I was going to try to give this a chance in spite of the terrible pixel art and poor audio, but no positives can be found here. The only thing difficult about this game is the terrible control scheme that can't be rebound. The game can be beat in about 10-15 minutes. It solely exists to farm trading cards, seeing as it's included in a bundle called 'Trading Cards Mega Discount Bundle'.
Top Game of 2024 with stunning visuals, impressive soundtrack, precise controls, and an engaging storyline. A definite 10/10 purchase for any gamer.
Little Jack's Adventures is a little cute pixelated platform game. I know it's weird to start by a good sentence but the game is actually bad. Don't get it.
Little Jack's Adventures is a platformer template copy + paste game. This crapware is just a reskin/rearrange of a basic Asobe Flash 2D retro pixel platformer template. It's only one level, only about 10 minutes to finish. This obviously has no value as a real game, it's just more Russian asset flipper shovelware. This was put on Steam to abuse Valve's trading card feature, which has, due to the proliferation of garbage games like this, caused far more harm than good.
Mihai Morosanu have a known history of trying to scam people into paying them money for someone else's work, through this account or through closely linked/alt accounts. An example of Mihai Morosanu doing this is Vogue, The Explorer, which is really "3D Game Kit", written by the actual developers, Unity Technologies. Also, Totally Mayhem, which is really "Full Game Kit - Hammer 2", developed by XForm Games.
So, we know the developer is an asset flipper, and we know this is just a fake game dumped on Steam to abuse trading cards. What if you decided to take this seriously anyway?
Taking this shovelware seriously as if it was a genuine attempt to make a game, it doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard.
A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result.
There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision.
The game only displays in 4:3 pillarboxed aspect ratio. It's possible they developed this using an old CRT they found in a dumpster, or this game has been specifically designed for people gaming on PC's from 1995... either way, this isn't really acceptable in the modern era of PC gaming.
The controls and game handling are notably very clunky and unsmooth here. It's janky and unsatisfying to play... and any experienced gamer will tell you, the handling, responsiveness and general gameplay feel of the control scheme must be well polished for this kind of game to succeed. Unfortunately, this is something the developer seems to have phoned in, with little to no apparent gameplay testing. They dropped the ball on this one.
The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts.
Comically, the game was written in Adobe Flash/AIR (I'm not making this up). Talk about not using the right tools for the job. Might as well try to bake a cake with a screwdriver. The extremely poor choice of game engine here is a major contributing factor to the defects with the game.
These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game.
Reviewing SteamDB to check how popular this game was with players reveals a surprise... there's a very healthy spike in player counts for the game. But this only appears around the same time that trading cards were applied to the game... so this is just card idlers getting their cards and moving on. A closer look at the numbers shows the game just has a couple of players every week running up the game and idling it for cards, then deleting it. We must ask how it benefits gamers for there to be so many games like this, with no merit as a serious game, that only generate sales from people idling and selling the trading cards.
Little Jack's Adventures is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, and the highly unethical nature of the Russian "developer", this is impossible to recommend. Remember, if you buy a game from an unethical developer, you're putting your money at risk.
Nice game for me. Thaks to the authors.
I can say that the game is much harder than it looks. But once you overcome the difficulty, it doesn't reward you properly after your success. While the level designs are similar, the character controls felt awkward. I can say it's a game to finish and throw in the corner.
what is this
Overpriced 10-minute game
A child with special needs might find this entertaining.
After playing the masterpiece that is Rescue your chickens I expected more. This game was absolute trash. Do not buy. The story is bad, the graphics are shit and the game controls as if your were a drunk chicken trying to cross the road.
Why bother playing some half baked game? One level, really? And second - probably unfinished - so they called it bonus... Its nice "backbone" for something bigger, but in this form its unacceptable. Better stick to "Win the game" game.
well done
Jack reminds me of COMMANDER KEEN from ancient days.
