Ok, so you're not in the drivers seat, but it is still fun. You get a 3D perspective of what you would see if you were playing the game on a monitor. Still it gives a level of immersion that is very welcoming. Some people don't like the fact of taking a "flat"
game and making it VR without first person perspective, but after playing games on a tv or monitor for most of my life this is refreshing. It's no game of the year, but throw it on and have a little cart fun for not that much money. If you like cart racers, it's worth it.
seriously for me personally i love this game, i just like the fact that it is a Kart Racer game similar to other kart racer games i have played like mod nation racers, Mario Kart and Beach Buggy Racing but it is in VR and i swear playing this game in VR compared, say to just playing it on a normal screen montior is truly a better experience in my opinion if Mario Kart and the other Kart racing games i mentioned could also be in VR and i could purchase them here on STEAM i would buy them in a heart beat
Control are clunky. Even the f1 car feel clunky. Soundtrack is meh. No actual playable characters. The challenge is while unforgiving. also a joke. The game also played w/o the use of VR Heatsets. and getting game's star can be dickish. no post game reward (is a farce). The races are (Mostly) 2-lap races with one 3-lap race. My verdic is on this game. try with caution. don't recommand to all hardcore (but few) gamers or Pro Mario Kart Gamers, EVER! Unless you kill your cat with couriousity. My Score: 65 of 100
Update: It has been 5 (Soon 6) Years since the release of Kart Chaser: The Boost.
I recently tried it and have mixed feelings about it. As a casual kart racer, it has potential, but it falls short in some aspects.
First of all, the fact that it is a bootleg version of the popular game Kart Rider is a downside for me. While I understand that it was made by small Korean developers, I would have preferred a more original concept. However, I appreciate the effort put into the game by Lee Jeong Min and Kim Sung Kyum.
The gameplay is what you would expect from a kart racer – boost, drift, and use items to win races. The boost and drift mechanics work well, but I found the boost to be a bit weak during my play session. This may be due to programming, but it could also be improved upon.
There are two game modes – Item Rush and Time Trial. Item Rush is a standard race with AI opponents and power-ups. The use of items is similar to Mario Kart and even Kart Rider, with some being more effective than others. I liked the feature of having different tiers for items, making them more powerful. The Power Tackle move adds some strategy to the game, but it can be hard to execute properly.
The track roster is limited, with only 13 maps available, which can get repetitive after a while. The kart selection is also limited, with only 13 to choose from and only one driver option. This is a letdown, as diversity in drivers and karts could have added more depth to the game.
The controls of the karts are similar to Kart Rider, but they feel a bit clunky. However, I wouldn't say they are terrible, just not as smooth as I would have liked. The graphics and soundtrack are decent, but not outstanding compared to other kart racers.
One interesting feature of Kart Chaser is its optional VR support. I did not use this feature, but it's a nice addition for those who do have VR headsets.
Overall, Kart Chaser: The Boost is a decent casual kart racer, but it doesn't stand out in a market filled with similar games. The limited tracks and karts, along with the lack of diverse drivers, is a major drawback. However, for its price point and the fact that it was made by a small team, it's worth giving it a try.
For those who have a windows mixed reality; this game runs perfectly on it. I used a lenovo explorer and an xbox one controller to play. it runs with no problems on my gtx 1060 (6GB).
Gameplay wise its a 10/10 for me. its basically a knock off mario kart but with a little VR touch to it. I definitely recommend it for the price (I bought it on sale for like $5, but would still pay full price for it)
This game is cheap and easy to learn. It plays like Mario Kart. The grinding for better cars isn't bad. I highly recommend if you're looking for a cart racing game.
Just doesn't feel right. It's VR but it's 3rd person. On the time trials, I easily won each race with absolutely no difficulty (even with a non-upgraded car). The tracks look different, but they almost all play the same. You don't really ever need to brake for any reason, just keep boosting as often as possible. On the Item Rush races, it just felt like random luck on whether you got a good item or not or whether one was used against you. No real strategy here, just plain luck. I could easily get ahead, but if an item was used againt me, I'd be back to last place.
I just didn't have much fun, most of the races I did were boring. I'm glad there's unlockables and it felt nice to get a new kart. But that just made the races even easier. I got this on sale for $6.99 and I can't recommend it for a VR experience given the 3rd person view. So without VR, it's just a below average kart racter. It's not Mario Kart snd it's not Sonic All-stars either. It's just a poor version of those with 3rd person VR. There's no multi-player either. The single player is just unlocking cars and unlocking tracks. But with little motivation to do either because of the above problems.
Rate 4.5/10 at least the price is right for the content, but I still can't recommend ... needs some more work to be good, and it's almost there but not quite
I really enjoy taking a few laps in Kart Chaser each weekend as a warm up for deeper VR.
And this is such a great experience I look foward to more in the future, so I'm taking my time unlocking all the cars and features.
If you love 3rd person racing and VR, this is where its at.

