walking simulator: the game

the game standalone is alright, but such a downgrade comparing to the original:

- the "improved" visuals made the game lose a lot of charm
- 3D specimen models are less scary
- taking damage no longer puts a scratch mark on your screen
- swinging the axe is much slower and not as fun
- specimen 1 has a quick animation instead of popping up instantly, which takes a lot from their jumpscare factor
- specimen 6's death animation has a minor detail where he stops the needle right before your eye, very small but it harms the experience nontheless
- the deers have much slower, less surprising animations
- they removed the detail in specimen 8's room, in original, when you played the jukebox and turned around, you could see a shadow for a split second

overally, play the original, it's free

every aspect of this game is boring but at least its unique compared to most horror games

Love this game, it can get a bit repetitive with the limited number of different rooms however I find it fun to try and get a new best time or any achievements, and if the normal game loop gets too boring there are 2 other game modes which are more like a traditional horror game. Its fun, its goofy, and I like it so 8/10

if you are some sort of balls-of-steel hardened horror game enthusiast who doesnt flinch at anything your probably going to find this one a bit dry.

however, for most people dont let the tongue & cheek presentation mislead you, you will shit your pants as you get deep into this.
Its a real masterclass on what actually makes a horror game scary, it masterfully creates atmosphere and tension, not needing to rely on gruesome imagery.

if youre like me, and tend to avoid horror games despite an appreciation for them, because of the right jumpscare or bombardment of the right imagery tends to linger in your consciousness long long after exposure showing up in dark corners for weeks after exposure... Or maybe your just quite sensitive and are looking for something safer to try your hand at the horror genre. You are going to enjoy this.

Try the free version before this, I found it to be just a boring and not scary horror game about opening doors and being followed around by 3 monsters, and now I can't refund it.

I have grown up with this series as I was introduced to the first game by watching Markiplier when I was 9 when I first saw that they made a HD remaster of the game on steam I was hesitant to buy it at first since I already knew all that the game and its DLC's had to offer but despite that the game continues to scare me.

I recommend this game if you enjoy jump scares though it is a bit of a walking simulator and that may be boring to some so take that in mind, but I cant recommend this game enough.

I don't want to sound like a broken record, reviewing a game in a loop. But this one truly delivers to get a two consecutive review combos just by the way it is made, quite deserve more attention from any noobs or veterans of horror gamer fans.

As my previous review already said about the same game, well it's the same, yet more excellent!
And of course there are things right here, that you won't find it in the free version. I like all the new features it presented for any horror fans to enjoy. As well as the included DLCs and overhaul visual graphics!

been playing this game since 2016/2017, i have no problems with this hd version, but i'm just really disappointed there has never been a option to bring back the original 2d sprites, i don't mind the new 3d models, they look really good but for me personally it's a downgrade.
