A very cute and beautiful game. A bit repetitive after a while, even though it's short, so I played it in two sessions.
My casual gamer partner watched me play and adored it. I let her plant some vegetation at some point, which was easy to do for her even though she wasn't wearing the VR headset I was playing with. So I'd say it's fun to experience alongside someone who doesn't play video games (or VR games specifically).
Beautiful semi-interactive story/art piece. I don't know if I feel $15 is the right price as the experience is quite short and relatively repetitive. I feel this is an experience I could use for introducing people to VR. The non-gamers will love it. The rest of us will marvel and then get bored.
REVIEWING VR VERSION (Played on META QUEST 2)
A simple and contemplative story with light puzzle elements. I bought it for the soothing and relaxing VR experience and enchanting art style. It is good to play it seated and enjoy the poetic narratives for unwinding after a busy day.
Pros:
- Adorable characters
- Simple and relaxing VR experience
- Soothing sound
- Good voice acting
Cons:
- Too short gameplay (less than 1 hour)
- Lack of replaybility
- Not recommended at full cost (though I did)
Honestly the only bad thing I can say about this game is that it is way too short. I would have also liked more things to touch and interact with. Otherwise, super pretty. Very cute story.
This is a very interesting and beautiful game, but also overpriced and under-polished for PC. The music and story are neat, but the controls (at least for Mouse and Keyboard) are very meticulous and can leave you more numb than interested in the environments and camera controls.
It doesn't seem to be fully VR, either, as the Valve Index controllers were not interact-able in any way. I can only assume you are still supposed to use a controller while wearing the headset, but I gave up and played it normally on my computer.
This can be blasted and 100%-ed through in less than an hour. If that's fine with you, I'd still recommend you get this on PSVR; it seems like it was intended for that console anyways. Even then, I'd strongly reconsider for something else.
This game is visually beautiful in a way that it looks and feels like the pages of children story books. I can't judge the story because I played it for less than an hour and the reason why I played it for so short is because it got boring real fast.
I can recommend this game to children under 10 who enjoy art and paintings. Also, I think it's a good idea for parents to sit down and play this game with/for their very young children and help them understand the story.
But I only recommend games on steam if I liked them myself, so I can't recommend it to people with similar taste to me. I actually bought this game for my wife (who is an artist herself) and she played it for about 10 minutes and got bored.
While I think it would have been even better in VR, as the mouse controls were not perfect, I adored this. I bought it for the art and and the endearing premise (and nostalgia for childhood books), but oh my will this story stay with me. The whole thing is so touching, heartfelt and wholesome. I think we can all use some of that. It's not super complex, or full of twists and turns, but there's a lovely moral to the story that did hit me right in the feels. Overall it's a soothing, calming experience that I would highly recommend.
Luna is intent on telling a story with its unique visual style, so the controls (i.e. the interactive part of the game) suffer as a result:
- The mouse speed inside the game is significantly lower than when I’m outside of the game.
- No options to play in windowed mode (or to change the screen resolution when forcing windowed mode with Alt + Enter).
- The control screen says the right mouse button can be used to rotate, but I can’t get it to work. I have to use the left mouse button to click and drag along the disk of stars at the bottom of the screen to rotate scenes, but even that is inconsistent regarding how well it works.
- After solving a constellation puzzle, the lights travel along the stars for an arbitrary amount of time before the hidden object appears, sometimes longer than 15 seconds. I’m not sure if this is meant to indicate that I’m supposed to rotate the constellation into another position to view the solution.
- During the diorama scenes, after planting an item and then bringing up the color wheel, the cursor swings wildly between options no matter how I move the mouse in an attempt to pick precisely.
- Speaking of the diorama scenes, the criteria to “solve” them also feels completely arbitrary. I just keep planting items and editing them until the scene lights up and I get the next prompt.
For those who choose to take a look, the game can be completed in under 90 minutes, or 2 hours total for 100% achievements.
