I honestly hate to not recommend a game, however this game was so difficult for me I could not complete it. I had to ask my partner to complete the levels for me, so that this game would not affect my completion rate.
Loving this game, it is the first of its kind that I have ever played. I still kinda stink at it, but I'm having fun with it!
Not all that great. There isn't a sense of achivement or any significant progression or unlocks which makes the game repeatitive and boring. There are better rouge like games that are much better and keep interst.
Decent enough but not much variety, in guns enemies areas or things to do.
6/10 Game itself aint that bad, but poor gamepad controls... You cant even customize them!
I haven't gotten that far in the game yet. I mean, by the time I'm writing this, I've only played like 30-something minutes.
But I wanna stop playing. I might uninstall or even remove this game from my steam library.
Why, you might ask? The main reason is , as someone else's review has stated, the room is too small for the amount of bullets and enemies in them. The basic character can dash, but it's not like "Dodge Roll" in Enter the Gungeon where you evade bullets. No, it's the fish's "Roll" in Nuclear Throne. You can get hit by bullets while doing the dash.
Well at least Nuclear Throne is one big room, so your Roll is more likely to be useful there.
Also the movement in this one is kinda wonky (doesn't feel nice). For those of you who know Sploder, it's like this game is made using Sploder on the "Physics Game Creator". For those of you who don't, try to remember the simplest, most un-smooth, flash-game-like level of controls. That's how walking in this game feels like.
4/10 get it on a sale with >89%+ price discount if you want to learn how to NOT make a game and have a bad experience and a good lesson in general.
The Lesson I learned is : I really should look at steam ratings before buying games.
I usually enjoy games of this genre and am also partial to sci-fi so this game should have been right up my alley. However the game just isn't fun to play. The characters, enemies and environments are dull and nothing about the game made me want to keep playing after a few initial forays.
Check out Nuclear Throne or Enter the Gungeon for a more polished and satisfying experience.
Yet another game I'd like to give a 'Mixed' review. The game isn't that bad nor good. It purely lacks content and I think that's the main issue. There are few things that I found disappointing about it:
● Character mechanics / upgrades - rather tame, special abilities don't affect the gameplay very much, even after maxing out the upgrades.
● Weapons variety - well, since there are no weapon tiers you can get any best weapon from the 1st floor and carry it till the end of the game without any chance to upgrade / switch it for something better
● Difficulty / length - Game is super short (less than 3h for 100% completition) and have some issues with difficulty curve (first two stages are actually the hardest ones).
● Bugs - not too many but some of them were pretty annoying
On a bright side game can offer you few fun mechanics (like different types of enviromental damage), simple and intuitive controls, awesome pixelarts and nice level design.
Overally I'd rate it 4/10, worth trying out if you're looking for something short and easy to play for a while.
Roguelike is a strech. There is no leveling up or advancing since it is impossible to survive the first two ships and each death is a reset to square one. There is almost no carry over between lives and no way to get a better character. The game needs way more items and better explination of what items do. This is an arcade shooter designed to eat quarters.
Good game, it works fine, it's enjoyable and it's a decent twin-stick shooter. It's nothing amazing, it's quite short and not very hard but it is fully functional. Get it on sale ;)
Poor man's EtG. Controls are wonky, little variation, weapons underpowered, no explanation for pickups, repetitive. If you like frustrating bullet-hell rogue-lites, you might like it. Sorry, but can't recommend the game.
Game is very difficult. I never asked for mercy but by god I will make all the aliens beg for it. It takes a bit of time to learn all of the power ups and primary and secondary weapons. There is a tutorial which explains pretty much the entire game, but leaves most of the strategy planning up to you. How you want to fight, how you want your load out to be (assuming you can purchase with diamonds (in-game currency)) before you go onto your mission. There is a lot of exploration and devastation to be had for something that looks somewhat simple. But you can really kill some time on here. I definitely can recommend this to anyone interested or even anyone just looking something to play.
tl:dr Easy to learn, hard to master. Thumbs up.
Spaceship Looter is very similar to Enter the Gungeon but it has few key differences. I love the art style, I'm just not a huge fan of the playstyle, mechanics and in-game rules. I'd say the game is decent - there are better bullet hell shooters out there in my opinion.
The feel with a controller can use a little work. It does not shoot accurately when you use an analog controller to aim, which makes it really hard to get anything done.

