story.
+Useful journal and evidence tracking.
+OK music.
+Ok voice overs.
+Ok puzzles (On the easy side)
+Collectibles.
Cons
-No fast traveling map.
-No steam achievements.
If you enjoy this type of games don't' skip this one even if the graphics are dated. It takes 4 hours to beat it, not a very long game but a good one. Definitely recommended.

I picked this up during the 2018 summer sale and enjoyed playing it. It is a typical HOG with extra things to look for such as fingerprints and lost jewelry. I liked the graphics and voice acting. There is a map and it's a shame that it didn't let you move locations with it - but the lack of this feature wasn't a show stopper. Overall, I liked this game and I was happy I bought it.
