A post-apocalyptic game where you are the only human left in a world overtaken by bowling pin robots. The last remnants of any form of society or civilization solely revolve around winning prizes from arcade games and selling them at a pawn shop. There is nothing else left to do, except consume candy and frolic to and fro between the games and carnival rides. The world as we know it is over. All that remains is infinite amusement until the universe implodes.
Good game. Successfully recreates the addictive highs and headache inducing frustrations of spending hundreds of dollars on coin pushers without having to actually spend all your life savings.
The game used to be fun way-back when, but somehwere around 2022-2023, the game started developing a lag spike that hits every minute or so, causing some elements and arcades to be completely unplayable, especially if physics is used.
I've checked every update and the game still has the spike to this day, even though some folks on the net have pointed out a potential fix.
I spent the whole day at the arcade. Got 1504 tickets exactly. Then bought a starfish plushy for 1500 tickets. Then went to the pawn shop to sell it. (total amount: 2.00$) I was depressed from then on..... (When I entered the arcade: around 45.00$ when I left: 5.00$.) Hugest waste of 20 minutes of my life....... BUT game is still great 10/10 addictive as hell
i really wanted to like this game but i've crashed twice so far and have lost hours upon hours of progress due to bugs that i think should've been caught at the start. i can't recommend the game in its current state to anyone that cares for the survival mode, i'm sure the sandbox mode is fun without having to worry about losing your stuff. as of right now, there isn't a steady flow of updates or any way to get my money back in game so i will be spending my time elsewhere, maybe logging on for the sandbox mode or the game mode where you only play the machines.
EDIT: lol, commenting on my profile just shows how people should be avoiding this game. absolute cinema. nothing i wrote in this review is wrong, and i stand by it fully. there is NO reason for the game to crash as much as it does with 5+ years under its belt. warning people that they could lose their time spent on a game because of faulty coding is what reviews are for, don't send your cronies to fix your flaws.
Fantastic arcade simulation game with a ton of content for what you’re paying.
Everything feels quite realistic. I love how there is so many things to do in the game and is getting updates because you can see you can see in the map that it will say things our coming soon. T
he bots are hilarious, there are different game modes and overall its just a really fun experience and it is defitnley worth the money if want to get it.
This is an absolute riot. If you are an arcade rat, you will scratch the itch on classical ticket games. It even has go karts and laser tag! On top of that, there is a lot of humor and care put into recreating carnie talk and other characters. My whole family is having a blast with this.
it good but game runs like dogshit, still good though.

best arcade game
better than real life arcades
The Coin Game: Virtual Arcades, Real Fun
The Coin Game is a love letter to arcades, claw machines, and those slightly sketchy carnival games you can’t resist, all wrapped up in a quirky, chaotic package. It’s cheaper than real-life arcades, less sticky, and—best of all—you can grab infinite cash from a money machine without a single moral dilemma. Let’s dive into the madness.
Graphics: 6/10
The graphics are… fine. Let’s just say they get the job done. You’re not here for jaw-dropping visuals; you’re here to chuck tokens, pull levers, and scream in delight (or rage) as you win (or lose) digital prizes. The visuals won’t wow you, but honestly, do they need to? You can see what you’re playing, and in a game like this, that’s all that matters.
Arcade Games: 9/10
This is where The Coin Game shines. From skee-ball to claw machines, every arcade staple is here, lovingly recreated in all its noisy, colorful glory. The games feel authentic, with just the right mix of skill and luck to keep you hooked.
And let’s face it—playing these games virtually is so much better than wasting $50 at a real arcade only to leave with a tiny plastic dinosaur. Here, the stakes are virtual, the prizes are digital, and the fun is infinite. Plus, no sticky floors or overpriced sodas to ruin the vibe.
Survival Mode: 7/10
Survival mode adds a layer of depth, but let’s not kid ourselves—it’s not exactly The Hunger Games. Need money? Just head to the money grab machine, scoop up a handful of cash, and go wild. It’s like a magical cheat code disguised as a game mechanic. Sure, you can try to earn money the "hard way," but why bother when you’ve got unlimited arcade fun at your fingertips?
Cheaper Than Real Life: 10/10
Here’s the best part: The Coin Game is cheaper than going to a real arcade. For the price of a few claw machine attempts IRL, you get endless hours of entertainment. Plus, there’s no shame in rage-quitting when the claw lets go of your prize at the last second. In fact, it’s encouraged.
