very fun and entertaining and the mods make it 10/10
love the game, its gorgeous and i love the gameplay mechanics
After I let this one sink in, and reading some more about its quite troubled development, I have to say it’s a small miracle we got what we got. This is actually a very well made FF with likable characters. Even though most side characters you only meet once or twice and they are never seen nor heard from again. But as it stands I’m actually really happy I got back to this one and finished it with 100% achievements. Though the comrades stuff I could have done without.
For achievement hunters a guide is really recommended, especially for the otherwise easily missed data entries. Besides this it just takes around 100 hours give or take to get them all. In the end, in my opinion, worth it though.
60fps in average graphic on legion go looks good
Great storyline. combat can be very tricky though when using the keyboard/mouse ... if you study the combat moves closely it'll you help you survive and win. if all else fails google some youtube videos from other players.
Game is pretty cool. It's the closest to FFXII out of the entire series which i consider a plus. Also, kinda scratches that Mass Effect itch.
I had some stuttering issues in 4k on a system that should more than be able to handle it fine, Ddjusted a bunch of options and followed a bunch of forums posts to little avail. Oddly enough, downloading the 4k texture pack and turning everything to high made it look much better and ran smooth as butter. Just posting this hear because it worked for me and I hadn't read about this anywhere.
Also, Free Palestine
Not the worst Final Fantasy i've every played nor is it my favorite, the game has its fair share of problems but i'll say that after giving the game a real chance i think the game is pretty solid but its obviously incomplete.
The game has its fair share of problems, its clear that the game was really ambitious but it has a REALLY troubled development but i think they tried their best for this Royal/Windows Edition. Final Fantasy 15 probably has the smallest party compared to other mainline games and the game itself relies heavily on the development and interplay between the 4 characters, the game quickly establish their relationship and group dynamic right as the game starts while the standard pattern for a Final Fantasy game is the character meeting and getting to know each other as the game progress which is not a bad thing. Though i feel like the attack on Insomnia before the second chapter could be more impactful if they let you run around and explore the city for a bit and see more of Noctis and his father relationship without having to see other piece of media to know it, even though they put a scene from the Kingsglaive movie in this version which i feel like isn't enough with how quickly the plot progresses from there but it was honestly a good call instead of not showing it at all.
The game actually have a good story, but it was told in probably one of the worst way with how all over the place it is if you want to know about what happens before the game in multiple form of media.
Most people say that the battle system are bad because all you had to do is hold 1 button down and the battle play itself, i mean yeah you obviously wouldn't have a good time if you decided to choose the most unfun and least effective way to play, its not as deep as a full on action game but you got quite a big variety of attacks with how each different weapon have different directional attack to play around with, though the game didn't explicitly told you about the directional attack
even though positioning is an important factor in combat.
Not to mention the soundtracks are great, can't go wrong with Yoko Shimomura.
The open world settings compliment the roadtrip adventure concept of the game, i actually find myself enjoying traversal with the car and didn't use the fast travel that much... and the picture mechanic for each day in the game is really cool with how it randomly generated depends on what you do, it gives your adventure some personal touch. Even though the lighting acts a bit weird sometimes, for a game from 2018 FF15 still looks really good and more importantly THE FOOD LOOKS REALLY GOOD, the game even have some cool enviromental impact detail of magic spells that FF16 didn't have and i personally think the blizzard spell in XV is the best one in the series.
After going through development hell im glad that the DLCs helped the game a bit with its weird pacing, and lets us get another playable character that plays differently. The new final dungeon does a really good job naturally letting you play as each party members as the fight progress.
The game is not that long but when the credits rolls it felt like a long journey and felt rewarding to me.
Despite all the hate i find myself liking the game and i really enjoyed playing it, you can't go wrong by giving it a try, especially on sale. Kinda reminds me of FF8 where people either love it or hate it.
Still wish they didn't cancel the Aranea DLC, but hey at least the game has chocobo drifting!
For me personally, this game is very fun and been the most entertaining story I've played so far. It may not be perfect but it's still great.
I am kinda new to final fantasy so this is not pretending to be a review, but my impressions.
This game has a lot of cons, and it took some time and few attempts for it to click. I think part of the issue is the clunky menus/UI, however the settings and spectacular fantasy got me interested to the point I was able to finally get the gameplay and enjoy the game to its fullest.
