Otome Romance Jigsaws - Midnight Cinderella & Destined to Love

I don't know what is so addicting about putting puzzles together, but when I looked at the hours I've sunk into this game I had to concede defeat to the addiction. Over 100 hours of putting together pictures of pretty boys with varying puzzle piece count. I've found myself racing to see how fast I can assemble the 350 piece one and wishing there were other puzzle piece games I could enjoy. I found this an enjoyable pastime, while still questioning my life decisions. If you like puzzles and pretty boy pictures, this is a win/win situation. If you are also wondering about my sanity at this point, then this game isn't for you. (although you are not alone in that regard).

It's really interesting a puzzle game...
The cgs are really beautiful.
But 240 pieces already cost me more than 1 hour...
350 pieces is driving people crazy still.

If you enjoy puzzles and you happen to be familiar with Cybird's otome games Midnight Cinderella and DTL, then this game is for you. If you're a fan of Cybird's games, then this game is definitely for you (unless you dislike puzzles ofc!). If you like puzzles and anime art, this game is worth considering.

Pro(s):
Secondary Puzzle Game is fun and well-conceived (if not revolutionary)
Character in puzzle gives you tips or makes comments (a bit repetitive, but fun for those who like the characters)

Con:
Music is neither upbeat nor soothing (at least for the MidCin puzzles; had music off when I tried out the DTL puzzles). Repeats too soon.

TL;DR: An average to good puzzle game, but a good buy if you like puzzles and otome/anime type pictures.

Overall:
Art: Very good (but not new - these are all CGs from Cybird's two oldest games)
Puzzle pieces: Well defined, I had a few problems with selection of smaller pieces (had to click more than once, or got a different piece than intended), no problems with pieces locking together or locking into place
Music: Got too repetitive for me.
Puzzles: Appropriate challenge/ size. This is a casual game and I found it relaxing.
Bonus puzzle game: Fun (for me unexpected) timed game

PS: I would definitely buy a second or third set featuring either newer characters or the newest localized games (Ikemen Sengoku and Ikemen Revolution).

OMG this game is a nightmare.

Nah just kidding, it's fun and you get to do puzzles of cute 2D guys, what's not to love? Plus apparently you can save the puzzle halfway through, which I did not read when I bought the game, would've made my experience all the more relaxing if i'd paid attention!

Those freaking topless puzzles though... ugh, especially at 350 pieces. If you're after 100% achievements I recommend doing those 2 at 350 pieces first and then the other variations of them last, just to break it up a bit, there's only so many skin coloured pieces you can stare at and wonder where they fit before you go crazy :D

I love these Otome Romance puzzles, but I think there should be a lot more puzzles to it.

This is... a bit of an odd duck in my purchases. Frankly, I wouldn't have acquired it if it hadn't been in a bundle that was cheaper than the games in said bundle I wanted to acquire. Anyway, the puzzles seem decent enough, if the material within them is a little... risque at times. It appears they are images from a pair of Otome games. While the basic puzzles are nice, it appears you need to do a bit of a trickier mode to unlock all of the puzzles.

Still, it is decent enough to recommend.

Achievements Hunters beware, it takes forever to get the last achiev.

Apart from that, not a bad game.

I also discovered Ikemen with that game, which is a puzzle special mode where you are given a bit and need to put it right now on the puzzle.
Interesting mecanic, and it makes the 16 puzzles replayable, in a different way.

The Ikemen mode is unique and fun, and I like the chaining bonuses.
But the controlls are a bit off, meaning sometimes it doesn't register when you're putting down a piece in the right place because it's just randomly gone off like 5cm away from your mouse, which means you lose points for chaining even though you were doing it right. It also slows down the game a fair amount when you're trying to get the mouse back aligned with the game. @_@
Would also be nice to have mroe locked jigsaws so you don't unlock them all with 1 or two short games. Would feel like more of a progressive achievement.

I like the game but that aspect is really off putting. 6/10, it'd be a cringey 9/10 without that. :P

A nice relaxing game with cute pictures.

Fun and simple puzzles; don't have to worry about rotating pieces; the only down side is that you can't get 100% completion for the achievements due to a glitch where one of the puzzles freezes, causing the game to crash. :c

If you are like me and looking for something to relax yourself or/ are new to puzzles, this might just be the game for you. just simple puzzle games with nice bgm, if you want to challenge yourself try beating your own time record.

I really enjoy this unique take on puzzles. Its got some flaws... but it's pretty decent as a puzzle game. It features two play modes, a variety of different puzzles, anime artwork and steam achievements.

Pros

• Relatively easy. You don't have to flip the pieces - the correct rotation is already shown for you. There is a tray to seperate some pieces from others. You can even sort the puzzle area to show the edge pieces from the inside pieces. The characters that are featured on each stage will give you little hints. They will indicate whether you should be moving the pieces left/right, etc.
  