Lame rogue-lite with little weapon variation, enemy types, and way too short.
The game is not bad, but it is not great either, I would say a 6 out of 10. I feel like other games offer better value for the money, like for example Enter The Gungeon. That said, the game is quite cheap and it is fun for what it is, it is just not 'the best' out there and without being able to permanently acquire items to improve (see major complain number one) it feels like it lacks the 'pull me in' factor to improve.
Major complaints.
The number one complaint I have is that there are 2 types of currency: one temporary (meaning it gets reset when you die) on permanent (meaning if you die you keep them) with the permanent currency you can buy things like health upgrades or slightly better weapons. But they are only TEMPORARY, you get them for 1 run and then you lose them. Some items are quite expensive and require 20+ playthroughs to get enough currency to unlock something you can use for 1 playthrough. Combined with the game being quite hard (like Nuclear Throne hard) that make it quite demotivating.
The number two complaint I have is that you can easily get into a situation where you cannot escape and you will take damage. For example if enemies shoot an exploding item that you did not anticipate then you are in a situation you cannot control. There is no 'dodge roll' for example. This could be lack of skill on my part, but it seems to me like sometimes you cannot escape.
Minor complaints:
The enemies are very generic. Most of the ones you encounter are reskins of the same kind of thing. The bullet patterns are somewhat the same,
The upgrades seem limited (both weapons and other items), meaning they don't drastically alter the game play, it's just more of the same... you do a little more damage, you shoot a little faster, etc.
I have played this game from alpha (?) version with another art :)
So I am an old fan of these space adventures.
It's a magic when somebody without artist can do awesome pictures with such a nice palette.
I liked the gameplay, plot and music of this game.
And I like the developer continues working with this universe in his next project.
Although the graphics and general gameplay are nice, this is essentially a slightly cheaper but massively less interesting relative of Enter The Gungeon.
The game itself plays just fine, although without invincibility frames on the dodge it is virtually impossible to avoid certain bullet storms. The mechanics of the game however are just not interesting. The guns are all just, things that shoot bullets or things that shoot lasers. The item pickups are vague single use squares with a slightly more vague image on them, which have a kind of but not very useful effect on use. The special ability of each class is basically pointless. Most of the envrionmental hazards are not worth taking advantage of, and the environmental hazards are often too subtle to really notice consistently.
Although the rooms are decently randomized, they're all just squares filled with enemies and objects. So they might as well not be randomized at all due to how same they all end up looking and feeling to play in. It also taking noticeable amounts of time grinding through each biome of levels to reach the next one, making progression slow and even more tedious.
The unlock system is very unsatisfying, most of the perks to acquire for the character are just upgrades to their useless special ability, to make it slightly less useless. And the only real unlockable items at the hub are upgrades and equipment that can be purchased multiple times, only effecting your current character and thus becoming null when they die.
While the game itself is solid from a functional standpoint, it mostly just fails to be anything other then bland. Nearly all of the fundamental mechanics are done in a way that is just poorly thought out and not intriguing in any way to interact with. Which makes the game really just a waste of time because, you could get the same genre of Rogue-like shooter experience from multiple other games like Enter The Gungeon; but with significantly more satisfying mechanics and fun gameplay in general. It took only an hour and a half nearly for playing this game to reach boring.

The first thing I need to say:
Great, great, GREAT customer support!
I found a bug and had problems to shoot in the game. The Developer himself got in contact to me to solve the problem so my game is running fine again.
So the support is definetly a 11/10!
Now the game itself.
It is a great Rogue Like / Rogue Lite to play now and then.
It has beautiful graphics in my eyes, not everyone is a fan of that kind of artstyle, but it looks really good!
The weapon varieties are good so far, I haven't found every weapon or used every weapon but from what I've seen it is definetly not bad.
Controls are standard, but not changeable. But I won't change them anyway, because the standards are perfect.
The characters have the gun itself to shoot and another ability, for example to throw a grenade.
You really can do much in the game to kill the enemies, there objects you can throw / shoot at the enemies so they die, that offers a lot of cool playstyle-options.
Some problems I had or bad experiences were that I couldn't shoot.
I play it mostly on my laptop and for many tasks I need a normal mouse and not a touch pad. With that I couldnt shoot somehow, and that was my only bug yet. But that got fixed, the developer helped me too!