As a long-time Final Fantasy fan, FFXV truly hit home for me. The first half of the game is a fantastic road trip, letting you bond with your friends while taking in the beautiful world. It’s an unforgettable experience, and the music is chef’s kiss—especially the main theme, which sticks with you long after the credits roll.
Gameplay-wise, it’s solid, but I can’t help but prefer the action and depth of FFVII Remake and Rebirth. That said, the combat is fluid, and the world itself is full of charm.
The story starts off as a bittersweet journey, pulling you in, and by the end, it’s a dark and emotional ride that I absolutely loved. The plot is compelling and has its twists, with Ardyn being one of the most intriguing villains in the franchise. The DLCs really dive deeper into his character, making him even more fascinating.
Noctis’ character development is great, and by the end, Gladio, Ignis, and Prompto feel like family. The relationships you build with them throughout the game add so much depth.
While FFXV may not be the best in the series, it stands on its own with a unique vibe, a captivating world, an emotional story, and a soundtrack that deserves to be remembered. The side quests can get repetitive, and some gameplay elements could have been improved, but overall, it’s a solid game.
Strong 8.5/10—definitely memorable, and the ending of the main game and Chapter 9 will stay with me forever.
Well... the game is pretty, looks very good, flashy even... But the story doesn't really feel "emotional" or credible enough. Example: a character dies and the protagonist is off to get some amethysts for a random dude (the quest is available right after the event). Not only that but the side quests are mostly fetch "item 39" and bring to Xyz person which makes for boring sidequests that I am doing my best to avoid.
Plus, the game feels soooooooooooooooooooooooooo slow, there's 13 screens to say "hey, you completed a quest". Example: in a quest I brought some tomatoes to a dude, after I delivered them there were unsinkable messages of "Quest completed, you brought tomatoes" (3 secs) "Here are your rewards" (3secs) then the dude: "Hey man, thanks" (5 secs), then the blonde companion goes "Hey, we did a good thing" (5 secs), then Noct just stands there. JUST GIVE ME THE COMPLETED MESSAGE ALREADY AND LET ME MOVE ON.
The is a flustrating experience so far. The combat is basically done by pressing 2 buttons: X to attack (in an Xbox controller) and B to teleport, with a few far and between situations to press RT to command your companions to attack in a special way (NOTE: they do almost NO DAMAGE to enemies otherwise). BORING AS HELL.
Oh, but there'are some cute girls. And food recipes, lots of them, everywhere, "Hey a red smelly cactus" dude in glasses: "DID YOU JUST SAY NEW RECIPE?".
So far, the most boring, empty and vague Final Fantasy I've played. Go play the other FF, they are less boring.
I see a colossal amount of good ratings for the story so I will try and finish this game, let's see if I will bite my tongue.
You know, I kinda wish we got the rest of this game's DLC and it didn't get shitcanned, because there's the bones of something truly special buried within Final Fantasy XV that I can't quite describe but I'm going to attempt to here anyway. Most of the people who would want to purchase this game probably already have, but since FFXVI is out and Clive is in Tekken 8, I'm sure people will probably have some mild interest in this and at that I think some explanation is warranted as to what this is, and what it is not.
This game is not a good story, but it is a story with good characters. It's not a good action game, but it is a game with good action. This game is not an open world adventure, but it does have a world that is open to have adventures in. This game is not a dungeon crawler, but it does have dungeons you can crawl through, sometimes literally. It's a simulacrum of many different types of games, coming together to create something that is greater than the sum of its parts, but probably in a bad way with how heavy it gets.
For example, this game has a LOT of side-missions and sidequests. Maybe I don't wanna do a solid 50-60 hunt quests where I go to a random place, kill a random monster and return for money I won't spend and materials I won't use. But the process of doing those quests, and going to those random locations and beating those random monsters, reveals something I might actually want to use, like a gathering point for materials I will use or a fishing spot for fish I will catch or a campsite for resting and eating food that is useful to continuing the game.
These missions aren't difficult. Nothing in this game is difficult, even its hardest challenges and most in-depth setpieces. It's an easy game, made even easier by how cracked out leveling up is even though they try to restrict you by only tallying experience when you rest. But since you can easily double the amount of experience you gain within the first hour of the game, and then in its second half find a way to triple it and go even further, it's not like leveling will actually be difficult. Same goes for equipment -- the materials you find are plentiful and the weapons and gear you can discover or that drop from enemies or bosses keep you going with minimal effort.