  
• Features 16 puzzles in all. Some of them you have to unlock, but 12 are unlocked by default. There are three sizes for puzzles: 60 pieces, 240 pieces and 350 pieces. This is a great feature for each player to choose which size of puzzle they want without having to stress out about doing them all.
  
  
• You can snap pieces together before finding the "correct spot". Not a lot of puzzle games do this and it's great to see. What I mean by this is that you can have a big section of multiple pieces that are put together but are not "in place" yet. You can move a large group of pieces that are put together into their correct spot as one, instead of having to place each piece individually.
  
  
• Ikemen mode is AWESOME and is probably the biggest highlight of this game. Ikemen mode gives you one piece at a time and you have to connect each piece to other pieces you've already put down to form the entire puzzle. It's the only way to get the currency to unlock the other four locked puzzles. You are timed, and can form a chain as a bonus for as long as you don't make mistakes. By the end of it, you will get your points to use on the locked puzzles. It makes the puzzling feel a bit more fast paced and makes it more managable by focusing on one piece at a time.
  
  
• The artwork is pretty nice.
  
  
• It saves your progress automatically so you don't feel rushed to complete a puzzle in one sitting if you're having troubles or just think you need a break.
  

Cons

• After I started to play Ikemen Mode, I found the classic mode to be completely useless. As much as I like classic puzzling, giving you an alternative that's a lot more fun is a way to make the classic choice obsolete.
  
  
• It feels nearly impossible to pick up pieces in Classic Mode. I had to click on pieces so many times to pick them up that I actually thought my mouse was broken. It also seems that you can only pick up the pieces in layers - if I see a piece I want on the bottom of a stack of pieces, I'm not able to pick it up unless I pick up the pieces on top first and move them. I found that the holding down of the mouse to drag the pieces and having to click so aggressively really hurt my fingers after a while.
  
  
• The tray areas are not big enough. Even with a 60 piece puzzle in classic mode, it's hard to find the piece you want because they get stacked in such large piles and it's hard to seperate them. There's not a lot of room to move them in the tray and spread them apart just to see each piece. The other thing that annoys me is that pieces that are on the picture (but not placed) will automatically get placed back into the pile if you hit "shuffle". I think the shuffle function should have been used only for the pieces still in the tray.
  
  
• The clock feature felt sort of stressful. In Ikemen mode, I can understand why it's there since the amount of time left on the clock will award you with bonus currency when you finish the puzzle. The timing is extremely generous and I feel like it's probably impossible to run out of time. In classic mode, however, it's simply not necessary. It serves no purpose, as you are not awarded or punished based upon how much time you've spent on a puzzle.
  
  
[*] The last achievements requires you to do all puzzles. Not just one size of every puzzle... but all puzzles in ALL sizes. This requires doing each puzzle 6 times (60, 240 and 350 in classic, and then 60, 240 and 350 in Ikemen). This is an absolutely ridiculous time sink and is really unnecessary.

To be honest, I've played some Jingsaw games before and liked them WAY better. Its like some movies you see, you get GREAT special effects, great art and acting, but no real story. It was way better if you had more play in the game like unlocking stuff harder, and more.

So, you have +/- 16 puzzles to grab without any trouble, and 4 to unlock,,, you should have done it the opposide way, make people onlock stuff so they get their challenge brains on.

So then again, it's not worth more than 3 bucks to me, I bought it in a bundle. But the art is GREAT, just not the game itself for me. Though, the chaining part is fun, but not that challenging.

I wish there was a so-so or neutral button. Not my kind of puzzles but that is not a complaint. There are a few plusses and minuses to this puzzle game:

+ Art is fine and there are several challenge levels to each puzzle
+ You can connect pieces together even if they are not "in place" yet
+ Has and interesting game mode where you keep adding pieces from a starting piece. Different and fun

- No piece rotation
- Annoying constant "hints" that I could not find a way to shut off
- Horrible piece manipulation. I had to click on many pieces several times to pick them up and move them

The last achievement that requires you to do every puzzle at every size is not actually that unusual. It is just odd since all of the other achievements are so easy.

I have the MidC and DtL apps on my phone and tablet, now I can have a version of the games on my computer. The best thing about this is that I can redo the puzzles anytime I want.

A nice puzzle game for otome fans. I’m not familiar with the original games (which are for mobile), but I still enjoyed the jigsaws. The art is beautiful, and some BGMs were nice. It’s overpriced tho, considering that there are only 16 pictures in total.

6/10, I’d recommend to wait for a sale. Also, in order to get the last achievement, you need to complete all the jigsaws in all modes.
