DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE 2

Okay so be realistic about your expectations coming into this:

First off, no version of Super or Ultra or Deluxe or Ultimate of this game comes with all the DLC, they have monetized it to the level that the Sims 4 would blush. That being said, most of it's just more characters and glamours and zero-plot missions that you can grind through.

The server is hot garbage soup, the matchmaking system is busted as hell, and the community are all cheating so if you want a good PVP experience this probably isn't it.

However, if you want a spectacle-fighter RPG where you get to make your own original DBZ character and fight through the big events of the story and have a fun time, then there's at least 50 hours of content here if you even *mildly* engage with the treadmill, and then for $10 you can get the whole plot of the last game to play through, on top of that. I bought it on sale and have zero regrets.

I installed a mod and it fucked up all my mods and my game, so I decided to go scorched Earth as opposed to fixing everything. Oh, and the game is pretty mid. Just buy a good game instead.

If you liked the first chapter, it's almost impossible for you to hate this one: it takes the gameplay of the first chapter and improves it while continuing the equally interesting plot (there's also the integration of data with the first chapterooh). Too bad that the masked saiyan can be understood from a mile away only by knowing the anime.

After all these years this game is still playable and keeps getting new DLC props to that.

Every once in a while I'll get the itch to play this game again.

It's a solid DBZ experience, with a whole lot of content. I really enjoy being able to create and customize my own character.

Now, you should just get it when it's on sale. Really think for a minute before purchasing any DLC for it because if you're anything like me, you're probably not going to actually play any of the characters in those packs.

Absolutely check out the modding scene. The mod community for this game is absolutely outrageous and has produced so much for you to enjoy. I honestly can't play XV2 without mods anymore. Though using mods often means you can't play online, I couldn't care less. The online play of this game is not the draw.

i have been playing this game since last year, but it still the best game i have played. it has so many storyline that make me excited to finish it

Fun but way too grindy in my opinion. also the combat can just be easily cheesed by spamming the same combo's

But, based off of videos I've seen, I can tell this game is a good experience. But, most likely tedious/time-consuming.

I really want to like Xenoverse 2 but it's just so bad. I get why people like it and I tried really hard but I just can't play this game.

After a past update, if you play on Linux, EAC will not function on this game. Meaning you can ONLY play offline. This limits alot of the game and features and so while I played it alot before, I can't recommend it myself. Other EAC games run just fine. It's only this one, so far, I see with these severe issues. And it's exclusively the EAC that's causing it.

This is the ultimate DBZ RPG there is no more comprehensive game you can make a human, sayian, namekian, Buu's race, or freezas race and humans and sayians offer male and female options all options have not only their own kinds of attacks freezas race uses it tail in fighting and namekians can stretch so they do this in combat. If you add to that sayians and humans male and female options are different for instance sayains have the least starting hp but males have a focus and females have a different one, then look into that you can level up as you play to a max of level 160 as I am typing this with 512 total attribute points that you can distribute to your skills those being Hp,physical attacks, ki, blasting attacks and super attacks I may be leaving something out if so sorry but those I know you have you can make up for your weakness such as sayians having by far the least starting hp and make them have more then spread the points out to make your character your own each character is unique and you can have the powers from any part of DBZ for instance I love using dodon ray from tien and kamehameha as well as going supersayian during a battle all of which you can do if its in the shows or movies its in the game you can learn any attack any form you want and build your perfect character.I don't think there is a way to beat that!

Very Fun, I am now addicted to Dragon Ball Z and still haven't watched the Anime and only played the games

Great game, only wished they allowed 4 player co-op and its a touch grindy.

Minor gripes are the tutorial doesn't really teach you the complex techniques needed to finish certain missions, such as Zamasu's mentor missions in his paid DLC. It also has really clunky/unintuitive controls for said combos in the more complex optional Combo tutorial missions and Zamasu's mentor missions which can lead to a lot of frustration. But unless you care about 100% or collecting stuff, you can usually skip a lot of stuff.

I've played for over 300 ours across PC and consoles, one of my favorite games, so much content. One of my favorite games of all time

This game on the PC platform was at one point fun, but since sparking zero was released it pretty much has died out, when i first started to play this game getting a pvp match with someone random was as easy as just loading into the multiplayer lobby but now you have to have to be lucky to just find someone online in the first place and even then they may not want to pvp and with whats left of the pvp community that is active i dont blame them , so many skill combos that are used to "cheese" is not funny, if you see someone using a skill known as Handy canon there is a 90% chance they are going to spam it and try and infinite combo with it just for an easy win same with skills like "Ki blast canon" to attempt to stun-lock or "backflip" to abuse I-frames. Then you have the super souls, there are so many super souls yet the ones you see 9 times out of 10 are "Hmmm Hmmmmm Hmmmm" which gives you infinite Healing if you pair it with an awoken skill and a power up skill or "something Deadly is about to happen" which gives healing for as long as your locked on target has 80% ki or more [ yes im guilty of using that one how ever its more skill based but i can see where people who have been playing longer than me would say the same thing about the other one ]

if you still plan on getting this after reading this Review i suggest you play it with mods for best enjoyment for the PC and play that with friends [ there are guides on how to play mods online with friends ]

My review might change in the near future due to the new director over Xenoverse 2's Development so things may change for the better [ the introduction to Ultra instinct for our CAC's along with the Festival of Universes Update was something that was brought to us by the new director ]

Nothing but an unbalanced cash grab.

There's no hope for XV2, but I hope devs will make it so there's no pissibilities to cheese, mod, cheat and abuse anything in XV3. It's about online PVP. Feels like developers was never even trying to play online.

Good mind numbing fun. The board/figure game is fun and the fighting is just good enough to be a good game to relax to. On sale at this point for sure.

