I got really into doing Picross puzzles from mobile apps, but I wanted to reduce my phone screen-time so I bought this on a whim to satisfy my puzzle cravings. It did not satisfy them. All this really does is make randomly generated Picross puzzles, which I initially thought would be great, but turns out they're it's not very fun. I appreciate the ability to really customize the theme and icons for the puzzles, but other than that the experience is meh. I wish there was a level system with increasingly difficult puzzles and a way to create custom puzzles. Also there's no zoom feature, so working on very large puzzles (where all the squares and numbers are very tiny) was more frustrating than it should've been.

A randomly generated Picross puzzle might seem like a good idea, but it's neither satisfying nor fun.

Positive:
+Contains the most intricate grid settings I have seen on any picross game.
+Lots of themes.

Negative:
-UI is quite small.
-The game has no validation for the input and you can crash the game by typing negative numbers.
-No progression, not really fun or satisfying, definitely not my cup of tea.

I played the game for a few hours, and would like to exchange my review with the following, better articulated review written by William Shatner (Steam edition) which overlaps with the experience I had:

-Highlighting is turned off by default for some reason but can luckily be turned on as you desperately need it for huge puzzles.
-Can't make puzzles for workshop (which would be a huge plus), but you can make themes for the workshop. Which is weird and a bit pointless.
-Uses up a lot of system resources.

=Price. It would be a positive if not for all the negatives and the fact there is a much better nonogram game that is completely free.

It's not a very good nonogram game and can be frustrating at times. There are much better nonogram games on steam.

It's an OK game, I'd give it a 6 out of 10 as in "decent enough and does what it claims to do". At the moment of writing I played less than an hour. I recommend it for people who simply like these kind of games and want a random session to waste some time with. I don't recommend it for people who want to experience some kind of progression and people who want the solutions to form a picture.

I played one normal 15x15 level, then cheesed the achievements with 2x2 grids. Got 16 of the 22 achievements in 30 minutes. The 15x15 grid didn't form a picture. As far as I can tell all game sessions are randomly generated, although I saw the dev comment somewhere that there are pictures.

Then I wanted to check out the massive 99x50 grid, needed for an achievement, but the resolution on my laptop screen was to low for it to fit in (M1 Mac Air). After changing the resolution, it took around a minute to load a game. At that large a scale, the game seemed to lag a little when placing points on the grid. It was playable but all the numbers were very small to read.

At such a large grid scale it would help if I could click on the numbers of a row or column to highlight it with. Highlighting can be enabled in the options but it only highlights where the cursor is pointing at.
Maybe a little screen showing the x,y coordinates where your cursor is pointing at would be helpful as well, so you don't need to count that much. Or at least some numbers at each fifth grid line.

I didn't see any possibility to save, which means I would need to sit through the mega grid in one session. Looking at the results of other people, it takes at least more than one and a half hours to complete the 99x50. Maybe I missed it somewhere but it seems like a crucial feature.

Normally, when I play a mediocre picross game I can still acknowledge that it is worth buying for diehard picross fans, even if the reason is just to have additional grids to complete.

InfiniPicross is not one of those games. There are no proper levels: it's just a generator of 'white noise' picross puzzles to solve. This could be neat, but many picross games I've played already offer this as a bonus feature, in addition to many having workshop support to provide a vast repository of additional puzzles. On top of that, InfinitiPicross isn't a well presented picross either. Sure, there's custom themes, but the game is overall clunky, between the game flickering back to the generate screen every time you click for another puzzle and needing to click a tiny button in the top corner to progress to the next puzzle, alongside the inability to zoom in in a game that will ask you to complete grids as big as 99x50.

I wouldn't recommend this at any price point above free. I'd have refunded it instead of slogging through the 99x50 grid for achievement completion if I was still in the two-week refund period.

It doesn't have option to mark tile as potential. UI is garbage.
Max puzzle size is tied to your screen resolution, probably because there is no scroll or zoom. No progress saving.
It's just poorly made.

Mildly fun at start but then gets weary. No need to re-install it again in the future because you forgot about your forgettable experience the last time. Just stop it!

Great game. it doesn't make any patterns, but you can get super big and irregularly sized picrosses. nice challenge.

Being able to customize the appearance of a Picross puzzle does not make up for the lack of fun of solving randomly-generated patterns. The UI is terrible, and you spend more time looking back-and-forth trying to figure out if you've flagged a square or not.

I used to like this game, but unfortunately they don't support my system anymore.

I had contact with the costumer support, who were very nice and friendly but they couldn't help me. If it runs for you i do recommend this game, it is fun, but otherwise it is useless.

Puzzles are completely random and there is no option to save or continue your current puzzle. So if your computer updates automatically overnight, say goodbye to your progress.

Can't even load the biggest size because it takes too much time to load. What's the point to have a success for something so difficult to achieve? Mostly when you just can't because of a game problem? (My PC can totally handle it, the game is just not answering).

