Game kept crashing.
Ok so I'm probably the only person who's played this game longer than 3 seconds, and I tried to go for all achievements.
I found the game really fun, although a bit janky. That insane shark boss is unfair as heck and I had a bug that completely erased my save file so I'm just gonna cheat the achievements in. Im not doing the grind again sorry.
the game is fun and you can play it while listening to your own music. you can change your speed and object distance and even give the stage a new appearance. theres also different modes to play. a lot of fun for little money! thats what i like!
this game would have been awsome if wallrun can be fixed. wallrun just doesnt work really well and that makes this game really hard
Adding in your own music is annoying, you have to drag all the songs you want in the game to the game folder..
The gameplay itself is worse than expected as well. Is it a rhythm game or not?
Also it seems like the beat doesn't have to do anything here, the maps don't generate on the song at all.
I am refunding my euro, this game should be free or something.

I love rhythm based gameplay, but this is not rhythmic at all, it's a shitty janky rail shooter!
The movement left to right is smooth enough
Jumping while moving straight is smooth enough
The wall hugging/jumping is totally fucked
The shooting is totally fucked, I thought it was being caused by some mouse gesture software I usually use, but nope, just the game. You can shoot once fine, usually, but to shoot multiple times it says to hold the button down, and then you just get a completely random rate of fire, if it repeats at all.
When you mess something up, the map doesn't rewind a bit and give you a chance to retry or anything like that, it just blinks ahead and you're instantly back in the action with a totally different set of obstacles, and usually, no time to react, which means if you mess up once, you're probably hitting several obstacles in a row and losing the whole map.
It's a mystery to me why anyone would vote this up.
A good concept with pretty meh execution... games like Beat Hazard and Audiosurf have great level generation based on your music, creating gameplay that doesn't feel gimmicky. This game feels gimmicky.
Pros:
+cool concept
+background changing colors to the beat is reasonably accurate
Cons:
-horrible UI for selecting music
-level generation feels exactly the same regardless of the song or its genre.
-no matter what difficulty you're at: the game feels like you're traveling faster than walking speed but WAYYYYY slower than running speed.
-controls are awful
-the follow line is either left or right, usually being right.
-some obstacle setups only exist to end runs/drain health due to braindead placement that is impossible to navigate (Example being wallrun jumps with a glass barrier on the top right with a slide obstacle with a glass bottom left being literally 3 feet away from the previous obstacle).
-low draw distance (worse than PS1 games somehow).
I'm gonna get these easy achievements and uninstall. The game gets boring after a few songs.
I can't complain too much since it's only 1 dollar. It's a simple game. You jump around and shoot things. It doesn't fit the music too well, but the visuals are neat. The song browser is annoying, though, since it puts all of your indexed songs in one list. Get the songs you want ready beforehand.
As for difficulty, it is TOUGH. It seems easier than when I tried it in early access, but there's little room for mistakes. Didn't hit the glass in 1 or 2 shots? Say hello to die. Especially on the hardest difficulty where if you make a single mistake, you fail the song.
Oh and also it has SEVENTY EIGHT ACHIEVEMENTS
buy this game, it is cheap, fun and relaxing. it has very little in songs but what i did was download some youtube songs and put them into the game. i would get unlimited power and country rounds by jaroslav beck, battle6 by taku iwasaki, and countdown by deltron 3030. this is a must buy for any rhythm game fan
Unlike other reviews, I tought the gameplay was fine. What disapointed me was the soundtrack implementation. It barely felt like in influenced the levels. I played a couple of songs and never felt like I was playing to the beat of those songs.
I really wanted to like this game. I have a soft spot for games that let you add your own music, but this game didn’t do it for me. While the mechanics and controls are mostly spot on, the ones that aren’t spot on ruin the game for me. I am mainly talking about the shooting mechanic.
I have no clue why the fire rate is inconsistent, but I guess it’s because the game wants to implement as many rhythm mechanics as possible, but out of all the ideas for gameplay elements based on rhythm, why is one of the things they thought of was the firing rate? It gets especially grating with the glass wall game mechanic where most of my deaths come from hitting a glass wall because my gun wouldn’t shoot.
One other mechanic I greatly dislike is the difficulty. The game favors short songs while making long songs greatly difficult to go through. The player is given an option of one to five lives no matter what the song is. While going through a one minute song with five lives seems fair, going through a five to ten-minute song is a nightmare since there is a much greater chance the player will fail. And if the player fails, they have to start all over again or choose to continue without increasing the round’s score.
Overall, while the game has decent controls and excellent graphics, there are some elements of the game that greatly influence my opinion enough to not recommend it. If you plan to buy this, there are better music player games worth your money.
TL;DR
Game is fun and challenging. Plays any songs, but has some minor issues with mouse and the sliding mechanic. Stages are very nice and slick with it following the song along each beat.
So. This game is interesting. Disregard my hours played. It doesn't have much content, however, it has a inbuilt song reader that builds a map around the song you have placed in. It is interesting to some and has some cons.
My one major grime with this game is the fact that you can't turn off mouse smoothing, it's unbearable if you're not used to it. Within 20 minutes, I have gotten used to it but then there's something else you need to get used to as well. The gun doesn't shoot unless there is a beat to go with it, however, it is a bit annoying when there is a wall in front of you and you can't shoot it since the beat isn't going fast enough.
