One of the greatest arcade Indie games I've ever played. Addicting gameplay fun card and level customizations. I highly recommend it. For 5 dollars you will have a GREAT time!!
Fun little casual game with cute graphics!
Perfect for a small round of something inbetween
A relaxing and simple laid back game. good to play to wind down a tough day. easy to collect cards. A great gem collecting game
A casual and simple clone of Mr Driller, harder than it seems, and funny to play solo or with friends
I want to say this is like Digdug infinite, but not really because you don't (normally) pop monsters to win, and there are no gravity rock traps.
Basically just dig down as long as you can collecting gems.
There are some cool card modifiers that can change gameplay dramatically, such as allowing you to drill monsters or lava, taking extra hits, or adding extra difficulty for point multipliers.
Overall the game was pretty fun in short bursts. The only real problem with it I have is that it apparently was originally a mobile port, and has a currency system based around microtransactions. The microtransactions are gone now, but the weird currency generation system and time limited cards are still around.
It has many in-game cosmetic skins, map tiles, and character effects to be purchased with the in game currency, which is also used to buy cards.
It's a colorful arcade game with rogue-ish feel (random cards to modify runs) about digging down below - the deeper the better (it's almost a separate genre now), easy to get 100% achievements. The experience depends on controller quality - i like xbox analogue stick, the keyboard feels worse, while laptop keyboard with low profile keys was barely suitable. Good distraction for a short break, but you also can go for crazy records, unfortunately there's no leaderboards functionality & only local coop.
Cute, fun little game and pretty affordable.
If you like games like PacMan, then you'll definitely like this <3
DIGBY EXTREME
Digby extreme is an awesome little digging game, it is VERY grindy, but a very fun grindy game. The game works very well with X box controller. I have now 100%ed all achievements and they were very easy to get, some achievements do take time with lots of gem grinding. Game is currently on sale, if its game you think you would enjoy, get it on sale 80%off at the moment ;D
Once I heard that the team partially responsible for PAC-MAN 256 also made Digby Extreme - it was an easy decision to toss a dollar in for this experience when it was on sale. Now I want it to be crystal clear that I hate a vast majority of mobile games, mobile game design, microtransactions, and really - anything associated with mobile game culture. And yes, I am sad to report that both of these reimaginations of classic games are horribly mobile in every aspect. Why do I upvote? Because the 3 Sprockets team is quite good at building core game mechanics and a gameplay loop that truly does bring these classic games into a contemporary setting. These new versions are not perfect by a long-shot nor will they ever replace their original iconic inspirations, but they are fun for a small asking price. Best played in short bursts; also fun in local couch multiplayer settings.
Essentially, you take a tried-and-true formula and build a satisfying upgrade grind around it. The whole thing has a strong one-more-round effect. The downside is that the grind is far too in-your-face, and so this doesn't fair well in long play sessions, at least for me. This angle also ended up sort of breaking PAC-MAN 256 in the long run, but hey - we had a good 7 hours of fun in the meantime. There really isn't too much else to say here.
Pros:
+Quite fun to try to beat your last run, which ultimately results in a strong one-more-run effect
+I like playing these small in scope retro-yet-modern scorechasers
+Local multiplayer is a nice addition and works well
+The price-point is fine enough (I grabbed it on sale, but even at full price - you could do worse)
Cons:
-The whole thing is a straight and shameless mobile port
-Sometimes we wished the controls were a tad more responsive
-I do think there is a great deal of potential wasted here; they could have taken the core mechanics and made a full-blown PC exclusive game with non-mobile artwork and more content, which would have commanded a worthy and much higher asking price
If you've played PAC-MAN 256, then you know what you are getting into here.
Really good and fun game. I's like unpredictable Bomberman on steroids. Very addictive and replayable. And the support team is really helpful.
