Overall, I would recommend the game as a 6.5-7/10. It's enjoyable, but does have some flaws I find very irritating and really could've used more polish besides the "true canon ending" type DLC being canceled/never release. I enjoyed the story enough and the character cast is pretty good, though to fully understand everything you need to do a multi-media dive and not everyone likes that. The music is great, the villain is cool, and it's visually very pretty. I got my copy for $16 with the DLC.
Re: flaws, most of my complaints are centered around the camera being an absolute dumpster fire in narrow areas (which multiple of the dungeons consist of). I'm not necessarily a fan of the pacing for some of the puzzles in the dungeons since waiting for them to open/move ends up feeling more tedious than anything else. On top of that, the jump/interact button is very non-responsive and made for a few really annoying parts where you needed to interact over a chasm (that you can fall into) but the character model won't properly get close enough without being finnicky. The battle system is... fine? It's not that complicated, I personally think it's a bit shallow and easy, but it's not inherently a negative. It's worth noting that I tend to do my first playthroughs under leveled early on.
The movement needs some polish outside of battle. It's clunky. There's no indication of stamina usage despite it being a mechanic. I don't mind exploring big landscapes on foot, but sometimes it was just a pain.
My last 2 complaints - 1) it does that thing games do where some characters you have to walk with go slower than your running but faster than your walking. It doesn't seem to effect much this time around, but it feels like lack of attention to detail and it's a pet peeve in games for me. 2) the open world feels a bit empty for my tastes, though it's certainly not the worst offender for that.
On the flip side, I enjoyed lots of the tougher battles and the bigger mobs of enemies where I actually had to properly manage the battle system more actively, I do think the game gets better as it goes on. I expect a default level of mild teenage angst style cringe from FF characters, this game is not bad on that front. I feel like conceptually it was a good step forward for the series, it just felt like it needed an extra layer or two of polish for the movement/battle system to smooth out some inconsistencies, weird things with issuing battle commands to allies, etc etc. For $16, still well worth the time I've put into it so far, so worth picking up on sale if you're a fan of the series.
quando tu deixa o cabelo crescer pra ser igual o noctis mas so te chamam de protagonista de hentai
I really do like the game, but it crashes too often for it to be an unnoticeable problem; save and save often if you still wish to proceed with your purchase.
great story line
This is a great game. I finished this after finishing Final Fantasy 16.
Pretty good story, good vibes, pretty good graphics, gameplay is engaging although the camera often refuses to show the action in a coherent manner.
INSTALL THE SPECIAL K MOD, all it does is improve the windows performance and it does wonders (60fps & stuttering -> 120 flawless) don't wait until the final hours of the game before doing this like me
always been a fan of the style of this specific ff game, just love the enviroments and the way they mix the modern stuff with the rest of the world
the story is pretty good (the usual final fantasy kind of story. trying to save the world and all). The gameplay tho, not really. this game is basically hold one button to keep attacking and press another to dodge. i spent more time on exploring and doing side quest than the main quest itself (yep. the majority of this game is exploring with your friends). overall, this game is a 6/10 from me. not a bad game, but clearly not the best final fantasy i'v ever played
A wonderful story with unforgettable characters and an amazing OST. The combat is addicting and fluid, and the areas of the game are beautiful. Doesn't get any better than this. 10/10
ITS PEAK.
felt rushed near the end but i dont gaf. i love the characters and played all their episodes.
this was my first final fantasy game and i am eager to play through more.
你的第一部最终幻想就是最好的最终幻想,因为SE会越做越烂的
I've been playing Final Fantasy games since the release of FFIV (FFII in the west at the time) on the Super Nintendo.
As a long time fan, who has been played every game in the franchise at least once, it is hard for me to give a complete thumbs up on XV.
I like FFXV, I do. But that comes with some caveats Final Fantasy XV is a good game, but that doesn't mean that it is a good entry into the Final Fantasy franchise as a numbered mainline title.
The game at launch was an unmitigated disaster. Later on, after countless updates, bizarre choices for story DLC, (which was given out piecemeal - terribly handled, wasn't included into the main story, forced you to purchase content that should have been in the game from the start) missing content that was later included in the "Royal Edition," and "Windows Edition," and other various wacky non-consumer friendly practices later, it slightly improved and became a fair and somewhat decent product.
