It is very good and helps you relax in times of stress. For me, who likes to dance, it has been an alternative to a real disco. also exercise. Being able to interact with the characters is fine. I just miss that they can talk, as sometimes when you interact with them and they stare at you, they move their lips as if saying something. I imagine they would run out of money to implement the voices or an AI. access to youtube is sometimes complicated and the video is not played but it is remedied by putting your own music in the game library. thanks to the creators for letting me feel like a disco from the 80's again.
es muy bueno y te ayuda a relajarte en momentos de stres. para mi, que me gusta bailar, ha sido toda una alternativa a una discoteca real. ademas se hace ejercicio. el poder interactuar con los personajes esta bien. solo echo de menos que puedan hablar, ya que en ocasiones, cuando interactuas con ellos y te miran fijamente, mueven los labios como si dijeran algo. imagino que se les agotaria el dinero para implementar las voces o una AI. el acceso a youtube es complicado a veces y no se pone el video pero se remedia poniendo musica propia en la biblioteca del juego. gracias a los creadores por dejarme sentir de nuevo una discoteca de los 80´s.
Fun lighthearted VR experience. Has great potential to be a social entertainment platform if expanded upon. Purchased out of curiosity and it's pretty enjoyable. Characters are well designed and decent music is included to get you dancing straight away. Since you're able to play your own mp3 music there is no limit to what you can listen to. You can dance independently or with a character of your choice. Lastly, there is a control deck at the corner of the dance floor that you can use to control the lights ect .. Nothing major but adds to the ambiance.
Needs more characters to choose from. It's fun as is but a little more variety would be great. Maybe even some additional dance floors.

Works well with the HP Reverb G2 WMR headset if you use the original WMR controllers which include the track pads. The new WMR controllers included with the HP Reverb G2 don't have trackpads so most of the in-game menu options don't work for me. It might be an easy fix via controller binding options but I don't have much experience doing that with the WMR controllers.
In any case, you must use the right hand WMR controller to scroll through the menu options. With the new HP Reverb G2 controllers I can only change some attributes like character, cloth and music selection by simply pointing and pressing the trigger button. I have to press the "B" button while aiming the pointer above or below the menu to get it to scroll through the options. When using the original WMR controllers it simply works by gently moving your finger above the trackpad.
I can launch it and get into the dance floor without an issue using the new WMR controllers but I can't teleport. I'm pretty much stuck standing in the middle of the dance floor even though the character lines up properly in front of me. Once I switch over to the original WMR controllers I can teleport with the right hand WMR controller by pressing up and holding it via the trackpad.
Had I not had the original WMR controllers, my experience would have been limited in scope. It's a nice title to showcase to friends and family. It demonstrates the potential to create fun enjoyable experiences for all age groups.
This is such a nice VR game. I just tested it. Great. Dancefloor in those times when you are not allowed to make party.
This game has so much potential. More laser, more lights, and a crowd on the floor.

