!!!THE GAME CONTAINS BUGS THAT PREVENT YOU FROM FINISHING IT!!!
I wish I was joking, but after (almost) 7 years since the game was released, these bugs haven't been fixed yet. There are several, and I strongly advise you to do research on how to prevent them from happening and read steam discussions if you do decide to play it.
The bug I personally encountered: you should burn the voodoo doll as soon as you get a piece of black chalk, BEFORE you finish all puzzles at the graveyard/chapel location. Otherwise, they just take away you lighter, and it doesn't let you progress further. This bug happened after I played 4 hours, there were about 20-30 minutes of puzzles left before the game's end. The only solution to fix it, from what I understood from other ppl who encountered it, is to replay the game.
I couldn't finish the game because of the bug, and I won't replay the whole game just to fix it and see the ending, but overall the game is pretty decent.
There are several bugs, and it crashes sometimes too (crashed about 3 times during 4 hours for me). The story isn't very interesting, pretty boring. Some puzzles are fun, some are too simple. Hidden object parts sometimes can be very tedious as well as parts where you have to combine some objects/use the ones you have in your inv, because they don't work well and require you to be very precise, almost pixel precise.
Soundtrack is mediocre, but I liked art in this game, some locations were drawn really well and I really loved the atmosphere.
Overall, I wouldn't recommend it. It's not Bad Bad, but it's not good either.
The game isn't worth all the effort to research and avoid bugs it requires.

I had a crashing issue, five times in total, but it always reopened fine and autosave kept me from losing progress, so it was not a game-breaking issue.

Comments:
The beginning of the game was a bit strange, but when I got to the mansion, I was really into it. There are a lot of places to go and do things. This hints will get you unstuck with any puzzles, HOPS, or where to go next. The map lets you transport to places & shows where actions can be taken. I believe a lot of time and attention to detail was used.
I mean I wasn't expecting much but I love mah finding object/puzzle games so gave this one a try. It's so awful and not even in the category of so bad it's good. Honestly I wouldn't waste your time. Pretty sure I got this game for free...still not worth hours of my life. -_-
An ok HOG that starts looking ok then ends up being a chore to finish.

stupid puzzles. normally i never skip any but i just skipped 2 of them as the game was getting on my nerves.
overall i do not recommend this game. it is boring and buggy. it does have a decent play time and trading cards but i still do not recommend it. if you really want to play it as a "hardcore HOG fan" like my self. get it on a sale or from a bundle, otherwise stay away.

Gameplay / Story
An ancient letter from a distant relative leads Jessica and three of her friends to a dilapidated villa. It gets scary when the ghost of a shaman appears and tells Jessica that her ancestor brought a gem from a trip to Africa many years ago and that the evil spirit that was trapped in it was able to escape. Only Jessica can banish the ghost again, but to do this she has to find the jewel, the 'Blue Tear', and so begins your dangerous adventure.

Gameplay / Geschichte
Der uralte Brief einer entfernten Verwandten führt Jessica und drei ihrer Freunde zu einer verfallenen Villa. Unheimlich wird es, als der Geist eines Schamanen erscheint und Jessica darüber aufklärt, dass ihre Vorfahrin vor vielen Jahren einen Edelstein von einer Afrika-Reise mitbrachte und dadurch der böse Geist, der darin gefangen war, entwischen konnte. Nur Jessica kann den Geist wieder bannen, doch dazu muss sie das Juwel, die 'Blaue Träne, finden und so mit beginnt dein gefährliches Abenteuer..

