Spoids is a challenging throwback to the original brand of tower defense games. You'll travel from planet to planet using your powerful arsenal to hold back the Spoids long enough to complete your missions. With a constant stream of enemies that relentlessly push you to your limit, there is only one question: Will you stop the Spoids?
UNIQUE STORY MISSIONS

As the commander of the Remote Defense Space Station, you will respond to distress calls of those who are being attacked by the invading Spoids. New missions will add more perils to deal with in your fight against the Spoids.
UNLOCK MEDALS AT EACH PLANET

With the unique objective based system, Spoids offers the ability to progress through the game regardless if you are a tower defense pro or a newcomer to the scene. The more objectives you complete, the higher the medal you will obtain.
UNLIMITED WAVE MODE

After obtaining a Gold medal or higher, you will unlock the unlimited wave mode for that planet adding hours of replayability. See how long you can survive on each map and reach new highscores.
Additional Features:
- Multiple Spoids and weapon types to master: As new Spoids arrive that wreck new havoc on your defenses, new towers will unlock to help combat them.
- Fully Voice Acted: Each mission is completely voice acted by a set of memorable characters that you help to hold off the Spoid invasion.
- PC and Controller Support: Play the game comfortably with your mouse and keyboard or sit back and defend with an Xbox controller.
- Achievements and Trading Cards: A myriad of achievements to unlock and a Steam trading card set to collect.