Shoot, you can even turn the game on an easier mode so you're just kinda rolling around steamrolling everything. Even the deadly monsters that appear at night that you're supposed to be afraid of (and probably are at first since they're three times your level) are actually pretty surmountable and later trivial because of the sheer number of recovery items and combat options you have for dealing with stuff like this. That doesn't even cover your ability to swap to any of your other bros and change what game you're playing (Dark Souls for Gladio, a shittier DMC for Ignis and a surprisingly competent third person shooter for Prompto) when you don't feel like dealing with Noctis's busted-ass auto-fighting and teleporting powers.
So where IS the effort in this game? I suppose it's in riding chocobos over the sweeping landscapes, or admiring the scenery while you're doing the speed limit on the highway in your Mercedes-Benz, or the dopamine hit you get from doing an impromptu dual tech with your one-to-three best friends in the whole wide world or the cute little interactions the Backstreet Anime Boys have when they're chilling in the car or at camp. They play cards, they swipe their phones to help each other in gacha game raids, they hoist up and sit on the top of the seats in the convertible when the sun's out, they banter and laugh and give you a front-row seat to everything they do, every photo they take, every meal they eat. In that sense, this game is... Amazing. This journey is amazing, something truly wonderful to spectate and bring to its conclusion.
But that's the problem: You're spectating it. You're watching it unfold, but not really being an active participant in doing so. The plot is a series of checkpoints and serious conversations held by people who are far away from the moments that have ruined their lives and emotionally unimpactful developments that you know you're supposed to care about, but that you don't really understand. There's a few reasons why. The translation is one of them. If you pick up the English Subtitles For Japanese Voice-Over mod that uses yu_eriyama's retranslation of the story, you get a much stronger understanding of how the characters are feeling than in the original.
The other is probably the game's budgetary limitations and development hell. FFXV started life in 2009 as a side-game to Final Fantasy XIII, and we all know the story of how Squeenix handled that, including the disastrous launch of FFXIV and its later extremely popular revival and the general loss of brand power of Final Fantasy compared to the 90s and early 2000s. So when this game launched on the PS4, it was a complete mess; the story was barely complete (they had to add cutscenes that were just footage from the movie to make it make more sense), they had to expand and revise the final areas in a post-game patch, they only got to release four DLCs for the game out of a planned seven (most of the story's main heroines were supposed to get a DLC), and even the multiplayer was tacked-on but also unusually important for understanding the state of the world at the end of the game, which is never something you want to do.
Most FF fans know this already. This game is fraught. But you can see where decisions Squeenix made during this game's development showed up later. Kingdom Hearts 3's combat probably wouldn't be so loose and full of spectacle and ridiculous particle effects if this game didn't have them. Same goes for FFXVI. This game also sold well enough to give the developers the breathing room to make FFXIV something truly special, to make more, better Final Fantasy games and to release a bunch of remakes and updates of games that people loved in the past, like Trials of Mana or Saga Frontier Remastered. It saved the franchise, and it really tries to push the envelope of what an RPG actually is.
An RPG isn't necessarily just a set of numbers and statistics, or a narrative that you shape and participate through your actions. If we want to talk about roles, FFXV's role for you is pretty clear: You're here to enjoy the show. The anime boys are here to put it on for you, and be your guides through it, and maybe remind you that there's more fun to be had in the journey than just in its conclusion.
My second final fantasy. It's such a pretty that the real ending has not been completed. The combat system is interesting while the guideline is terrible which does not give you any effective information corresponding with it. The graphic of it is leading the era. Even today I appreciate it very much.
I'm still unsure whether I should recommend it or not. It feels rushed and unfinished, which is crazy since this game has been in the minds of their creators since FF13. I guess all the changes since it was "Versus 13" really contributed to how messy everything feels.
The combat is not bad, but it doesn't accomodate a game of this length, it ends up feeling repetitive after 10-15 hs, thankfully they later updated the game and you can switch between any of the 4 main cast members which adds variety. The magic system is terrible, it is more trouble than it's worth, and the camera is some of the worst I've ever seen.
All quests are fetch quests with no story or development behind them, they just send you to the other side of the map to collect something or kill an enemy and back, and there are a ridiculous amount of them.
The thing is, there is a glimpse of greatness behind all of this, it's just that everything is executed in an incredibly mediocre way, partially because there's an attempt to make the game have 70-100 hours of "content" when it clearly isn't meant to have them.