If you like Dragon ball you will like this game although there are a lot of issues that keep popping up and will probably never be fixed like Match making issues and servers that are held together with hope and duct tape. Some combos only working online some only working Offline some english voice bugs in dlc that will never be fixed. but overall i still really enjoy the game.

Modding this is too confusing for my caveman brain. W game tho

I hope that the manga "Dragon Ball" can continue with new stories. amazing game with alot of characters from the dragon ball universe and the gameplay is very good with different power ups. but im a little disappointed with ultra instinct since it does not give any boost to speed , strength , and super attacks and this is suppose to be the ultimate technique that even gods struggle to get

The custom player character's are really interesting I recommend playing a Saiyan as the other races don't seem to have a way to keep up with the later transformations like SSG.

If you really like dragon ball just grab it now! customize a character is so cool!

As someone who has beaten this game on ps4 and pc with a friend.
This is a decent Game plagued by constant dlc and bad pc port.
I was in love with xenoverse 1 when it came out and i did XV2 for a long time. The only true thing that people use this for is for modding. The ps version is where you will find most of the dedicated players. Pc is mostly a ghost town on vanilla.
Overall if you havent played it, its worth playing, but at a very discounted price, Alot of the DLC are just characters and a few missions with no real incentive to play it. Its alot of fan service with no real point other than that. I became saddened when it kept adding more and more dlc to it instead of a 3rd installment.
Overall for what it is, it is a decent game plagued by a bad pc port, but if u like modding, that is where it shines on here sadly.

the actual fighting part is good, however most of it is running around talking to npcs

Very poor game mechanics....no real thrill.....became worse after 2020

I just couldn't see a reason to play this. 30+ pages of Bandai Namco EULA that basically amounts to "agree to us tracking everything about you and your machine," gameplay that is just like XV1 (with some minor tweaks, but really, who's counting?), MMO mechanics, FOMO shit, forced online interaction for the best gear, $300+ in DLC. This ain't it. Identical to XV1, but with more cosmetics. The grind is the same.

this game is good but it pisses me off all the time. u cant complete the last few things at the acadamy because the game itself will either a u press the buttons and it does the moves but it wont count it and b because when u do a move the trainer moves before u can land it i tried to complete the second to last one for 30 mins thats insane and it all falls on the fact that the trainer will move right then u do the left analogy stick and x/square which is a move that takes a second to build up but when u finally do it the trainer moves like why and how is that even a thing thats stupid for real and its not just me everyone online says it takes them almost an hour before it works A HOUR for something thats suppose to be like a tatoral and should only take 15 mins max also unless u complete every one in order to go over level 80 which sounds high but its not u reach it by the time ur half down with the game so if u dont feel like taking an hour of screaming at a broken game combo than u fed for later in the game this is the dumbest thing i have even seen i do love this game but i cant give it a thumbs up if it doesnt work like its suppose to sorry not sorry

Good game, best Dragon Ball game even in my opinion. Pretty good character customization, transformations aren't the best but they're certainly good enough, great Dlc's and fun online.

I like building you're own DBZ fighter and the campaign is fun to play, fun story and fun fights. the additional stories from DLC and fighters are fun too. Just a fun game for a DBZ fan.

Over 200 dollars if you want all the DLC. Scam, but apparently a lot of slaves support this kind of monetization system

the combat is fun and fast-paced, love the customization options. the game is grindy, sure, but has a lot of content. hero colosseum is also very enjoyable.

this game is basically just the saying "when life gives you lemons, make lemonade", only the lemon is long since expired from sitting out too long, and the lemonade is made by artificially remaking the lemon, and THEN turning it into lemonade (Via mods). 9/10 would play again.

really fun combat.... boring story, way to much meaningless banter... stopped following the story pretty early on in the game.. Overall I really like the gameplay mechanics, and the visuals are great too... apart from the story this game makes one SUPER FRUSTRATING MISTAKE that's rediculously common: When you retry a fight the game shows you the cinematics all over again... Now you can skip these, which helps a bit, but sometimes there's like 3 or 4 consecutive cinematics and you wait for the game to load each one only to skip it.... so Waiting, skip, waiting, skip, waiting, skip, waiting, skip..... ok can I fight now??????? Just load the fight when selecting retry please... seems like an easy thing to fix, or just not design poorly, but this game is not alone with these issues. It amazes me games are still made that do this..

ok with that frustration out of the way (clearly i keep failing on one particular battle) I do very much like and recommend the game for anyone who wants a good dragonball universe battle experience with lots of cool customization options both visual and build options.

all the game is about rn are dlcs , like dont get me wrong the game is very fun etc , but you hard stop at 100 parralel quests if you dont pay for dlcs , like the dlcs cost more than the game itself and they dont add anything new to the game if you dont buy dlcs

Lots of fun with lots to do and not enough time to do it. A must play for all Dragon Ball fans!!!!

This isn't just an Arena Fighter, it's an MMO, an Action RPG, a Dating Sim, whatever the Hero Colosseum is, and an absolute Grindfest, but this has to be my favorite Dragon Ball game of all time.
Is it the best? Nah, not at all, like I said this game is an insane Grindfest and will easily eat hours of your life, but if you can stomach the grind you'll find something quite special.
Some of the most satisfying movement I've ever experienced in an arena fighter too, it feels a bit stiff once you start but after learning how to Ki Cancel everything just starts to make sense.

i love the game but i hate the way they changed the leveling system and its much harder now to get ssjb

I've never had a game make me feel so much like I'm actually in the show it's based on, the impacts feel weighty, the powers are flashy, and being able to pull of vanish combos and cutting through attacks with beams like I really am one of the Z-Fighters is so satisfying.

10/10