But what was most grievous of all was the fact that, after nearly a decade in development hell, after re-branding itself as XV (originally was Tetsuya Nomura's fever dream, Final Fantasy Versus. XIII,) they never actually finished the game, and instead decided to "finish" the story through a half-baked novelization.
Square did us dirty with this game, and long time fans like myself took eons to forgive Square for what was supposed to be 15, what it was, and what it became.
That being said, about the game itself:
-Combat is standard action game hack and slash with mild FF based magic systems. But arguably a pretty cool teleportation and party step-in mechs.
-Story is kinda all over the place, clearly missing lots of content and some of the best parts of the story itself is locked behind separate DLC side missions (that were at one point PAYED DLC)
-Music is absolutely phenomenal, and might be one of the best OST's in the series that wasn't created by Uematsu or Soken.
-The characters are honestly really enduring, and probably the single best part of the game. You spend every moment with them, boys out night, 4 dudes on a roadtrip together, it's great, it's cute, and it's emotional. The main cast are already established as best friends, deeply connected to one another, and throughout the game and through everything they endure, they share their vulnerabilities with one another, and these bonds REALLY get to you and dig at your heartstrings. I found myself crying more than once. These bros aren't afraid to be emotional, and that's rare to see such raw depth in male characters in JRPGS.
Overall, XV is a good game. Well, it became a good game. But it's missing a lot of content and requires you to watch the prequel movie and anime, and the follow up novel in order to really get the full scope of things. But, it's a hit or miss FF title. I still say give it a shot, at the very least you'll have a fun and emotional roadtrip with some wholesome dudes.
7/10 - Prompto is your pet Golden Retriever on an adventure to reestablish a monarchy and hang out with a bunch of your dead ancestors. Just let him take all the photos he wants, he's been through enough.
This game has pacing issues, especially in the latter half. Still it remains a great game with some of the most emotional moments in a series renowed for them. The port is one of the best SquareEnix has done in recent years. I recommend watching the Kingslave movie before playing it.
Definitely has issues but a fun game overall, overhated imo though I understand why people didn't like it. It's just a super cozy vibes game for me, don't need to think about anything too much, just sit back and enjoy the spectacle and characters
Overall, I really enjoyed this game. The characters and the game world setting were fantastic and really sparked my imagination. The gameplay was decent, not amazing but definitely fun. However, the biggest downside was the incomplete storyline, especially towards the end where it felt rushed and the gameplay changed. This shift significantly decreased my enjoyment of the game.
This is the first game I've ever played of Final Fantasy .
The open world exploration is sooooo fun. Doing side quests and leveling up almost
felt addicting to me. I love all the characters introduced and I actually cried at the ending of
this game , which I haven't really done to many games I've played in the past.
The replayability is strong in this one, as there's always something you can do that
you might've missed out on in the past. <3
Flawed story execution but ultimately a very fun combat system with great depth to master.
Great potential, poor core, mediocre finish. A very atypical FF experience for me, and sadly not in a good way. The game is like standard, and that's not what I expect from a Final Fantasy. You pay for an apple, but you get a pear instead.
I enjoyed the graphics, most combat, some music tracks, and as a long time fan of the series beating as many foes as possible.
Actually, the game has a lot of good ideas, but yet at least 45% of the time it feels messy. The camera can be chaotic quickly in combat. The skill tree is very poorly designed and I didn't feel much differences in character evolution throughout the entire run. I couldn't appreciate the use of summons either and the magic system is just too wtf.
The game is pretty well rendered. Nice bestiary for example, or nice spots out there. But that doesn't make it a good game. Level design is average. As for the story, there are a lot of plot holes, and apart from a few well-constructed passages, I was bored most of the time.
Worth buying at large discount, to perhaps appreciate the influence of Japanese pop fashion culture. When you think of what this franchise used to be in terms of gameplay, menu-driven battle preparation and world design, it's really become laughable.
this is my third time playing the game. but this might have been my favorite run yet. genuinely.
I followed through the story in its chronological order, from the trailers of the game to the novellas from the book. I played through every chapter, every episode, even the multiplayer DLC that i hate so much, but i had an amazing time playing and really thoroughly going through every single plot point to understand the story.
This game is now apart of my Top 3 favorite FF games ever.
