Don't buy unless it's for the badge!
Despite the badge for this game being super cute (and literally the only real reason to purchase), this game was extremely disappointing and fits the "break-up" genre horribly. The story telling is super strange and doesn't have much cohesiveness. All of the characters seem like they were written from a child's point of view who has never been in a relationship, and I do not say this as an insult. Rabbits favorite vegetables is lettuce and greens, not carrots despite popular belief and depiction in media like this. Very cute visually at least.
Short, silly despite itself, and the characters are awful people for no reason.
This is a beautiful game with an emotive, compelling story. I have enjoyed playing it so far. I have not yet made it to the end.
made me feel scared, depressed, sad, and empty in the ending
very short game
its not happy, its very very sad
im sad.. :(
I can confidently say that it's a game that manages to enchant players with its charming and adorable style. The game's simplicity and unique experience are what truly make it stand out.
Playing Rabbit Story made me feel like a child again, with its lighthearted storyline and cute graphics that reminded me of the games I used to play when I was young. Despite its short length, the game's enjoyable puzzles and activities, along with its pleasant music and cute dialogues, make it a truly enjoyable experience.
The only issue I had with Rabbit Story is that it's over too quickly, with a rather abrupt ending that leaves you feeling like the story is unfinished. However, despite this drawback, the game is still worth buying, especially if you can find it at a discounted price.
This was on my wishlist for a while, and I got it on sale. Now that I've played it I'm looking back and thinking... 'WHY did I wishlist this?'
I think it's because the trailer video made the game look like it involved exploration and gathering things with a little animal friend. Instead it's 100% linear and you're just answering trivia questions or clicking to move around to get to the next part of the narrative. The narrative itself is fairly minimalist relationship stuff. Opportunities to wander off the main path are limited to the occasional hidden carrots, which can be collected to unlock a bonus level.
The visuals are cute, the music is cute, the critters are cute. The game can be played through in about an hour. It's also boring and I wouldn't recommend it.
Cute boring mouse clicker with decent boring music. Played it to chapter 12 until I quit.
The story is meh and tells wrong things on how one should end a relationship (hint: do not leave without a trace IRL).
If you like to don't have to think while playing and have only one arm with only one finger for the mouse clicker, this game is for you. Buy it when it's 50% off or more.
Wonderful game !! Especially for an indie developer ,, the music , the atmosphere and the graphics are so simple and beautiful . I love the little story line and I cannot wait for a sequel if they ever decide to continue the game ^^
~ thank you ,
Disappointing. Pretty enough but the story isn't compelling, the minigames are annoying and don't fit the mood of the wider game, and I feel like I wasted my time with this.
Extremely sad story about lazy, dull rabbit and his thoughts about carrot and relationships. Grafics, especially weather (I mostly liked snow map and prickly forest with mushroomes) is very beautiful, dialogs is simple and minigame with racing can cause epileptic seizures. Love it anyway.
Wish kind of weird joke is this game? Clearly a Kid game when you look at the visual theme, game-play and control... but only 7 minute in, a Bear ask me 3 question about Science and Space... and if I got one wrong.. need to do it over and over? What kind of weird Game Design, why making a game who visually look for kid, easy control, cute character.. but boom! Talk me about planet size, black hole and Einstein!!??
Didn't thought it to be possible to fail this hard in a game... I mean work harder on the game and make it less child like/cute.. and maybe you will get your target audience...lol absolutely ridiculous!
It's a weird game. The graphics and design are beautful and there is a story but it also feels kinda empty. The final chapter is glitchy af..
i cannot tell what rabbit story's target demographic is.
rabbit story is a short adventure game where you play as a rabbit going through heartbreak and rekindling.
pros:
-the game's graphics are cute. i had to play on high as opposed to maximum graphics because they were an eyesore. i think it's pretty because of the asset packs used.
-the controls are easy. you only use your mouse controls
cons:
-again, i can't tell who the demographic is. it has the appearance of it being for kids, but some of the music and story parts make it seem like it should be for a more mature audience. i don't think this is a game that does that necessarily on purpose and in a way that works.
-the story. of course, this is a game about friendships. the rabbit forgets his friend's birthday, she leaves, and he finds someone else and ends up leaving her as well. but it's just...not very done well. everyone in the game acts too out of impulse (i.e. the rabbit decides to leave his doggy friend because he didn't want to make a snowman and he feels like that means he can't be friends). there's also tons of weird bits of lore thrown in that don't make sense. why were there these northern borders? what's with the ghosts? what's with blackwood? what's with the forest or the ruins?
