It's an ok game. Unique Simtower-like format for a city builder. Gameplay is very simple for a city builder and the graphics are low end, even for when it was released in 2017 when compared to games like Cities Skylines and other large city builders.
Only a few small updates in the year following release with no new stuff added and long since abandoned by the devs. Various bugs remain unfixed and it could use some QOL updates, but that wont happen unless the devs return.
Worth playing? Yes, if you want a simple relaxing city builder to take a break from playing far more in-depth city builders.
But worth the $25 price tag? Hell no.
I first bought the game when it was released and was glad to pay the $25 then, hoping to see improvement and see it become a great game. I forgot about the game, fast forward many years, sad to see that nothings changed. If I were to buy it today, I wouldn't be willing to pay more than $5 for it.
This is basically Simtower and Simcity rolled into one. The gameplay is addictive, and it does make logical sense. This game is decent, but it could have been great... had the developers not abandoned it. The game is riddled with bugs, mostly annoying and possible to navigate around, but then it does crash once in a while, taking me out of the magic show. If the developers have any sense at all, they would return to this game and fix all the bugs, put out a public apology and watch the community grow. They just need a little patience with it.
The game is fine, a casual city sim, bought it at a discount.
The ui is fine, some menus and overall information displayed would need a revamp, some things are quite cconfusing....overall could be better.
The gameplay is highly simplified but being a vr game it is perfect as is.
Bugs, yes there are still bugs in it, and based on the timestamps on comunity discussion it might never see another update, that is quite sad because it doesn't really have a competition in its class of games, when it comes to vr games.
The dev(s) should consider that this game has the potential to bring in some more players but it is a type of game that needs slow and steady growth.
This is an lost underrated gem, a niche game, and for context I bought it based on youtube review done this year....
I absolutely love this game. There is 1 SINGLE bug that's extremely common where the thing you're about to place is no longer attached to your controller and you either have to painstakingly select it again by clicking on it or select it from the tree of menus. It's not that big of a deal, but it's annoying after a while.
Besides that small bug it's one of the most addictive and entertaining building games in VR that I own. It's incredibly and I truly recommend it.
Hate this game I looked really cool so I got it but when I started playing it for some reason you just get bored of it really fast.
games awsome. theres a real lack of these kind of VR games. honestly i dont know why i had to search so hard for this one.... its pretty awsome and deserves a look. maybe the price is a little high for some? for me its fine, becuase i have played it enough to not matter. alot more than some triple A titles for sure.
if its on sale, or if you like these kind of sims in VR (theres not many, this is definately one of the best and complete ones) then i could definately recommend it.
Very different kind of city building game where you build the whole city into one skyscraper. You need to think more in 3D than on regular city building games where you build on more or less flat land. It's fun!
Controls are just too painful to really make this an enjoyable game to play. Visuals are all right, concept is interesting, but ultimately just too rough and simplistic to be worth the asking price.
Recommended, but on sale. Only a few recoverable glitches here and there. can build VERY high. Have not unlocked everything yet, but can see a limitation after much more play.
Very well done.
wait until it is on a sale for $5
The game itself is OK, but it lacks depth and there are far better games out there for the money
I got a refund and I am spending it on other games.
Really buggy for a game "made for" Oculus with HTC Vive Wands as controllers. The controlls are a mess and remind me of Fallout 4 VR. Does not seem like a lot of content for TWENTY DOLLARS. I am going to return this, this is a scam that I regret buying. Price either has to go down or quality and quantity to do has to go up.
Dude, why the fuck is this like the only VR city-builder type game? Pretty good but there's not really enough here for a ton of engaging playtime. I have longed for a legit VR city builder since VR became a thing, why has nobody made one? I'd think that the people autistic enough to get a VR headset would have plenty of overlap with the people autistic enough to play strategy management game type shit, but no games bro, no games. Many days I think about how epic it would be to walk through the city you made in VR, regular person sized or giant sized, but simply no games bro. Tragic.

I'm a sucker for building games. This one just hit the right nerve for me.
The VR control interface is very intuitive. It works really well with the VR setup, you walk around your tower place the buildings with your hand, easy peasy.
The gameplay is simple but engaging. You bild up your floors, satisfy your inhabitants needs and unlock more and more different buildings, some of which actually are so tall, that they take up space on the floor above them. This makes the optimal placement of buildings a bit more of a challenge.
