A beautiful and fun racing game with a clear focus on time trial and precision. It's a little rough around the edges, but I feel like it's a solid purchase for the price!
Pros:
- Very pretty. Very few games use the CryEngine to its full potential, since it's a very hard engine to work with in development. But this does a great job, even if things in the distant look low quality with lots of pop-in.
- Lots of variety. Lots of different settings, and each level has something to it to make it unique, and there's a decent number of tracks that vary between the two different types of vehicles you'll drive. Very good for what is just 7 bucks.
- Decent music. It's nothing mind-blowing, and there's not a lot of it, but it does the job and keep you in the game without getting too annoying. Though you might want to listen to your own playlist. I like Sonic Frontiers Cyberspace songs for this game.
Cons:
- Bad physics. This is a physics-focused game, with no good physics. Drifting doesn't feel good, collision is inconsistent, and the level design is unforgiving and even unfair, making the smallest things causing major slip-ups. Also, despite how easy it is to get off the road, and how large these maps are, the game HATES you for going even a little bit off course. You can find a few shortcuts, you will be reset if you don't make those cuts off the road VERY quickly.
(Note: I was able to get the hang of it and familiarize myself with how the physics work, in order to get the medeals, but it's not satisfying. I have to listen to my gut instead of my eyes to play well. So whenever you start to feel good, that's when you'll slip up, so you need to remind yourself that the physics are bad. That's how you stay in the game)
- Audio. You don't have any way to adjust your audio levels, so music is always way louder than any sound effects. And when you restart, until you start driving, the audio stays in one of your ears before going back to both.
- Levels are locked off until you win more medals. Like Trackmania, you can't play the whole game. You have to do well enough on the times to get medals to unlock more levels. This will cause LOTS of trial and error, restarting at almost any mistake, removing the fun from this game, at least for me. I don't like that. Thank GOODNESS the music don't restart every time you do.
It's a good game, ruined by some bad design choices, and probably never getting further patched or updated. But if you find yourself still enjoying the game before the 2-hour playtime window is gone for refunding, then you'll be satisfied with your 7 bucks spent.
Cant cantrol the Vehicle.
You have to HOLD the joystick right until you're turning fast enough, and when you let go it immediately snaps to 0 as if you're playing on a keyboard. The ship feels like it's going 1 MPH all the time. Not worth 3$
yes
Found this game on a Cry Engine showcase video, had nice visuals so I got interested.
The artistic graphic is real good but game has physics problems and fps problems and crashes.
I think it's worth the music and environments but not that super smooth experience I dreamed.
Also Bug report: textures flicker on mountains and ground on that level you ride on the river and the atmosphere is green.
The idea of Racing Glider is supremely interesting: take the white knuckle thrill of rally driving and upgrade it with the sleek style of sci-fi hovercraft. I immediately purchased this, even when it was in Early Access, as I wanted to see how this product fleshed out. A month after the official release and I finally get around to trying it, and it's quite literally a mess.
Racing Glider is not a game. It's not even a demo. It's a bunch of high quality assets pasted into a generic racing engine and sold as a finished product. To start, the game only has two vehicles which, as far as I could tell, handle identically. The only difference is the tracks they have access to, which makes no sense given that they handle so similarly. I could understand making tracks specifically designed for each craft, but there's nothing unique about either of them, so just let us play on all tracks with both craft. The tracks themselves are pretty in screenshots, but in motion they are pretty awful. Terrible amounts of pop-in, criminal amounts of reused assets and a lack of originality in the course design plagues each one. To give the true 'rally' feel, each one of these is a point-to-point course. There are no circuits that I could see, and no multi-stage events either. You simply load the game up, pick a track, race to the end, then go back to the menu.
The game lacks so many basic features that it's astounding this can be sold. The main menu has three options: Play, Settings or Quit. Settings is literally just graphics options. No keybinding, no assists/gameplay tweaks, no audio configuration. Even the in-game and post race menus are bare bones. You can't restart a race if you make an error, and you can't try again if you fail to achieve a medal. Once you start a race, you MUST finish it, in its entirety, or just go back to the main menu.