I am in top 2% after getting the tutorial mission achievement in 18 minutes. I'll leave it at the peak.
There is some effort put into this game but there is just a lot more polished and interesting titles out there if you want to play a solid Tower Defense game.
I like castle defense games. I have to praise this game especially for the level design and enemy variety because they really did a great job. Also the music playing in the background goes great with the game. Beautiful visuals, varied gameplay and almost free, I recommend this game to everyone. It's really a great job.
Has a pretty good concept and premise to offer players. But it's a shame that this game seems balanced, did the developer not do the testing well?
The balancing is good for the first few levels but after that its really stingy and makes the game more annoying than challenging. Nearly a good game.
This is the first TD game I've played where you HAVE to place tons of towers. No tower upgrading, a tower is what it is. Unfortunately, it makes the game super hard and while I was able to do the first 4 levels, on the 5th level, I can only get bronze despite many many attempts.
The voice acting on some of the levels is super annoying - I finally just turned sound off because of that.
This game is dead - the forums are dead, hardly anyone ever played this which is a shame because I do think this could be good with a few tweaks. I'm struggling how to to rate it because I definitely won't finish it and in my book that says its just too hard (I have played probably 80% of all the TD games out there so this is not my first rodeo).
If you can get it on sale, go for it.
There are opportunities for improvement in this game.
The most important one is the user interface itself; choosing towers by mouse wheel is something I had never seen and hope to never see again. The targeting algorithm of the towers also needs work.
Fun old school rts but kind of disapointed by lack of traditional tower defense 'maps' aside from the campaign. pikc it up to enjoy for a few hours ( or a few more if you wanna grind the achievments )
Another "would have been" great Tower Defense game . . . completely destroyed by the absurd and unreasonable difficulty level set by the equally absurd and unreasonable Devs!
Do these guys even try their own games before releasing them??! Or are all these Devs super-humans or androids now? . . .There is seemingly no 'defenses' anymore for these terribly unbalanced and self-destructive TD games!!
So just use 'Me' friends, free of charge, as your last layer of defense here: You can safely save your time, money, and energy by skipping that one! . . . And you're welcome!! ;)
Tried to play it 3 times now and lost interest immediately. Game play is wonky and frustrating. Early levels are too difficult to be fun. Wasn't even worth the 49 cents I paid.
Overall a nice short tower defense games
My rating : 6/10 (Kingdom Rush being 11/10)
Pros:
-8 different tower types
-Cheap pirce
-Somewhat easy achievements depends how good you are at TD
Cons:
-No tower upgrades
-Combat is sometimes unbalanced like you have to watch out for carriers
It's just tower spam. No strategy needed. No upgrading features. Just spam towers and sit/wait.
This is actually a fun tower defense game. One downside, or plus depending on your point of view, each campaing mission has a set wave enemy generation and direction, so you can plan ahead if you play a mission over.
The music is repetative and so are the voice overs. Each enemy unit takes more damage each wave, so what once worked gets swarmed by increasingly useless damaging turrets.
You can designate what individual turrets do, such as target nearest to turret, closest to exit/entrance, weakest, strongest, fastest or slowest. Giving you a more custom targeting setup, since default behavior targeting is a bit awful.
If you strive for platinum on each mission, it can get intense.
Overally I think the game is challenging and addictive when you strive for perfection. (No enemies make it through)
Another TD to scratch the itch. Wish the dev would release more maps, or put up an online leaderboard (this keeps pros trying to perfect strategies).
Sadly I didn't know this game was released half a year ago, and I often looked at 'Tower Defense' genre in Steam. Maybe because this game wasn't popular, so Steam hid it from me >_<
Another wish is for keyboard shortcuts to build towers. Since there's no pause, if we're reacting to the aliens, it would be quicker to plonk towers down without having to scroll through the tower list.
Good TD 7/10.
Love tower defense games of various stripes but this one I just never liked. It's has a plot bolted on to a lackluster tower defense game. I can't put a finger on precisely where it went wrong, but whatever it was, I didn't have fun playing it.
Short and sweet title. I appreciate the effort put into the story, and the gameplay was pretty good.
I hope to see more from this developer.
Not really bad, but short and doesn't offer anything new on the the crowded TD market.
A decent base, but need more variations in gameplay. Can't recommend in its current state.
Compelted in 8 hours
Pros:
+ technically well done for a indie title, nothing stunning but doesn't look amateurish.
+ low price.
Cons:
- lack of contents, only 8 levels including tutorial, endless mode doesn't offer a lot.
- only half of the levels offer a real challenge.
- lack of diversity, you start with 3 towers on lvl 1 and only get one new tower per level.
- nothing new gameplay wise, only 8 towers with no upgrade, no special power, no mazing.
Really enjoyed the game. For 2 dollars, the level of polish and quality of this game is unbelievable. Anyone looking for a fun and challenging Tower Defense Game, this is a no brainer. Kudos to you, AirWave Games.
I could tell you what it is, but rather than that, I tell you what it's not:
- It's not any kind of Farming simulator and putting that in mind it hasn't even a single recognisable animal in the game. A real pity. Just Sad.
- Also, its not a Shooter and I can't annoy everyone with my brilliant taste of music. That's a big minus.
[*] And Last but not least it's not a shitty Tower defence. It has no unfair balance and no extra ordinary graphic, too. It does not collect my data against my will and sell it to someone and finally, I couldn't notice anything annoyable in it. A real shame.
A fun oldschool TD.
Above average presentation and an attractive minimalist yet colourful aesthetic combine to make a cheap TD game that is a cut above the rest in this price range.
I wish the towers could be upgraded but other than that I have no complaints.
Well worth it at this price point. (£1. 59)
Recommended.
Spoids is a fine tower defence game that only has eight levels but therefore is inexpensive and still a lot of fun to play. Although you can't upgrade towers this does not diminish the joy. The difficulty is very well balanced. You can gain medals for each level from bronze to platinum and while bronze is easy, platinum is really hard, especially in level 5 and 6.
Pros:
- nice graphics
- very good balance between towers and enemies
- runs smooth and without bugs
- well designed maps
- interesting voice acting, you can tell it's done by amateurs. While some do great, especially the lady in the credits, others sound like being forced to lecture aloud before class. But that's fun too.
- good music
- very cool credits
- endless mode
- full controller support
- it even has a story
Cons:
- missing leader-boards
