Super Amazeballs

It was a really fun game but now it's broken...

Unfortunately, the game seems to crash right after you leave the welcome screen.

For some reason, the game opens in "Steam Game Theatre" mode, which it normally never does....
Also the game does not show up in your game library in SteamVR Home!!

Idk what happened to this game, but right now it's unplayable.

I wanted to try this game again after not playing it for a while...

The game itself works again and gives this funny nostalgia feel for all of the 80/90 kids that were playing out their minds off in Hamsterball, Neverball, and couple of similar titles.
Steering is very fine, game itself works stable and doesn't stutter. The only annoyance might be a repetitive, less ambitious soundtrack, and most of sound effects in general, but that even enhances "that 90's feel".
Levels are nicely made, some are quite challenging and I am still writing this prior to passing entire title.

I'm not saying you have to give it a try, but it wouldn't hurt either.

Used to be a fun game, but now it's broken and the developer doesn't seem to care. What a shame, this would make an excellent native Quest game.

Broken beyond all playability. DO NOT BUY until devs fix (which doesn't seem likely).

This game used to be a fun little diversion, but somehow the devs managed to fundamentally break it in seemingly every way possible.

• Game no longer thinks it supports VR...If you're in SteamVR it isn't listed in your Library unless you turn off the 'Supports VR' filter...and even then the game will try to run in 'Desktop Game Theatre' mode. (But still won't successfully launch!) You have to 'sneak up on it' and launch it while SteamVR isn't running...
  
  
• The performance is ridiculous. I have an RTX 2080 and this runs at LESS THAN 1 FPS, unless I change the default 'HIGH' graphics to 'LOW'...and between this issue and the next one, that took literally ten minutes to do.
  
  
• For some reason, the VR playspace is now offset 90º from the HMD view on the horizontal plane, meaning that to navigate the menus in front of me, I had to hold the controller straight out to my LEFT. Unfortunately this also makes the game completely unplayable.
  
  
[*]The devs have gone completely silent ever since the update that screwed everything up, despite several threads from users complaining.

It's too bad, because this game used to be pretty good, and now it's just......nothing. It's not even BAD, it just simply doesn't work in even the slightest way. 😐

This game was great when it worked properly. The latest updates have made it impossible to play since the tracking in VR doesn't match what the game is doing. My controllers are 90 degrees to the left and moving forward or backwards moves the game area left and right. Moving right and left moves the game board forward and back.

I have contacted the developer and they are not willing to help.

I really wanted to like this, it seemed like a fun concept and I always enjoyed playing with these in real life- but the execution is... very poor.

Basically:
- You must start the game without SteamVR open; the library doesn't THINK it's a VR game, for whatever reason, and it crashes if you try running it with SteamVR already open.
- The controllers are WAY OFF from where your hands are physically, and you have to CONSTANTLY be turned around at an awkward angle with your arms stretched out just to be able to do ANYTHING. This was the worst part for me. It was not a SteamVR tracking bug as the controllers were accurate everywhere else except the game.
- The world moves around SUPER awkwardly with your headset, like moving forward physically makes everything go AWAY from you and moving backwards brings it TOWARDS you and it's disorienting as hell.
- The game defaults to "High" graphics settings, which on my render PC brought everything down to 30FPS. Even when setting it to low, I STILL reprojected constantly at 72FPS, never 90 nor 144.

If all that ever changes, I may come back to this game. But sadly- as it is right now I just can't recommend it to anyone.

Absolutly amazing eviroment and gameplay. Controls a quirky, but it's not too hard to get under control

You know, as low budget and simple as the trailer makes it seem, this game is actually super polished and a lot of fun. Physics and controls feel spot-on, which is crucial for a game like this, and I was surprised to see I had trouble putting it down. Can't wait to play more.

Amazing is, that this game gives me real sense of guilt...
After playing it for not even half and hour, the normal price suddenly seems more than fair to me and I had to write this review and give it my absolute approval in order to calm down that nasty feeling, that I took food off the mouth of some poor indie game developers child or something, considering the -33% sales price I got for this little gem.