-with that, the worldbuilding in general is really weird. if it's a cutesy animal game, the teleportation of duck and the random 80s styled video game that the rabbit can play break immersion into a fantasy animal world.
-it was just...boring.
-the "bonus stage" is pointless and really only good for the final achievement. it's not fun, as you're just collecting carrots.
did i enjoy this game? no. it was very cute at first, with the rabbit having to answer questions (they aren't riddles, they're science quiz questions) to get a present for his friend, which then spirals into this...mess. there's references in here, like to salvador dali, for no real reason other than references. that can be useful, but when you put a blue door in the middle of a clearing that just teleports you to somewhere with a melting clock, it's slightly absurd. the story ends flat. you feel no sympathy for the main character. i don't care about anyone here.
Rabbit Story on steam is a videogame featuring a contemplative colorfully designed atmospheric sorta like typed out
adventure that brings a story about a bunny and his relationships with a smokeless indoor cat...or a outgoing red flappy ear bunny girl that wants to do inspired creamy sensational events that are hard working and the main character just wants the
bongo orange cutting carrots to snack on without spending time with these side characters!!!
First of all the music is grand and i think thats what makes this game special for a one time only exclusive! Is it worth a dollar u bet..but i wouldnt go over a dollar..its a really short game and i give the placeholder credit to a one man job that did pretty good but theirs nothing really groundbreaking and original as creativity pleasure!!!
And the ending lets just say its pretty bad in hopeless wishes!!!
Some cool charcoal minigames that deliver the slenderize doubts u have at first with the game!!!But the ghost flashlight minigame is the best because its entertaining and
frantic at post-squat thrusting times!!!
The graphics are sleek screened into the most capability for most compounded computers
with neutrons of bells and whistles!!!
Casually enough anyone can play this!!!
I say pick it up when its on sale and maybe u'll change your mind and think what my mind was spinning a globe
hugely with a fantastic interesting game design mechanic!!!
I give this game a 8.5/10 nothing but to play it once and get some free time wasted into a rabbit bucket of flavor
pinges love the burrito master!!!
Putting the graphics and input issues aside, this game was just...bad.
I had no sympathy for the main character, as their problems were caused by themselves (I guess that's a spoiler but oh well). The idea was cute, but executed poorly.
The graphics were also cute. But here's about how this went for me.
-Couldn't move the fullscreen game to my other monitor.
-Focusing on a different window caused the fullscreen game window to rapidly blink with green overtones, only fixed by exiting fullscreen or restarting the game.
-Exiting fullscreen doesn't guarantee that the game will stay centered or in a way that you can see the whole game.
-Attempting to drag the window will only cause the window to jump down- IT WAS NOT MOVEABLE. Clicking the top bar of the window caused the game to capture the mouse.
-The car minigame did not register all mouse clicks. It also did not have an option to provide arrow-key input because the whole game is played with the mouse.
-The ghost minigame slowed by mouse sensitivity so badly that in order to succeed and aim in time, I had to move my keyboard off my desk so I had room for my mouse.
-The "riddles" WERE NOT RIDDLES. They were questions about planets, electricity, and other science.
I only got this because it went on sale, but after playing it I've requested a refund.
I really enjoyed the game and truly felt what the little rabbit is feeling. It's cute, but also very deep and somehow depressing as it deals with loneliness and abandonment.
BUT: I'm a bit frustrated after I finished playing because the ending is very sudden and it leaves a lot of questions unanswered. Also I bought it on sale and I guess I wouldn't have payed the full price.
So, I would recommend it if you want to play a short little game with cute graphics and a deep story which might leave you a bit sad.
I LOVE this type of game. It's basically an interactive story, and it's lovely. I love the art style and it hits the cuteness quotient. The visual level variety and portrayal of emotions is exceptional. The snow level is what it feels like to be lost. The rain level is what it feels like to be sad. And so on. My first playthrough was about 80 minutes. I stuck around to find all the carrrots and see the secret level and it took me a little under 3 hours to get 100% achievements. There are elements of a walking simulator here, but that is broken up by a couple of minigames and a couple quizzes (which are endearingly mistranslated as riddles). There are a few tiny grammatical errors here, but I'm thankful to have an English version of such a wonderful game. The simplistic walking controls weren't always as smooth as I would have liked, but it wasn't much of an issue until the carrot trial. I can easily recommend this game, but I think the better price point is around $5, so watch for a sale. [spoiler] I was a little disappointed the secret level didn't progress the story any further. I was hoping Doggy would come after him.... {/spoiler]
Honestly... games like this really make me yearn for a neutral recommendation option.
