No real payoff.
I wish the main character can date with lizzy, feels like the MC Is not part of the game, cant have real romantic
Art was nice
Story was not that great
Got a few laughs out of it
Gender doesn't really matter for main character
Got it 75% off
This is what happens when a plot on the level of 12 year old is put into adult novel. I think solitaire and minesweeper have a better and more coherent story than this. Even games with completely broken English would be better to read and follow... Wasted time for artist and developers. I highly doubt the plot and characters were written by a sober adult....
Sorry to say that, but I have to say - don't buy it for the full price. It's not the crap, but not worth what Steam currently wants you to pay for it.
If this is the authors' first time, then good job with starting something, it can be enjoyable and I see the potential, but sorry to say - there so many things to fix and think over that I cannot say people should buy this game by the price it currently has. Maybe if you get 75% discount, then maybe it's worth buying and trying out to support people who definitely have some talent that needs to be worked on.
Dear authors, the graphics are really good and writing, while needs more work, was good enough and enjoyable for the first try. But if it's not your first time, then... well, you get the point I guess.
Now to the point with little more detailed points:
The story is very simple and I could enjoy some of it, it's not something I turned off right after starting to play it. And graphics were really cute and well-drawn, also liked the porn part.
But then, the storyline itself could be much more fleshed out, expanded in many more ways than it did. The relations between each of characters here are simplified and - what's for me the greatest sin of this game - nailed down to the floor, to stay in one place and be not touched.
Seriously, making a visual novel with choices that doesn't matter at all?!? There are only 2 that are actually changing anything you'd miss out, others are "just pick and we will give you few more lines", not even an additional picture or sort of. Nothing. And I'm saying this after unlocking all achievements and picking all choices.
Like I said before, the graphics are really good and I really praise the artist. But I'd say, what was here was very little, again, for the price of this game. Especially when despite "choices" you have one-lined story where the ending is still the same whatever you do. Like, 3 or 4 more pictures if you didn't follow the right choices? Sorry, but it didn't satisfy me.
All in all, please feel
While playing I kept thinking Happy Campers is the faded copy of Army Gals. A guy stranded in a forest with a teacher and two girls. Plain story, boring dialogues, weird characters behaviours, some plastic-texture nudes. On the internet you may find free Visual Novels much more interesting and with better nudes.
Originally, I assumed this game would be purely masturbatory material, but I was mistaken. While there are a slew of racy CGs and scenarios, there also was an unexpected emotional element, character-centric plot and development, and some hard-hitting lessons. I'm glad I took advantage of the summer sale to get this, obviously for more reasons than I anticipated.
the art is really good and the comedy was very entertaining.
not to mention that the characters were very good.
i also really like that these characters have their own desires instead that you can date them because you chose the '' be nice to her option'' twice.
only problems i have is that your choices in dialog dont matter much as its doesnt give you much of a diffrent ending. would have loved if your choices had more impact. other then that i have not much complaint for the few i spend on this novel.
Alrighty! Got dat thing done, time to review!
Happy Campers is - like mentioned in the description - a lighthearted Visual Novel,
taking place on a abandoned campsite, where you get stuck with your 3 fellow
campers due to misfortune.
We got Mai: Your typical derpy grown-up that messes up everything,
Lizzy: a 8-year-old-minded nudist full of fun and Sadie: a rough badass.
You can chose your gender and name yourself.
Lets get to the pros and cons!
Pro: The art is lovely, the hentai is well drawn
Pro:: It really does well with its fan service
Pro:: The 18+ patch brings some spice with it (I wouldn't recommend playing without it)
Pro:: The game has plenty comedic moments, isn't taking it to serious
Pro:: Barely to non misspellings
Pro:: Despite being nothing to special, the three girls feel lively
Con:: The enormous amount of lacking sound. I think about 70% of the game is silent -
no sounds, no music. Since there wasn't even a main-theme in title I guess this is some
kind of bug or the download is somehow corrupted or whatever. Yikes.
Con:: The choices you make don't seem to have that much of an impact, if even they are
just going to change up the ending a little bit. I would have liked to have atleast some more
lines or a different direction the scene is going based on my pick.
