This is the game of the century. Not only can you hit the penguin you can steer it once it's in the air. This game brought out both the worst and best of me. My meat has now completely fallen off, after it mysteriously slipped into my hamster.

I really struggled to understand this game, the controls are confusing and 9 times out of 10 you don't get the choice to control the penguin, you need to hit a perfect shot in order to control the penguin and that can be a challenge up until the point you get a better bat. I can't complain much since it's a very cheap game but I wouldn't recommend getting the game with the state it's in right now, it looks like the devs have ditched the game aswell.

Pretty crappy game.
This is decently entertaining when taking turns with other people and laughing at the ridiculous gameplay. Basically, cartoon penguins take turns letting you launch them with a baseball bat. Then, if you get a perfect hit, you get to steer the penguin with your head and try to hit ramps and speed boosts to go farther and collect coins. You can buy upgrades/powerups to help with this.
Overall, it's basically a minigame with alright cartoony graphics. That's all there is to it so don't expect too much. Best to wait for a sale if this seems up your alley.
My kids love this game, and it's actually good for a bit of stress relief. I really like knocking these penguins around with the hammer on the tarmac!
For a buck, it'll give you at least an hour of fun; but I recommend this game for kids ~5 to ~15. My 3 year old has trouble with the concept, she keeps hitting the penguins down instead of over lol.
It's such a simple game, but a party can keep playing this over and over and casually watch and take turns.
Once we found out we could press up on the D-pad to move to go buy things, it made things a lot more fun. The developers have added some fun things to buy with the coins you earn.
I just wish you could aim better where you hit and steer left and right with you headset more while you're in the air.
Not many things in life or afterlife make my mom happy. This is one of those few things. Amazing genius, pure happiness exists here. Empty your wallets. An obvious guide would be nice, but so far this is pure joy and possibly the reason VR was invented.

How does one get the achievement though? It's a broken link.
You adjust the penguins flight path with your head, you tilt your head up and down to adjust. This is very uncomfortable, it would be much less painful to use the controllers.
Happy Penguin is a nice and funny small game where try to you hit penguins with a baseball bat as hard as you can. It's fun for the whole family and the current price tag (1$) is just right. So if you're in the right mood, just grab it!
So I got this on sale for .69 cents. Instant buy! Just kidding, well no, I actually did buy it for solely those reasons. The good news is that it works on the Oculus Rift with Touch controllers, but the controls are overly cumbersome and complicated .
Basically, penguins line up and you have to bat them with a bat. If you hit the penguin correctly, you can control it's glide path. You do so by gaze control, i.e. you have to look where you want the penguin to go. You can also at this time use powerups to make it go farther, e.g. using a hang glider to go farther. You can collect coins and go through hoops. By doing so you can upgrade your bats or get powerups. I strongly suggest the first thing you do is to upgrade your bat, those are permanent and make the game much easier.
You can teleport. You have to teleport. But on the Oculus Rift with Touch controllers, it's a pain in the butt to do so. Here's what you have to do, and no, I'm not kidding. This dev actually chose this button mapping, I think he hates Oculus users. Anyways, you have to:
1. Press Y or B (this turns on a red pointer to where you can sometimes teleport)
2. Press trigger and click on the joystick simultaneously and hold
3. Make sure the red pointer curves down on the ground otherwise you won't teleport
4. Release
5. Congrats, you have now teleported, and you can curse the dev now
The good news is that even though you'll be upset and frustrated by trying to teleport which you have to do to get the bat and to hit the penguins... is that you get to unleash your anger and frustration on said penguins. Thus making you an even better player at this game. Channel this anger towards hitting those penguins as hard as you can. And profit. GG.

This game is alright, but I can't see myself playing it for more than an hour total. This game may be more suitable for kids. The price isn't too high for what it is, especially when I got it on sale for $ .89 USD. The steering for the penguin is done by moving your headset left or right which would be better if you had the option to change it.

I found myself bored on a rainy Saturday and as I was browsing through the Steam VR store one particular game caught my eye - Happy Penguin VR. The game is similar to Angry Birds in the sense that you have to fling a penguin in the air and then navigate it to hit certain bases and rings. The game is meant for the casual VR gamer as there are no levels in particular and the content is pretty limited.

First I was disappointed. I expected a realistic penguin hitting simulator, but the game is clearly not realistic at all. The physics are all wrong, and penguins don't wear hats.
But while continuously hitting penguins, it hit me: This game was never meant to be realistic. It was meant to be philosophical!

Do you want to sacrifice everything for a brief moment of ultimate happiness?
I was deeply touched by this game and it made me ponder the deeper meaning of life. Definitely recommended!
I was pretty happy about the penguin models and animations used in this game (my primary reason for purchasing). Overall the gameplay is pretty straight forward (bat the penguin as far as possible and guide it along its path), but the game is still rough around the edges. I hope the dev finishes this because the design is nice and it just needs a few tweaks.

- Took up most of my play space (2.4m x 2.4m) to go from bat to penguin diving board.
- Noticed some infrequent ASW/ATW/reprojection while using a 1080ti.
Bad
- Desperately needs some kind of explanation on how to play. (A menu would be nice. There currently isn't one.)
- Controls are confusing.
[*] Some details feel rushed. Application icon was the unity symbol in steamVR. Name was "now_playing_string". No easy way to exit the program.

The game is better than I thought it would be. I thought it would be only batting penguins. But after you bat them you get to guide them in flight via a glider, and when they land on snow via a snowmobile! You get item upgrades that further increases the travel distance of the penguins.
I ran into a few hiccups here and there. I felt like the rings were a little too low. I always found myself flying higher than all of the cool stuff down below. It still exceeded my expectations and is good all around fun. Could see this being a great game for kids.