When i first played the game i didn't understand the story at all so i rated the game quite low. The second time i played the game I still got the same feeling that I had when I played the first time but some of the plot got slowly cleared up for me.
But i guess third times the charm because this experience was amazing. I understood everything in the story and it was very enjoyable to learn the lore properly.
While i am still sad that Episode Noctis, Luna, & Aranea got canceled and became apart of a novel it was still an enjoyable experience.
9.5/10 the overall experience is not a perfect score due to bad performance issues
If you can power through the beginning, you're in for a great time
Story was simple but greatly told, in a way that made me experience very strong feelings about the characters and outcome.
In my opinion, watching FFXV Kingsglaive is not neccessary to understand the story, only fills some plot holes one may find if they think about how things come to be and adds a lot of depth to characters
It starts off rather slow and unfocused, feeling like a direction is not given exactly. That in tandem with early game combat can make the game feel 10x slower than what one can handle. But after a little while everything starts getting into focus, the story starts getting complicated with a lot of nice turns and twists.
Character development is outstanding, I've never felt the bond between characters as much as I have in this game.
Story in its entirety is a roller coaster of emotions due to the immersion it provides reaching the climax with the ending which made me very emotional. The story in its general concept doesn't have an innate complexity but that doesn't stop it from being extraordinary.
Sidequests' stories did feel a bit irrelevant and indifferent to me.
Gameplay and combat
I didn't like the beginning of the game at all. It felt very slow, tiring and not exciting, so much so that doing sidequests and hunts had me almost quit playing. After ditching those extras and focusing on the main story, though, unlocking main powers and features, everything comes together making the gameplay and combat very exciting and challenging. From traversing the terrain to fighting bosses, everything is made better as you move forwrards and acquire key powers and features. HP and Max HP system felt a bit confusing at first, as to what regens and what doesn't but that may have been just me.
Some parts of the gameplay such as cave traversing, town movement and others felt really slow as they take away some features that make you go about it faster (e.g. no point-warping in towns, caves where you press a button to squeeze through an opening and move slowly through it). Some of those add immersion but felt mostly boring and restricting to me.
Basically, leave sidequests and hunts for later in the game after you acquire cool stuff to make it actually interesting and faster.
I really wanted to get into the FF series but I believe this is not the game I should have started from.
Its just too many things wrong with this version. Too many graphics / resolution / optimization issues.
- to be able to run it on PC I had to force 1080p, and do not tweak anything in the graphics settings inside the game. If I did made any changes, the game crashed/closed on start. Setting resolution to 4k resulted in game not starting/closing. Happened many times and I gave up.
- even thought the resolution is 1080, i still get small frame drops on Windows (Ryzen 5 3600, RTX4060)
- on steam deck the graphics is very bad
- During the first tutorial i could not pass through the spell casting tutorial. The spells for whatever reason did not cast
While this game had incredibly high points, the flair wore off quickly.
The game is riddled with time-wasting side content that damaged my capacity to enjoy the game as a whole. I felt like I was supposed to be enjoying the story, but halfway through the game, I found myself lost with what the hell was happening in the story. I later learned online that most of the story is experienced through content outside of the main game. No thanks.
It took me a long time to enjoy the gameplay for what it was. By the end of the game, the pacing began to move at a breakneck speed, which I appreciated. Though, without an actual story present, there was only so much I could enjoy.
I think this game deserved so much more but it's plagued with modern gaming trends, such as time wasters and boring, generic sidequests. Lastly, and certainly not least: this is a terrible PC port. The performance and optimisation was the final nail in the coffin for me.
I really wish that we could have gotten a dense, high-quality, maybe more linear experience. Instead, we got a generic open world game with a few good aspects and a story that crumbles beneath it's own scope.
I really wanted to like it.
the gameplay itself is very good, but the main story is too short. it seems like after the Lady Luna incident you can't do open-world anymore. without a side story, you can complete the game in a short time. Why so rush to release the game? It's such a waste a good material like this game.
Even though it’s clearly an unfinished game, I can’t deny how rich and emotional the story is. The bond between the four main characters and the bittersweet love between Noctis and Luna really left an impression on me. I know it’s probably wishful thinking, but I can’t help hoping for a remake someday.