The story is a mess too, severely underdeveloped, but I liked the direction it took once you left the open world, in the second half of it, even if it creates plotholes only to be filled by the DLCs. I ended up liking the cast a lot and got very emotional with its conclusion. What is more, the first 10 hours are actually amazing, the cast and the journey they go through together is very well made, and I really enjoyed the slice of life aspect to it.
So yeah, it also has a lot of positive aspects, and I think they outweigh the negative, that's why I think it's worth giving it a try. It's not one of my favorites by any means, but it's a nice enough game.
The story is sucks until you've played the dlcs. This could've been my favourite FF series ever made but SE had to rushed it really bad. It had so much potential in the story that could be one of the most heartwarming yet so dark. Thanks for the experience FF15 i really fucking love the gameplay.
its taken me a long time to get round to playing this...I had it in mind from watching my nephew play on release day that I wouldn't like killing some animals and it was just too different from the rpg's i like. Skip to present and i'm playing and enjoying it very much. Still don't like killing some of the animals which you need to to finish quests...especially when some of a heard's are calf's.
a 2016 final fantasy game that does better in graphics and story and everything than all those new final fantasy games. recommand this and that ff 16 can shove off
I played Final Fantasy XV back on the PS4 and didn’t realize how much better it could be on PC!
The enhanced visuals and performance really take the experience to another level. I’ve missed playing this game so much,it’s truly a masterpiece.
For me personally, FFXV stands out as the best in terms of both graphics and storyline. A timeless adventure that deserves all the praise!
Final Fantasy: Lads Roadtrip Edition is a genuinely solid game, Square maybe took a couple liberties for this one which made it a rather jarring experience to hardcore FF fans but I personally believe it was all done really well, sound design, combat, story was all done amazingly in my opinion, however the english voicing a bit off in places as per usual. The free flow combat rather than turn based is a first for me in a FF title, considering most titles tend to stick to turn based with minor liberties taken (Look at Lightning Returns).
The story itself was amazing, fighting a tyrannical empire and all that fun stuff, Ardyn is probably the closest that Square has gotten to an antagonist feeling like Vaas from FC3 without it seeming forced or misplaced, honestly an all-time great villain for me.
A lot of fan favourite monsters are in the game which is nice, like Behemoth, Malboro, Tonberry and Cactuars (obviously) to name a few, Summons are always an awesome and cinematic treat in FF games, this one is no different, summoning Bahamut because Ifrit looked at you funny is a cinematic masterpiece, closer to the end of the game however, the difficulty ramps up incredibly fast, they hit incredibly hard and are absolute sponges for damage, fighting The Rogue and The Scourge near the end of the game were two incredibly difficult fights, being one tapped by nearly anything they did was not a fun experience when you out-levelled them by 8, they were a much more difficult battle than the actual final fight against Ardyn.
I know this isn't everyone's favorite FF game, however I thoroughly enjoy it and will replay again and again. First time trying the PC Port. Nothing game breaking when it comes to bugs or glitching so far. Will update if i run into any major issues.
Tried this game when it first released and couldn't get into it as I had no clue what I was doing. A few years later I saw it in my library and tried it again. So glad I did. This game had fantastic combat and an excellent story. One of the few games that made me cry. 100% would recommend.
Just remember to use the chocobo rentals around the map as I did not know about them till I was half way through the game.
Final Fantasy XV takes the legendary franchise in bold new directions, blending traditional JRPG elements with modern open-world design to create an adventure that’s grand, emotional, and deeply personal. At its core, it’s a tale of friendship, duty, and sacrifice, wrapped in the series’ trademark mix of fantasy and cutting-edge visuals.
You play as Noctis Lucis Caelum, heir to the throne of Lucis, as he embarks on a journey with his closest friends, Gladiolus, Ignis, and Prompto, to fulfill his destiny and reclaim his kingdom. What begins as a road trip filled with camaraderie and exploration soon evolves into a story of political intrigue, ancient prophecy, and personal growth. The bond between the four characters is the heart of the game, brought to life through heartfelt dialogue, small shared moments, and their evolving relationships over the course of the story.
The world of Final Fantasy XV is vast and stunning. From rolling plains and dense forests to bustling towns and ancient ruins, the game invites you to lose yourself in its diverse landscapes. The open-world design emphasizes exploration, offering side quests, hunts, and mini-games that enrich the experience. Fishing, cooking, and camping aren’t just side activities, they deepen the connection to the characters and their journey.
