It is also a place of secrets, of great danger and intrigue. For one man, trying to win his freedom to find that which is most precious to him once again, it is a place of destiny, both for himself, and for an Empire.

I am 32 years old.
My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old.
When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing.
Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side.
With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay.
After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like.
Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends.
Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together.
Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that.
Thank you.
RPG Maker strikes again!
Sons of Triskelion is one of hundreds of low effort retro-pixel RPG Maker asset/construction kit flips spamming the Steam catalog, made with the RPG Maker video game construction kit... in their own words, "Our easy to use tools are simple enough for a child." Like all RPG Maker "games", this is essentially a bunch of low quality/canned assets from RPG Maker coupled with a cringeworthy high school anime club fan fiction.
This is another painfully generic, minimum viable product cash grab/asset flip from Andorlea/Warfare/Falling Star Studio (why does this guy need three different Steam accounts to publish the same RPG Maker asset flips? Oh yeah, to mislead gamers). It as all the hallmarks of his other asset flips, terrible writing, spelling, grammar mistakes, lazily imbalanced fights (it's not hard to fill out RPG Maker templates, yet this guy still fails) and of course craptastic 30 minutes effort map "designs". It's a train wreck.
As with all RPG Maker games, the poor quality engine displays badly in fullscreen and doesn't have full HD support or any graphics tweaking options, making this unacceptable for any dedicated modern PC gamer. The point can be made that the intention of RPG Maker is to make demos and small games to pass around friends, and shouldn't be used for "professional" game development.
Like most RPG Maker shovelware and asset flips, the game features extremely low quality copy + pasted 2D retro pixel art, looks awful, and has even worse gameplay. RPG Maker is an absolutely terrible construction kit, and never results in games of any reasonable quality or value to gamers.
Reviewing SteamDB to check how popular this game was with players reveals a surprise... there's a very healthy spike in player counts for the game. But this only appears around the same time that trading cards were applied to the game... so this is just card idlers getting their cards and moving on. A closer look at the numbers shows the game just has a couple of players every week running up the game and idling it for cards, then deleting it. We must ask how it benefits gamers for there to be so many games like this, with no merit as a serious game, that only generate sales from people idling and selling the trading cards.
Sons of Triskelion has the gamer gouging price of around $4 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product. Gamers who want a good retro JRPG experience would be better off playing the originals, like Final Fantasy, Star Ocean or Chrono Trigger.
ends prematurely, very frustrating as it was just beginning to be interesting
that's an ancient RPG Maker example. Well made. Reccomended if your bored enough

Just another RPG game that you should probably avoid.