Something negative is that it feels unbalanced somehow, when 10 enemies are in a very small room and you feel like you got no chances. That's the worst and probably only problem I've had so far. You can fight em all tho! Takes just a little bit of extra salt and skill ;)
Some people say it is repetetive. I don't really think that way. Yes, many enemies are the same and not a too high variety of enemies.
But in which game is it not repetetive? If you are bad in Isaac, it is repetitive too, CS:GO is even worse if it comes to repetitiveness I think too. (Don't kill me for my opinion about csgo please)
Overall, I think this game is underrated, it has potential and plays well and good on even older devices.
I was looking for that especially, because there was no rogue like / Rogue Lite that was playable on my laptop, now I've found one.

My final opinion:
Spaceship Looter: Buy it, it is worth it, definetly! Great customer support from the developer himself. Gameplay is fun for a while. There are not too many bugs, I haven't seen any at least so far. Only the not-able-to-shoot bug but Restarting the laptop / Computer and reinstalling helps!
glitchy, not fun, gets really repetitive, character designs are awful, literally just squares. Guy you start off with is not interesting and is literally just master chief. Fighting spaces are small, which can be fine but it doesnt really work in this game. its just not a very fun game all in all. Play something like nuclear throne or enter the gunegon. I get this is early access but still, i dont think its a very good game, its been out for a month, so. I think this game will drift off into an abyss of unknown steam games. 7 user reviews including this one after one month, dont waste your money.
I don't write many reviews for games (at least at the time of writing this I hadn't), but I feel that Spaceship Looter is deserving of one.
Now, if you are like me you'd have seen Spaceship Looter come up in either the 'Upcoming' or the 'New Releases' tab and thought 'Here we have another roguelike shooter'. For me that is a good thing as I love collecting roguelikes of every shape and size but I understand that many will think 'Another one?!?!'. Well let me tell you now, if you have even a passing interest in this genre, you are in for a treat.
Spaceship Looter does pretty much everything right straight off the bat. There is a basic tutorial available that lets you familiarise yourself with the controls then you are teleported straight onto your first ship to search for the aforementioned loot. Many roguelikes at this stage would ease you in gently; have a few easier levels to slowly guide you into the game. Spaceship Looter does not. Spaceship Looter hits you square in the face with its first punch and lets you know you're in for a fight! The rooms on the spaceships are small and often have a fair number of enemies in them, but by the same token the game never seems unfair, it just doesn't hold your hand. If this is your first roguelike shooter then you might struggle a bit at first but persevere because slowly but surely you'll get better. This is a game that rewards picking yourself up and trying again after every death, of which there will be many.
In a game like this where the enemies are coming thick and fast you can't afford to be fighting the controls as well and Spaceship Looter does not disappoint. The controls are extremely fluid and respond in exactly the manner that they should. I will mention here that I prefer using a controller to play the game but had a bit of difficulty with the first set of bindings that were on offer. The dev really stepped up to the plate though and contacted me directly to discuss the problem and what could be done to solve it. I'm glad to say that in my humble opinion the settings for using a controller are now familiar, and very easy to use. Massive thanks to an extremely responsive dev though, a big plus in this increasingly crowded market.
The graphics of Spaceship Looter are clean, crisp and not once are you left wondering what hit you, or if your shot connected with the enemy. You can see everything that is going on despite the gameplay being quite hectic. The sound effects are functional and clear, while the game also has an excellent soundtrack that gets the blood pumping for the fight ahead.
Like every game in the roguelike genre you can sometimes get a raw deal from RNGesus but I can't recall a single death that I've had that wasn't my fault or couldn't have been avoided by playing better. I'm probably a decent casual player at best, by no means hardcore, but if you are a hardcore player then I feel you will take a lot away from this game as it is squarely pitched at your level. My playtime isn't the highest either but I feel I have seen enough to recommend the game to you dear reader, and I will certainly return to the game to keep improving and delving further into the various spaceships on offer.
Spaceship Looter is in early access but already has more content and polish than a huge number of games in this genre. Not only do we have a responsive dev working on the game, we also have a very active dev working on the game. At the time of writing this review (10 days after early access release), we have already had 5 updates that have all improved the game in their own way. I have no doubt we'll see many more. I'd recommend the game to even those who do not like early access games because if this game was released 'as is', it would still be great, but by virtue of being in early access it will only keep getting better.
