Gameplay
Players take control of a Rounder and utilize long ranged attacks alongside melee assaults to defeat their opponent. Shields and the all-important dash can be used in defense, with barrage attacks and the almighty B.O.S.S. attack on hand to rain destruction down on the battle field.
Story
In 1486 S.D., a future where mankind has fled to the stars following The Great Disaster, an incident which left Earth uninhabitable, new galaxy-spanning governments have replaced Earth's old political regimes, but the old power struggles are still present. A terrorist attack involving a banned weapon, stolen from one of the ruling federations, shakes the balance of power and leaves openings for new factions to rise. But who was behind the attack, and do the newer factions hold noble intents...?
Learn the secrets of this new age through the Duo Story Mode, a refined retelling of Senko no Ronde DUO's story in full HD.

the most GOATed fighting game. i regret nothing. ive still yet to get the extra fighter DLC but overall i'd say this game is very worth the time and money if you enjoy BOTH fighting games and shmups, or like one and want to dip your toes in the other. the tutorial makes the game easy to learn, though msstering a character will take varying amounts of effort depending on who you pick (i will be making a guide on that soon). story may not make sense at times but i think that's what makes things fun about it. though i won't get to it due to spoilers, i found it mostly enjoyable save for maybe one or two awkward parts, but it was great! there's even a recap of the first game so that people who pick this one up don't get too lost. soundtrack is amazing, especially the new themes added for some characters. the graphics handle well, and you SHOULD be fine with minimal frame drops on a medium end PC build. however, please note that online play may not work on occasions, and though the netcode is "playable" now, there's still an odd chance that it will crash mid match or at the start of confirming the rom session. maybe try the Remote Play Together feature and hope for the best, but aside from netplay being a hassle for some, pretty much everything about this game is amazing. Too many characters. Too much story. Confusing controls. It looked like something I would have liked but I guess I was wrong.
I have never heard of this game or series before. After playing it all this time I have to ask: how can this only have 35 "Mostly Positive" reviews? This is absolutely fantastic! A true hidden gem that is a blast to play. I didn't expect this at all.
Seriously, If you love shooters and Mecha; like Gundam, Macross, Virtual-On, etc then this game was MADE for you.
In fact, I would say this is the spiritual successor to Oratorio Tangram. It's literally an evolution of that but in 2D.
Combat is fast spaced, and there a bunch of different characters. Each character has an alternate version of him/herself with different parameters or different attacks. You can also pick an operator (sort of like a wingman) and they come with different abilities. And then there is Boss Mode, one of the most original things I've seen in a fighting game. There a lot of rooms for different tactics and strategies.
I loved the story mode because it reminded me of the anime series mentioned above. Took me quite a bit to complete, about 15 hours but I did replay some scenarios and some of the fights with different difficulties.
As for the negatives, online is deader than dead and there's a lack of modes; but Arcade mode has 4 difficulty levels including a very hard and Story mode has 8 (yep!) selectable difficulties in total during the fight scenes so that will keep you busy. Even though the learning curve is tough at the beginning you will soon realize the game is quite simple and the characters are balanced enough so don't expect a SFIII: Third Strike here. It's all about finding the perfect opportunity to blast your opponent in the face.

An unique take to fighting game. It plays like a 2D shooter, and you can be the boss (and your opponent can too).
You choose your character/Rounder (battle mech or whatever) and a support character for support actions.
Arcade mode has a disjointed story but there is a story mode with apparently more sketch-y character design (which was based on the original Senko no Ronde Duo not released outside Japan) but switch back to a more modern character design as used in arcade and character profile during fights.
Sugoi Action game.

Very cool arena style fighter with a shoot 'em style to it. It kind of plays like a Virtual On/ Gundam Versus but on a single screen. Obviously tons of differences due to the difference in perspective but some elements carry over.
Regardless a very fun action/ fighting hybrid that more people should check out!
The original Senko no Ronde (or WarTech) was a fantastic game in which 2 players launched showers of bullets, lasers and missiles at each other, but despite its frantic appearance, it was a very smart game that rewarded planning, adjustment and resource management way more than you would suspect, looking at it in a glance. Senko no Ronde 2 is not different in that aspect, but it improves the controls, adds more characters and loadout customisation and a better balanced experience. Can't be missed for fans of competitive arcade 1 vs 1 type action and worth a look for fans of both shoot 'em ups and fighting games.