Played on HTC Vive Pro/Valve index controllers/RTX2060Super.
One thing I can say, it looks absolutely gorgeous.
The 'puzzles' are all the same for each level, but especially when you have 'connected the dots' it's not clear what you had to do, I thought you had to toggle the strings in a certain order, before I found out through the forum you had to position the strings (by rotating the whole contraption) to a certain position.
Also in the diorama world itself it's just putting as much junk on the floor/water and give it some color and that's about it.
Also it seems to disable the visible safety boundary, which is not good.
I bought the game in sale for 1,49 euro, if you can get it for anything below 5 euro's you should certainly buy it. For me the 14,99 euro pricetag it is at the time of writing is just too much.
Don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful game, but I wished they had created some different puzzles.
A short but very beautiful narrative game telling a story about Bird healing the world with songs.
The art is lovely, and the soundtrack and sound effects convey perfectly the relaxing atmosphere of the game. Absolutely charming!
Note: This review was written after a VR playthrough of Luna
Between the papercraft textures and cozy voice work Luna feels like waking up in a child’s pop-up book. An accessible VR experience with very light puzzle elements, your interaction with the environment helps dinky Bird remember their way home. My favourite recurring ‘puzzle’ was placing greenery on desolate land to return wildlife. There was something delightful about putting trees on a tiny diorama and later seeing that same tree’s proportions at human size. I’d love to see more of this in kind of thing in VR, maybe a city-building game? I digress...
Luna’s only an hour long, but my main criticism is it doesn’t make for a particularly variety filled hour; it definitely felt like I’d seen everything it had to offer at the 40 minute mark. For this reason I wouldn’t recommend it at full cost, but at the sale price of £1.13 it is worth your time and attention.
The touching story, the beautiful art-style and the relaxing music made it feel like all of it was a dream 🌙
If you're looking to play a bit before going to bed, Luna is a great bedtime story for that
This is a heavily narrated puzzle game... so its more like a story with a few connect the dots and memory puzzles, that kinda repeat.
The story is very well done, a bit too deep maybe? but the voice acting was excellent, the graphics look great, and performance also was really good.
The story brings a good message, but i do feel it kinda dragged a bit.
The game is a bit slow, and the puzzles get a bit repetitive, like the same puzzles with very slight variation between levels.
Took me 1hr from start to finish, and i got it on sale which was a steal, so, wholeheartedly recommended.
Pretty much awwwed my way through this. Very cute, beautiful, lovely animations, plus you get to plant stuff which I'm always partial to. Easy recommendation for an "I don't feel like adulting today" experience if you like the aesthetics and very casual gameplay (more like clicking and moving the cursor for sparkly stuff to happen). Also very suitable for kids who are going through something difficult, at least as long as it isn't something like, say, systemic racism where conclusions like "every challenge is a chance to grow" would be inappropriate.
Technical notes: You can't change mouse sensitivity, which can cause trouble - with my touchpad I had to do some ridiculous scrolling just to move the cursor a little bit; mouse worked fine. There are some light puzzles which are easier to solve if you can distinguish the colours, but the palettes looked ok for most colour-blind people. The thingy to change the colour of stuff you plant seemed a bit broken (some choices didn't work), but it's just a nice little option purely for playing around outside the main story.

What an enchanting, relaxing experience. It does not get more Zen than this. Perfect for unwinding after a busy day. It's simple and beautiful with very relaxing music.
I got this heavily discounted and that was money well spent. I think the normal price is too steep for what you get but when you can buy it on sale you should definitely get it.
Slow, thoughtful, and beautiful. It's not a game so much as an interactive story, with lovely visuals and soothing sounds and puzzles that won't tax you. It's not meant to be a challenge so much as a pleasant experience. We could all use a little more beauty and peace in our lives.
I bought this on sale for $2 and I feel like I should have paid full price.
Played it in VR with a Samsung Odessy + headset.
Yes, Its only an hour long.
