Classic, one of my favorite games before the internet was invented. Using the patch on the guide page allowed to change screen size and automatically changed the controls to normal keyboard WASD and allows you to set control bindings to your own liking. The music included with the patch isn't the full sound track but at least its most of it. Odd the full sound track wasn't included in the purchase download.
Eventhough this is an older game. I still enjoy it very much. It works on the same engine as Duke Nukem. Enjoyable firstperson shooting game.
Better than the first game (you get to kill aliens, drive motorcycles and swamp boats), one of the best games on the Build Engine. Game looked great for its time. Time is not accurate, I played this in the RedNukem source port.
Overall, this does improve on the original game, but brings back of the poor level design that I hated in the first game that got fixed in Route 66. On a positive note, I think the difficulty did get nailed here. I had a lot of fun trying to balance which weapons were best for the situation and getting prepared for the next trap I would wonder in. The motorcycle kind of grew on me by the end, even if the boat didn't. The boat probably could have, but the levels based around it are built like mazes with the worst possible ability of figuring out where you are since everything looks the same. El Paso is the standout level honestly and just reminded me that this could have been better. Waco was a bizarre inclusion that I did get some joy out of seeing.
I would probably recommend this game to people curious about Build Engine/boomer shooters still. It does have some cool stuff and I don't think it was a waste of time, it just fall shorts of the greats.

Funny fun. Some tough puzzles and mazes to figure out but that maybe good. ;-)
Ignore my time played, have got way more in the source port I'll bring up in a bit.
Don't let this game's predecessor's reputation warp your opinion of it or keep you away from it, as it's much, much better. You get more ammo for your most useful weapons, the new weapons are quite useful (especially the rake), and the level design is far less confusing and over-sized. Plus it's one of the earliest FPS games to incorporate vehicles, which is both cool on its own and it's got a motorcycle with a machine-gun attached to it, which is also rad.
I recommend using RedneckGDX as a source port for Rides Again, as it fixes the key problem, that being them blending in with the environment and doors not being marked, by coloring them and telling you which key a door will need. It's optional, but it's an objective improvement that using RedneckGDX helps with, and with that inherent flaw present from the first game in this series being eradicated I can safely say this becomes one of the Build Engine's most worthwhile games. Give it a fair shot. You might not like some of the levels and guns, but it's worth it overall for the great humor, atmosphere, environmental design, music, and more powerful weapons, which are satisfyingly punchy and creative.
First of all, I am about 50/50 on recommending this game, so I'll give it the benefit of the doubt. Nevertheless, while Redneck Rampage Rides Again improves on the original in many ways, it is very much flawed and at many times a chore. The best of this game is what it changes from the original, and the worst is what it does not. Still, If you want to play Redneck Rampage, this is the one.
PROS:
- Much better level design than the original, but there are still some confusing sections
- Some of the best visuals for the build engine (at least back in the day)
- Great soundtrack
- Does not drag as much as the original
CONS:
- Enemies are still pretty terrible
- Weapons remain useless and the hit-detection is way off
- Terrible port, install Rednukem if you play this game
- Tons of glitches

The controls are a bit clunky, and the original soundtrack is not here, but for the price and the nostalgia (for some, not myself), it may just be worth the money, especially since I bought it when it was on sale.

The level design is slightly better than the prequel, but otherwise it's mostly same.
The original soundtrack is not provided. How can you play Redneck Rampage without the original music the original game came with? That, and the controls are hard, because they're not mapped to normal shooter keyboard layout. You have to press the ALT key to strafe, like with some games that came out at this time.
I actually already have this game stashed away somewhere, and from what I recall you can remap the keys. That, and the CD has all of the songs licensed by Xatrix. Oh well.
Did I mention there's no cuss pack with this thing?

You will be better off buying the GoG version of the game instead, as the steam version doesn't contain the music soundtrack. Also with the GoG version you get three games; Redneck rampage, Redneck suckin on grits on route 66, and Redneck rides again; it doesn't have Redneck huntin. The GoG version is also better value for money; for an extra 80 pence you will get the other two games as well, instead of £6.99 for just one game on steam. Unfortunately with Redneck rides again a settings option hasn't been provide, when you first load up the game; you have to mess around with the dosbox keymapper; I had a look at the file dictionary and couldn't find the configuration file to change the controls.
What I liked about the game
- Large open levels, which are fun to shoot through. You will be fighing in the swamps, riding your motorbike on the race tracks and kicking ass in Elvises home.
- Many hidden secrets throughout the levels, which are hidden quite cleverly.
- This time round you can drive vehicles; like a chopper and a swamp boat, and it's not like theres only one level where you can drive a vehicle, driveable vehicles appear in quite a few levels.
- Not as many pain in the arse dogs and alien vixens.
- New enemies and more enemy varietys.
- The protaganist has been given new lines.
- Still the same awesome game play.
- Some pretty cool film references.
What I disliked or was disappointed with
- I wish they could of added more new weapons. I liked the sling blade, but I wasn't that keen on the chicken dynamite.
- Shame they couldn't have done a redux version of the game, with steam achievements.
- You have to do a lot of messing around with the dosbox keymapper, if you want to customize the controls to your liking. Unfortunately, when you launch the game you can't select the settings like you could in redneck rampage, which means you can't customize the controls like you could in the previous game; you have to mess around with Dosbox keymapper.
- Wasn't keen on the final boss, it was just reused.
- Would have been nice to have some new inventory items.
- Still missing the music.
[*] During the game you get to revist some locations, which to be honest I would of prefered not to. I like to be in a new location in every level.
Conclusion
I enjoyed the game. I thought the idea of adding vehicles was brilliant; it kept the game fresh. The level design this time round wasn't as good as the first game; but still pretty good. Don't buy this version, buy the gog version instead, because it has the soundtrack and it also comes with all three games, including suckin on grits which isn't available on steam.
