Simple and enjoyable. Start off slow, gain gold and some troops, take over some settlements, continuously, build momentum, take over the continent. The graphics are simple, but the gameplay still shows the vision the developer had.
At times quite hard or tedious, when you are fighting more than 4 enemy knights at the same time, but that mostly only happens towards the mid-late game.
Would love to have some more probing AI tactics, where they do not only attack your front line.
There are events where there are random enemy spawns behind your front lines, but i found those more annoying that interesting.
Once you beat the game, you get a NewGame+ experience with all abilities unlocked, so you really can goof around and test all the game has to offer. It offers some limited replayability, but it is still the same map, so I doubt it will hold my interest for long.
All in all, I'd buy this again if I hadn't played it yet.
Reminds me of a very very very cheap version of Mound and blade.
Gameplay is mostly bashing buttons to protect your troops. Gamepad recommended, but i played mostly on the keyboard at the begining, and it works fine too.
You spend lots of time on the map sending your knights to fight left and right, and they get you some new land (or lose some).
For the endgame, expect a bit of lag as battles grow from 20-40 units at the start to 200-1k units in the end.
Quite fun, did 100% achievements in under 7hours and a half.

Very fun, for a very short while. Taking the first territory and recruiting your first knight are the only exciting moments in this game. After that it turns into repetitive hell. "Super Self" is the only combo that matters, which is actually just mindless button mashing. You could beat the game just by dispatching your knights to defend your lands - they are going to raid the neighbouring lands anyway and eventually conquer them; all the manual work you need to do is upgrading villages/castles and building trebuchets wherever you can. Hold F so everything is moving faster. The battles are boring and annoying, especially when capturing villages - even though you can steamroll the enemy, destroying the towers, gates and tents takes awfully long.
The game is also bugged - I wanted to get all the achievements just for the sake of it, but:
1) no matter which combo I tried, I could never get the 15 kills with one combo;
2) raided more than 10 convoys, but the game didn't register that...
3) it was already too late in game when I noticed the "defend the convoy" one... The enemy actually never even got the chance to attack any. When reduced to a single territory, the enemy just stands there and does nothing.
Hyper Knights is an absolute delight that feels like a one man army simulator! From the stunning, but basic, visuals to the engaging gameplay, this game has it all. The combat is fast-paced and satisfying, with a variety of unique abilities that keep battles exciting. I love how every knight has their own backstory, adding depth to the experience and making you really invested in the journey.
The quests are well-crafted and often come with unexpected twists that keep you on your toes. Plus, the multiplayer mode is a blast! Teaming up with friends for epic battles makes it even more enjoyable.
Overall, Hyper Knights offers a perfect blend of action, strategy, and storytelling. If you’re a fan of RPGs, you absolutely need to check this out! Highly recommended!
