Best Star Wars combat of all time.
Best lightsaber game
played 26 hours of boring combat, boring cutscenes, boring characters, boring everything. why did i do this? don't ask me
I've finished this game over 150 times when I was a teen. It still rocks.
Best Star Wars game ever made, either this or Outcast.
Graphics are of course a little dated but this game still holds up especially when it comes to all the fun of light saber battles, if only they did not make it so the main character had to be named Jaden.
old game with interesting but shotty mechanic system. some how this is the only real action jedi game that gives you freedom to build your own character and the multiplayer fun fun too.
One of the earlier Star Wars games I ever played and an absolute classic!
I never understood the hate this game got. While I haven't played the campaign since 2011 and have only been on multiplayer since, I've got distinct memories of having fun with the inbuilt NPC spawner, setting up custom fights in otherwise peaceful or easy levels, using Mind Trick Lvl. 3 to start fights and exploit glitches with the jet troopers. The aforementioned multiplayer servers may have been down for ages, the Bot system (I believe it was somewhat revolutionary at the time to have bots in multi?) makes up for it and is generally fun, even if the AI is antiquated. I'd recommend a play to anyone.
Even if the general consencus is that it lives in the shadow of Outcast, I actually enjoy Acadamy more from a gameplay perspective, especially with the improvements to bots/fights in the multiplayer side.
Got this from the Christmas discount. This game is very good and fun and worth it. Its graphics arent the best but it is what I expected from an early 2000s quake platform game. Its controls do need to be binded quickly when you start. But those are minor things and the story and the joy I get out of swinging a lightsaber that is actually a one hit KO as it should is so satisfying. Another slight plight is some of the cinematic scenes dont load right. But I fixed this by always making a save right before I finish a level and if it dosent load right I leave the game and load my save.
My favorite STAR WARS Game of them all. I've been playing this game ever since i was a kid and its still just as fun as it was then. Imagine a complete remastered version of this game, or maybe a sequel with the Jaden character.
I absolutely recommend this game as well as it's 'brother' Jedi Knight: Jedi Outcast. It is awesome still after some twenty years. Being an X Generation guy, I cannot do anything else but adore this game along with its rightful brother Jedi Knight: Jedi Outcast. In these times of remasters, I certainly wish they remastered these two as well, but after I enjoyed them back in their years countless times, I still think that they still are the best Star War games ever made.
Hope you enjoy them as well.
May the Force be with you always.
AWESOME!! A great substitute to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Survivor if you're running on a potato (like me) or are craving something more after playing them.
Still a lot of fun, a true classic.
This game is fun and better than most of the recent Star Wars instalments; however, there are frequent crashes and bugs. The saving system does not help with this as I find most often the game will come across a bug or glitch during a cut scene, and the game seems to save during every cut scene; this sounds good in theory, but most of the time leads to hours and hours of progression being wasted as upon reloading your last save you stumble back into the same bug or glitch. Outside of this, the game is entertaining, jumping around and swinging a lightsaber in every direction or taking down a Sith lord with a little blaster, watching his body fling around the room as he ragdolls.
played when it released, still fun, learning advanced combat maneuvers is challenging and enjoyable
nice to have it again, but i missed the multiplayer, not the single player, how to play it in multiplayer?
are there still servers on? do i have to change something from the steam version to see the old servers???
Probably one of the best star wars games of all time
The last great star wars game. Must buy
This is the best star wars game outside of KOTOR, classic star wars games DO NOT come better than this, this is literally the best youll find on the face of this planet.
If you want lightsaber fighting but without being animation-locked and can actually pull off crazy and shit acrobatics that you can fluidly bumble around with on the fly, then this is what you wanna play.
This is the ultimate Star Wars fanservice game for fans of the true Star Wars universe (not the Disney one). Rather than focusing on Kyle Katarn, this game instead follows his apprentice, Jaden Korr. Although he is canonically a human male in the novels, like with Revan and the Exile in the KOTOR games, you get yo essentially create your own version of Jaden as either male or female and either human or alien. The game also has a light side and dark side ending just like Dark Forces 2. The combat is more or less the same as Jedi Outcast but with the addition of dual sabers and double bladed sabers, and the story is divided into small missions that you tackle in any order, with important story missions happening at certain points in the game. The multiplayer is still alive and has a thriving modding community, I would recommend JK Hub for finding mods and fixes for the game.
