If you're a music enthusiast with severe ADHD like me, I think you'll enjoy this.
Game's pretty good it is pretty cool
Great fun game, unique experience
it just isn't fun
I finally bit the bullet and bought it and it is 100% worth it.
probably the only rhythm game I will ever enjoy lol
Candy crush and Beat saber but better
I played Audiosurf 1, then I played Audiosurf 2... then I preferred Audiosurf 1... then I played more Audiosurf 2... then I preferred Audiosurf 2.
Good game btw.
QuestViewer issue. Can't enter the game
"You wish to play, so let us play. I shall tell you a riddle. Solve it, and both you and Olgierd will be free."
"And if I don't?"
*laughing* "Then we'll all three go for a wild ride! It's what you proposed, is it not?"
"im gonna leave a negative review because this game that game out in 2008 doesnt support a music file format not officially released until 2012" -some dude from uruguay
Great game, but opus is superior to mp3 (less size, same quality), and it's not supported in this game. I'm not converting all my music library to mp3s for this game.
For now I'll refund it. If Dylan ever implements support for opus, I'll buy it again and change my review to positive.
This game still slaps in 2025..rewind selecta :)
Fun, when it works. Crashes a ton, which I assume is because the game was designed with older hardware in mind. The only way I can play it without it crashing is to set the game to run on integrated graphics.
Holy shit this game is addicting
I think games like AudioSurf deserve an award simply for existing for us exclusively PC gamers.
Allow me to clarify; I recently visited a vintage arcade hall and I have never played any music-based arcade games apart from those machines where you dance and stomp on the arrows showing on the screen.
Long story short, I got instructed to try a few different games with different playing methods and while this is getting awfully off-topic now, I felt genuine joy and a bit of nostalgia despite not being familiar with many of the games there. Which is when I realized:
The nostalgia was because I got transported back to my teens playing AudioSurf after school, blasting my favourite music and trying to miss the grey blocks despite often failing to do so.
So yeah. That’s the review. AudioSurf may be old as rocks (like me), but it was my jam. And I recommend it wholeheartedly, not only because of the nostalgia but because the core gameplay just works; You hit a block, you hit a block. No surprise ”how on earth did that count?” etc. It just works.
played the demo a fuck ton on my old laptop, and this game was one of the first games I ever bought on Steam
slow songs aren't the best on this, made for EDM and adjacent music and it shows
but damn did it feel good to play Casiopea (especially Sailing Alone!!) Still Alive, and a song by Midori that nearly broke my speakers on this thing
I wish the leaderboards were still up, but those seem to have been down for a while?
Leaderboards or no, this game is still fun. PLAY IT!!!
It's an older game, sir. But it checks out.
i first found this game when i was young and got my own laptop. played this for many many hours. now maybe once every few months i see this in my library and play a round. its like coming back to an old friend. its exactly as it used to be. the only thing changed now is that theres barely any audio files to play left lol
i have had no errors so far, really cant complain.
frutiger aero game like visualizer hybrid. I know that seems like a mouthful, but I highly recommend this blast from the past!
This game is such an evergreen concept of importing songs to create rhythm game tracks. I played this religiously as a teen on another account. This is the millennial's version of beat saber on the heels of Guitar Hero popularity at the time. An OG rhythm game that holds up today and is still being updated! Absolutely amazing. It's still as visually mesmerizing and gets you into a flow state so fast.
And for those who might find this game but were born into a generation where media ownership doesn't exist anymore and nobody has local files - If you happen to "find" some local files but have the issue of Audiosurf not recognizing the song; On Windows right click the song file > Properties, go to the Details tab and edit the file's metadata by changing the "Title" section to the song name and "Contributing Artist" to the Band/Singer name. That will help with seeing leaderboards properly.
I got here by going through my list of games to see what I have/have not reviewed and ended up spending a few hours on it. Playing Megalovania by Toby Fox now is just as good as Through Fire And Flames by Dragon Force in ye yesteryear.
Compared to other posts I had 0 bugs during my time playing on Windows 11. No crashes or glitches.
Old as heck game, will run on most modern PCs nowadays.
Lets you combine ADHD Gaming with Podcasts.
It's an innovative music game resembling a fancy visualizer. Initially fun, but sudden interface crashes make long-term play unreliable.
peak game
Yeah whatever.
Can't help thinking it's just like someone paying for a fancy Winamp visualisation. But if that's your bag.
As someone who doesn't use spotify or whatever, and has always had a folder of all my music on my secondary drive since the 1990's even, I have no issues with lack of features.
when you dont wanna drink and drive this game fits the shoe
It's just fun
Does not work with win11 pro. QuestViewer issue.
It is good for a few days until suddenly you find everything in the menu is all white and can't play the game whatsoever
very fun and addicting
Me and my buddies couldn't get enough of this game in years past.
ya know how they tell you don't play with your food. well. now you can play with your music. why. cuz its fun that way.
Fun.
red block connects to the... red block
blue block connects to the.. blue block
cmd.exe > taskkill /F /IM questviewer.exe
SO MANY CRASHES D:
So, I finally got this only 16 years after it released. Very fun game to play if you don't want to dive into something for too long. Given you can use your own music, it's pretty fun and so continually able to be "updated" as it were. There will definitely be a challenge on one of the modes or difficulties for you. Not even going to try the 2nd game as I hear this first one is the way to go.
A classic
Serviceable to play something along with your music, but I wish it had a chart editor or something like it. Tracks being random limits how purposeful a song can feel.
good game
underrated these days
It's alright
first person to play duwap kaine
This game is still broken and looks anticuated, but is plagued with a lot of fun and charm that never gets old.
ITS THE BEST GAME FROM MY CHILDHOOD THANK YOU
It's great
i would recommend this game to other players yes
long live audio surf
An absolute awesome game! If u are found of music, loving visualising the rythm then it will give u a tone of joy! I myself prefer playing it via Psy-Trance tracks, just terrific and fun!
If you've ever wanted to just chill out and listen to music, but you're too anxious and need something to do with your hands, then this is the perfect way to do that.
i love riding music
If you are a fan of music and the 2000's neon aesthetic, then you'll love AudioSurf. The biggest selling point for this game in my opinion is the ability to play any song (or even sound) you want, as the game automatically generates a course for you. Because of this, not only can you play all of your favorite songs, but theoretically the library of songs to choose from is endless. It also offers a variety of play styles for you to experiment with, even though you will inevitably come to the conclusion that eraser is the best mode. The game can be enjoyed by anyone (although the auto play mode can hardly be called a "game", but it is there if you want it). And like previously mentioned, anyone nostalgic of the 2000's aesthetic will be enamored by this game. With visuals that pair especially well with trance or nightcore songs, and most of the leaderboard results being from over a decade ago, it is like a time capsule into the past. While the game does have a sequel, it doesn't display information as clearly and lacks the charm of the original. Therefore, I would highly recommend AudioSurf for anyone interested in anything mentioned in this review, even in 2025.
Listen to tunes, hit flashy lights.
Much pretty, very colours
10/10
