I actually liked to play it alot with my friends. But it's kind of dead now.
shooter with fun play!
absolutely amazing fps legendary epic game
It's a fun game with a lot of stuff from older Quake games.
This game has all the movement types of the previous Quake Games. Bunny hopping from Quake, strafe jumping from Quake 2 and Quake 3 and crouch sliding from Quake 4.
It has most of the old weapons except the Grenade Launcher and instead got the Tribolt.
The big difference between this Quake and previous Quakes is that you have Champions.
There are 16 champions, and they all have one passive and one active ability. The passive abilities could be different movement other than strafe jumping (two have bunny hopping, two have crouch sliding, everyone has strafe jumping) to regenerating some health, get extra armor at kills, having double jump and many other things.Active abilities is what you activate when you need it, like fire strike, rage and plasma trail, to mention a few.
I recommend checking out the learning section in the game, or the Quake Champions Wiki to read things outside of the game.
It's not a game for sneaking really, that won't win many matches, an no matches outside of duels. It's about map knowledge, reading your opponent, strategy, aim and movement, not about trying to spot your enemy (which is why you have a colored outline of your opponents and team mates to easily differentiate between them).
If you're new to the game, you will have a very hard time vs. "everybody" else, cause most have played Quake games for many years, so even barely average players seem like they are very good at the game when you face them, which makes for a very steep learning curve, and there isn't really any training courses or anything like that.

I recommend checking rapha's movement guide to get an insight into movement.
It has some issues, and not a lot of funding, and the battle passes are full of the same things except for 1-3 new weapon models each time. Hopefully the next Quake, if there is one, will take a different course and have more not so intense, or hardcore, modes to keep players playing, something more chill, while also having the "hardcore" standard Quake modes as well for those that want the old Quake type of gameplay.
I recommend it cause if you do take the time to learn the game, you can have a lot of fun with gameplay there isn't much of anymore.
It's not very advanced, or even varied, but fast and hard to pull off, which makes it very satisfying to play.
Quake lovers know what this. You need to be dedicated to learn the movements and also the lay of the maps to succeed.
Extremely negative impression of the game, compared to Q1-Q4. There is way more of "Loading" than playing the game
Trash overwatch ripoff.
Quake 4 better.
its like quake but everyone has dumb spells that make the game worse 👍
Give this game to the community with Mod support and a Server browser. Solid foundation, but unable to find games due to matchmaking

My acquaintance with Quake Champions began with several launches of the game and not very successful attempts to play multiplayer. I soon abandoned the game, sometimes thinking about returning to it. In August, influenced by the hype from Quakecon and the game's switch to the Free2play model, I decided to try again.
The game is energetic, fast and often presents interesting situations.
Each weapon works uniquely, which allows you to find something convenient for yourself.
Hardcore players can use powerful weapons such as a rocket launcher and a railgun.
Active and passive abilities add variety. For example, a Ranger can reduce the damage from a rocket launcher, and Dumga can jump twice.
Beginners don't have to be nerds to play properly. Skills decide more than having powerful weapons.
Getting items from loot boxes can be random and not always pleasant.
Three types of currency for different types of loot boxes complicate the process.
Sometimes there are eternal downloads and FPS drops.
Although these problems are not regular, they can still ruin the experience.
It is difficult for beginners to get comfortable without basic knowledge of the mechanics of the game.
The lack of training materials may deter new players.
Result:
Quake Champions evokes mixed feelings. Everything is great at the gameplay level: the game is fast, energetic and offers a lot of interesting moments. However, at a higher level, the game is not intended for ordinary players. The loot box system and lack of training can scare off newcomers.

Intro
It's a nice spin on the arena shooter, with the introduction of the hero abilities. Unfortunately, I can't find players online. Which is fine, if I could play the game offline with bots. But I can't, because an internet connection is still required, and I can't customize my match options. So quite frankly, I don't see much of a reason to play it.
Positives
+ Free to play.
+ Great soundtrack.
+ Good level design.
+ Great weapon variety.
+ Good game mode variety.
+ Weapons have great impact.
+ Great aesthetics and graphics.
+ Playing with bots still gives you XP.
+ The hero abilities do provide a nice spin on the usual arena shooter format.
Negatives
- Finding online matches is not easy.
- An internet connection is still required to play with bots. I also ran into a lot of lag in said bot matches.
- You have no control over the match options for playing with bots. It's even less advanced than Quake Live, which was already downgrade from Quake 3 Arena. You only have control over which mode you wish to play, but for some reason, you still have to vote for maps, as if you're playing with real players.

Genuinely fun, challenging, and absolutely Quake. It's a shame most people wouldn't give it a try, either because it's not exactly like Quake 3 or because Quake is incredibly intimidating for anyone that hasn't had 20 years to perfect their rocket jumping and movement tech, because it's fantastic.
As someone who didn't grow up with arena shooters but found a love for them regardless, the speed and movement here feel perfect. Even better than Quake Live. Character abilities add much needed variety to the arena shooter formula, and most of them fit right into the twitch shooting and resource control aspects of the game like Slash's damaging trail and Ranger's slipgate. The maps are well designed, too.
I just wish there was single player content to attract new players. Quake is nearly impenetrable to many, and the barrier to entry could be significantly lowered with well-designed bot matches like Unreal Tournament 3 or Toxikk. These could introduce new players to game mechanics and let them develop their skills instead of loading up, joining a game, going 4 - 57 in deathmatch, and uninstalling. That and the loot box battle pass character locking shit can die in a fire.
Still, the feeling of popping out of a portal at 200 m/s, flying over to the guy that's been camping the quad damage, blasting him point blank with the super shotgun at just the right time, and flying off in the span of half a second is just divine.
Its ok.
Quake Champions is just the best arena shooter ever! Test your abilities against skilled players or have fun in custom games with friends!
What can I say; one of the greats.
just GOAT. Thats all you need to know.
I was happily surprised this game still has a community playing it. Quake just never gets old to me. Years later I start playing again and it feels like I never stopped. It's just a lot of fun once you learn the movement mechanics and where all the ammo and hp/ap spawns are. I highly recommend this game to anyone who wants a fast paced arena shooter
True arena shooter with modern flavour.
Eye candy.
No
awesome game
Alpha tester here, also beta tester prior to the game being released on steam - wow, what a solid disappointment.
Description states it was developed by id software but that's misleading because most of the development was done by Saber interactive.
Attempting to inject 'hero' classes into a game that never required it, made it feel like a mix of Overwatch and something else, with a 'quake' skin slapped on.
It seems that this game was designed to pander to the 'hero-shooter' craze that was popular with developers at the time.
They made this game free-to-play and still, no one is interested.
very addictive and fun.
its the first time and I played it for almost 4 hours straight.
Most amazing game that I have ever played. Well done!! Keep up the good work.