Humor Factor: Infinite/10
The absurdity of grabbing cash from a money machine and then spending it on games you’d never play in real life is hilarious. Add in the quirky animations and the over-the-top carnival vibe, and you’ve got a game that doesn’t take itself too seriously—thankfully.
Room for Improvement: Visual Polish
While the graphics are functional, a little more polish wouldn’t hurt. It’s a minor gripe in an otherwise ridiculously fun package, but hey, we can dream of a slightly shinier virtual arcade, right?
Final Verdict: 8.5/10
The Coin Game is a delightful arcade simulator that delivers nostalgia, chaos, and value in spades. It’s not perfect, but it’s perfect for what it is: a cheaper, cleaner, and infinitely more fun way to enjoy arcade games without leaving your house.
So grab your virtual tokens, hit the machines, and revel in the joy of winning fake prizes without emptying your real wallet. It’s the arcade experience you didn’t know you needed—minus the sticky floors and crying toddlers.
The Coin Game is a remarkable game, that delivers on its promise of an accurate arcade simulation so much that I often wonder why it's so one of a kind. It's a game that delivers so much, so well, catering to a niche I never even knew I needed a game for.
I like the game and there is obviously a lot of dedication going into it from the dev.
But the stuttering ist killing this game for me and it has been years now that this problem persists.
I can live with jank, infact i love jank but stuttering with a lot of arcade games relying on timing is just pain.
I will change my review to positive once the stuttering is under control, because yes i really want to play and love this game, but not in this state.
cripplingly addicted to this game. who knows what would have happened to me if i had real money to go to real arcades with
I <3 gambling, best way to get my fix
Great game a little lag every now and then but still great game
plays on steam deck reasonably well despite the unsupported tag. that being said, its a awesome game that still needs alot of work it seems to be getting it.
9/10 Would recommend
fun game, wish it was multiplayer tho
awesome game if u like arcade games and passiomnt indi devs. this is the game for u
Saw this on Drae's youtube channel and gave it a shot. It is really well done, the games play like the real life version. Could do with more claw games but I am a little bias as I love them.
I'm an arcade janitor and the thought of funneling my tiny paycheck back into the place I work seems stupid. Instead I play The Coin Game. And at work I think to myself "this is just like The Coin Game" and continue to not spend real money there.
Fun, chill.
DON'T LET ROBO-GRANNY CATCH YOU AFTER DARK OR YOU WILL PAY
also, no black market, very sad
Even though this game does not have any goals or plot, it makes up for it with a s#!t load of arcade games and other activities.
-An 18 hole mini golf course
-Laser tag
-Go karts
-Jobs for making money
- A paper route
- baby sitting
- mowing someones lawn
- selling things at a pawn shop
[*] collecting shopping carts
- A huge carnival
- A shopping mall
-And a bunch of other stuff
The developer is still adding to the game, and regularly gives updates to the community (That alone is worth buying the game). If you're into arcade/carnival games, than I highly recommend this one.
its a really fun game
Really one of the best indie games on steam.
Kart Go Nyoom
Tickles my autism
Coin Game is a charming little game made by a single developer. You play as a teenager from the 80s or 90s and you go to arcades. That's basically it.
There are two modes, birthday mode and survival mode, with Survival mode adding hunger mechanics and systems to make the game have loss states. You earn money by doing various tasks, use that money at the arcade to win tickets, use the tickets to buy prizes and then sell the prizes, iteratively moving toward different goals like vehicles, unique prizes and keeping your home stocked with food and your pets fed.
This game doesn't do anything offensive and it doesn't do anything outstanding. Overall it's a little bit janky, but it's the type of jank where you can tell someone cared and they tried, and the central experience still exists. There's nothing that feels like it's just an unreal plugin and everything was made from the ground up. You're going to run into glitches, especially as the developer works on multiplayer mode and adapts everything to netcode, but with the chill nature of the game and persistent leaderboards and scores, it's not really usually that much of a loss.
The discord has some lovely folks and is a generally nice place to be and the surrounding community is excited for updates and the game.
Ultimately, I don't think this title is a steam chart topper and I don't think it has to be. It's a relaxing and nostalgic little romp for anyone who grew up with arcades and is very much a labour of love for the developer, who would probably still be making this without any audience to consume it. It's not going to blow your mind with graphics or an outstanding story, but even simple things like interacting with the world or using a shopping cart is an opportunity for comedy in this game, and if you take the game for the tone it's going for, it's a fun experience.
I do like the game and the idea in its core!
It does simulate these arcade machines very well and the survival world has alot of charme!
BUT its technicaly a mess with unfixed bugs, poor graphics including bad AA and constant suttering!