Con:: The main character - yourself. I didnt play the male route - why would I? So I cant
tell for sure, but somehow the genderpick doesn't seem to be as heavy as it should be. I dont
recall extra scenes rewarding me for being a woman in this scenario.
Con:: The main characters personality. I really like the three girls. Sure there is a bit of
klishee going on, but nevermind that. They all do their part in the story. Yourself on
the other hand... you are completely faceless. You dont know what you look like and
your acting is completely horrible. I didn't enjoy being this person a little bit... it felt like
she didn't belong in this game at all. Boring, emotionless and not having the spirit.
She REALLY drained the whole experience.
Con:: The main characters appereance. I guess it was the whole point of this thing to
never see your actual self, so you get more into thinking yourself into the situation,
rather than playing a setup character. But 1. the character was VERY setup (see
previous Con) and 2. it clearly didn't work out that well not seeing you in the
hentai and overall scenes, like again... you are just being faceless and empty.
Con:: A bit spoilery... so dont read that part unless you finished the game...
I felt like the game took away its drama and threat to easily everytime. Why not
have the girls in some trouble? Like there IS actually someone else in the woods, or they
dont just come back without ANY issues after leaving for long, or the busdriver DOESNT
show up at first and the game continues in a somewhat tense manor, giving the opportunity
to bond and play with each other under completely different circumstances.
All right, so far so good. Final statements!
I played a couple of games from this developer and Happy Campers sure is different.
But I knew that. I expected a silly, cute game with lots of boobs and stupid plott devices to make me chuckle some times during the playthrough. And I sure as hell wasn't disappointed. There is no... mindblowing lovestory, no hardcore battles or magic. Its a simple, lighthearted adventure and if you look at it and play it with that having desired and in mind, buying this game is a good idea.

Favourite character: Lizzy - I love this weird idiot so much xD
Favourite scene: The honey-eating and the bongo-drums
Favourite theme: ... heh. Yeah. Out of the 1 or 2 of them? Hmpf.
Fun little yuri *adventure* that gave me quite a few laughs :) The art is as always wonderful from Razzart, but I felt rather perplexed by the lack of a score / music. -There's just a little bit during the spooky stories scene around the campfire, other than that there's nothing (This could be a bug from the H-patch). But despite that I really liked the game a lot. The characters are well written, and each stood out as memorable and you got to really like them all. It's not a very long game, and I suppose it's not intended to be either. -This is just a nice relaxing and fun game. -Something perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon kind’a thing. I very much recommend this one as a fun sexy break from reality.
But do get the 18+ H-patch from Razzart Visual, the girls are so lovely.
I was hoping to like this game, I LOVED Love Ribbon, I must of replayed it about 3 times. I expected this not to be as good but...well good..It's just.. I didn't like the characters cos they don't explain much about the person..ah the weird one who seems out of it most of the time..is she a genius of some sort or is she just loony or has some condition? The "special interaction" with her is...well WEIRD, uncomfortable, it's the worst I've had in a VN. Peeking on the other two was boring, some dialogue was ok, few choices to make.
I love Razz anyway, will try other VNs later on but this, was not what I expected, I'm just happy I bought it with a good discount, I'd be quite unahppy if I had pay it full lol
Wow, this game... Where do I even start with this?
Maybe I will mention that I really liked the other VNs by Razz (even somewhat enjoyed the very much mediocre Catch Canvas). Here you can find traces of similar talent, with some well-written dialogues and very, very nice looking art, both when it goes to sprites and CGs. Even the backgrounds were all pleasing to the eye (although they could’ve been stock assets) and the music at worst felt adequate. When it goes to production values, there’s really not much to complain about here.
The story though… It’s insane, incredibly pervy and consistently switches from surprisingly serious segments, with actual meaning behind them to pure absurdity and borderline disturbing fanservice. It also presents you with an apparently mentally challenged person as only pursuable romantic interest. To be fair, the H-scene connected to her is easily avoidable, but that also makes it maybe the weirdest eroge out there, where you’re actually encouraged to avoid any sexual encounters as the protagonist unless you want to feel like a scumbag. The only place where sex will always happen is between two other female characters, where you basically peek at them making out – not that it really bothered me personally, but I know it’s not what many people expect from this kind of VN. What's also worth mentioning, most choices in the game have only very minor consequences, not really affecting the general storyline.