Is this a bad game? No, not really. It's not a cheap underhanded grab for trading card money or twee achievement spam. It's got heart and effort put into it. You can tell the developer cared for the world and the story they were crafting.
Is it a fun game? Once again, no... not really. As someone who enjoys walking simulators I know my standards are considered to be pretty low, but this game isn't really fun to actively interact with. It's mostly fetch quests -- pick flowers, chop wood, harvest mushrooms -- interspersed between exposition and lots and lots of mouse-controlled, somewhat fiddly, slow-paced walking, and while there are some minigames to break up the pattern... I only particularly enjoyed one of them.
But really, I think the main quibble with this game -- and I want to stress that it isn't a problem, just my own personal taste at work -- is that I went in expecting something cute and fun, and I was instead met with existential angst.
This is a game about depression and bad breakups. This is a game about how poor choices lead you to loneliness and regret. This is a really quite sad game wrapped in a ridiculously cute candy-coated shell and my god is it bleak. This isn't to say that a cute game can't have deep themes! Simply that I wish they had been better conveyed at the time, because I picked this up for something relaxing and I've been left feeling rather like a deflated balloon -- and the lackluster and rather abrupt ending is not helping matters. You will not leave this game with any sense of catharsis whatsoever.
For anyone that's been drawn in by the really quite wonderful graphics, they're a little intensive on the highest settings -- but honestly the gameplay is so simple that you won't even notice framerate skips in my opinion. Additionally, the game did hang once a little after I first opened it -- but it righted itself, so I don't think it's noteworthy enough to put off a potential buyer.
I would say this is appropriate for kids as it is completely G-rated (minus some potentially scary ghosts), but as far as the subject matter goes? At best they will get bored; at worst, they'll be sad, and the ending will probably leave them wondering if the game isn't complete. Don't be fooled by the cutesy and colorful graphics: this game is not targeted towards younger players. Older players might feel some relatable emotions from it, however -- longing, loss, regret, and a sense of not belonging with the people you love. It's really quite poignant, but the ending mars the overall emotional delivery in my opinion.
But is this a bad game for those reasons? I want to say no, honestly. The creator clearly put a lot of care and heart into it despite its shortcomings. It looks great, and it's not badly designed. The gameplay is simple enough that anyone can play it, and honestly, the fact that it isn't a cash grab stuffed with achievements or microtransactions -- it's a breath of fresh air in spite of its faults. I think it's simply not for me, at the end of the day.
That said, I would recommend purchasing this title on sale if you're interested in it, because it definitely does not have enough content to justify this kind of pricetag.
In all... I cautiously recommend this game for really only a few people -- those who want something casual and low-effort, something that looks good but lacks substance, and who doesn't mind bleak or depressing stories with subjectively unsatisfying endings. Because it really isn't a bad game... for the right person.
Thank you for reading.
Love love love this game. Great story and atmosphere, would recommend it to everyone I know.
BUT, $9 is a bit high for only and hours worth of gameplay, I bought it on sale for $5 and that's definately worth it.
though you do get extra content in if you replay it and collect all the corrects in the level you get a special level
I played the demo a while back and fell in love with it there. But now we get to find out what really happened between Rabbit and Kitty.
If you wanna see gameplay of it I played the first 5 episodes in this video

As for the game its cute, whimisical and seems like a game that can played by pretty much anyone.
I like how you guide Rabbits movement by clicking with the carrot and overall movement is pretty smooth. Also, the mini games and having to find all the carrots to unlock a "secret" level will have me playing this game more than once.
Overall I would recomend it to anyone who wants to play a laid back game with some cute AF characters.
In this game you play as a cute bunny so that's what made me buy it! But honestly it's a really short but sweet game. The ending was a bit abrupt though and it's only about an hour long.
I played the levels again to get all the carrots and unlock the secret super carrot level!
So cuteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
It was a very short (only takes an hour to complete) game that tugged at your heartstrings a lot. Cute and easy to play, though the ending felt like it needed more. I wasn't even sure it was the ending until the credits started to roll and I was like 'what? that's it?'. It was kind of confusing and felt like it needed more elaboration.
All and all: cute, sad, short, ending felt missing.
