TLDR: the game itself however flawed, is definitely worth a play it if its on sale.
so starting with the cons:
1.the first problem is to do obviously with ubisoft connect, not only its annoying to have a launcher launch a launcher its the notorious ubisoft one and with being that it causes real issues with the game,to even with starting the game(which for some reason i cant even start it on my laptop without enabling sudo in windows (?!?!) on my desktop it works fine🤷♂️).
2. micro transactions: i never liked the idea, but in this game it cosmetics only(other then DLC's) so it doesnt really bother me. you can get gear and stuff by progressing and doing contracts, its not as worse as other games.
3. the map: as you can see in pretty much every review, its super confusing. after playing evo and fusion, where the levels and progression order are pretty clear, here its all over the place, but you get used to it, so again not really that much of a problem.
4. no offline mode: i dont really care about the multiplayer part of it, its nice to have but its not the reason i play this game, so that one actually sucks...
5. intial grinding: because of the previous con, it will take about a day or two of playing for some hours, or a week if you are busy like me, to get to the actual challenging tracks. it might be a good thing if you are new to the game, but for me it was too long.
6. contracts rewards possible bug: in some sponsors contracts such as Fox and Redbull i cant see the decals i was supposed to get after completing them, tried to search for the reason online but couldnt find anything about it...
now for the pros:
1. its a trials game: hard as hell, funny and can take hours of your life without you noticing👍👍👍
2. competitiveness: because i got into trials games not long before playing this one, i didnt feel it in the other games(RIP servers 😭), the only drive i had to complete a track at certain time was to get the next medal. now that you have ghosts of random players it gave a whole new reason for it, and i like it.
i get why veteran players players dont like it, but for someone that didnt played with his friends, i dont see it as a bad thing.
3. customization: if you ever played forza horizon, its kinda the same, you can add decals to your gear and bike parts and let your creativity flow, i wished i had it in the previous games so its great to see it here.
4. University of trials: shutout to prof. fat shady for creating it in the first place, and for the devs to recognize the potential and putting it as a part of the game. for new players this is a must!
5. physics: for some reason i feel like they are better then the previous games.
6. contracts: nice edition that give you another reason to repeat a track, you might say its grinding but for me, this game is about playing the same track over and over and try to beat your best attempt(or others)
in conclusion:
i had more to say but forgot(ADHD), so after you get over the intial grinding and kinda accept the ubisoft stuff, this in my opinion the best game in the series and so for a sale i do believe it worth your time.
MAKE A NEW GAME SO I CAN GIVE YOU MORE OF MY MONEY YOU COWARDLY UBISOFT SLUGS!!!!!
11/10 FRANCHISE PLEASE DON'T LET IT DIEEEEEEEEEE
It could be a good title... if it would work. On Windows 10 it worked after starting it often enough but now with windows 11 I am not able to start it no matter what i do.
This game crashes on start regularly, does not show the correct buttons when using controller so you have to swap between controller and mouse and keyboard to navigate menus after all this time, not sure it was even worth the special price of $7 bucks.
I was one of those kids that came across Trials HD on XBL Arcade and immediately fell in love. I saw this game was a mere $7 and even with all these negative reviews I decided to buy it just for nostalgia sake and hoped it would be a cool experience. I was very wrong. As others say, this game will NOT launch without some launch command line nonsense. When it does launch, you'll be very confused as to why the game looks so slow and choppy. I learned the game is hard-coded to cap at 60FPS. Even on an RTX 3070, it cannot hold the already brutal 60FPS. There are tons of micro-stutters, texture pop in, etc. It also looks incredibly blurry on high settings. This game is a technical mess, especially for a game like this that should run amazing on even a cell phone. It probably works and plays much better on a console so play it there if you own one. But I can not recommend this game one bit and it's such a damn shame. This franchise used to be LEGENDARY.
Trials Rising* is a significant downgrade from *Trials Fusion* in almost every aspect. The soundtrack, for instance, lacks the energy and memorable quality that made *Fusion's* music so engaging. Instead of adding to the gameplay experience, the tracks in *Rising* feel uninspired and fail to capture the excitement of racing.