Fazit
Blue Tear bietet dir eine interessante Handlung mit einigen Rätseln, Wimmelbildern und überraschenden Wendungen. Ich würde es aber nicht für den vollen Preis kaufen und auf ein Sale warten.
While the game itself was ok, the game kept crashing so i wouldn't recommend it.
Combined with a look and feel of being in an exotic tropical setting, the first part of this game, 2 hours long, was the most enjoyable part of Blue Tear. The visuals were gorgeous, and the puzzles were clever. I took pause at the cool acoustic guitar music with a Latino flair. This game wasn’t perfect, but based on the first part, I’d give it a solid score – 3/5. A bit on the short side, but once I completed it, I felt like it had a satisfying enough conclusion.
Obviously, though, I forgot all about the goal of the story, because when the first part finished, I was half expecting credits to roll. Instead, the game continued with your character gaining access to the mansion, and it was a disappointment for miles.
The second part started with an obvious reduction in production value (did the producers run out of money or what?). The graphics weren’t as polished. The sound effects and background music were super loud, irritating and unoriginal (can we get that squeaky floor a nail, please?). I pressed on, the story taking an odd turn where you are now chasing down an animated porcelain scary AF doll with screws for hair. Your task now is to find pins to push into a voodoo doll that would break the Black Wizard’s curse. In a confusing story arc, you find your friends amid the junk in the mansion half dead (possessed? I can’t be sure). Thankfully, the visuals improved from the first scene the further into the game I got. Blue Tear is quite a large game (I clocked in over 7 hours and still wasn’t done!), and the gamer explores every square inch of that property, with over 20 different areas to explore and puzzles to solve. And just when you thought you had seen it all, another part opens up to you. WOW, right?
I don’t think, in all my time reviewing hidden object games, that I’ve encountered a game quite as unique in its problems as this game. Blue Tear teeters on “HOLY SHIT!” to literal holy shit. Aside from the disparity in quality throughout the game, Blue Tear CRASHES. It crashes mid-play, losing progress. It crashes every time I log out of the game. It crashes CONSTANTLY. This is a documented issue with users on Steam, yet nothing has been done about it. The game’s recommended operating system is Windows 7 – perhaps it can’t handle Windows 10? In the end I could not finish the game.
And that is where I leave you. Blue Tear had promise in the first part, but because of its problems, I cannot recommend it to anyone. It blows.
The story seems interesting, but the game crashes with a fatal error. I haven't been able to proceed. Beyond that, it is also difficult because the graphics are not great, making it really hard to find things for HOG. I would avoid this one and go with something else.
The puzzles seem okay and the story might be interesting, but I couldn't even watch the intro cinematic without encountering a fatal error that leaves me with a white/grey screen and the audio playing in the background. I restarted the game several times and everytime the fatal error would happen the second I hit "Next" to continue. This can be avoided by completely skipping the cinematic, but I would have liked to get the story part of the game too. The developer doesn't have access to the source code anymore (read the Steam discussions), so any bugs and issues like the one mentioned above will never be fixed. Hardcore HOG fans might be interested in picking up the game, but I wouldn't recommend it, unless you get the game during a sale and only if you don't mind the flaws. There are other issues with the game - check the other reviews and the forum.
This is a long and detailed casual point-and-click adventure withs lots of hidden-object scenes and puzzles, but it is hampered by technical problems.
First, I and many other people could not get it to run in full-screen mode. Depending on your resolution, it could mean that the game appears naturally as a tiny little window. The way to fix this is to change your desktop resolution: an awkward and annoying workaround. This might make most people pass on this game.
It also crashed on me a few times. This was easily solvable by restarting the game: it continued from exactly the same place.
For those who stay, prepared to have issues with “pixel hunting”: you sometimes need to click at the exact right tiny little place for an action to register. This is frustrating, because it might appear to you that you did not solve the puzzle correctly, when if fact you were correct.
If you can stomach those problems, you will be rewarded with beautiful graphics and complex gameplay. The story itself isn't very special, but it takes you through two very different settings, almost feeling like two different games, and features some memorable characters and animations. The voice acting is, as usual for this genre, mediocre.
Honestly, I wanted to list some things that are good about the game and some things that are bad. However, I can't seem to recall a lot of the things that I liked about the game. It MIGHT have been fun if it didn't constantly crash. Also, even if it didn't crash, I would still get error messages after ending the game, and for some reason my computer slowed down afterwards. If I wanted my computer to start working again, I had to restart it.
The story looked interesting in the beginning, but the end was just weird and confusing. If the main thing I remember about a game is that it confused me, it is not that good. I wouldn't recommend it since it doesn't seem to work, and I wouldn't recommend it for the story.
I'm playing this on a brand-new Dell XPS15 with 16GB ram , and the game still crashes regularly. Some of the hidden object scenes are... weird. I play games like this one a lot, but this one may be the most confusing I've encountered. I'm not sure if I want to recommend it. Since I have to give it a thumbs up or down though I'll still give it a yes, hoping the crashes will get fixed.
I invested 5 hours into this game before a major bug made it impossible for me to continue. I missed to pick up black chalk from the crypt (many items are much too hard to see btw) and now I can't go back.