OUTLAW here, Im first place in most of the time trial races. This game is pretty fun. Reminds me of Mario Kart a lot. I can't wait till we can compete with other players online. Worth the price, spent a lot of hours playing this.
The only Negative I can think of is there isn't Multiplayer. Everything else is fine.
I don't suffer from motion sickness in games where I get to stand up and move around. But when I am forced to sit down and cannot properly respond to movement around me, then it can happen that I start feeling bad. Racing games are a typical case in point, and often I cannot drive more than a few laps around a race course before I need to take a break.
But this racer doesn't make me feel sick at all - very nicely done!!
And, yes: This really is Mario Kart in VR!! Hoping for multiplayer!!
I liked this game, but I can't recomend it in it's current state. This really feels like it should have been early access as there is potential here and a good base for a great game, that I would have easily paid twice as much for. But far too much right now feels left out and unpolished to recomend this as a complete game.
The Good
Driving feels solid, with cars having a nice solid yet zippy feel to them. You have the option of side bashing other cars at any time, and it never gets old side checking a car trying to pass you. The choice to do the vr with an overhead view instead of a cockpit view I can say was a wise decision. Tracks all feel a bit different and most of them were a joy to go through with some of the later ones providing a nice challenge. I never ran into any issues with performance although I'd be kinda worried if I had given my specs.
The Bad
Item mode is a total wreck, with powerups feeling indistinct, hard to wield, and unbalanced. Half of the powerups basically amount to a forward facing ability that that auto homes in on racers in some way stuns or slows your oponent, and have no way of being guarded against aside from a shield that lasts a few seconds and shatters immediatly upon first provocation. Certain weapons like the upgraded turtle shot have no issues backfiring and taking you out along side your opponent, and aside from manually turning your head around, you have to blindly fire road hazards. Expect to lose a number of races from getting surprised shot with 5 attacks at the last seond.
Progress effectivly amounts to grinding rather than actually getting better with track unlocks and basic car unlocks tied to a license and money system that can easily be broken by just spamming a stage in time mode, which unlike item mode you will always win by a mile as long as you drive decently. While most other car unlocks are tied to repeatedly using weapons you mainly get when doing less than good. Half the cars amount to little more than recolors with changed stats, and there's no changing or customising your car or driver outside of a car selection.
Certain tracks also have issues containing jumps without turbo pads, that I (And an AI driver) found ourselves in a position of being stuck in a loop of not having enough speed after getting attacked to make a jump only to be respawned right before the jump with no way of building speed before the jump.
And while it's not a huge deal to me, this is a kart racer with no multiplayer, and while the vr looks good, it doesn't add anything to the game, unlike say VR Kart with it's look to aim system. The choice to make this a vr only seems to be crippling it's outreach potential which if it does get multiplayer, may become a big deal.
Recomendations:
-More fire and forget weapons that require precise aiming
-More ways to defend against attacks (Many kart racers for example lets you use projectiles and hazards defensivly)
-Easier way to look backwards
-Tie more of the upgrades to a cup mode or something similar rather than a simple grind to win scenario.
-More than two modes in general, Perhaps a true time trial that doesn't have you racing opponenets?
-Online Multiplayer would be nice.
-This game doesn't really need vr like most vr titles, it might make sense to have a non-vr version

This is the single best game I've played in vr so far, and I've played the brookhaven experiment, arizona sunshine, and several other vr titles that don't even come close, this game is very very similer to mario kart and I consider that a bonus considering that there is no way nintendo would ever make mario kart in vr. This game is easily worth twice the price, and I got it on sale for 6$, practically a steal. There are some issues worth mentioning:
1. I can't change my character to a boy, not sure if thats just me being a moron or if thats actually not an in game option
2. Since it is a karting game, I think having more gameplay modes or an online mode would add a lot to the gameplay
3. Since the game does not have a roster of characters like mario kart, a system where you can upgrade the cars and personalize them would add a lot more to the overall personal feel to the game
Other than this, I absolutely love this game, I'd give it an 8.7/10
P.O.S. I can't get any controllers to work with it. Have an XBox gamepad, keyboard and mouse, Vive controllers, nothing works. Instructions please? Some kind of Settings menu?

Very fun game, very similar to Mario Kart. For this price, this game is excellent!. Having the ability to unlock cars and tracks makes you want to keep playing. My only request would be to add a multiplayer mode at some point.
This games is a no brainer for the price. When i tried the first 2 tracks i thought ok its not bad but after u open other tracks and buy new car wow wow wow what a good cheap game credit to the developers but multiplayer would make this game even better
This is a super early review but I know how much that can matter in the success or failure of games on Steam, VR games especially and it'd be a shame to see this game go no-where due to lack of reviewers. In short if you're after Mario Kart on Vive then for the price I'm certainly not arguing, nausea might hit you a bit hard to start with but if you can handle Cars and other more 'intense' experiances then it shouldn't be a problem. Not seen a huge amount of the content yet but what I have looks nice and well made. It's cheap and it's karting in vr, on that basis I'd say it's on to a winner. Will update in case my experiance changes dramatically from more play time.
