Spooky’s has been recreated in the Unity engine, featuring HD graphics, 3D models, and some new twists and turns along the way. Now with full controller support, Steam trading cards and backgrounds, new specimens, the ability to toggle between the old and new specimen visuals, and Oculus Rift and Vive support. This new version of Spooky’s will also have Endless Mode and all DLC bundled together. This new game will also have a “Build Your Own Mansion” feature integrating with Steam Workshop. There will be both tools in the game to edit rooms and a development SDK that allows players to create new specimen, mechanics, and whatever they desire and share them on the Workshop!
WHY THIS IS A NEW GAME:
As you might know the original Spooky's Jump Scare Mansion was written in GameMaker 8 - which only has the most rudimentary of 3D support. In order to add features like 3D specimens, VR, Mac & Linux ports, and to fix a lot of the nagging issues (like getting stuck on corners) and other much-requested features it has to be rewritten from the ground up! We're taking this opportunity to add all that and more in Unity - which is a modern fully featured natively 3D engine that is a lot easier to work with for this kind of game than old GameMaker.

if you are some sort of balls-of-steel hardened horror game enthusiast who doesnt flinch at anything your probably going to find this one a bit dry.
however, for most people dont let the tongue & cheek presentation mislead you, you will shit your pants as you get deep into this.
Its a real masterclass on what actually makes a horror game scary, it masterfully creates atmosphere and tension, not needing to rely on gruesome imagery.
if youre like me, and tend to avoid horror games despite an appreciation for them, because of the right jumpscare or bombardment of the right imagery tends to linger in your consciousness long long after exposure showing up in dark corners for weeks after exposure... Or maybe your just quite sensitive and are looking for something safer to try your hand at the horror genre. You are going to enjoy this.

-A surprisingly charming horror game with just the right balance of cute and creepy. The scares might make you jump, but they keep you engaged and wanting to push further. Fun and eerie in all the right ways!
Try the free version before this, I found it to be just a boring and not scary horror game about opening doors and being followed around by 3 monsters, and now I can't refund it.

I have grown up with this series as I was introduced to the first game by watching Markiplier when I was 9 when I first saw that they made a HD remaster of the game on steam I was hesitant to buy it at first since I already knew all that the game and its DLC's had to offer but despite that the game continues to scare me.
I recommend this game if you enjoy jump scares though it is a bit of a walking simulator and that may be boring to some so take that in mind, but I cant recommend this game enough.
I don't want to sound like a broken record, reviewing a game in a loop. But this one truly delivers to get a two consecutive review combos just by the way it is made, quite deserve more attention from any noobs or veterans of horror gamer fans.
As my previous review already said about the same game, well it's the same, yet more excellent!
And of course there are things right here, that you won't find it in the free version. I like all the new features it presented for any horror fans to enjoy. As well as the included DLCs and overhaul visual graphics!
But what is my most favorite from this one?

Now you can unleash your darkest creativities or simply made a hilariously family friendly environments of a generic haunted house, or an eerie dimensional multiverse of absolute macabre Lovecraftian-ish vibe (...or just put your name as the creator, which makes you a god for the realm you created. So devilishly cool!) with that particular mode, and share it with the community! Go crazily creative to make everything and impress us horror fans!

A lil' spoopy game. It is worth the money in my opinion (This is cheap by the way). The specimens are pretty cool with most of their traits and the little secrets are nice. So what are you waiting for? Get this game right now!

been playing this game since 2016/2017, i have no problems with this hd version, but i'm just really disappointed there has never been a option to bring back the original 2d sprites, i don't mind the new 3d models, they look really good but for me personally it's a downgrade.

This game never gets old. The gameplay is simple but that's ok. It doesn't have to be some crazy survival horror game with difficult puzzles and intricate combat. The art style and character designs alone carry it.
Good game with no jump scares and is good for children under the age of 10. Play while under the influence for optimal results.
I got impregnated by a ghost, bitch slapped by rebbecca black and then gave the girl from the ring a two for combo meal when she vorred me, so overall a fun time

Absolutely amazing cutsey horror game that almost acts as a celebration of the horror genre itself. While the gameplay is nothing that will stick with you, the fun spooks and ride itself definitely will. 8/10

One of the best horror game by far, it might be lite and kinda meh at the beginning but that's actually the way the game builds itself up for the player, makes the player believe that it's just a silly horror game with carton paper jumpscares, and then terrorize the player with the mansion's frights and teaches them to run for their life no matter the specimen...
Cute yet very scary :( , but cool game
Honestly, my favorite part of the game was the specimens. They're all similar but creative in their own ways. My personal favorite one is probably Specimen 4, her design and chase theme work so well with the theme of the game (in my opinion).

Cute and funny horror game. Has a unique atmosphere. Manages to be "scary" at times without being overly grotesque or violent. I managed to complete the story in just under 5 hours and I got the bad ending, then I redid chapter 3 and got the good ending in about an hour. Spooky's story isn't too complex but she doesn't need it to be a charming and interesting character. I would recommend this game for a player who is new to horror games and looking to get their feet wet without having to commit to a long and disturbing game.

I remember playing the OG version of the game 5 years ago when I was 10 years old and I got traumatised by specimen 4 and noped out. I recently went back to the game and finally completed it (except for the DLCs).

WARNING : THE 'SECOND' PART OF THE GAME (THE ONE YOU BUY) IS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THAN THE INITIAL DEMO, TO THE POINT OF BEING INCREDIBLY MISLEADING WHAT YOU'RE ACTUALLY BUYING; CONSIDERING THE FIRST PART OF THE GAME IS PAST THE 2 HOUR TIME LIMIT!!
while the first part was a charming game, i expected a LOT more from the types of reviews this game has; only to be met with one of the most boring walking through door simulators with 'scary' monsters walking behind you most of the time.. i put emphasis on 'walking through door simulator'; because you are gunna be doing legit nothing but walking through doors with nothing happening for more than 5 minutes.. the wood cutouts were scarier than the monsters chasing you, which not gunna lie; i was impressed how they seem to pop up the moment my guard was down (which raised my expectations higher than i thought)
when i got to the Cheshire cat, my hopes rose again; only for them to be dropped further down that it was initially, because literally nothing came out of it other than it prepping you for more monsters to pop up later on.
if you expect more of the same game after level 1000, you will be sorely disappointed with some bland, 'eerie' puzzle game that made me close it almost immediately with how disappointed i was thinking i was getting more of the game i bought instead of whatever the heck this is

This is a really good horror game actually. although it says jump scare in the name, there is almost none in the entire game and it has some really good plot twists like the fact that it is not actually a joke but pretends to be at first with it's almost family friendly look it gives at the start but almost right as you hit door 50 is when it turns into a legit horror game.