Combat is fast-paced and visually spectacular, blending real-time action with RPG mechanics. Noctis’s ability to warp around the battlefield and summon iconic weapons adds a layer of strategy, while the teamwork between party members creates dynamic and cinematic fights. The game’s massive, awe-inspiring summons, known as Astrals, are a highlight, bringing sheer spectacle to key moments.
The soundtrack, composed by Yoko Shimomura, is another standout feature. From the emotional piano melodies to the sweeping orchestral themes, the music perfectly captures the game’s mood and epic scope. Driving through the world while listening to classic Final Fantasy tracks on the car radio is a nostalgic touch that longtime fans will adore.
However, Final Fantasy XV is not without its flaws. The story’s pacing can feel uneven, particularly in the latter half where the open world gives way to a more linear structure. Some plot points and character arcs feel underdeveloped, though subsequent updates and DLCs have helped flesh out the narrative.
Despite these shortcomings, Final Fantasy XV succeeds in delivering an experience that’s both intimate and grand. It’s a game that thrives on its characters, its world, and its moments of quiet reflection as much as its epic battles and high-stakes drama.
For fans of the series and newcomers alike, Final Fantasy XV is a memorable journey. It’s a love letter to friendship, adventure, and the enduring legacy of the Final Fantasy franchise. Whether you’re fighting a towering behemoth, cooking a meal by the campfire, or gazing at the stars with your brothers-in-arms, Final Fantasy XV is a game that leaves an indelible mark on the heart.
“A Final Fantasy for fans and first-timers.” This tagline couldn’t be more fitting.
Finished the game way back in PS4, and decided to replay it again on PC... and man, the journey is still as emotional as ever.
Dark story (although the pacing and storytelling could be better), peak finale, great music, great combat, and the characters are "alive" and likeable. The open world aspect isn't that good, but kinda helped with the good gameplay and combat system.
One of the games that has multiple "layers" of finale, draws your emotion, and left a lasting impression. If you played MGS4 and Death Stranding, you'll know the feeling.
Overall a highly recommended play. Stick to the end, and you'll be rewarded.
I dunno. Complete or not, I love this game. Does it suck that you need to watch a movie, read a book, and get Episode Ardyn to get the full package? Well ... that depends on whether or not you're a lore junkie like myself. I'm fine with watching the movie, reading the book, and playing Episode Ardyn to get the full package because it allows the story to flourish and bloom. But that's just me.
This may be a touch unfair to say, but FFXV, at least for me, is the worst FF game ever made. This sounds hyperbolic, but I'll explain below.
The world depicted is beautiful, as can be expected with most FF games, and I enjoyed driving around the world taking in the sights. Also the Kingdom Hearts style combat system is pretty fun. I think my compliments end here.
As I played, I found myself increasingly annoyed by the lack of depth of personality from my team mates. Much like the Star Wars prequels, their archetype is their ENTIRE personality. Yes, I've watched Brotherhood, and to be fair, this added some depth to Prompto, but the others not so much. As an aside, the fact that anyone has to consume other forms of media to better understand the characters/world created in a game is an immediate failure on the part of the game devs.
As the game progresses, I find myself swamped by text dumps about the cosmology/religion of this world, concepts that after playing 75-80% of the game, am still wondering it's purpose to the overall story. I understand the concept of flavor text, but it still has to feel connected and pertinent to the world. Deus Ex: Human Revolution is a great example. The flavor text may not have contributed directly to the story, but it gave an interesting history to cybernetics in the world...
I guess I should add here that I'm a bookworm. I enjoy reading. I've easily spent thousands on books from Amazon and Kindle. That being said, unless it's a text based dialogue game like Stardew Valley or Earthbound, I absolutely DETEST reading in video games! It's a visual medium. Tell the story VISUALLY!!
I've watched Kingsglaive, as well, to better understand what's going on, and am still left with questions.
I get there's an ongoing war between Insomnia (magic users?) and Niflheim (Tech users?). I get that at the start of the game, Noctis is leaving his kingdom to marry his childhood sweetheart that also holds the title of the Oracle....
Why does Niflheim take issue with this marriage?
Why are these nations at war?
I get The Oracle is basically the Pope in this world, but what are her powers specifically?
Why are these powers important to the story?