The courses themselves are another letdown. Whereas *Fusion* offered a variety of creative and challenging tracks that kept players hooked, *Rising’s* levels feel lackluster and repetitive, with little innovation in their design. They seem to lack the attention to detail and ingenuity that once defined the series.
Perhaps the most frustrating aspect of *Trials Rising* is its convoluted map system. Navigating the world map to find new events is a tedious task. Unlike a well-organized layout that allows players to easily access races, *Rising* forces players to scroll and scale the map aimlessly in search of new challenges. This disorganized approach detracts from the overall experience, making what should be a seamless progression feel clunky and frustrating.
Taken together, these flaws make it nearly impossible to recommend *Trials Rising* to anyone, even die-hard fans of the series. It feels like a step backward, lacking the charm, polish, and excitement that made *Trials Fusion* so enjoyable.
This game is great when u feel like you would like a challange especially the training tracks and getting a+ thats hard but fun!!
Game wouldn't launch for the first few days, leading up to launch. Considering the other reviews, this isn't just me. It's baffling how Steam allows games like this which just refuse to launch, due to some screwy external launcher they rely on in order to boot. I tried randomly a few days after buying the game, and it happened to work all of the sudden with no changes made, so I assume this just falls back on how Ubisoft's launcher is feeling on any given day. It's good that they still have a developer responding to issues people are having with the game, but the issue at hand is ridiculous altogether. When the game DOES work, though..
- .. The Ubisoft launcher still sucks. It WILL fail to synchronize cloud saves, but I assume that doesn't matter.
- UI is terrible. Looks like something you'd play in a F2P mobile racing game. Far too difficult to get right back into levels with so much padding in between.
- Lootboxes. They're dropped relatively frequently, but are extremely padded out with stickers nobody wants. Terrible.
- Poor visuals. I just expected a little more from a game released in 2019. Some maps look good, but others are just terribly bland.
- Incorrectly-labeled button prompts. Nearly every prompt which appears in this game is left joystick. I don't really know why, lol.
I love Trials as a series, but this isn't it. Which sucks, because I love the music in this game, the maps are pretty fun in their own right, and it also features custom maps (which are inevitably on a timer as well, knowing what happened with Trials Evolution). I also love how they added the voices of Gavin and Jack from Rooster Teeth into this game, as a callback to their original Let's Plays of Evolution and Fusion from the early 2010s. The game at its core is still really engaging, but it's seriously ruined by too many variables for me to consider it even worth the 80%-off promotion.
You'll experience a lot of issues trying to start the game first and foremost.
Even though the game itself is still fun for me as someone who's been invested in the Trials series since 2008, it can be difficult for new players to get hooked onto the game especially with the overload of contracts/quests that pop up after every one that you complete. It can be very confusing.
I'll still play it for the nostalgia but it's disappointing that we haven't gotten a new Trials game.
Worked fine the first day. But since then, the game just crashes on startup. Awful experience.
DO NOT BUY!!!!
Anti Cheat has ruined this game and made it un-launchable.
I have done everything to try and launch but to no success.
There is no need for a game like this to have anti cheat.
Make your own opinion. Don't let Ubisoft ruin a good game for you.
To steam deck users as of today, the hex editor hack does make this playable. I’ve tried it in the past and I did not have luck finding the correct offset mentioned. I was given guidance to try a different hex editor and can confirm that Okteta does show the offset and I was able to get the game running on steam deck. Prior to this it would just crash due to shit Ubisoft Anticheat. Use this guide for disable Anticheat. The only thing of note is the offset appeared as 0178:ACC0 instead of 0178ACC0 using Okteta. HexEdit did not work for me on steam deck. This may also work for other users on other Operating systems, cannot confirm.

Scroll down towards bottom for the Anti Cheat hex edit guide. “For steam”
We should not have to do this crap. Fuuk Ubisoft. I hate supporting them, but love this series.
This game is a steaming pile of absolute garbage that gives trials a bad name. It stutters like crazy making it impossible to play. And most people cant even get the game open. I wish I never wasted my money on this fucking bullshit.
not working after launch, do not buy!