Graphicly Speaking it has a "comic" look to it and it has alot of details. You can "zoom" in and look at the interrior of the buildings which is a nice touch.
I think this is a pretty fun game and if one day you feel lazy and don't want to put on your VR gear and move around, you can just play it in desktop mode aswell. A good game, the price looks high for a vr game at first but there is alot of content here. Worth it in my book.
Adorable city builder which really shines in VR roomscale setup (a sense that can't be conveyed from mere 2D screenshots). Being able to move around the city and scale it up and down as desired makes it feel like a very satisfying toybox, and you can zoom in and follow your people around, or walk around your city like a giant.
I found the construction aspects the most satisfying as you get the sense of putting together a tower in virtual space. An appealing simulator which will appeal to those who are looking for a more relaxing, meditative VR experience.
Great chill soundtrack too!
Building on Monitor is good. in VR a bit confusing. Gets repetitive after a while.
Great nastalgic memories of playing City Sim builders growing up. It would be awesome to have the fun natural disasters feature like Godzilla or Alien space ships destroying the city. Pre-built cities would be cool too.
I have been waiting a while for a game like this for VR and I was not disappointed. I was on the fence about this one at first but this game is exactly what I was hoping it would be: a sim city/sim tower-style management game that feels great in VR.
I am hoping they make Rift/Touch-specific controls at some point (the time control menu feels a bit awkward) but as-is it works well enough that it does not detract much. There is a decent amount of content to work with and there are still some things I haven't unlocked. The goals and challenges really help with pacing so you pretty much always feel like you have something to work toward. I hope they continue to add and polish it going forward as it has a lot of potential but the core gameplay is solid as is. Overall: looks great, feels great, I'm having a blast!
This game checks a lot of boxes for me. when I first got a vive I was going into google blocks and building tiny low-poly cities out of bricks and making ugly trees - this game is very sim-tower-ish and you have to balance your residents desires and make something that's not ugly.
the team appears responsive thus far (review made within two weeks of launch)
if you like building towers and organizing things, you might enjoy this game. very fun design/concept. love the art, they've got the underpinnings, but I'm thinking they need to work a bit on the informational interface with the player to inform them of a few things better. overall, definetly worth the buy, if you're hesitant, wait a month and come back to see if the dev's have kept the pace up. concept and technology is all there for a great game, so far very fun even with limited info. reading the help page (stickied to this discussion forum) is a must. experimenting and trying over is a given for the first few runs. soon you'll be watching your little guys wander around your parks and buildings with a smug contentment as you construct your gleaming testament to man's folly.
If you like Sim Tower, you'll like this game!
I took the gamble and decided to snag this game on launch. I enjoyed Sim Tower when I was younger but wondered what it looked like from the people's point of view. Now with Skytropolis, I can in VR!
Graphics/Performance
The game has clean graphics, probably to reduce the amount of processing when there are a lot of objects in view. Even with my GTX1080, I still experienced some judders and slow framerate when a bunch of stuff was in view. I was running on the beautiful setting though which I'll adjust next session. The style is very minimalist but works well. The people are silhouettes but I wish they had some sort of smiley or sad face on them to gauge how the general population feels. I also wished they would interact with the recreational buildings like seeing tennis players on the tennis court. If you like to min max your floor layouts, you'll have a hard time squeezing your head between the chunks of buildings you placed when you need to revisit that floor.
Gameplay
The balanceing of the people's needs are similar to other building simulation titles where you have to build homes when the housing need is high, offices when business demand is up, etc. The game also has challenges allong the way that spur you along with money rewards. If you do like to min max the layout, you'll have a fun time trying to see how much you can optimize the space in relation to the size of the buildings you can place. It's enjoyable in VR and the controls work very well for this type of game. Your left hand acts like an easil but with building types instead of paint. Your right selects from the types and places them in the world.
Final Thoughts
For around $20, I think it's definitely a good value. I'm really excited to see something other than wave shooters or jump scare games in the VR store. 2 thumbs up!
Loved it, been waiting for something like this in VR. The idea of the roomscale skyscraper makes so munch sense given your playspace. More complex and detailed than i expected. a couple of glitches but otherwise good. Great job!