Here is why I say this is the worst FF game. At one point, one team member is being pissy with the main character because he's depressed (SPOILER: the Oracle dies. Apparently princes aren't allowed to be human...) and another teammate has been blinded...yet wants to wander in a swamp with the team...while being a CLEAR liability....okay. = / Also, you can't run too far from him, or you'll be chastised. Yeah, that's fun, because all gamers LOVE tedium... anywho, while playing and growing frustrated with the loose plot and scattered concepts, I found myself reminiscing fondly on FFVIII and how fun that was... when I realized...FFVIII wasn't better. I head cannoned and mentally retconned so much of that story. XIII HAS THE SAME PROBLEMS.
The poorly written 2 dimensional characters.
The glaring plot holes.
The idea that overly complicated/convoluted = deep story.
All these years later, and there has been NO growth in the writer(s)'s capabilities.
This game is the worst for me not just because this game annoyed me, but because it removed the rose colored lenses from most of the franchise for me. There are some decent installments, but the quality of the stories dropped dramatically after FFVI.
I tried to push past this realization and attempt to enjoy the game for it's exploration/combat/finding recipes and this was fun for a while, until I reached a part where you play Noctis by your self working up a tower. Suddenly, FFXV wanted to try it's hand at horror. 'Cuz when someone play a FF game, they NATURALLY think horror. = / To be fair, the idea in and of itself isn't awful. Under the right circumstances, this might be cool. But in context to the story I don't think it added anything. Yes, the main villain re-animated the enemies, and maybe this could've worked if the reanimated enemies were human, or at least organic and were brought back as zombies, or something. The enemies here are robots. Not creepy. No atmosphere. It was jumpscares for the sake of jumpscares.
This was the final straw for me. I've tried for YEARS to like this game, but after realizing that the devs were so focused on adding bells and whistles than focusing on fundamental things...like a COHERENT STORY, I'm tapping out.
If you're somehow hellbent on playing this (WHY?), wait for a sale.
It's an insanely good game even in 2025. I picked it up at the winter sale, when I saw that Square games are on sale too. I thought in myself, that if it half as good as either of the two playable NieR games (f*** you NieR Reincarnation), then I will buy it. Currently I played out the story, and it's better than a lot of the newer games. Now my next target is to get 100% achievments, whats ain't gonna be an easy job, it deffinatly worth doing thanks to the nature in game.
So yeah, 10/10 Square Enix game still
My favorite FF game, love the animations, combat, openworld and music. just simply a fun game
Great game however its a real shame it wasn't allowed to show its full potential despite years of development. First played around 2016 when the game came out on Xbox One and still enjoyed it to this day replaying in 2024 last year as other parts such as the combat system and enemies are fun.
Highly recommend playing if you are able to pick it up on sale, despite being somewhat disappointing story wise.
Despite this game being objectively unfinished, containing a disjointed story that relies on experiencing outside media, and cancelled DLC, this is still one of the best games ever made. If you can commit to reading and watching all of the outside media, this game will take you on a rollercoaster of emotions and experiences.
It's pretty good,it has a pretty compelling story and is one of the best games to play when entering the Final Fantasy series.
Great game, even almost 9 years later. I originally played and finished this during its initial release window allll the way back in 2016 and had a great time with it then, even without the DLC to fill in the moments where the other bros leave the party. I think I am done playing it for now as it crashed during my fight with the adamantoise though lolol. Would def recommend to anyone looking for a decent time sink. 8/10. Better than XVI, has fishing minigame
I got to about Chapter 8 in 2018, but had to quit when my son was born. I picked it back up recently and have mixed feelings after beating it. No spoilers.
It's pretty, even though it's getting on in years. I feel like the open world really gets shoved to the side in the back half of the game, which is a shame because I really like it and felt there should have been more incentive to explore.
Story-wise... it's OK. The story is good, the end is rewarding, but there are a few weak points along the way where some more exposition would have been better for world/relationship building. Sometimes the cutscenes really don't flow together well, and the transitions can be a bit jarring.
Overall, I recommend, but would definitely wait until it's on sale.
Classic from my teenage years. Great story, fun gameplay.
Its really good, its weakest points are that you can tell the story is rushed and the fact that 90% of side quests are practically useless so my tip is to just enjoy the primary quests and the road trip.
Beautiful game, visually still holds up til today, I would even put it above the recent FF16 in terms of special effects for elements.
Biggest reason to play and continue are the friendship and brotherhood between the main casts, game itself is just okay but I wouldn't have continued if it wasn't for their relationship.