This is a great idea, I love being able to play my music and chill to some effects/lights that move to my music. But it appears that this has been abandoned. For the life of me I couldn't figure out the buttons and got stuck on the side unable to reset my view, I also couldn't actually see any lights or effects moving to my music. I would love to see a good nightclub simulator with surroundings moving to my music, unfortunately, this isn't it. Not yet anyway, I hope for more updates.
I had to edit and update this review, I previously said the you tube video button you can select in this game do not play songs, I have found out that it does, not only does it play songs but displays the songs video also, what I found out is that you need to hold down the you tube song you select for approx 25-30 seconds, I think this gives the online you tube video time to load into this disco game, what I did before was to hit the selection instantaneously expecting it to work and I think that is just not enough time to allow the you tube video to load into this game, I highly recommend this, it is a good product.
Just picked this up recently. It's enjoyable! The models are actually pretty good and can customize them a bit to your liking. The controls for editing them are bit clunky, and they could use more models, clothing choices (or...less clothing choices ;) , hair styles and dance moves, etc.. I hope the developer will do some updates to this.
I was surprised at how good this simple game is. After playing, I would have paid more. If the devs are reading this, I hope there are more clothing options coming.
This is actually good. Gives a nice sense of presence being there. This is the girlfriend/boyfriend simulator you are looking for.
game could use a lot more but the options currently there are awsome.
the option to pick a youtube video with music is sweet and you can dance to it as it plays behind you(or front is you turn around).
that being said a lot of options and functions are not clearly displayed, customization could use a different layout and maybe the option to make a completely new character(currently can only alter the characters already there
the panel in the corner isn't really usefull(i barely has anything to do with the lights)
i do want more tough: more dancers, more options and even more dancefloors.
for now i suggest it in discount if more stuff gets added then i highly reccomend it
This is a good game if you buy it on sale. I dont think the normal price for this. It does give you someone to dance with which is nice, and you can "interact/dance" with them by grabbing their arms, which can be quite hilarious. I think this is a great game if you want to dance by yourself ( though not fully by yourself. ), and I really love the input that you can place your own music to dance to, or to find youtube videos to dance to. Amazing touch. Buy this only if you want to dance I would say. Thats really all this is, a dance alone with your NPC. Also, You can move around, but I cant seem to figure out how I did it? I moved twice. I do find the npc's a little creepy, especially when the dance starts and they walk through you, but thats something minor.
The simulated dancer just makes predefined moves, always the same dance, completely independent of the music (duh!) and the player. Not the slightest bit of interaction.
If I just want to dance to music, I don't need VR for that.
It's not a VR game, but a VR experience. So far not bad, but the avatar needs to react more on the bpm of chosen music from Youtube (btw I love the videowall when playing a clip) and must have more moves, at best selectable moves when dancing, so it becomes more a game. The touch controller would then be more usefull ingame. Although, devs, keep the free ride; like I said PDVR is an experience and with its current price a good one. Buy it and be amazed.
Other suggestions would be to select a few avatars instead of 1 or all; also that you can position them on the floor would be nice.
Issues: changing height of avatars also affects the position where they are dancing; sometimes pushing me out the VR protection grid. Also there are moments the avatar needs to do a 360 degrees dancing, turning its head almost the exorcist way because its eyes are fixated on your HMD. And I can't follow because to do so I have to step out of the protection grid and stuff turns grey.
But amazing experience, no doubt!
I switch between bustin' serious moves to being a worldclass DJ. You can't scratch but they do a few beats and a basic drum kit you can tap on. If you like VR, dancing, going to clubs, then Personal Disco is a must. I only wish you could play your own saved videos, like MP4. I also wish dancing with the other characters was more interactive.
Hearing and seeing the video you pick from YouTube is pretty awesome and makes the game totally worth it for me. I used to go to a club that kinda looked like the dance floor in this game, and they also had a big screen for video.

I played this on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers, with only a few problems (I think). I do recommend this game for the current price of $4.99 and only for those who understand what they are getting. What are you getting for $5?
Well, you get to listen to your local music (along with a few in-game selections) while you look at a small disco VR world that includes 3 female and 3 male model avatars. Each avatar has their own unique dance. You can grab a hold of their hands and move both of their hands. Other than that, there is no interaction with the avatar although it does seem that for whatever reason, the avatar will at times "look into your eyes," which can be odd. You can dance along, obviously, but you can't even see your hands or body (just the controllers).
There are also some items you can interact with in the world. Random balls of light are scattered and when you touch them it will make a cymbal sound and sparks will fly. There's also a stand controller on one corner of the room where you can make drum sounds or activate a instrument with beams of light (piano, harp, etc.) and you make sounds by touching each colored beam of light.
I was disappointed by how small the disco floor was. You have options to have 1 avatar dance with your or all six together. Each avatar dances exactly the same routine they are preprogrammed to do. Most of the avatars dance barefooted, which is odd. They don't even up their tempo in dancing for an upbeat song, although you can make them your dance puppet (at least with their hands). The avatar also leaves at the end of each song (no loops or playlist) and walks through a wall. Another annoyance I had was with the teleporting (trigger and joystick at same time on Touch); the control was inconsistent.
One of the fun parts of the game is that you can customize the look of your avatar. I danced with a pregnant hag troll with big eyes and small pouty lips with beast hands . It was the scariest VR experience I have ever had.