As many people noticed already, the protagonist gender choice doesn’t seem to affect anything – not just nothing major, I literally don’t remember any line of text referring to the fact that protagonist was female when I played as such. Also, at some points it was clear that situations were thought of as if the MC was male. Even in Catch Canvas, which wasn’t brilliantly written in general, this was done much, much better.
To be completely fair, I can’t say I was bored with this VN or had a completely awful time with it, but it did feel like the weirdest and at times the most uncomfortable thing I’ve read on Steam. It definitely made me laugh, but I don’t think it can be recommended unless you’re really curious (like I was) or you’re looking for the kind of “it’s so bad it’s good” experience. It has its merits and visuals are at times REALLY nice to look at - but be warned, you have to leave any expectation of sanity and good taste at the gate, when you decide to enter Camp Bearfoot.

PS If you're interested in quality western VNs, check out my curator page.
A bit overpriced, but it has a certain charm that makes it stand out.
Also it has a lot of "its so bad its funny" segments.
Plus, large not-to-scale anime tiddies, you all know what you're really come here for.
Enjoy an adventure unlike any other and be proud to play one-handed.
33 minutes was all it took for me to have done everything you could do. Was hoping for a little bit more length to a $1o VN. Love Razzart's other works, like Love Ribbon, but can't say I recommend this one.
First of all, yes, this game is absolutely as bad as all the reviews say. I had to see it for myself. While I agree with the badness, I also found myself laughing...a lot. And I sincerely hope that's what the devs were going for with this - humor - lots of laughs at the sheer ridiculousness of it. Because if not, I am deeply disturbed...
It's also a serious stretch to call this a game. There is only one ending. The "choices" affect nothing more than a few lines of dialogue. There is one actual choice of something you can do or not do that branches the story slightly but brings you quickly back to the same ending.
As for the 18+ content, I consider the game itself to be 18+ It is extremely inappropriate in a lot of ways to begin with. All the patch does is add two anatomical details. It adds nothing else - no new scenes, no new dialogue.
Again, not recommended, but you might enjoy it if you go into it like I did expecting it to be bad and you aren't easily offended. I enjoyed this for the moments of comedy (some great dialogue) and a few instances of surprisingly deep conversations about relationships, but I can't call it good overall.
I'd like to give it a neutral recommendation, but Steam doesn't allow for that. I'd recommend it on sale, not at full price.
This isn't Razzart's best title, I will admit I'm a bit disappointed.
But, I didn't think it was as bad as some other reviewers.
I liked the art but found nothing memorable in the story. I also dislike the ditz-is-really-a-genius cliche'.
I wanted to like this game, and I really wanted to recommend it. But unfortunately I can’t. I enjoy Razz’s work quite a lot and Zetsubou’s writing as well. However, Happy Campers is a badly written visual novel with the weirdest dialogue I’ve probably read so far in a fan service game.
The art style is alright, I have nothing to complain about since this is a fan service game. The story is… Okay? I mean, I’ve seen worse. It starts somewhat decent to be honest, but then it just turns out bad. The MC doesn’t do s*hit, they only look at things happening and they barely interact with the girls.
You can only romance one girl, Lizzy. And she is the dumbest character I’ve seen in a while. She talks and acts like she has some sort of mental disability, and it wasn’t cute at all and made me uncomfortable. I wanted to romance the other two since they seemed a bit more interesting (at least not Lizzy-level-of-personality), but you can’t. Your choices are a) being with Crazy Lizzy or b) ending up alone. Also, the dialogue is really bad and cheesy.
I’m glad that the developers changed the description of the game based upon the feedback at least. I still like them a lot. But please, remember how bad Happy Campers turned out before you think about writing another similar VN. I don’t want to put this title as a “stain” in your career, what I’m saying is: everyone has their ups and downs and this title is, at least to me, a down. But don’t let that discourage you. It happens, it’s part of life. I wish you both good luck with your next releases, and hopefully they will be better than HC. I’ve seen you do way better works.
2/10. I wish there was an ending where Jason would appear and kill them all.
Quick summary: Razzart Visual does a Sakura game.