Music is amazing as expected from yoko shimamura.
DLC did cover some gaps but I wished they completed the game.
Overall would highly recommend and install the 4K pack for better visuals
Whether with or without mods, this game is a good time, filled with action, suspense, and humor.
ive been wanting this game since it came out and it has totally lived up to my expectations! 8/10 (those nasty mountain textures cannot be forgiven)
Good story, but last chapter is too long and unnecessary jumpscare
amazing game. it was amazing when i played it 7 years ago on console and even better now.
I went expecting to not like this game. Turned out to be one of my all-time favorite games. The PC version is a janky mess: you'll need a high end system and some time to install mods & tweaks to get it running acceptably, but once you do... it's worth it.
Best fishing mini-game ever.
I've never been a huge fan of Final Fantasy games, the combat systems in them have always been a huge turn off to me, but along comes FFXV and I loved it, finally a game in the series I can play and not just hope they release a movie or a book of to experience some of that top shelf fantasy writing.
Every second of it, the story, the environments, the cast, the visuals, the voice acting, the combat?
Brilliant.
I then sought out the series they did for it, which also was super fun.
The Kingsglaive movie as it's prequel was for my vote, better than The Spirits Within and easily on par with Advent Children.
2 NG+ runs later and I still find myself booting it up now and then just to run around in or do a few quests in, it's like that movie you saw as a kid and have watched 20 times because it just doesn't get old.
Please, Square Enix, do more FF games like this, this game is a gem, and if not for FFXV I'd have never had a doorway into Final Fantasy, as the old Turn based stuff and pause/menu style combat systems after it just... impossible to gel with for many of us and a huge barrier to entry.
While a lot of the older JRPG gamers didn't like 15 and I can understand why, as a relative newcomer to the franchise as since I saw it on the old cartridge systems I was always put off, it's the best entry point to date.
As much as I like Final Fantasy 15, Denuvo ruined it completly for me. Not only do stutters occur, it crashes on some scenarios of the game. I would like to enjoy the game in its full glory, without any prevention which eats my FPS away. If it would be possible, could you remove Denuvo for better performance from this game?
ok i've only gotten through chapter 2 so far and had to put it down (laptop felt like a volcano) but i think its pretty good so far. IMO this really does feel like they wanted this to be ff7 remake but i may be biased because this and that are the only two computer final fantasy games ive played bc everything feels like a precursor to the combat system there. the warp jump/weapon switching ability is fun to use but combat does feel slow at first but then you get used to it. controller wise i have to use keyboard and joycons bc for whatever reason it wont accept - or whatever is mapped to tab as an input and I cannot figure out how to fix that or if i even have enough buttons to do so but its alright since I play right at the laptop. I assumed I would be able to put graphics at full since its an older game but even at normal it does stutter a little bit but since its an open world game its fine im guessing its a ram/other limitation rather than my graphics. tbh i think for $15 this was a worthwhile purchase
Its a good game. Main story is just too short. However, the best game play is post game.
ignore the story and all the sidecharacters, these are the unfinished part of the game. Play the game for the chill roadtrip with the boys.
Soundtrack is amazing; Youll never be bored with hundreds of sidequests and the MSQ are very fun too! 5/5
A fun romp, but not the best Final Fantasy game by any stretch. The battle system is hard to grasp although not the worst. The story makes no sense if you think about it too hard, but it does feel like a road trip with the boys.
The characters are also pretty annoying but at some points the game lets you know that they're supposed to be annoying and that they'll grow, although that growth happens really fast at the end of the game and feels tacked on.
Visually and sonically it's great. Landscape is beautiful, the battles at least look epic, and the music is good. The map system also makes it feel like you're really moving around a large kingdom.
The game is worth it if you like FF games a lot (I do) but there are a lot of other FF games to play before this one.
It may be not as good as classic Final Fantasy standard but it's fun, fresh and relaxing enough. The gameplay is easy but you may feel the lack of depth and challenging. There are many combos to have fun with Noctis dancing around if you can master it but generally you can just beat anything by tapping. The characters are very likeable and investable. The story has weird pacing and requires other media to understand but you may like it when watching the whole. Highly recommend to play DLCs following every character when they leave your party for better story telling, probably except Episode Ignis and Ardyn for heavy spoilers. Overall it's a good emotional roller coaster experience. Totally not so bad when getting it on a sale.
A game that you need to study history of XD XD
