This isometric indie stealth game is too frustrating to enjoy in my opinion. There is no quick save feature and the checkpoints are very far away. This means you will constantly replay the same sections over and over again because there are highly sensitive guards, cameras, and turrets everywhere. If you are detected even slightly, tons of guards immediately rush you and the level ends. There is also no difficulty setting. In fact, there are also no graphic settings and you cannot remap the controls. Another thing that makes this game frustrating is that the enemies are invisible until you get right up on them. You can only see their footsteps, which I found didn't make any sense and only added to the frustration. There is also some highly annoying flirtatious banter between the male and female protagonists that thankfully you can disable. Overall, this game was more frustrating than enjoyable to me so I uninstalled it and removed it from my account.
its a fun small indie stealth game, one of the best attempts a indie dev has made, way better than many competitors, would love a sequel fixing all the issues with the game. so the problem with the game is how the movement and unpolishdness of the levels feel. its a good game, just need mroe polish, if you want to develop stealth games or are a stealth conoisseur this is an interesting game to have a go at
it poorly tries to implement mechanics from mark of the ninja, without properly telling how alert enemies are, how visible you are, and having an indicator on how the enemies are seeing you. weirdly it has indicators for cameras and lasers, but not for npcs.
I also wish you could look further, its like you are as blind as everyone else, the Q button lets you use scan, but its not so useful because how much it depletes. Also the movement is too slow and crouched doesnt do much. play other stealth games instead
A stealth puzzle game, where you mostly just bypass one encounter, then the next encounter, and so on, like this one, really needs a quicksave system in order to be any fun. Sparse checkpoints get really annoying when you've figured out how to take two minutes to deal with seven guards, and it's only still interesting to work out a way to deal with the eighth.
Until that particular brand of frustration I can't stand, it seemed like this was actually going to be a pretty good game.
Since I could see some effort was put into the environments and mechaics I wanted to like the game but ultimately can't and will request a refund after posting this review.
The biggest issue with the game is the way it handles the visibility of your environment and enemies. If you closely look at the screenshots you'll notice that only the area the character can see is visible to you even though the game is isometric. So any adjacent room or corner is invisible unless you move so that it's in your eyesight. To counter this you can see enemy footsteps but if an enemy isn't moving there's no way to know the enemy is there unless you use a certain gadget in the third level. This gadget shows you where all the enemies are in the general area but is tied to an energy pool that regenerates slower than it depletes. As a result it's easy to run into enemies and cameras, half the challenge is working out where your enemies are before you can even think of working out their patrol patterns or the best way to sneak around them.
Most isometric stealth games at the very least give you full visibility of the room you're in, and that's for a good reason, any decent stealth game needs to give the player good visibility to make sneaking possible. If this issue was resolved or the gadget to see through walls could be used for significantly longer, Death Point may be a okay stealth action game, but this issue makes gameplay frustrating to the point it breaks stealth. If the lack of visibility doesn't sound like a problem to you, then you may find some enjoyment in it.
Otherwise there's not much unique about Death Point save for some of the most cringiest dialouge I've heard in a game, where our main character who's just escaped prison, has most of his lines consisting of hitting on his female support unit on the radio.
good game but suffers from some bugs and achievements that don't work
First level was fine, second level has a bug where if you die the game resets you at the "checkpoint" and then resets the enemy so that he's standing directly behind you with his gun drawn so you can't do anything. Other issues that in totality make this a pass for me:
- No rekeybinding.
- No video settings.
- The dialog is weak and peppered with a light misogyny that rings hollow.
- The dialog is timed for a first-timer, so if you run the level again (naturally, you'll be faster the second time around) the dialog plays one after another in a very unnatural fashion.
- You can take down the first guard but NOT pick up his gun
- You can pick up five bottles, but you can't use them as weapons (only as noise makers)
- You can't whistle
- If you've ever opened a locker in real life, you know why that's a horrible place from which to conduct a surpise attack
- All attacks are mortal; no knocking people out
- You can't spin the camera, which makes sneaking up on a guy very difficult
I changed my mind ;-)
After my initial review with a thumbs down, I wanted to add some cooments and change to thumbs up.
After some struggle and anger with this game initially, there's one interresting fact - I continued playing and in fact still do play that game. :-) I also appreciated, that the developpers are responsive and get stuff fixed.