Since weeks an early game-economy breaking bug/glitch is left unfixed despite knowing about it.
On their discord i did not have the feel the dev really cares about anything because there is no sign of presence there - suggestions etc. are mostly left unanswered.
I want this game to succeed and thrive and thats why i try to make a wakeup call here because the current state of the game might be tollerated by its small core community but it holds the game back to make the deserved "coin".
I will change this review once the dev changed his course going forward and certain big issues have been finaly adressed.
My recommendation to potential buyers:
If you dont care about these issues and want to play these arcade games then buy it - its still fun.
Otherwise get on their discord and let the dev know why you waiting with your purchase and hope he changes certain things going forward.
It's nice because I can spend $100 trying to get a stuffed duck and not feel bad about it. Scratches the itch to play believable arcade games without actually wasting a ludicrous amount of money
its good play it
great game just slow for there updates
Yes. Everything about this is a yes.
the sad thing is most of these games, they, genz doesnt even know them, because there phones #90skid
neat idea. survival mode sucks. some machines dont work. the popcorn coin pusher game doesnt work at all. doing the babysitter job often results in toys phasing through existance causing the job to be unbeatable
so very chilled but also so very stress
The game constantly stutters, I'm on a 3090ti with Ryzen 9 and the game keeps stuttering for no given reason? Really irritating, ruins the gameplay and disrupts winning jackpots etc by freezing.
Robotic world or an Island of Arcade and its amusements.
Basically everyone' childhood memories of trying to get those tokens and items out from the machines in Amusement parks.
Variety of arcade machines to hands on,
Driving, Waterpark, indoor mini-Golf, Carnival rides,
Soft toys to collect, Tickets to muster, and Records to shatter.
Trade items at the local Pawn shop to sustain a Gamer' lifestyle.
Skills, patience, Luck is what you need.
Flawed by optimizations issues due to
stuttering from all around activities, collision mesh and bugs.
Piercing, sharp and loud background music and effects.
Cranky Controls, menu and game transitions.
If it can overcome its many flaws, developer could expand his one (or few) man team.
One of the few games with such great ideas, potential, room for growth.
Personally only been playing Survival Mode,
decorating the island, amassing wealth and enjoying myself.
Worthy a try.
In the Demo it says I can Buy the full game for 8.99 but when i come to look to buy it, the price is 13.99?
this game is the amazing! it's perfect for just relaxing and putting something on in the background and just play some classic arcade game
i would love if they added a multiplayer mode! then you could goof around with your friends
Very good game, very good.
Such an amazing game. It's great fun to just play these arcade games and earn tickets without feeling the guilt of real-world money being sucked away like it would be at a real arcade.
But I really recommend the survival mode, as it's fun to try sustaining your addiction with the in-game money you earn by doing chores and trading in your prizes.
So much content too, I'm so impressed to see how far the game has come since I last played it. I miss my old local arcade that went out of business, so I'm glad I can still experience the thrill that it always gave me.
One suggestion, I know this game focuses more on redemption games, but a light-gun game could be interesting! Either way, I'll be playing this game a lot, and I'm excited to see everything it has to offer, and what you're able to do with it in the future!
10 out of fucking 10.
This game is a work of art. Its like a open world arcade game that has endless things to do.
This is a very fun game!
The Game Is When Your Cooked but fun ngl
I keep trying to go back to this game cause it has so much potential, but every time I play, I get motion sick from it.
How this game (THESE GAMES, actually... ALL IN ONE!!!) isn't number ONE in the "40s and Older" catagory, I will not know because THIS is the Zen. Best of EVERYTHING, I cannot play this for LESS than several hours at a time! The accuracy of recreation is beyond anything else I have experienced as an "old time" gamer from the 80s. Mall arcades are BACK!!!!!!!!! Especially for all you dads who watched your kids play these games...that is what got me the most about this game... now that our kids are all grown up, I play these and shed a tear remembering the family fun at the bowling alleys, mini-golf courses, roller skating rinks, and mall arcades. ANY game that can reproduce those feelings from a user deserves a bow and a golf clap, at LEAST.
Kevin, you are a great person with an amazing group supporting you and keeping you focused (lol trust me I get it)... thank you for this labor of love that I am able to experience, I hope others are able to enjoy it as I have, for generations! My grandson just learned to hold a gaming controller, look out world, but first, he gets to learn how important it is in life to control his coins and where better of a place to do it than THE COIN GAME! -It's TRULY a generational product, thank you, team :)