Originally purchased this game on PS4 and had a great time playing this game. But found the game to be more buggy on PC when comparing the two my PC would crash running this game which I found extremely considering my set up is beyond solid to run this game maxed out. I do love the added features to the game compared to initial release and its is a great introduction to a series that's been around since I was younger.
A beautiful, Half finished dream that deserved so much better than what it got. If you want the true conclusion, read the novels. Square Enix decided to screw us over and not give us the ending we deserved in game form, but in book form instead.
Amazing game, i played it and all of the dlcs and its worth it, im not a FF fan and ive only played this one and the remake of the 7th and this is the only ive completed and its a great game i can 100% recommend this game
This is the most best exploration and combat game you'll need to play, because if you have Nintendo WII U or Switch and started playing Xenoblade Chronicles series then you all have the idea of seeing the landscapes and picture takings; one more thing I'm a big fan of Final Fantasy because I clearly understand a lot of both Science-fiction & Fantasy.
I put off playing this game for years, Initially because I didnt like the aesthetic, then when i finally caved I didnt really like the gameplay loop it felt like an offline mmo, then when i finally tried it a 3rd time and got over it the game crashed and ran like shit. In 2024 with a very solid PC (7800x3d//4070tisuper) I finally played through to completion. The pacing has its flaws, half of the interesting story beats are not in the game or in a dlc and its not fully realized they didnt have long enough to cook. DESPITE ALL THAT I still highly recommend this game is a special experience that I dont think will really be replicated again by square enix or anyone else goin forward, its just good if your still on the fence give it a shot its worth it. Heres to hoping in 2034 theres a ffxv complete edition with the dlc's moved into the natural flow of the game and all the cut content realized it deserves it.
One of the best adventure type games out there. The visuals are stunningly beautifull. The story is way beyond awesome. The boss battles are super amazing. I recommend this game 100%. 9/10 from me.
This game surprised me. I took a long time to buy it because of the modern-y aesthetic and unusual presentation but immediately changed my mind once I started playing. Give it a chance if you've played the past games, don't skip the road trips early on and just enjoy your time while just stopping around to explore. The game does have an amazing story as well with outstanding delivery and ending that's on par with older games such as FFVI and FFVII. The characters will really grow on you if you play it slow and try to enjoy it as the friendship story it is. Finally, there's plenty of endgame content and the game will linger on with you long after everything is done. This is the closest FF got to fully immersing me in the same way as pre FFX times.
Story wise, it was too short. Game is filled with side quests, where they just tell you to do these stupid errands for 90% of the game, the open world is beautiful but really lifeless and bland. The story feels a little lacking but the dlcs do a decent job at fleshing out the main cast. It's a beautifully flawed game. One of my favorite entries in the franchise.
I fell in love with this game playing on XBOX and I fell in love again when I downloaded it for windows - only downside is my computer is not a gaming computer so it does glitch out fairly often but overall a great game, I love how many more features the windows version has over the XBOX version!
Honestly, The game was really good. Some flaws in the story-line, but the world is absolutely stunning. The only problem with the story was that the ending was super touching and captivating. But why couldn't the rest of the story be like that? The combat was really solid, I did slightly get bored of combat later in the game, but the royal sigil made me enjoy the combat again.
Game is good even in 2024 comrades have way better combat system but its short and pretty much dead
Felt way too short story wise, most of my play time I was doing side quests. Then thinking I could unlock better stuff to buy at the shop I would do more story, then not much longer was on the last chapter and game was over. Combat was ok, but never felt like anyone really did much damage. Seemed I was 10-20 levels over some enemies and barely did anything to them and they took me out in 2 hits. Wouldn't be happy paying full price, but for around 10$ I bought it for it wasn't too bad.
A very weak combat system is outplayed by a strong story of responsibility and brotherly love.
Played through the game and all of the short DLC missions. It took me a bit to get into the game and the very poor combat almost made me quit part way through. The combat feels very clunky and unfinished. Noctis never goes where you want, never dodges when you think he should and does very little damage. It feels like every enemy is a massive damage sponge that takes forever to take down. Easy mode doesn't change damage levels but instead auto revives you when you die. There are different types of weapons to use but they don't really help you in one way or another, so you just stick to one anyway. Running away and warp striking back is the best way to do damage but that isn't very fun. Link strikes are confusing and blindstrikes never seem to activate correctly.