Because of that particular frustrating point, I would not recommend it. Despite the fact that I love picross games and would play a lot just for the pleasure of solving them. But a game whose one success is like the 90*55 grid, nope.

Do you like the process of Picross? Do you get joy from the filling in of squares and marking off of blanks? Then this is for you!

If, for you, the point of Picross is the pictures, don't bother.

One of the main features of picross is that when you finish a puzzle you are rewarded with a pixelated image.

This "reward" somehow justifies the effort to complete the puzzle.

If the final image is randomly generated, a bunch of pixels not resembling anything, the experience is not very enjoyable.

I can't recommend this game.

EDIT: Okay, with over 200 hours on this game, I think it's a little hypocritical of me to keep my review negative. It's a fun and challenging game. Changing the dimensions of the grid means you have to change strategies. It's addictive. My rant below is still valid, but if you can overcome this issue there really isn't any other problems with the game.

ORIGINAL REVIEW: I am downvoting this game for one specific reason: there is no undo button. When you are looking at a 30x30 grid or bigger, it is easy to accidentally mark boxes in the wrong row or column. So let's say you marked about six or seven boxes in the wrong column, and then you realize your mistake. Which boxes did you just click? You don't want to unclick previously marked boxes because you did the logic for those twenty minutes ago! It's almost impossible to not ragequit when this happens.

Otherwise, this is a great logic game. I like the fact that the solution pattern doesn't make a picture. (However, I understand why purists are upset at a picross game with no "pic".) I wish it were more user friendly.

BTW, if someone were to create a sudoku game with 16x16 and 25x25 grids, I'd be all over that. BUT IT HAS TO HAVE AN UNDO BUTTON.

Got a few issues with this game, but it's both on my end and the games end.

One thing I like the most about this game is that the solutions don't lead to a pixel-art picture, like in Paint it Back or similar, which makes this good for those new to picross puzzles. Can also adjust the appearance to your liking.

However, this game has a few issues that mainly depend hardware, which in turn will effect achievement hunters.

For the 50x50 and 95x50 achievements, you need a resolution of, according to the dev, ~1600x900; which means a bigger monitor size is needed if it's not able to display at that resolution. A 1366x768 display will only allow a puzzle of maximum size 83x41 to be made.

While I do recommend this game, achievement hunters beware that you may be short of 1 or 2 achievements to 100% on your end.

The UI could use some rennovation too, seems rather basic.

Just completed a 99x62 puzzle, took me almost 7 hours. Great brain teaser and great value, no matter what the competition offers.

Could this game stand to be better coded and/or offer more features? Maybe, but for the price my opinion is that it works well enough and I can't complain. I'll be happily solving these puzzles for a good while at the very least, as they are a welcome change from the other puzzle games I keep playing.

Cheap, competent Picross that looks like a budget title, but it works fine! You can tweak the colors and shapes of the squares so you're filling in little stars if you want.

Now, these puzzles don't form pictures at the end of the puzzle, but in exchange you basically get an unlimited amount of decently tough puzzles. You set what kind of dimensions you want in your puzzle - 5x5, 5x10, whatever - and solve it. There are no difficulty sliders, just the size of the puzzle. Set your colors, pick your size, and go. The music is pleasant, and can be turned off when you've had enough.

Basically, you can probably get better picross for free or in phone apps, but I'd still honestly reccommend this one for the sheer amount of puzzles here, and for the little star icons. This is your pick when you've run out of puzzles in something like Paint it Back, or when you just want to try some variety.

tl;dr The puzzles work, I like the star icons, the price is right!

A Linux friendly nonogram game that offers an unlimited number of puzzles that can be a great deal larger than most nonogram games offer (up to 50x99). Lots of themeing options and you can tweak your own. Isn't completely graceful about multiple monitors (likes to launch in the middle and you have to drag it where you want it) and I'd like to be able to turn the timer off (at least it's unobtrusively tucked away up in the top menu bar).

Bought it right after it came out. A great time killer. Love that the puzzles are infinite, for real- can't get bored! I'm happy they added achievements. Also, the developer(s) have been wonderfully responsive to questions&comments on the forums for this game.

InfiniPicross is a fun little Nonogram/Picross game which randomly generates all its puzzles, to the user's size specifications. It's worth pointing out that there are NO curated puzzles on this one - it's literally all just random puzzles, but the game's solver ensures that all puzzles generated are solvable, and I've found them to be enjoyable to play through. There have been a couple of issues at launch which the developer's been extremely responsive about fixing, so I have no qualms about it from that angle!

The implementation is basic but very competent, and it's nice to be able to alter the game's "theme" to suit, as you can see from the screenshots. There's also an editor to alter the theme however you see fit. I'm unlikely to switch them around now that I've got one set up to my liking, but it's a clever feature.

If you're in the mood for a Nonogram/Picross game on your desktop which will never run out of fresh puzzles, I'd definitely recommend this one.