The original Senko no Ronde on Xbox 360 was a game I played so much back then. It was a hard game to master, but even though I wasn't too good at it. I still had a bunch of fun with it. To see that the sequel got ported over to Steam is super fantastic. Think of Senko no Ronde as two games mixed as one. The combat style is a mix of Virtual On meets Zone of the Enders. You basically have to defend yourself against the incoming amounts of bullets and lasers at all times. You also have swords as attacks and that instantly reminded me of how Jehuty attacked in Zone of the Enders, but the camera is faced in a different perspective. The main portion of the combat is a game that's simple to learn but hard to master. Once you really get the combat mechanics down, you'll be blasting away like a pro. Plus, The anime inspired art work and colorful cast of anime trope characters really make the presentation stand out.
The second portion, BOSS mode is similar to Bullet Hell defense games like Ikaruga and R-Type. You have to either destroy the enemy or defend yourself as BOSS mode is powerful but the window of time to use it to your advantage is limited. So make good use of it. Though it is over powered sometimes, I believe BOSS mode makes the game fair and it really helps players comeback if they're struggling to gain an advantage.
Overall, Senko no Ronde 2 is a fun shooter that adds a lot of flair. If you were a fan of the Xbox 360 game, you'll feel right at home with this one.
Don't let numeral in the title fool you, this is more or less a slightly rebalanced version of SnR DUO with just a pinch of new content, so don't go in expecting an all new experience if you were lucky enough to get your hands on DUO. But since this is the first time the game is available in English on an international marketplace, a fully localized version of DUO is still great to have, even all these years later.
G.rev are often seen as carriers of the Taito torch, and while Senko no Ronde is probably their most aggressively experimental IP, it bears a bit of resemblance to Taito's Psychic Force, a short-lived series of fighting games featuring flying characters and projectile-heavy combat. Senko no Ronde is often explained as a kind of "versus shmup" but it could also be seen as an amped up version of Psychic Force, where flying characters flood the screen with projectiles while trying to close the distance and get inside for some melee damage. There's maybe a little bit of a resemblance to a 2D Virtual On or Boombots as well.
It's a more robust release than the last one we got stateside, Wartech on Xbox 360, with a lengthy story mode that is fully translated (with Japanese voices). I hear it's missing a couple features from earlier DUO releases, but nothing that stands out as conspicuously missing to me. The price is a little steep and don't expect a lot of online competition if you don't have dedicated friends to play with, but it's a good two player couch game with a friend, and it's great to finally get another G.rev gem on Steam.
Fantastic game but the net code needs a lot of work. You can't narrow matches by region or connection quality or even see ping, and lag results in not only input delay but also severe slowdown throughout the match which makes it an over-all fairly unenjoyable experience. If I'd bought this for full price this would be a deal breaker but at 50% off I think the single player content makes it worth your money.
A nice little gem from Japan, combining both Fighting and Shoot ‘Em Up, is a good experience that no fan of the Shoot ‘Em Up genera. Also giving you the chance to play the story of Senko no Ronde DUO
A solid sequel to Wartech/Senko no Ronde. Great if you like shmups and fighting games,
Story mode is painfully dumb, and annoying in places
but everything else is good and gameplay is really fun.
Senko no Ronde 2 is an obscure port of a Japanese arcade game released in 2010. The title was later ported to the Xbox 360 and the prequel was released in America as WarTech: Senko no Ronde. Gameplay wise, this is a mix of both a bullet hell shmup (shoot 'em up) and a fighting game. Think of it as a mix between Psychic Force and Virtual On. If you're a fan of anime, mecha, the shmup genre and the fighting game genre, you'll enjoy this game.
The characters are fully voiced in Japanese and each have a backstory. Design-wise, they're not too original, but their personalities are made apparent during the game. Each mecha (known as "Rounders") come equipped with a main weapon, a subweapon, a special ability (depending on the partner/variation you select), shield/force field, several dash attacks and the ability to transform into a B.O.S.S.! The B.O.S.S. mode is pretty cool and sounds exactly as the mode implies. You basically turn into a giant mechanized version of your regular Rounder for a limited period of time to unleash a barrage of bullets on the enemy. This is a great tactic, especially during the endgame, since it is a somewhat of a last-ditch comeback mechanic.
I haven't tried online mode yet, but from what I hear, it's quite laggy and not optimized well at all. I hope the developers / G.Rev fixes this.
In summary, if you are a fan of Japanese arcade games, you'll probably like this title.
Let's hope G.Rev releases more Steam titles like this one, in the near future!
Beside Acceleration of Suguri, this is another one of the rare gem from Japan. A mix between shoot-em-up and fighting game that I would call a 'Danmaku (Bullet Hell) Fighting Game'.
It is not too hard to pick up, but as the bots showed me, it is not easy to master the arts of dodging countless bullets and counterattacking at the same time either. No tutorials on specific character specials and moves, but the basic tutorial covers enough.
Speaking of characters, at first glance, they seemed generic and the mechas are not quite memorable. This game, however, comes with a detailed story mode which provides us glances into each characters personality and their lives with full professional voice acting. It also presents an excellent opportunity to familiarise yourself with all the mechs this game has to offer, while the story is no Pulitzer Award winner, it is okay in its own rights.
I have not tried multiplayer yet though, though the part of making this review in the first place is to get people to buy it and have someone to play with lol.
Music and sound, your mileage may vary here. Some may find it good, excellent and memorable; But some may find it generic. I am on the former stance though.
Rough around the edges, but lovable game in this age of AAA blockbuster releases one after another, an A grade game done with care and soul poured in it is a very lovely option right now.
Awesome game. One part shoot-em-up, one part fighting game, Senko No Ronde 2 provides intense action and mind games as you and your opponent swarm eachother with bullets. I highly recommend this game if you are familiar with both game types.
I am running this game on a computer with specs below the minimum, however it is working just fine for me (YOUR RESULTS MAY VARY).
The negative i see is sometimes you'll be matched with someone and the match is laggy.
