I'll give it a 5/10. It wasn't terrible, it wasn't great, the story was lackluster and the acting kinda sucked. Design-wise I think it really did well. The hint button made it so that you could never be stuck for too long and all the mini-games were skippable after trying for some time. The flower turning puzzle was the worst offender for the mini-games.
Overall, I think for a team of like 8 people, they did an alright job. I got this for around a dollar on sale and I'm not disappointed.
This is quite a short hidden object game. It's not the best one on steam but it's not the worst either.
It has a few good points - music is nice, graphics are pretty, relaxing to play, puzzles aren't too difficult but not super easy either, simple to learn how to play, the game lets you know when there is still something to find in a certain area which was helpful, unmissable achievements.
But it also has a few downsides - spelling and grammar are not very good, the voice acting isn't very good either (at least it's a minor part), stiff cut-scenes (but they were short).
I still rather enjoyed it. But would recommend getting on sale considering the length of the game.
Overall a decent game experience but it lacked enough puzzles and HO scenes that I would expect with a hidden object game. I really enjoyed the voice acting and was disappointed by how sparse those character interactions were.
Yes, I recommend this game!
The story followed a logical flow, and the problem-solving & items you have to find all fit in very nicely. The HOPs were clear. I didn't have to stop & solve unrelated puzzles & mini games.
I would like to see more like this.
The map shows you where you are & where you have open activities. You can fast-jump or walk to locations.
A lot of picking up inventory items and using them on other objects. Only around 5 hidden object scenes and I think only 1 puzzle (and it's broken, you have to skip it lol). Badly translated. Voice acting is pretty embarassing.
First time playthrough: 1 hour 38 minutes
4/10
A good adventure for a night. A mystery, a pair of twins, split personalities, a maniac on the loose and innocent past lives. You are curious to find out more, be careful. Curiosity kills the cat.
PROS:
- Beautiful scenes;
- Repetitive, but nice music;
- Obtainable achievements;
- Nice voice-overs;
- Trading cards.
CONS:
- Story needs some extra something to be understandable and sympathetic;
- Sometimes there are grammatical errors in dialogues and item clicking;
- No Bonus Chapter.
All in all, a good game for a night.
I've play a LOT of HOG's, and I know most of them don't really have a great story, but this one was really bad. Really bad. No story whatsoever... It feels extremely rushed, no effort was put in the story imo.
It also has a LOT of spelling mistakes which really bothered me during the game.
The artwork is okay though.
But no, not a fan of this one...
This is an average HOG with some annoying bits. For example, some of the hidden items were labeled with non-American names. I can't say if they were appropriate for UK English, though I think I'd usually get those. For example, I know what a spanner is. One of the HOG puzzles in this game said "Blade," so of course I looked for a knife. But it was actually a spatula?!! In another instance, a fishing lure is called a "Troll." I can see "trolling lure" but not "troll." Otherwise, the game is OK but there's a lot of running back and forth. And the story is rather weak. I still recommend it if it's on sale.
I like the older European developers adventure/hog games. I have played so many that I forget which was which.
I assumed that this was one I had played but surprisingly this was not the case !
I played on windows 7 64bit so my experience may be different to others.
I enjoyed the game; the graphics were good and the story was ok .
Before I play any game , as all of us do, I always fix up the options to my preference.
I couldn't adjust the sound at ALL ; the slider controls wouldn't move!
I hated the music. I hated it so much I had to turn it off... So I had to play with no sounds at all and it rather spoilt the experience. Oh and the fact that every time I tried to use the map, the game would crash.
Really too bad, but I WAS fore warned , plus the game was in a very inexpensive bundle.
I still recommend it ( when your screen goes blank and you re-load the game, it will at least put you back where you had been.. so it's not too bad)
Proceed with caution!
I found myself asking myself if I should recommend this game or not but after all this is a cute little hidden object game! If you are searching for a relaxing easy way to spend max 3 hours of your time, this game is for you. The artwork is well done in detail and I like that there is a variation of different places.
What cause myself to almost not recommend it was the lack of challenges.
The puzzles were very very easy, the story was simple, and some characters' voices were (I think) made by a computer? I don't think there were real persons behind them.
I bought this game for a very reduced price, so I would only recommend it if you buy it on sale.
A poor hidden object puzzle adventure (HOPA) by any definition. Poor translation to English sometimes hindering understanding (a plate is not a record). Lackluster story basically presented in the opening intro that flashed too fast to read the badly-written articles. It was not really better told afterwards. About a half-dozen easy hidden-object scenes that can be completed in less than a minute each, maybe two. Very few self-contained puzzles including an early one with flowers so annoying I decided to skip it. Too many doors and containers to unlock. Good items that could be useful later were usually discarded after one use (but that's a common flaw of the genre). Artificial barriers to progression were present when something easier could have been done. For example, putting the toys on the floor instead of a toy box you have to fix first or using a similar item instead of the only once accepted.
