The Devs talked about it on discord so i gave it a try. So far it is very epic.
Felt awful to play. Ball has no traction due to the low gravity and the objectives where frustrating and vague. From the trailer I thought the objectives would lead to a kinetic play style, though if that is even possible with how the ball controls I will now never know as I will not touch this game again.
The core gameplay loop is very addictive. I love going fast, smashing into things, and using bullet time to either correct my trajectory or to make for cool impact visuals as I travel at breakneck speeds.
Once you get a feel for how strong the launch kick is you start to not need the bullet time feature for normal jumps anymore, making you able to clear some levels with a target time of 1 minute in about 15 seconds in a glorious sequence of well angled jumps. You may find that after only a couple of hours of playtime you begin to perfect your movement, being able to move faster and with more power than before, and without making an accidental and fatal plunge off the edge. The feeling you get from it is true enjoyment and pride in your skill and results.
While some levels are less fun and in my opinion work against the appeal of this game (looking at you, tombstone level), most levels are quite vast and allow you to quickly launch yourself across the vaporcore themed A E S T H E T I Cs.
(Not to mention the killer soundtrack!)
While the game lacks polish and proper level design in some cases, this game has great potential and I hope that the developers will consider making another installment in the future and trying to perfect the gameplay.
BALLISTIC is a terribly ugly creature, and I love it to death. I think it could evolve into something truly extraordinary.
I don't know what this is trying to be but it isn't good.
Very poor controls, and boring. This is a waste because it looked really cool.
Thought maybe everyone in the comments was just casul, but this is stupidly hard. Will definitely be playing this for a long time
Very addicting, probably one of the hardest games ive ever played (meatboy is nothing compared to this), but is very rewarding. Amazingly beutiful , simplistic art style which I love. Excellent neon futuristic soundtrack
Super addictive, come in planning to play for a few hours and wind up sinking hours into it.
But my god it can be tough sometimes. The first level alone will forge you in its fires.
The soundtrack is excellent too.
Ballistic.
Holy shit.
Let me start by saying that this game is no joke. The devs weren't kidding in the trailer when they said the game has a "vicious skill curve." This game is HARD.
If you're the kind of gamer that loves a challenge, pick this game up, you wont regret it.
This is the kind of platformer that takes both skill and precision to play, and the game isn't going to hold your hand AT ALL.
Besides a bare-bones keybind guide, you're given little to no instruction on how to actually play. You just have to start playing and learn the hard way; Through trial-and-error. You have to learn how to wall-jump with megadrive. How to abuse slo-mo to bash drones and to aim jumps. How to get a giant speed boost by ramming yourself into the floor several times in quick succession.
Prepare for a master-class in platforming. Prepare to miss jumps and scream "FUUUUUHHHHHCCCCCKKK" at the top of your lungs. Prepare to restart that level for the 100th time to get that ONE jump JUST right. I've been playing for 6 hours and only made it to level 6... Out of 33 levels.
It's what Super Meat Boy would be like if it were made in 3D.
But you know what? I keep coming back. There's something weirdly addictive about it. I'm DETERMINED to beat this game.
What seems at first like an overly simple game mechanic - getting boost charges by colliding with things - turns out to be a surprisingly satisfying way to navigate.
Once you get comfortable, you'll find yourself banging your shiny metal body into surfaces in time with the beat and careening around recklessly, ricocheting from wall to floor to ceiling and making giant leaps of faith.
The levels are very cleverly designed. Each level adds some new wrinkle to the experience.
And when you finally DO beat a level you've been working on, woooo boy that feels nice!
On top of it all, the game has BEAUTIFUL art. I constantly find myself enjoying the lighting and effects. It's got a crazy retro-neon vaporwave vibe that is very pleasing to look at. It also has a long soundtrack full of relaxing tracks to help calm you down when you get blasted off of a platform by a laser for the umpteenth time.
I'm hooked! Give it a shot!