The fanservice aspect comes from the many EU locations and characters featured in the game, as well as the power fantasy of playing your own Jedi character who fits into the Star Wars canon (the true canon, not the Disney one). There's appearances from Luke Skywalker, Chewbacca, Wedge Antilles and Boba Fett., as well as Marka Ragnos from old republic lore. If you play only one Jedi Knight game, I'd recommend this one, you get your own Jedi Padawan story, and a great multiplayer and modding community, as well as lightsaber combat that puts any modern Star Wars game to shame.
Even after being over 20 years old, I have to admit. This game is extremely fun, the combat is so unique and entertaining.
The definitive "create your own Jedi and climb through the ranks" experience
Picked this game up from a yard sale years ago, finally replaced my old copy via steam. Just like i remember, lots of fun. Straightforward enough and plenty of ways to complete a mission (can rely on guns or your lightsaber).
One of the very best Star Wars titles available to this day, simply unforgettable
Loved this game as a kid on my old xbox, it was easily one of the first games i ever bought on steam, and the 400 hours is clear proof this game excels all recent and future "Star Wars" games, visuals that are still acceptable, and the best Lightsaber combat system ever created.
Chopped a dudes arm off then ejected him from a hypersonic train with a blast of force lighting. This was my good side run.
When I played this as a kid I never got very far. It was great to see the full game.
Best saber battle game ever made ... pre disney starwars is the best storytelling and gaming there ever was...period
A lot of effort clearly went into the voice acting, cutscenes and design, as they are all very well made. However, the gameplay is just... boring. Most of the mechanics, such as the shooting, movement and lightsaber combat, are simply not enjoyable. The only truly fun parts are the Force powers, but you can only use them sparingly, and they don't compensate for how unsatisfying the rest of the game feels. If you're really into Star Wars, though, you might still enjoy it.
Can't believe it's taken me this long to leave a review, but this game is truly a masterpiece among Star Wars games. The saber combat is top tier, ans the story is serviceable, and even better if you've played the other games in the series. Kyle Katarn and Luke Skywalker from the EU's post trilogy universe is amazing.
One of the best star wars games if you include Movie Battles 2 as part of the offering.
Classic star wars game set in the Legends timeline. Good story, and great introduction to the post-Endor galactic civil war situation. These old games and the books that tie them together are some of the best sci-fi/space fantasy stories you can find.
i feel like a child again playing this on steam
Its great i love the dismemberment
Game doesn't work.
One of the best ever
classic
Great game
It has the best combat system
This game and the first are classics. Absolutely a must try!
This is a fun and challenging game to play. I installed and played this game back in July and defeated it less than a week. This game is the sequel to Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outacst. For some reason I can't get Jedi Outcast to play. I successfully downloaded the game. What's a person to do about that?
Force choke is the best ability when played on the easiest difficulty.
10/10 would throw Sith off of buildings again.
Very heavily emulated. Graphics are poor, movement controls are super sensitive. Overall Not very playable on mouse and keyboard. Game does not support controller either. Not Recommended.
After changing the compatibility mode for both exe files (Right-click -> Properties -> Compatibility on 'jamp.exe' & 'jasp.exe' in 'Steam\steamapps\common\Jedi Academy\GameData') to 'Windows XP (Service Pack 3)' to prevent crashes, and enabling VSync to avoid getting stuck in cutscenes, it was finally playable. And it's awesome! PS: If you want to play the game in 1920x1080, here’s a good guide.
STAR WARS™ Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy™ is a great game.
Love it
anything that includes old republic content is peak gold
I liked this one more than the second, probably because I played it as a kid. Great memories.
Good old Classic Star Wars game. Just love them because of the good old times when star wars was on its prime.