For it's current discount price the game definitely worth it. Fun to play, great maps' design and overall good gameplay. It's really a pleasure to play.
As for the cons: sometimes the game won't launch due to Ubisoft Launcher connectivity issues (I guess), progression is quite clunky, UI a bit overloaded and the game has lootboxes. Who's stupid idea was to add lootboxes in this game?! As a result, instead of steady progression and good customization, unlocking new assets for leveling, completing trials and achievements you receive lootboxes with random shit. And this is the only way to get new items. Also, to justify lootboxes Ubisoft have added A TON of useless shit in customization, like stickers and etc. And that ruins the experience.
Nevertheless, for the price of 4 euro it definitely worth it. If you go directly to the trials and skip all this casino shit you'll get a decent gameplay
start crash start crash start crash - authentic Trials experience now replicated on boot.
Honestly i do not know if it is a good or bad game, because it does not even start... really frustrating.
very good for casual fun. Its not hard, i just wants you to train an use brain+physics. Graphics is cool, it needs little practice and its NOT against player. I like it.
Ubisoft should not be allowed to sell games that don't work
You play on PC, do you have a real PC controller other than this shitty Xbox controller ?
You just can't play the game with your pad.
Shame on you Ubi.
I'm sick of these games that take us hostage with this fucking xbox controller, it's shit, period !
I DON'T WANT TO PLAY WITH MY KEYBOARD !
STOP IT !!!
More of these games please
dog sh!t. a shadow of its former self. You can see the laziness. Buy fusion, dont buy this one.
Cannot believe they are still able to sell this game, it doesn't function. A huge amount of people cannot get this game to start whatsoever due to Ubisoft's insistence that you install their bloatware. This is a phenomenal game, Trials deserves better than Ubisoft.
I highly recommend looking into how many people are complaining on forums and in tickets before purchasing this game.
Oh boy, Trials Rising, where do I start with this one? Ok let's start with the positives, the tracks are actually really amazing and well designed, I like the Around the World setting, the skill games are quite decent, the customization is a massive step up from Fusion's, the University of Trials is a neat addition for newcomers and the music is pretty goodl! Those are the only parts that I like about the game!
Now let's get to the negatives. The performance in this game is not good, there's a bunch of stutters, the menus/UI is slow and laggy. The world map UI is a mess, the loading times are slow and long, I don't like the lootboxes to unlock gear and the game is grindy due to it's progression system. This affected my experience with the game and even past Trials games didn't have these issues, it lacks polish.
In conclusion, it has good content but bad optimization, grinds, in-game currency, loot boxes and issues. Which is why I'm giving this game a not recommended rating. It doesn't feel as fast and it's not a polished game. It's still as broken as I remembered which is disappointing...
very fun but hard mechanics to learn
Game does not work on deck
DO NOT BUY
Better than fusion ,more the same as evolution. not perfect but still good.
Ubisoft is a joke, your launcher is garbage
Trials® Rising is an exhilarating physics-based platforming game that masterfully blends high-octane action with a steep learning curve. Developed by RedLynx and Ubisoft, it delivers a satisfying mix of challenge, humor, and creativity, making it a must-play for fans of the series and newcomers alike.
Positives:
One of the game’s greatest strengths is its accessibility. Trials® Rising welcomes players with a gradual difficulty curve, allowing beginners to enjoy the fun of navigating its intricate courses while still offering veteran players a true test of skill in later stages. The tutorials are clear and effective, making it easy to pick up and play.
The level design is outstanding, with tracks set in diverse, real-world-inspired locations. From roaring stadiums to exotic landscapes, each track is bursting with personality and creative obstacles. The game strikes a perfect balance between spectacle and precision, challenging players to master its physics while delivering breathtaking visuals.
Multiplayer adds another layer of excitement, with both online and local modes that encourage friendly competition. The inclusion of a tandem bike mode, where two players share control of a single bike, is a hilarious and chaotic addition that’s perfect for couch co-op.
Customization is another highlight, with players able to design their rider’s appearance and bike to their liking. The community-driven content creation tools allow for a virtually endless supply of user-generated tracks, extending the game’s replayability far beyond the core content.