I wish I could give a neutral recommendation for this one. I didn't hate it but it wasn't the best either. Some of the puzzles were too easy. Others didn't have clear instructions so I just skipped those. The graphics were good. I played on a Win 7 pc, so I didn't have problems running the game. The story was really weird. I didn't like the beginning. I was waiting for my cards to drop or I might not have played past it. The ending wasn't bad, but it kinda scared me though. When I got to the end, my first though was "Oh god, don't tell they are making a part 2". I would recommend only if it is really, really cheap or if you have a severe love of HOGs.
Well quite boring, not sure what was going on half the time. The things you had to do didn't make sense. You had to be really exact where you place objects, but when it's like a wet broom in tiny version and you're told to click on the trunk in hint... obviously you click on the trunk.... not according to the game, you actually need to click on the right branch!!! Then I get back to the house from the savannah area the game kept crashing with fatal errors. Just don't bother even wasting your time and money on this one.
I"m surprised there isn't one review and honestly I"m not sure how this works so not even sure this one will show up.
The reason for this review being negative isn't because I didn't enjoy the game.
I actually liked the game and was having fun playing until it was unplayable due to you can't finish the game because of the huge flaw in the game play design of it near the end of the game.
What makes this a game not to purchase is that the developers designed this game so that an essential item you need to finish the game that is used way before near the end of it simply disappears because you use it on a previous task, leaving you stuck at a crucial part near the end of the game because you can't find another source for this item or way to get it back without starting completely over.
This means if you find this out after you been playing the game you already invested a lot of time and can't finish the game.
This may be a game I come back in the future just to see if the solution I found is doable considering if you mess up again your stuck in starting over again however why would I want to start all over again any time soon having just played it over a couple of days ( I don't usually play a game through in one session and play times will reflect me leaving games active even if not playing at the moment) having to search and discover a solution only because I found a random post online explaining what we have to do in order to complete the game.
if you do have this game or want to get it read the game discussions here on steam first because I posted how to get around this issue in the game. I haven't tested it out but maybe in the future will.
I don't know why when games I would think are usually tested by the developers and even later sometimes problems are found and they create a patch or update to correct them that this game hasn't been looked into but why have a game for sale one can't even finish :c
disappointed and since my playtime is well over 2hrs before I even encountered this issue no chance of requesting a refund from steam, though it was on sale I would be asking for my $3.35 back due to unable to finish the game. :c
Three hours into the game and it's starting to get annoying. Some puzzles are much too easy, some don't seem at all logical and some are just tedious (the Skip button is becoming very useful), and basically you do stuff when you see there is something you can do, whether or not you understand why you're doing it. Also, one hidden object scene instructed me to pick an item I need to return to a gate when I had not even seen the gate in question yet. How are you supposed to pick the item? Clicking everything randomly, of course. I suppose I'll play this through, bit by bit, but I'm not expecting it to get any better. I cannot recommend this, so I'll have to vote No, although something in between would be more accurate.
To be honest I was disappointed. Puzzles are quite easy, the story seems a little far-fetched. The potential of cursed manor, ghosts and voodoo was wasted. I like HOP games, but this one just bored me. Despite the description, there are no trading cards for the badge (hope it will be fixed in the future).
On the bright side, pleasant music, HO scenes are little more diversified than usual, but not much, the concept is interesting.
It is not a bad game, but it is not a good one either.
I wasn't too sure with this game to begin with as there were no reviews, but I'm glad I took a chance with it. The story is original, the atmosphere is good, the backgrounds and scenery is pretty and the puzzles are varied in idea and difficulty. I don't even have any real complaints other than the ending being a bit lame.