Even the concept of futuristic rallysport racing is dead on arrival. There's no difference in handling whether you're on futuristic neon track or pure Earth dirt. There are no pace notes, so you must rely solely on your eyes and reflexes to get good times. Even then, the horrible track collision will mess up your runs as you will hit walls you aren't touching or get sent flying off the track because you struck some geometry in a weird way. There's also a boost feature, but it's so inconsistent that I wonder if it even works most of the time.
With regards to sound, it's also pretty unremarkable. The craft have identical engine hum that barely changes no matter how fast you're going. There are some nice tunes but they absolutely do not fit a racing game. Not to mention the stages are so short you'll only ever be hearing the first 30 seconds of a song or so.
What we have here is a game that was made for quick cash, and they sure got me. I requested a refund but it's been so long since I initially bought this game that I'm doubtful I'll get my money back. Once again Early Access burns me and many other players with the promise of "it'll be good one day." This will never be good. The developers took our money, turned off the Early Access sign and dipped.
The game is created by a French developer only it must be taken into account but for the price the games keep its promises a Total Wipeout much more difficult or everything is based on driving.
Two vessels available completely different, the game is pretty and fluid a second view that totally changes the game and makes it very immersive
A very good difficulty levels or small errors are not forgiven.
Negative point that it that collision bug nothing nasty
This is a demo of a game which will never be finished. Do not buy.
The game has been updated and now runs 60fps easily. It's still a point to point time race with no opponents. The game is very pretty, but the controls are still very sluggish, and as a result it's really not very fun to play I'm sad to say. I really had high hopes for this game it seemed like such a neat idea. If it's under 5 bucks I'd consider it for playing in short bursts. Maybe it will get more updating and improvements? I still can'y really recommend it the way it is right now though.
Promising game. Looks good, racing feels nice... Curious what we'll eventually end up with.
Very cool game, highly recommended. It's worth the price.
It has nice gfx and very cool music!
SCREEMING FOR VR SUPPORT !!!
I like it, it has very nice graphics, still early access and has few content, but with enough updates it may become a really nice antigravity race game to have.
Nice little AG racer it still needs a lot of work but there's quite a few tracks, very nice graphics and some decent music that fits the game well and a lot of fun to be had already, I am glad I bought it and think it has potential. Can't wait to see the finished version..
Edit 2-28-20
Games out of early access, get it! Beautiful game
Edit 9-30-18
We got an update!!!
This one adds a new vehical along with physics improvements and a progression system, and new tracks. I'd honestly consider buying it, its a fun little grind to get all of the tracks unlocked ;)
Edit Dev hasn't abandoned it, just has other stuff to do.
Slow dev cycle might turn off many, its a solid bare bones experience, and just needs content and polish, still couldn't reccomend it
Last update was in may 2018
Oh yeah, this is super alpha as of June 21, 2018. Try back in a year or so. It's hardly more than an incomplete tech demo at this point. Also, not a racing game. It's a time trial/can-you-stay-on-the-track game (Antigravity Rallycross is actually a pretty good description). Any comparison to Wipeout is not apt. The controls are terrible, slow turning and top speed feels like 35 MPH no matter what the "speedometer" says. There is potential here (it's very pretty) but the developers should have waited until they had a more complete product before releasing on Steam, even for Early Access it's rough.
Interesting concept, but wait until it has more content. It looks good and it runs okay considering how early it is, but there isn't enough content here to warrant a buy.
The gameplay is nice and it is not as difficult as wipeout fury.
There are a lot of tracks and the music fits in a bit of trance and i really like the music!
Graphics are great also it feels more natural you can see the work of cry-engine.
I played on 1080P on my 1440P monitor and i dont know that was the problem, the game didnt support (UWHD - 21:9) Resolution 3440x1440, but the graphics looked a bit washed out and soft looking and everything far away seemed like low res graphics. It didnt look sparkling and vright.
But like i said maybe its because of playing 1080P on a 1440P and can it look better with a update.
There is a lot of potential in it.
For €7,99 a great deal. Even in this state.
Cant wait for the next updates!