This is not like DigDug, or any retro games I can recall. The developers did a solid job with Pac-Man 256, making an endless runner engaging with a fair progression system. Digby is unpolished and quickly ported to PC. Right from the start, the game asks "Press any button to start" but mouse buttons and Enter do not work. Yet, trying to apply cards in the menu can only be done with the mouse. All of the menu navigation is a mess, jumping between mouse-only and keyboard-supported navigation, none of it feels good or consistent.
The core game is an endless runner, with a lot of flaws. The character has no abilities by default, with incredibly slow digging speed and no attack options. All of the abilites are locked behind cards, which are time-limited buffs. Some buffs can backfire or counter each other out. The ability to drill through enemies is very literal, you MUST be moving into the enemy to kill them, except some enemies are immune and will just kill you. Yes, Microtransactions were removed, but the weird gems/coins currency exchange remains, and the base character is pitiful without card buffs.
Digby is just not a good game. It's boring and repetitive, with little reason to play besides progression. I've almost completed everything in a few hours, and I never really enjoyed it. Digby is not something I'd come back to play, but PacMan 256 was. Some reviews mention co-op being better, and I didn't have any interest to try it out. I'm sure there are much better co-op games out there. Don't bother here.
A dig dug/mr. driller roguelite. addictive AF. Great gameplay value for a budget title. Pounce!
Overall great "pickup when you have half an hour / beats TV" game. Both truly simple, and pretty game. I like how it rewards that you return to it after a few days. :)
Iam Really Enjoy playing this game, the control was really good , A lot of monster and i like that , but i have some issue a got stuck in the middle of game, i cant move but its not a problem, really recomended u should buy this game !!
Incredibly fun, it is structured like a F2P but with no microtransactions in sight, you just earn the currencies in game.
I paid $1 on sale but had I known how much I would love it I would have paid $5 easy. I did get it for a couple friends on that sale though!
With cards expiring, solo is a grindfest while co-op is kinda fun. This is why it's MUCH better with friends (thus earning the nomination). ONLY get this if ALL your friends enjoy the mobile "forever" version!
Great little arcade dig-'em-up with fun gameplay, cute music, bright and cheerful (and most importantly, easily read) graphics, and a decent amount of depth. Collision detection feels a bit iffy sometimes but it's not really a twitch game, more about learning the different enemies and situations and planning ahead. Heaps of customisation options to unlock, a simple little idle game to earn you coins when you're not playing, cards to add a twist to your runs, it all just feels very complete and satisfying, I notice the developers also made the similarly excellent Pac-Man 256, so I hope to see more arcade-style games from them in the future.
Very addictive gameplay! I like the carrot-on-a-stick way you open up new characters and other cosmetic content. Well done indeed!
What a surpisingly good gem this game is, especially for under $5! There are 2 main objectives: dig as deep as you can, and collect gems (with leaderboards for both). I like that I can play in short bursts (10 minutes-15 minutes), or really "dig in" and keep trying to improve my best depth and gems scores.
The game is great to play with friends as well. There are 4 local MP modes, for 2 - 4 players:
Co-op - Work together with your friends to dig deep & earn lots of gems
Gem Frenzy - compete against friends to earn the most gems
Race - race your friends to get as deep as possible
Party - compete aginst your friends in a variety of objectives
Ability cards add a fun and interesting twist to the game. They do things like increase your drill speed, double gem values, give you a headstart, etc. (I haven't unlocked all the cards yet, but it looks like there are a total of 63 unique cards.) You can claim 3 free cards every 30 minutes, but you can also "buy" cards with coins which are earned through collecting gems, completing missions, or from "digbots", which are unlocked at various levels. Digbots continue to earn coins for you even when you're not playing. Overall, very fun game which I recommend to anyone who enjoys 2D arcade style games.
I put in countless hours on Mr. Driller on the Dreamcast ... this game scratches a very similar itch. This is probably a mobile port, but the controller support is great and no in app purchases that I have seen. I can see myself revisiting this game often as a fun time waster. Good arcadey fun.