But it is so, so, so beautiful.
I felt relaxed and excited like i haven't felt in ages after playing this game.
Yes, its simple. Its short. It reads like a childrens book.
But there was a magic in this title where I just couldnt handle it - I cried a little.
Thankyou so much to the DEV's for putting together this masterpiece.
Luna
Luna is a wonderful story about the moon a bird, an Owl and other animals. The game plays well with out VR, but the mouse is a bit slower with its movements. Its a short game, and easy achievement 100%er. Game is very pretty and great for the children of all ages ;D.
I did have trouble getting last achievement, but with patience and searching internet, I managed to get last achievement. I share in my screenshot for anyone who wants a little help, and I hope it does help.

REVIEWING PC VERSION
Luna is a really specific piece when taken from the point of view of the PC gamer. It's a game made out of poetry. Because of it, writing of this review wasn't simple. Read further to find out more - TL;DR and conclusion at the very end.
When I was buying this game, there were plenty of reviews concerning the VR version of it but I didn't find any review about the PC version. Therefore, I made a flip-a-coin decision after which I decided to buy the game, even though there were some cons speaking against the purchase: short story, repetitiveness, lack of replaybility, lack of challenge plus no VR experience for which it was made previously and actually no "easter-eggs" or special game concepts in PC version. The price of 10,5 Euros could have been also taken into account by some gamers but when it comes to independent developers, I close my eyes and just buy it.
The game itself is a complete dream, poetry made into the game. It's just a contemplative piece, although there isn't even a single word spoken. The story's still heartmoving somehow as you are playing as the Bird (Nightingale?) finding his way home. The quests are made as puzzle which may be easily solved on the computer. However, cons stated in previous paragraphs still count. Therefore I recommend every PC player to think the purchase twice. The player must know he's a poet in his heart and he didn't come to play this game but to have an aesthetic experience with some interaction. For better experience, it's good to play the game in the evening or during the night which actually helps to achieve the contemplative feeling effectively. If you just want to have solid gameplay experience and aren't interested in poetry of the game at all, just don't buy it (for PC, VR experience may be different but I can't have an opinion on that now).
TL;DR (REVIEWING PC VERSION)
Pros:
+aesthetic experience (but reduced because of NO VR)
+heartmoving story of the Bird when finding his way home
+interesting game concept and environments
(may be added) +independent developers
Cons:
-lack of replaybility
-quest-repetitiveness
-short gameplay
(may be added) - price
As you see, it's very hard to make a conclusion from equal number of pluses and minuses. Nevertheless, personally I recommend this game but only to those who are poets somehow, as I stated before and I still think there may be some poet PC gamers which may be disappointed by the game. Other types of gamers will probably dislike the game as a whole.
This is one of those game that places itself in the middle of "buy" and "don't buy". I guess its more of a part game/part interactive experience kind of thing. Don't expect it to feature some hardcore puzzles.
Pro: the story is simple
Pro: virtual world is really stunning
Con: Its short. took me an hour to finish
Con: the puzzles are too simple
Luna is perfect for introducing people to VR - one can play it seated and just quietly take in the story. It's a short game, but take your time with the environments and just play around. Good for younger players too.
I bought this based on the personnel connection to Journey (my second favourite game of all time). It is a charming slow and simple VR experience that is a lovely game world to be in. While I very much liked it, when you have played the first of the levels, you have experienced what most of the other levels are like, there is a lot of cut'n'paste with slight changes in assets. It feels like the basis of a great game, but the dev team didn't have the confidence or budget to explore it further. As it stands it is expensive for what you get with maybe about 2 hours gameplay (ignore the time played on my account, I launched it from Rift and Steam doesn't track that properly), but it is something I will dip into again when I want to relax or to demo to people.
Pro's:
Graphics are beautiful and charming
Audio adds to the magic nicely
Cons:
Too short, cut'n'paste gameplay loop used to try to pad it out into a game
Gameplay not fleshed out enough