Just another RPG game that you should probably avoid.
"Sons of Tiskelion" is a short and simple, retro-style JRPG, made with an RPG Maker engine. It is about 6-8 hours long, depending on whether you opt to re-clear completed dungeons for experience and bigger post-dungeon monetary bonuses (I clocked in at just over 12 hours, clearing out every enemy I could in each dungeon, with a possible bit of time spent of idling).
"Sons of Triskelion" follows a 40 year-old pastoralist-turned-Gladiatorial-slave named Priscus Augustus. Having put his old life as a mercenary behind him over eleven years ago, Priscus's new life with his wife and young adolescent son is up-ended when a grudge from his past returns to clean up their loose ends. Priscus survives the encounter, only to wind up sold into slavery as a Gladiator. Not knowing what became of his family, Priscus was ready to give up in his second match, only to get a second wind when he hears the voice of his beloved wife urge him to stay alive and find them. From then on, he gains the will to fight back, using his past experiences to help him get through the Gladiator Games. Along with Batiatus, a young man who knows little outside of the world of the Gladiator's arena, Paajid, the young prince from a nation in the east who found his way to the arena, and Valeria, a young woman who seeks the excitement of a Gladiatrix to earn her Senator father's approval, Priscus must make his way through the 5 matches he needs to earn his freedom. But with more of Priscus's past catching up to him, including parts that he was only ever partially aware of, earning his freedom may become the least of his and his companion's worries.
Again, this a short game. The biggest point to it is its short story that is wrapped in a pretty easy to play game. Combat is the expected RPG Maker style of turn-based battles. Characters' skill growth is tied to medals earned with each victory and used to learn and upgrade skills. While prioritizing certain skills early on can help make the progression smoother, including Priscus's party stat buffers, Batiatus' Paralyzing Skill (which is a life saver both early-game and late-game), and Paajid's HP Drain, before too long, you should have more than enougn medals to learn and max out everything at Skill Level 7. This is especially true if you take the time to re-clear dungeons — a once per dungeon deal — which will net you increased medals, experience, and bonus Denari upon the dungeon's completion for each enemy slain. Doing this will also help you afford gearing your party, which is especially important for the penultimate dungeon; battles do not give out much Denari compared to what is earned as a bonus.
Two relatively small gripes I have with "Sons of Triskelion" are as follows:
* While the story is engaging, the world-building outside of cutscenes from story progression is limited. The Imperial City is pretty big, but "Sons of Triskelion" opts for apparent realism by only having very few interactable NPCs running about, with naught by two of the buildings having explorable interiors: one of them being a tavern with the most world-building via NPCs in the game but with dialogue that doesn't evolve with the game's progression, and the other being the pretty empty manse of the Senator's, with only a single daughter and a single maid to keep the Senator company. While lampshaded by one of the handful of NPCs in town who do say something when talked to, it does hamper the immersion of it all that the place is so functionally barren. It's a short game, so it's a missed opportunity to expound on some of the story elements through world-building via the city's NPCs.
* The game's only side-quest can't be completed, likely due to a bug. There are 15 Hero's Medals located on statues throughout the arena, the Imperial city, and a couple of the dungeons. Unfortunately, one of these statues, located in the Senator's manse, has no Hero Medal when interacted with. There's also a lack of a formal tally of the Medals. Because of this, you cannot reap the reward for collecting all 15 Hero Medals; I don't even know what it is, but it's likely to have been additional skills, if I had to guess. While it isn't hindersome to miss it, as far as I can tell, it is frustrating to come up one medal short of completing the game's only real side-quest.
Otherwise, however, I enjoyed my time spent on "Sons of Triskelion", which is why I am listing this as recommended. If you're looking to spend a bit of time with a short RPG Maker-engine game that's engaging enough in its rather personal story, then give it try. It even seems to lead into a sequel, though I am not sure of where that sequel's existence lies.
THE SCRIPTED EVENT IN THE FIRST BATTLE TO END THE BATTLE CAN ALSO KILL YOU. ES NO BUENO.
DARGONE ALL THESE NEGATIVE REVIEWS! I doubt anyone's ever going to find this but my word, this was drudgery. This game has a good concept and good story, but the combat just DRAGS. The first dungeon unless you realize there's a healing well in the middle of it WILL KICK YOUR ASS! I don't mean that lightly either. But when you get down to it the final act ends on a cliffhanger, and the entire third act of this game seems unpolished. When the Stygian (who I consider the final boss) shows up there is a treasury directly south of the room you fight him, unfortunately you get 0 warning whatsoever before you fight the guy, so unless I wanted to sit through another like 10 mins of cutscenes, I wasn't going to do that again. Just there was so much they could have made better in this that they didn't and I'm going to stop writing so I don't piss myself off.
The story is actually great. Kind of reminds me of a mix between Gladiator and Spartacus. I can't get over the fact you cannot buy items or armor with the money you make however. It's infuriating walking around with no gear despite farming mobs.
This game has absolutely nothing intersting. It is an standard RPG-Maker game without any highlights.
The only positive I can say about it is: a) some sets are good (can't say if they are from standard packs) and b) no bugs.
Still I can't recommend this.....there are so many other (better) games around.
So... you are a gladiator... Well, more like you are someone the army disliked when they came across and threw you into the ring... not that you care at the start. Since they obviously did very bad things to your wife and child, you have no real impulse to live.
At least until you get the feeling they still live... somewhere.
Mind you, that second fight is a pain. (Three bears against someone with... no weapon I can tell.)
Could be good...
i would rather lick a horse patoot than play this game...
I was loving this game. Until it suddenly was over. Right in the middle of a good story line, poof, done. The end. On a cliffhanger. And no sequel. If you don't want to be left hanging, don't get started!