Criticisms:
Despite its strengths, Trials® Rising has a few rough edges. Progression can feel grindy at times, with repetitive tasks required to unlock certain events. The game’s emphasis on earning gear through loot boxes, while purely cosmetic, might not sit well with players who prefer more straightforward rewards.
Additionally, while the challenge is part of the game’s charm, some of the later levels can feel punishingly difficult, potentially alienating more casual players. The balance between fun and frustration isn’t always perfect, and retries can occasionally feel tedious.
Finally, while the tracks are visually diverse, the game’s environments sometimes lack the graphical polish expected from modern titles. Certain textures and details can feel dated, though this doesn’t detract significantly from the overall experience.
Conclusion:
Trials® Rising is a thrilling and addictive game that offers a unique blend of skill-based gameplay, creativity, and humor. It’s a game that rewards perseverance and mastery, providing immense satisfaction when you finally conquer a challenging track.
While it has its minor flaws, such as a grindy progression system and occasional difficulty spikes, the sheer fun of its gameplay and the vibrant community make it a standout in the platforming genre. Whether you’re a longtime Trials fan or a newcomer, Trials® Rising is a ride worth taking.

says i have an hour played, all of that has been on black screens, ive never actually seen the menu screen of this game, and i regretfully cant refund the game as i purchased it too long ago. ubisoft game, it expected to have bs happen with it.
best game ever
Why can't I play this game I bought????
this game is awesome
y7ughhuhghfuhgjnufifh+
It's a testament to how fun Trials is as a concept that I managed to play as much of this game as I did. Even ignoring the launcher BS, it's atrocious progression system makes it a slog to play.
Just play Trials Evolution.
Well, I bought Trials Rising on sale and it sure is a Trials game. For a good while the game didn't work, but eventually I found a solution (cmd /c "set OPENSSL_ia32cap=:~0x20000000 && %command%" for those who know). Now that's broken too. So Ubisoft connect runs and the Trials executable just shuts down again. RedLynx needs to get out of the Ubisoft failure vortex. I think that executives who love to buy up companies and ruin them need to face consequences. Bring back old school RedLynx please and drop the Ubisoft garbage.
game does not start at all
Pretty fun skill game. Lots of tracks, some bikes to choose from/etc. You can also buy DLC stuff if you desire that as well. Overall it keeps me pretty entertained and I like to challenge myself to get better track times.
won't start, crash at startup, doesn't even show any windows
its one of the best pick up and put down games ever created imo i honestly am waiting beyond patiently probably in vein but BRING BACK TRAILS PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i wish i could leave a mixed review on TRIALS RISING. i don't really hate it at its core. i think it has a lot of issues though.
first of all. the feel of the bikes in this game is great! i think it comes close to fusion for my favorite of just. the way things Feel. they did a great job on that.
the level design is also really good! i think there are a lot of very creative and fun levels to play, and i enjoyed pretty much all of them. i really was worried that setting trials back in the 'real world' would cause tracks to become a little more boring.
now. the parts i really don't like.
im not that big a fan of the progression in this game. it feels very very mobile game like. having things locked behind levels (and ive played nearly every track in the game sans the mtx track packs, read below) and gotten silver and gold medals primarily, i guess this is to maybe also to get you to play player made maps which is okay enough, just a little annoying to me. it feels weird to have tutorials gated from me by my level. it doesn't feel right. ive played every trials game, with this kind of progression i wish itd allow me to just throw myself around whatever skill level tutorial id want.
also i really dislike the contract system, supercross races that are required to unlock more tracks, finals, etc. i just am not a fan of them and i don't find them very engaging as an activity. (all of the ones i did were also probably the easiest tracks in the whole game? there's just not a lot of variety in them i feel)
FMX's exclusion from this game is also a little weird, a nifty little system i liked from fusion that let you do tricks, tho idk how much i have to say about it other than it isnt there.
