Mayan Prophecies: Ship of Spirits Collector's Edition

This was a very enjoyable game. I found the puzzles to be rather easy. HOG scenes were packed full of pretty things to look at. Long & detailed storyline. Somehow, I am unable to complete the game. I am missing 1 piece of the calendar. The hint button shines over the armory yet there are no actions I can do there. It's a weird glitch, even odder is that it seems like I'm the only person with this problem. Posted the question in discussion, waiting to hear back from others.

There is nothing that I can specifically point to as exceptional about this game, yet I highly recommend it!

I found the HO scenes pretty challenging, while the mini-games provided a variety of easy fun. The story is okay. The voice acting is average. The interactive map is handy. You can play mahjong if you don't feel like HO fun (but then why are you playing a HOG? lol) Non-Steam achievements are available for those so inclined.

I can't put my finger on it, but something kept compelling me to play this game to the end once I started it. The main story took just under 4 hours, the bonus about an extra hour. I wasn't in any hurry, mind you. But whatever their secret ingredient is, the whole game is a really solid entry in the HOG genre.

This is one of the better HOG's I've played, Great graphics and the mini games aren't mind blowing impossible but some of them are a little challenging.

~ Interesting Mayan lore (even if very basic)

I found no glitches, and it kept me engaged. Looking forward to the next in the series!
I got it on sale and in the bundle, but the price is fine. The bonus chapter is short, but still has lots to do, and feels complete (not rushed like some).
Honestly, this game deserves more love ~ please give it a review if you play!

This one took a few hours to do, that was nice. It ran on my triple monitor system and that's a plus also. Overall it kept me engaged and was fun, worth buying on sale or not (I always do the sale price though).

"Ship of Spirits" is the first episode of "Mayan Prophecies.

Since this is a collector's edition, it comes with extra features that are not available in its' counterpart; the standard edition.

Game Visuals

I want to mention that the visuals in the game are nicely done. The visuals can be adjusted in the game's option menu.

Game Audio

I want to mention that audio for the game is well done. Even though the audio is somewhat simplistic and repetitive. The audio can be adjusted in the game's option menu as well.

Gameplay

There are four different difficulty game modes to choose from: Casual; Normal; Hard and Custom.

There is an interactive map in the game. It allows the player to fast travel between each location quickly. It also indicates that there are tasks that can be completed at certain locations. The interactive map is not automatically given at the start of the game.

There is a padlock feature that is available to lock the inventory panel in place to make it stationary.

The hidden object scenes consist of the following: Traditional word list. Some of these hidden object scenes may require little or no interactions.

Mahjong is an optional mini game that is only available during hidden object scenes.

The puzzles are fairly easy to solve without having the need to skip any of them.

There is a collectible in the game: Hummingbirds. They are scattered throughout the game for the player to find.

There are morphing objects (beyond objects.) They are scattered throughout the game for the player to find as well.

Since this is a collector's edition, there is a bonus chapter, but it can be accessed only after the main story is completed.

There are fifteen different achievements that can be unlocked from playing the game. Each of these achievements does come with some requirements that need to be completed before they can be unlocked. These achievements are in-game only.

Miscellaneous

There are extra features in the game: Bonus Chapter; Bonus Hidden Objects; Bonus Puzzles; Soundtracks; Screen Saver; Wallpapers; Concept Art;and Game's Strategy Guide. Most of these extra features can be accessed only after the entire game is completed.

Final thoughts: I have found the game enjoyable to a certain extent. The replay value for the game is low. I would recommend this game, but not at the game's full price value.

Let’s see if I can set the stage. You are playing as a law enforcement agent, who, with your partner, have just captured one of the most dangerous poachers in the world. As you are returning to base, a strange bank of fog blows in, and your speedboat gets run over by a centuries-old sailing ship. See, these Spanish explorers made the oft-made bad decision to plunder an ancient Mayan temple for treasure, and got themselves cursed for it. You know, the usual thing. Only you have to solve this issue if you want to get yourself and your partner out of this alive!

The HO scenes are fun, the plot interesting, and the minigames decent. Worth the time to play. Do suggest getting it in the bundle, as I suspect this will be an ongoing storyline.