- Another thing that is a bit iffy is the sliding. You slide like in any other game that has sliding mechanics. However, your crosshair gets pushed up and your screen gets pushed down (to simulate sliding, I get it), but when you get up from the slide, the crosshair doesn't go back to default position. It goes back to the sliding crosshair position and it completely throws me off constantly.
- The character hitbox doesn't feel normal, it feels like you're a floating wisp with legs and it doesn't help when you try to wall jump, it just gently lobs you to the side.

I gotta give it credit though. The stages are pretty insane with the right type of music. The main menu music is great, but can't be played within the game itself (unless I missed something).
- The game is very close to what it should be, it's just the minor mouse issues that is driving me away.
Overall, the game isn't too bad. It just has some minor problems that could be fixed fairly easily. But until then, I gotta not recommend it. Whenever they end up fixing these issues, I'll recommend this game to everyone, as the price and gameplay is enough to warrent it.
This is a bad game. The controls are not good. When you crouch the crosshair goes up and away from the thing I was trying to look at. The shooting is not fun and feels it it goes against platformering to music. Speaking of which, for a music generated game I cannot feel the music having any sort of impact. There is no build up just seemely random walls with holes in them. It does not help that it asks me to perform high jumps while only giving me an medium jump. You can run on walls but it is disorienting as there is nothing visual on the wall pass about your knee height. Even moving the crosshair on its own feels weird and disorienting.
Bad controls. The levels and gameplay have nothing to do with the rythym of the music you choose. It is just the same obstacle courses over and over, and the game plays your music in the background. You could pick any song in the game, mute the game, and play your own music in the background and it would be the same thing. When you are playing it doesn't feel at all like you are playing along to the music. Did I mention bad controls? When you crouch it moves your crosshairs against your will. There is crazy momentum, so every time you try to move you just slide past where you want to go. Good idea however. I hope someone makes something like this that isn't garbage.
The genre of games that implement your own music and generate something based on it is very underrepresented on the market and I hope that changes.
However, I do wish for a better execution than what is found in this game.
As most other negative reviews point out, the controls are not good. That is putting it nice. It does not stop there, however.
There are a few minor problems, for example that your music stops for a short while each time you get hit, that either input is not always recognized or there is some weird and inconsistend cooldown for your shooting without that being represented anywhere in the UI or how terrible navigation is when choosing a song, and a bug (Multiple times when I tried fighting a boss both him and me would be stuck with the music playing while we both could not do anything, which was the only one I encountered in ~30 minutes though.).
On their own, these would not be terrible, however they do add up.
And while I would be willing to forgive the game for all of these and be left with a product that while not terrible does not bring anything thrilling to the table and is only worth a look for the niche genre I mentioned earlier, there is a total dealbreaker for me.
The music is weirldy distorted when incorporated into the game.
I have absolutely no idea what went wrong, but in this game, all my music sounds very weird, some songs more than others. There seem to be no options to tweak sound quality in this game and outside, everything is perfectly normal.
Maybe this is due to my taste focusing on Metal and it works well with other genres, but that kills it for me. I'm afraid I will refund this despite its low price since I know that I will never touch it again in this state and don't expect it to be fixed as I appear to be the only one with this issue.
Try it out if you are interested as a lot of people seem to very much enjoy it and see for yourself if you have any issues.
The main concern I have about the game is the inability to map out the controls. What they have set up seems okay, but will soon become apperent that the control scheme will most likely go against you when playing the actual game compared to the Tutorial. I only got this game because of the prospect of using your own music, but I was extremely dissapointed.
There's just not enough here, in my opinion. It feels like an alpha build, a "feature complete" test rather than a finished release. The feel is rarely captivating, and there are a few annoyances that contribute to losing flow.
It's not so bad I'd ask for a refund, given the low price, but it's also not a game I could recommend.
After about a good twenty minutes with the game, I can honestly say that it leaves much to be desired, especially considering other options such as Audiosurf and Melody's Escape. Don't get me wrong, the concept and style are excellent, but it just isn't implemented in a way that feels very natural. Keeping with my honesty, I did go into this game with a grain of salt, and I wouldn't really reccomend this.
To be completely honest this is one of my favorite games and the price is insanely low for such a great time consumer. I play a lot of H1Z1, Playerunknown, Shellshock, etc. but none of them keep me entertained for more than an hour or so before I have to switch it up. I played this for 2 hours today and would have kept playing have I not had work. Added my music from the desktop and have a great time! Runs extremely well and does a great job at aligning the colors with the music. I hope to see this game blow up in the community.. For all the CSgoSurf players and Clustertruck fans, this is the one you have been looking for.
Con: A little too sensitive when you move left and right, other than that it's been great. Hope to see more levels/maps in the near future.
Rhythm Rush, simple and fun. It has three different game modes, six different maps, and some Bosses which i havent got to. It starts with 3 song (NCS Release) but you can add you own songs, which I enjoyed! I recommend the Song S3RL - Escape (Feat. Emi) I think it a perfect song to any Rhythm Game.
Probably the Best $1-2 I have ever spent, the controls and simple, the custom song feature is a blast and I can rave without mates or leaving the house :D
I highly recommend this game if you have $1-2 to spend!