The map doesn't show you which rooms have something to do right now, but which ones that have something left to do at some point sometime, maybe much later, which means a lot of backtracking. The moving lips on characters reminded me of old comedy skits on Conan O'Brien. The graphics weren't that bad, especially those of animals, but the action all took place in and around an old decrepit mansion. The music was usually good, but lacked variety. The game was also short, and I would evaluate it at between 2 to 3 hours depending on how much time you waste on that flower puzzle. So basically, if you feel the need to play that type of game, you can do so much better. If you're still interested, don't pay more than a buck or two for it.
Bad voice acting.
Bad translations.
Illogical item placements.
No diary/log.
Map shows places where you can do things, except you can't, yet.
At least the achievements work which are all non-missable.
1.5 hours to complete.
3/10
P.S.
You need a latch. No, not that one. No, not that one either. This one? Nope.
Only get on a super sale, I'm talking 80% off or more, and only if you want the achievements the achievements. The game itself isn't worth it. I'm so glad I got it at 80% off for myself. I came in giving it the benefit of the doubt, it failed.
Where do I begin... I've played many hidden object/puzzle games, so I can confidently say this is pretty bad. It must have been translated, and I say this because the translation is so bad I'm not even 100% sure what the story was in the game. It feels really rough to play. It's like they shoved as many "useful items" as possible in every area, it's way oversaturated. Everything is really spread out, it makes backtracking in other games seem like a joke. This wouldn't be a problem because the map shows you where you can do more things. Oh, wait, the map doesn't work. The map is dysfunctional showing you 7 or so other locations saying there’s stuff to do there when there’s simply not. So you'll find yourself using the hint button to just give you general direction to the correct room. Usually I'm really good at knowing what does things in each room. However in this game 80~90% of all the times you get seem to be keys and handles that don't go to any clear thing so you run around and try to use them on all the things that need a key or a handle. Not to mention because they have you doing dozens of things at the same time with many recurring items it feels like you have no real direction, just trying to progress. There was also only a single puzzle... that puzzle glitched so the last piece wasn't registering as correct so I had to exit the puzzle, go back in and do it again.
Pros:
+Easy progression achievements
+Cute little copy the colors thing? (it's not a puzzle so I don't know what to call it)
+felt short (not usually a pro, but anything more would have been even more chaotic to play through)
Cons:
-very glitchy/buggy
-a mess to play through
-horrible translation making the story impossible to follow
I seesawed on this one but finally decided to give it a thumbs up because I just might play it again so it's a keeper for me.
Pros:
o relatively easy (I played in CASUAL difficulty; the other I believe is EXPERT)
o stationary inventory (not one of those pop-up kind)
o graphics and special effects were decent (I especially liked the rain)
o interactive map (I am terrible at remembering where items need to go)
o directional hint (sometimes... or sometimes it just goes to the map if there was nothing to do in the current area; switching to different areas in the map would usually give me a directional hint)
o can finish in a single sitting (i.e. short)
o Steam trading cards
o achievements are earned by playing the game so if you finish the game, you get all the achievements (don't have to play it multiple times to get all the achievements which seems to be a standard with Artifex Mundi games)
Cons:
o voices were just okay
o story was confusing although I didn't have a problem with the translations
o hidden object scenes are not interactive (especially if this is new everywhere and not just on Steam)
o interactive map showed current AND FUTURE activities which can be confusing
o user is removed once game is completed (that seemed a little weird to me although you really couldn't do anything else in the game... it would just be nice to see how many times you played it maybe)
So if you're looking for an Artifex Mundi-type game, this is not it. But if you want a relaxing game with 100% achievements possible, this just might be the game for you!
A very short and outdated hidden objects games, but it isn't very bad, I kind of enjoyed playing it although it required lots of backtracking. The story is basic, a detective looking for a missing journalist who's been investigating the missing and murders been happening in Wisbey mansion. I liked the music because it kept changing and not looping. You'll also get used to the graphics because it wasn't all bad, especially inside of the mansion.

Puzzles varied from easy to extremely hard like this one which took me a while to solve it, and I've seen other people complaining about it too.

Pros:
+OK soundtracks.
+OK graphics.
+Fast travel map.
+Steam achievements.
Cons:
-Short game.
-No journal
-Obvious story.
-Bad voice over.
What I didn't like is the characters design and the rushed story as well as the voice overs. I suggest you buy it with a discount or a bundle.

Short game,
HOS very simple, no mini-games,
English translations could have been better checked, nothing unique or special about graphic style.