While I got used the fact you can't reload checkpoints once you quit the game, it gave me lots of opinions to go through the same (rather long) levels more than 10 times..... I vote for a way to save and reload checkpoints.

Initial review:
I really hate this game - As much as a love it!
+ Great game play, challenging but you won't give up.
+ Good graphics
+ good sound
- A bit short, though the price is OK. I hope there will be some DLC's in the future.
- Not able to save inside a mission! Sometimes you'll play 10 times the same 15 minutes to get to the point you were failing.
- Known BUG: You can't continue a game in the "engineering level" - The game freezes... Theres no workaround except the continue from a all ready finished mission (from scratch)
I stopped playing and wait for the patch (and may be revise my review).
Cheers
Really great game so far! It's a really straight forward isometric stealth game. The AI is pretty simple, following a route while they "patrol". Using objects to distract them is hit or miss but seemed to work better as the game went on. You really do have to think through your moves with this game as charging through will get you killed really quick. Timing foot patrols and cameras to slip through at just the right time or know exactly when you're going to have to shoot someone/snap their neck and then hide the body before someone notices.
The controls can take a little bit to get use to but once you do you can move and interact quickly with the environment.
The dialogue gets kind of obnoxious after awhile but they included an option to turn it off completely and let you just focus on the game. I definitely recommend this.
Nice indie game with stealth elements and good graphics
Death Point is Stealth game with Action elements in a 3rd person isometric view.
You can find a bit over 26 minutes of gameplay with commentary here:

Don't let the poor Steam description through you off, if your after a game with light stealth mechanics then you might enjoy this.
You play as Mark - Agent 217. You goal is to progress through the stages with the help of an assistant by the name of Suko. She isn't much help, so you can just skip her dialogue if you wish as there are waypoints on the map for you to follow. The movement controls are WSAD, with right click to aim, left to shoot. TAB brings up a weapon wheel to change your equipped weapon, and Q allows you to scan the surroundings.
This is not a hard game, the AI isn't the greatest - as long as you do not appear in the front arc of their view then most of the time they will not spot you. In fact you can run up behind them without them noticing or walk at a 90 degree angle and kill them without being spotted. An option to improve the AI would help ramp up the difficulty for those looking for more of a challenge. I'm not a hardcore stealth fan, so I found the difficulty to my liking, taking into consideration the AI.
As you progress through the game you get a range of weapons. Firstly you can collect bottles, that are thrown to draw the guards attention either away from you or to an area where you want them to be. Your first weapon is a silenced pistol, but you can progress onto smoke grenades, a shotgun and a range of automatic weapons. Ammunition is limited, so you cannot simply Run and Gun your way through a stage, doing so will leave you unarmed and swamped in guards. You can take a few hits, or upgrade your health with a vest if you can find one, but the guards fire quickly as well, so avoiding detection is preferred with using silent kills. You are able to move guards bodies or hide in some of the environmental items to assist with this.
Scanning uses energy, which is a bar below your health in the top right of the screen. It replenishes at a reasonable rate, but not fast enough that you can constantly use it. Instead you will look for the footprints of moving guards, which are briefly highlighted on the map around your character. Most of the time I did not use the scanner, as the footprints show enemy movement well.
The Steam page states there is up to 12 hours of gameplay over 10 levels. It took me just under 2 hours to complete the first four. While the stages do get progressively longer and harder, I expect closer to 5 or 6 hours to complete the 10 levels. For this I feel the price is a bit high (I think $1 an hour is fair for indie games) at full price.
The weapon sounds are fine, but the music does loop and I turned it down to just background noise. I do appreciate the extra effort that went into voicing the dialogue. It would have been very easy for the developer to leave it as text, but that voice adds a nice touch. If you find yourself repeating a stage, you can left click to skip any dialogue so you don't have to listen to the same lines over and over. The dialogue itself can be very cliche, and some of it sounds like it was just read without any effort put into it (that first guard, sheesh) - but depending on where you go in a map you can hear different dialogue sections, so it adds variety.
I have enjoyed the game so far, but if your looking for a hardcore stealth game - then this isn't the one for you. However, if like me, you like simple stealth mechanics and don't mind that the AI can sometimes be a potato - then give Death Point a go. But do try and get it on a sale, as I do feel its RRP is a bit high.
