The goal is simple: don't hit anything. But it may not be that simple, as the world starts closing in around you, pulsating in time with the music while simultaneously starting to pulsate to the beat of the music. Inspired by games like Terry Cavanagh's Super Hexagon, Freefall will take you to a surprisingly zen-like state of mind as you navigate through its endless canals.

A great game for the cheap. I would appreciate Linux support and better performance though. It isn't great for laptops. Any less than the RTX 2070 gpu in this laptop I would imagine not as enjoying.
I love it
Very fun game, great to play while you're high :)
For those considering this game, Freefall has controller support but I personally found using a controller to be difficult. Just a heads up.
Freefall I think is the wrong title. You can't fall if there is no down (and no gravity). Maybe Propulsion? The premise of the game is that you are flying through a field of implicit surfaces and avoiding them for as long as you can. Design-wise it is similar to Super Hexagon as the designer and everyone else point out. An arcade game that through attrition and repitition seeks to train your senses and reflexes to adapt to its bizarre interaction. There are no hit points and no checkpoints and your highscore is measured in time.
Thematically though it is quite different. Super Hexagon was all about rotation. You needed to learn to detect orientation and direction through the cacophony of distractions the game throws at you. Freefall is more concerned with path-finding. You need to find a safe path through the game's cave-like structures kind of like the way water flows down a stream. Directing yourself towards an open hole in a world closing up is visually and mechanically pretty cool.
I think this can't be understated. Most twitch arcade games are technically competent but don't have compelling enough systems. (I'm personally thinking of One More Line.) But Freefall does. The way the environment is generated allows for pretty expressive play. You have a lot of control of which path you want to choose - with a plenty of wiggle room - when you get good enough at it. It's still not in a finished state, though it has a lot of potential.
I like to collect colorful, simple-design, good-soundtrack, fast-paced arcade-style games. This game caught my eye and I bought it up, but I found it did not initially have an option to invert the Y axis, which is critical for my brain in a piloting game. The developer responded personally to my feedback and added the feature in the last patch, as well as VR support and a ton of other features. The work put into this game has greatly improved the experience and definitely made it worth the purchase to me. Also fun on steamlink!
I like it. What could be better is more depth in the field, so you can see the structures better. You need the better graphics settings to see the shapes anyway. I guess Q and E go between different modes. Please explain what they are. On one i get sudden movements to the sides, and here the graphics quality is not good. Also clicking on the RMB gives game over. Not fun if you accidently do this.
one of the best games i've ever played, anyone with the slightest love for challenge should absolutely try this.
it doesn't run thaaat well on toasters but you'd still get enough fps to go on with it
Buy! Buy! Buy!
I love games that challenge your dexterity and try to keep pushing you to beat your previous scores and times and this little gem is pushing me to improve after only a little time playing.
It is highly addictive and yet frustrating at the same time and I still want to play some more.
This game is spending easter at Clint Eastwood's house.