secondly, this game has microtransactions! and premium currency! trials fusion also had these, primarily for unlocking special outfits and bike frames or whatever. in trials rising, acorns are used to unlock 5 of the 13 total bikes in the game, and around 20 or so tracks. technically, you *can* earn around 180 acorns for free, if you really want to. but i don't really think this is a good solution, because to unlock every non-cosmetic item that is locked behind acorns, you will have to spend around 50 dollars. this game has two expansions i dont think it would be hard at all to just include the new bikes with those, or to just make a track pack cost normal money. ubisoft isn't *beyond* that. but it has to be premium currency because gotta have those microtransactions i guess!
i don't think me not liking everything about this game is redlynx's fault, i think it might be ubisoft's.
i hope we can even *get* another trials game, rising seems like it was recieved pretty well by critics and i imagine it sold fine. though what doesn't give me hope is the fact that redlynx hasn't worked on anything really big since rising. being relegated to a bit of a ubisoft support studio (apart from gwen's getaway, which was cancelled and i dont know much about other than its a mobile game). given that it's been nearly 6 years since launch and the only two dlcs for this game released the same year, i think it's safe to say that rising isn't getting anything new apart from community levels. which seem good, there seems to be a pretty good community there.
knowing the possibility of this being the last trials game is a little bittersweet. i really do enjoy this series and revisiting it has given me a lot of joy, i just really hope that we can get another one soon. and i will be there on launch day, whether it is good or not.
2 WORDS FOR THIS GAME. FUN. FRUSTRATION.
Ninja tracks go brrrbb
Compared to Frontiers this is garbage
Can no longer play this after changing my Ubisoft account. Bearing in mind I purchased this through steam. Why do we need to have 5 million different bulls*** launchers to simply play games? Shame because I liked this game too...
why is there in game purchases? on a paid game
Trials Rising is everything you love about "Trials" combined with everything that you hate about where the industry has shifted towards over the last decade.
While this game has a poor reputation for its loot boxes (purely cosmetics) and ghosts (easily disabled) --- the biggest downfall for Rising would have to be the stupid Challenge system.
Previous Trials games were more linear... accumulate 'X' amount of medals and you will unlock the next batch of levels. If you're unfortunate enough to achieve Gold's on your first playthrough, Trials Rising will eventually force you to complete a bunch of mindless "Challenges" to level up. Otherwise, you will literally be stuck. The challenges force you to complete random stipulations, such as completing a track within 90 seconds while performing 10 backflips. The next level might require completing the track with a specific bike, and so forth.
Despite my play time on Steam, I've actually logged 10 hours on the PS5; I love the game and wish I could play MORE levels, but I'm burned out. If you do not purchase the Expansion Pass, you will easily get to a point where you can no longer unlock anything within 2-4 hours --- and the highest track difficulty is MEDIUM. I'm actually up to level 53, and I have still not unlocked a single Hard or Ninja track.
There are several Skill Games, and I believe one "tutorial" track is also locked. I'm literally forced to re-play levels... not because *I* want to shave milliseconds from my PB's, or to beat someone else's PB's in my Friends List. No... I have re-play levels and complete whatever mundane "Challenge" the game has generated... grinding away to slowly level up.
It's a shame, because this is otherwise a great game and would have been my favorite Trials game if it simply had a more traditional, linear progression system that allowed me to unlock more stages. I ended up purchasing the game on Steam to support the developer and I hope another Trials game eventually hits the market.
Also, despite recent reviews, the game absolutely still runs as of the time of this review.
If you're a fan of Trials, check it out... on sale. Be prepared to purchase the Expansion Pass, as well. Otherwise, you're only getting a few hours of gaming and a few dozen Easy and Medium tracks until you're forced to grind out the same levels over... and over... and over... and over... and over... and over....
and over...
nice game but its so hard to get money in this game and it took a long time to load. i am actually using ssd and high internet connection. sometimes there is a pop up showing internet connection lost in the game
Genuinely don’t understand the mixed reviews of this. The Ubisoft signup is mildly annoying for about 5 minutes but after that…
As someone who has played RedLynx trials games since the earliest flash title this is by far the best.
Amazing tracks, amazing graphics and perfect arcade style physics which make for such a fun game.
Love it.