I did laugh when I saw the photo of one of the dead characters as I'm pretty sure that was the actor who plays Longmire in the netflix series, not sure who the actor was that was his wife in the photos. Guessing all the photo faces in newspaper prints were some kind of stock photos or something.
Nothing that notable or special about this one but if it's included in a bundle or super sale price and you like HOG games it will pass the time for some aimless hog fun.
No real mystery here as you already know from the start who the killer is and what is going on so not sure why it's called a mystery.
Lots of jumping around from one area to another but you have a travel map and I was glad of that. happy gaming ~
only choices are yes or no but I'll add my maybe choice as to recommendation.
Overall Rating 4/10 (and I am being generous there...)
Pros:[b]
[b]Cons:
- WAY too easy, no challenge whatsoever.
- HORRIBLE translations from Russian (?) to English, in text and voice dialogues. Terrible grammar. and hearing obvious Eastern European/Russian voice actors with heavy accents mispronounce common English words, BADLY mispronounce them... HORRID. Cringeworthiness at its best. [*]Awful story. No real cohesion, it jumps from one stretch of the imagination to the next with no real logic or reasoning behind each jump. It was shallower than Mark Ruffalo or Paris Hilton. Yeah. That shallow.
If you want a really, REALLY short game with really, REALLY easy achievements... get it at a really, REALLY deep discount.
If you want a HOPA/HOG that has some depth and challenge, don't get it.
This very well may be the worst hidden object game I've ever played. Aside from the fact that absolutely none of the items are in logical places (I realize that's pretty much a trope in the genre, but it's so outrageous in this game it's comical), the writing is downright atrocious. Whoever translated this shit must've shoved it through Google Translate because half the time I had to re-read through the documents 2-3 times just to suss out what the hell is being said. That's not to mention the GOD AWFUL voice acting; and I'm pretty sure it's the same guy doing all of the voices...including the chick's voice, which was hilarious beyond belief. I don't even know how the game has so many positive reviews. Are people really scoring this based on the fact that there are easy achievements? This just reinforces my opinion that achievements do not make a HOG, and I will take an amazing Big Fish game with no achieves over drudge like this any day of the week.
At first, it seemed like it was a decent game. I was even willing to get past the terrible voice acting (which sounds like it's all done by one person), and the first few grammatical errors. But the translation just kept getting worse and worse, to the point where it wasn't clear what it was trying to say.
After the first few scenes, the game also became mind-numbingly easy - you find one item, remember where that item goes to unlock something else, find another item inside that unlocked thing, repeat. There are maybe 3 or 4 hidden object scenes, but no other puzzles to speak of.
As far as the story, I couldn't follow it - both because of the terrible translation, and because it just wasn't clear what was going on. There's also no journal function like most games of the genre have, so I couldn't go back to review what had happened in the story.
The music was also pretty at first, but got so repetitive I had to turn it off for my sanity. The graphics are nothing special. There are just no redeeming qualities to this game.
Don't bother with this game - it's just bad. Refund request submitted.
That was a lot shorter than I thought it'd be, but it was good. I enjoyed it. Hidden Object games have always been some of my favorite PC games to ever play, from the disgustingly easy to the unbelievably difficult.
This game was somewhere in between the two.
As annoying as it is to have to keep going back and forth between scenes, I didn't mind it so much. I played on Casual and I found the game tough at times, so I can't even imagine how frustrated I'd get should I play the Expert level.
Honestly, though, my biggest gripes with this game are 1) spelling errors, and 2) the voice-over acting. Both equally inconsequential in the long run, but still irritating nonetheless. There's only one type of spelling error, and that's for "lose" and "loser." But judging by the voiceovers, I'm going to assume that English is possibly a second(?) language for the developers. Any other person wouldn't be so held up on a tiny, nonexistent issue, but coming from someone who loves the written word, my brain can't let things like that go.
As for the voiceover acting, I just think the two male characters in this game sounded a bit monotone, hardly any inflection in the words, and I think it could've been done better.
All in all, I really enjoyed this game and I recommend it to others who like HOG but don't want to spend more than an hour playing through one.
This is so far the most logical hidden object game I've played. I guess that's why it is also fairly short (no artificial lengthening by making you perform actions that make no sense). It took me about 2 hours. I don't mind the short length as this was more fun to play, because there was no need for using the hint button all the time. There is a map that shows available actions and lets you move quickly between places, so going back and forth is no problem. The only problem with item names in hidden object scenes I noticed was "leave", which got me stumped, but the hint revealed that it was "leaf" (should have realized that, but English is my second language). That's not nearly as serious as some I've seen in other games. The story is pretty typical for this type of games and not too bad. I paid 5.11€ for the game (bought the bundle and already had the other game) and it's worth that in my opinion.