A great VR experience. The dev is doing good stuff with this title. I truly enjoy comfy relaxing and fun VR experiences like this. Hopefully in the future we'll get multiple people on the dance floor.
This is a fun little app well worth the few dollars they are asking. The developers are constantly improving it and are listening to the consumers suggestions. I believe like someone else suggested that with more work this can really take off as a dance app.
I bought this so I could say 'I finally found somebody to dance with me' in the activity feed upon purchase, and then later on with this review. I'm going to say that this is worth one of the 4 dollars you will need to purchase this game, otherwise it should be $1.99 at best. You get some standard, but decent cookie-cutter humanoid models that you can tweak fairly heavily/comically. No clothing choices, though. It has bad music, or can use your own bad music. It's got enough stuff, save for a decent dance floor and locomotion therein. So you cannot actually get close to your dance partner... or conceivably... I just smell bad, and even lifeless 3d computer models will not dance with me.

This App allows to dance with Avatars. The immersion is pretty impressive. For gaming fans who are into FPS, MMORPG etc. this may seem useless, but if you are into dancing it will kick you.
As far as I know it is the first of its kind for a modern VR HMD. In Roomscale Tower is one adventure that resembles a bit. I hope this app sells good, so that devs can spend much more time on extending it. I like to see better physics on the Avatars and it would be great to have them do real dances like Salsa, Tango and so on. Also: integrate a training mode.
Alltogether: Great concept, well done so far. I'd pay 50 USD for a full size VR dancing software.
It's fun, worth 4 bucks. Even more fun if you use your own music choices (even though they don't know the moves..it was kinda like meeting a woman who has never been to a goth club before lol).
I'd like to see the models able to twirl around when they want to and maybe some better AI for being more aware of their environment, and of course way more varied dance styles and music. Maybe allow urls from youtube which is way easier than downloading OGG files.

Dancing with a bot is a little strange, but is does add something to the experience. Massive number of hard to use sliders to customize your own dance bot. Nice idea, but really needs a Randomize button, keep pushing it till a face appers that you like. I do that a lot in creating an avatar in MMOs. I haven't got the artistic skills to do better than a random number generator.
I like the concept, but don't want to be dancing with the same bot all the time.
If I were rating this on a 5-star system it would probably get 2 stars, but I'm giving it a thumbs up because I want to encourage the "virtual disco" developers (even though most of that content right now sucks), and if you buy this and don't like it, you can easily get a refund after trying it out for a while.
This is a start, maybe not a good start, but a start.
The room is too bland. It needs more variety, and particle effects more like the things up in the sky during the menu. It needs options for colors and styles. It needs some exploding spheres like Audioshield.
The people are kinda creepy. They stare blankly, but dance around, and always look you in the eye. You can also grab their arms and make them go through their own bodies. They're too short. They all seem under 5 feet tall. They aren't dressed for the disco, and some of their moves aren't well suited either. The collision for clothes is horrible. Knees are always popping out of dresses. Worst, they want to occupy the center of my Vive space. They should let me stand in the center and maybe move in a circle around me. The disco could also use a few more people optionally. If it is easy to add custom characters through an FBX import, that would be pretty amazing.
But all these people should be optional if I want to remove them all.
More effects. More options. AAC file support would be nice if it isn't already included.
On the plus side, I like some of the included music. It does look kinda like a disco. And if you feel lonely in your life, once you've danced in a fake disco with nobody around except an emotionless VR companion, your real life will never feel quite as lonely again.