When this VN showed up on my Steam frontpage, I thought it looked pretty trashy; but when I saw it was from the studio behind the fantastic Starlight Vega and Love Ribbon, I decided to take a chance and see if it was more than met my eyes. Well... not quite.
Graphics: 7/10
Most of the art on this game is truly beautiful: backgrounds are gorgeous and detailed, CGs are well done and in a way that flows seamlessly with the general art style of the game... but character sprites do leave a lot to be desired, and the humongous proportions of the entire cast quickly becomes embarrassing rather than titillating. Which is problematic when it's the one part of the graphics you're supposed to focus on.
Sound: 4/10
No voice acting whatsoever, and the music is rather average; not good enough so I'd go and buy the OST, but not bad enough I'd turn it off either, and for the most part it's a good fit.
Story: 6/10
No way around it: this *is* for the most part the trashy eroge VN it appears to be at first glance, with a plot as ridiculous as your average Sakura game, and not much more developed either. Characters are shallow, situations contrived, fanservice aplenty, and oh dear Lord the snakes, why.
And yet it's kinda fun when all's said and done; it feels less like an amateur making stupid mistakes, and more like a professional writer having one drink too many and deciding he no longer gives a crap. Thus, the game does have brief bursts of brilliance, both within itself as well as in a more meta context--the sheer length they keep the whole snakes subplot going is so audacious you can't help but laugh.
Longevity: 0/10
Took me only 2 hours of playtime to 100% the game, and outside of two choices near the end, whatever choice you get affects one or two lines of dialogue at most. So, no.
Conclusion
To anyone in the market for a Sakura game (you know who you are), I'd strongly recommend this: it's got far better backgrounds, no censorship, and is cheaper to boot. To anyone else... see if you're in the mood for playing a game that actively has you laughing at it instead of with it. Still hitting Recommend because, well, I did have fun after all, I just don't think it's for everybody, or even most people.
This is... an interesting visual novel. So you are trapped in the wilderness because your instructor is an idiot. You can play as either a male or female. Through a number of choices you can end up having a fun time or... end up with one of the girls. And by that, I mean only one girl is a possible connection as the other two girls... are rather interested in each other.
Also, the one you can acquire is a bit of a... ditz. And whether the relationship continues... well that's still a bit unclear.
There is a patch that allows you to see more explicit pictures, which considering you already see those pics (just with strategic white dots)... well, it is a free patch, so...
This was my first eroge visual novel, and I was dissapointed. Playing a man or woman, as featured in the game description, doesn't matter!
- Con: Choosing your gender matters very little. You're obviously the same guy in the Lizzy sex scene, even if you chose a woman for your gender. The novel just omits a few lines about your "sausage" if you pick a "woman".
- Con: The artwork is sparse. Tripling the amount of unique art would make this a pro.
- Con: You can only actually "get with" one girl, the other two do their own thing.
- Pro: The two that do their own thing is the most yuri part of the game, but not gonna blow your mind.
- Con: Decisions are few and matter little, this isn't a deep choose-your-own adventure novel.
[*]Pro: I learned that you shouldn't poop near your own camp, it attracts animals like Bears.
I hope that this game was a test to see if they could make money with the absolute minimum effort invested... and that the test fails.
Play as a male or female protagonist - not that it matters, because you spend almost all your time as a passive observer, and in the one instance you don't, you'll see references to your male genitalia even when playing as a female. [This one might have been fixed, so kudos for that.]
Visual novel about camping with three sexy women - and seeing them do baffling, nonsensical things just so they can get naked and/or contort into awkward positions. Watch two of them have fun with each other, and enjoy your fill of the mentally deranged, snake loving third one.
Interactive choices - one of them MIGHT even change the story slightly!
Uncensored content available - and the pics that aren't outright bizarre are actually nice to look at. Too bad they were wasted with this horrible narrative.
This one is definitely the worst game so far from the publisher, and I advise you to give it a wide berth. Unless you have a fetish for demented girls making it with snakes, then this might be your only hope to get that itch scratched.
The art is very good, music/sound ain't bad. This game just barely made the passing grade. What killed it for me was the lack of character development and story (Although I don't think most of us cares for that). The multiple choices (only 2 each time) didn't seem to have any impact on the story except for maybe the last one. There's plenty of nudity as the girls lost their sense of decency/their mind during camp.