Movement is a bit clunky. Noctis ALWAYS FUCKING JUMPS when you hit 'A' instead of picking up something on the ground. Controls are a bit weird as well. I played with the third scheme and it was strange. Holding both bumpers the whole game just didn't feel good.
Graphics are alright. Nothing crazy but it's been out for quite a while now so it was perfectly fine. Frame rates were ok. Not as good as I was hoping but SE isn't known for it's performant ports.
The story is really really strong. It was worth playing through for it. You kind of grow along with the characters. No details here to prevent spoilers but I really loved it.
I doubt this game is very pricy most of the time so I'd pick up and play if you are interested.
Story, characters, fights are perfect but standing above them all is adventure about 4 good friends that are more like brothers their story is shinning the most. Its enjoyable even more if you watched Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV movie and Brotherhood: Final Fantasy XV short anime that are rounding up and adding more to the story before the events of the game. Try it for yourself and enjoy the ride but don't forget to always fill up Regalia's fuel ;)
Greatest FF story, bad storytelling. The storytelling is scattered within game and the never mentioned: Movie, Anime, Comic, 2D Platformer
I really like this game, I've played it on my PS4, back when I had one. The graphocs are beautiful and the game is fun. It definitely feels different than other FF games I've played, which might be why so many people I've talked to about the game in person don't like it, but I personally like that it's a bit different. The road trip feel is fun. The fishing mechanic is fun. And I kinda like the combat system.
Eventually I'll finish replaying the game. I swear.
Once you get the hang of the controls and gameplay its a very relaxing and laid back RPG out of most games I played I really feel like this game embodies the saying of "It's about the journey and not the destination" very unique open world RPG experience!
whew...finally finish this game after more than 10 years of its original release. i must say, half part of the story really turned the game experience upside down. from a random worldmap roaming, side quests, grinding, lots and lots of hikes, into a mindblowing story and plot twists. as expected of final fantasy storyline. I really wish some part is different tho. but i guess good ending will not always be the best ending. goodbye Luna, Aranea, Cindy, Noct, Gladio, Ignis, Pronto, and Cor. Look forward to play Final Fantasy XVI next. I dont think i'll ever revisit World of Eos again....
It's kinda weird because the story feels week but the characters are fantastic and the gameplay is top tier. The issue is there are chunks of the story that aren't in the game. There's some videos on YouTube that help flesh out the main party. There's a not great but very pretty movie that helps explain a major plot point. There's a prequel game and the DLCs. All these thing make the main story fragmented so it feels like you're just fing around with your boys wrecking anything in your way and it's fantastic. I'm on my second play through and I got to chapter 4 and realized I was already level 40. There are 15 chapters and the last quest in chapter 14 has a recommended level of 45. I leveled past most of the content because the game is just too damned fun.
While it may not be a flawless masterpiece, Final Fantasy XV still stands as one of my favorite JRPGs. The music, the landscapes, and especially the characters are fantastic. The bond between the main group feels real, bringing the entire experience to life. It’s like joining a road trip with your closest friends,by the time you reach the end, you can’t help but feel emotional. I won’t lie I cried like a baby. This game has so much heart, and the journey was amazing.
600 hours of driving around, fishing, camping and chilling with the boys. I had a great time playing this game. Would do it again.
I've only been playing for two hours when I knew this was going to be one of my most favourite comfort games ever. And after 122 hours, I still haven't gotten bored of it and wish it would never end! Damn, this is such a beautiful gem.
FFXV is all about the journey and the memories you make along the way. A prince and his three best friends go on a road trip – which, of course, is not a real road trip: you’ve lost your home/kingdom, the prince is the Chosen One with a prophecy to save the world, enemy forces are chasing you and trying to take you down every two minutes, and demons rise at night – but while everything is a mess around you, you learn to appreciate and enjoy the small things. Exploring beautiful new places, eating good food, camping with your bros or staying in cheap motels, taking pictures together, driving the car while the sun is going down, going on monster hunts to help people, having a good laugh, and just enjoying the freedom and companionship.
I'd recommend this to everybody who likes action-RPG games which focuses on interactions and relationships between characters, because that's the essence of FFXV: the brotherhood and friendship theme. Noct and his friends really care for and support each other in a healthy and wholesome way that feels realistic - at the end, it feels like they are your own friends, they will grow on you so much.