I totally dig the sounddesign and the music and polished feeling of everything. The dancing vibe is strong in some of the tracks. Being able to resize and move the amazeball up and down is great for sitting as standing as for different room sizes. The game runs and feels great.

Everyone reading this and on the fence... there is really nothing you have to worry about.

Except maybe one tiny thing. I would have loved to have a way to drag the ball to the edge and maybe even a little outside of the play area. I got a sofa there and prefer to sit on that instead of a chair inside my play area, but I guess that is just me complaining on a very high level.

Else than that is seems perfect and you should totally consider buying if you have'nt yet.

Well made reflex game. You have to turn a maze so that the ball goes from start to end without falling of the track.

Positive:
+ good appearance, both graphics and sound
+ plenty of levels
+ two difficulties
+ force feedback effect when ball hits the walls a bit faster feels very realistic

Negative:
- sometimes frustrating and repetitive

Appearently it used to be 10€, but with the new price of 4€ it's a definite reccomendation.
It's a fun and original concept for a mechanic that is only possible in vr. It has a wide range of levels that go from easy and fun to extremely difficult and maybe even a bit infuriating (If you don't have patience!)

I also like the rating system, where it makes a distinction between playing the track normally and 'cheating' when flipping the ball past the intented route.

Dude, if you are going to pick up a cheap game that is amazing in vr...this super amazeballs for 1.69 on sale is it! I'm 8 or 9 puzzles in and the way they did this game almost makes me wish arcas path was like this. You grab the maze ball with your hands and spin it around, flip it upside down as the track flips itself upside down...everyone should own this game imo and for 1.69...i say why not?

Simple puzzle game done well. Relaxing and a nice break from dodging bullets. Also, it's more or less doable if that makes any sense. Some puzzle games just seem like a dead end after half an hour. This one lets you pick up at your point of failure which leaves some challenge while removing some frustration.

This game took me right back to my childhood of building elaborate constructions and rolling a marble down to see it bounce and twist and turn. Happy memories.

The game is good too - free update was a pleasant surprise.

Really good game, and I think well priced.
It's fun, satisfying, relaxing and seems pretty polished.
The sound of the marble rolling along and hitting the edges is spot on, and the feedback on the controllers is nicely done as well.
I don't think this game could be done well without VR, so it's a great use of the technology.

Easy recommend at sale price of $4.99. Fun gameplay. You have to move giant orb (Super Amazeball?) around with your hands and will the small ball to where you want it to go. Obviously, I wish there were more tracks. But the tracks are well crafted and I haven't even tried hardcore mode and definitely didn't get close to the top of leadboards on any of them. Wish I could listen to my own music, but the in-game music is decently good.

Rate 7/10 (at $9.99 normal price, would be 5/10)

This game is a great little puzzle game,
While it's currently easy to blast through the game each track is worth revisiting to try and execute flawless runs
And i haven't even tried hardcore mode.

I hope the developers will stick with the project and improve a lot. Games like these are perfect/made for VR and motion controls..

Maybe not worth $10, wait for a sale or only purchase if you don't care about $10.

I beat the game in under an hour, so play length doesn't really match up to the asking price in my opinion.

- Edit: Looks like the price has settled at a nice $4.99 .. in that case I have nothing but praise to give, and highly recommend picking this up.

However the experience and the gameplay is pretty solid and interesting. It feels a bit like Super Monkey Ball as you control the level. The way you control the level with the motion controllers is a really cool game mechanic and a unique way to apply the motion control scheme.

There are 20 levels in total, each escalating in difficulty. Some of them are really tricky and the way ball moves as you move the level feels realistic to the point where you have to pay very close attention to the minute details of the track. One wrong move and the ball can easily be sent flying. It can definitely be frustrating on the harder levels but for whatever reason you still want to get that damn ball to the end of the damn track!

Overall I'm giving it a thumbs up for the unique application of motion controls and overall gameplay execution but I would take it with the caveat that the game is extremely short. You may just want to wait for a sale to pick it up for around $4-$5.