You will also enjoy this game if you love to explore an open world, do side quests while listening to beautiful atmospheric music in the background, and casually kill monsters. If you like teamwork-based combat (no turn-based!) and would like to experience how fun it is to switch between characters in live combat. This is also for you if you like your heart being wrenched by angst but also love to have a good laugh at the smallest things. If you love to take your time and get immersed in a beautiful story.
This is NOT for you if you are impatient, don’t care about character bonding, and just want to fight or rush through a big epic story as fast as possible. Nope. This is the type of game where the journey is the best and most rewarding part. It's magical and comforting. A safe place.
Try it out and have the best time with the chocobros. And then start again, and again, and again. ;)
And from the DLCs, Episode Ignis is highly recommended!!! Don't miss it. :)) Or the 'Friendly Match' in that DLC, haha. (Which is like the best boss fight in the whole game, even though you are just fighting your best friend over eating his vegetables with a dramatic opera music in the background.)
This is my favorite Final Fantasy game, besides Dissidia 012 duodecim, and I like some of the mods I could get for this game. I still wish the cancelled DLCs for this game weren't cancelled, but this whole game is still really fun overall for me. And it's a good game to introduce to someone who doesn't like turn-based combat.
A roller coaster of thoughts
I was worried by the "open world" since recent games I've played had been very bland and padded like Spider-man and horizon, thankfully besides some fast-travel awkwardness the game is quite focus and open areas are mostly window dressing, if you want, there is some extra stuff to do, but not necessary. (To me all this paragraph is a plus for the game BTW)
The combat took me more than a while to get, a weird hybrid of action and some semblance of a JRPG that if you don't grasp quick might led you to a weird rhythm in battle. Not the biggest fan, but it worked out in the end.
The production values and plot is where it shines, after certain key points I was hooked and the game flowed quite fast, the shorter mainline FF if you only stick to the main plot.
This game was a bit of a wild ride. I thoroughly enjoyed the beginning of the game. The story was engaging and intriguing. The game did a great job of drawing me in and getting me interested in the world and characters. The combat took me a bit to get used to but once I got the hang of it I began to really enjoy it. Shortly into the game you get to the main open world area which is where the bulk of the game takes place. The open world parts were mostly fun but the side quests certainly began to drag on. I really wish there were less fetch style quests. Because of how the open world areas drug the game out I lost interest in the game and took a hiatus from it and came back a year later determined to finish it. From about Chapters 8 to 13 of the main story, I began to get really frustrated with the story. The game presents the story in a very disjointed fashion. Lots of events happen off screen and characters develop and change allegiance seemingly without explanation. The developers had this grand idea to tell the missing parts of the game's story in various movies, TV shows, and DLC playable campaigns that fill in all the gaps. This method of telling a story was EXTREMELY annoying to me. On top of the annoying story delivery, some of those chapters included "playable" parts where you had to walk or run for long distances for no real reason. It felt like filler. It almost made me want to quit playing again, but I toughed it out. And boy am I glad I did. This game had one of the most epic, most fun, best written, and best presented endings to a game I've ever seen. It was dramatic, engaging, interesting, fun, and I even got a little emotional at the end. They really finally got me to care about all the characters. I wish this whole thing could be turned into a chronological coherent movie that I could re-watch because the story is (when seen in order) so good, and the ending was even better. The final scenes were special, and I'll remember them a long time. There's even a little change to the title screen at the end of the game that, for me at least, was a meaningful and special final touch.
If you choose to play Final Fantasy XV I would recommend trying to do the campaign quests as soon as your level allows it so that you can spend as much time as possible doing side quests in the open world area in the post game with the Regalia Type-F at your disposal. This is a flying car and it makes traversing the world much easier, faster, and very enjoyable. Also be prepared to follow some guide to take appropriate breaks at the right times to play or watch the related missing story elements so that things makes sense.
My recommendation overall is to tough it out and finish this game. It is worth it. It is going down as one of my favorite game stories, although they definitely could have delivered it better, and I'm so glad I played it.
Ran a bit like shit and I didn't click with the combat system...
But it isn't a Creative Assembly game, so it's 10/10.
