I am 32 years old.

My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old.

When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing.

Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side.

With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay.

After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like.

Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends.

Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together.

Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that.

Thank you.

This game has potential, and it's not a bad game, but it does have some major flaws.

Pros: Nice concept, some fun levels. Easy achievements.

Cons: Controls are absolutely horrible and game-breaking. You use the directional keys to move in diagonal directions, and when you inevitable hit the wrong one you often have to restart the entire level. Also very short, only a few levels in the base game and hardly any on the workshop. Most are quite easy. Took me about an hour to finish all of them.

This is one of those times I wish there were a neutral review choice because while I don't recommend this game, I wouldn't explicitly advise against buying it, either. To me, the negatives outweigh the positives, so I'll lean towards "Not Recommended".

There are 50 levels total -- 40 in level pack 1 and 10 in level pack 2. It has Steam Workshop integration, but there are only 11 levels there. Most of the levels are easy and don't require much, if any, thinking. A few of the levels are trickier, however.

The graphics leave much to be desired. The main gameplay graphics (the ground, the block you control, the blocks to be removed, and the animation when those blocks are removed) are minimalist, but good for this type of game. However, the ancillary graphics (menu, buttons, etc) don't look good, in my opinion. Those graphics are too "low-resolution", as if they're being drawn on a 320x200 resolution screen.

The controls also leave much to be desired. The game uses an isometric perspective, so your movement is diagonal, but you use the arrow keys to move your block. The controls menu shows a controller is supported, and if using a controller, then there are two methods for movement -- using the stick or the directional pad. When using the keyboard, however, you use only the arrow keys -- no alternative method is provided and the keys are not rebindable. Because you use the arrow keys to move in diagonal directions -- the up arrow moves you up and to the left, the down arrow moves you down and to the right, the left arrow moves you down and to the left, and the right arrow moves you up and to the right -- it can be confusing or disorienting, potentially leading you to make mistakes which you must then undo (you are allowed 5 undo actions per level) or restart the level. Additionally, when you complete each level, you must use the mouse to click the "Next" button; there is no keyboard shortcut for this.

The biggest problem I had, and the thing which pushed me towards "Not Recommended", is that on two separate occasions -- once while playing the normal levels and once while playing the largest, most difficult Workshop level -- the game showed the "game over" screen for the level (your only choices are to restart the level or go to the main menu), even though there were still plenty of moves left to be made. The game should show that screen only when it is impossible to finish the level (because there is no way to remove the remaining blocks), but that was not the case either of those times. The levels do not have a time limit, so it appears this is a bug.

For what it's worth, I did enjoy playing the levels, even though they were mostly easy. If it weren't for the controls and the bug, I would recommend this game.

That game has some good points (concept, music/sound), but is way too short and way too easy to be enjoyable !
Finished everything in 40 minutes !!!

Now I have to run it "idle" to get the remaining trading cards ...

very disappointed :/

There is nothing hugely wrong with it, its got a good aesthetic, and its tried and tested sokoban play.
but Sokoban and its many, many clones are free, have thousands of levels, that get to maddening levels of difficulty.
This game costs 1.79, has 40 levels, and you can finish it in half an hour.

With more content it could have scraped by with a recommend, though I think even a good clone of Sokoban (which is over three decades old now) should have more mechanics and such to make it interesting.
As it stands, there just isnt enough here.

If its on sale and you want to support the dev pick it up, otherwise there are plenty of other budget indie games that have a lot more to them.

Since Update:
Got a pack of 10 more levels and integration with the steam workshop. Again it suffers from a lack of challenge, although the 3rd new level is probably one of the best in the game.
I also forgot to mention in the previous review that the game lacks some basic options all games should have. No apparent windowed mode, no volume controls just a basic mute, etc.
As for the level creator: I did grab all the levels currently up on the workshop. Most are just tests which is to be expected, but there are a couple of solid ones that if not hugely challenging do have some longevity to them. ('break tru' and 'maze' to be specific.) Im no puzzle designer but the editor seems nice and easy to use. Its a good addition all in all.

With all that said, I did actually come back to a bunch of levels to improve my score, and I was thinking of switching to a recommend now Id got a more reasonable play time, but then I noticed that the scoring appears to be broken, defeating much of the point of me diving back in...

[Complete a level with a score of 10,000 it adds to your total which goes up to lets say 100,000.
Complete the level again and get a score of 10,001 and you should presumably now have a total score of 100,001 but you dont. The game seems to forget to take the initial 10,000 off so you get 110,001 instead. I was trying to perfect each level and because it was clocking the scores up by thousands of points more than I deserved each time, I ended up top of the score board by a ridiculous margin. I thought I was mastering things but really it just seems to be broken (Or very poorly designed) and consequently it gives me no real indication of how well Ive done at all.]

Interlogic is a basic puzzle game. Very basic, even, but it does provide an hour of puzzling (even though there are only a few challenging levels) so I hesitantly recommend it to puzzle game afficionados or if you can pick it up heavily discounted or in a bundle.

Gameplay

You control a small robot that can push blocks around. If two or more blocks of the same colour are connected by pushing them next to each other, they disappear. The level is completed when all the blocks have vanished. You fail when there's only one block of its colour left or when you've made it impossible to push the remaining blocks next to each other.

The game has 40 levels. The difficulty of the levels seems random; there's no real steady increase in difficulty like in most puzzle games. Sometimes you'll be served a level that requires some thinking and planning or even a few tries to get it right, and the level after that may well be a ridiculously easy one.

Because of the game's perspective, the controls feel very clumsy and do take some getting used to. Take a look at the screenshots: the levels are rectangular in shape and you're looking straight at one of the corners. That means pressing 'up' makes the robot move towards the upper right corner of your screen, 'left' makes the robot move towards the upper left corner of your screen, 'down' makes the robot move towards the lower left corner of your screen and 'right' makes the robot move towards the lower right corner of your screen.

I found it impossible to play the game using the mouse. Using the arrow keys of the keyboard worked better but I still had trouble moving the robot where I wanted him to go. That meant that sometimes I unintentionally pushed a block into a dead corner, causing me to have to restart the level. Actually, it was only when I tilted my head a bit to the right, making 'up' actually meaning 'go up' and so on, that I managed to make the robot go where I wanted him to go without making any unintentional mistakes.

There's an 'undo' button that allows you to undo your last move. You can use the button up to 5 times. Each step the robot takes counts as a move, though, so often the undo button couldn't really undo anything that mattered and restarting the level was the only option. In the screenshots on the Steam Store page, you see high numbers like 28 and 33 on top of the 'undo' button. I don't understand where that comes from as for me, the counter always stayed at 5.

The game keeps a score while you play but I don't see the point, really.

Graphics and music

Interlogic is made in Unity. The graphics are basic but that's okay for a block-based puzzle game. The main menu is extremely basic graphic wise, too, looking like a menu from a 1980s game.

The music is subtle, non-intrusive and actually sounds very good as background music to a game like this.

On Steam's extra features

Interlogic has 5 Steam Trading Cards. You'll get 3 while running the game.

The 5 Steam Achievements are granted for:

  • completing the tutorial levels
  • completing all the levels
  • retrying a level 5 times
  • completing 5 levels without undo or retry
  • [*] completing 10 levels without undo or retry

Quite easy, rather boring. I was playing on a MacBook and the Controls really suck, especially if you want to undo a false one with Touchpad. Would be nice to mention you have to swipe in Main-Menue to access the rest of the levels. ;)

Jan 2018 Update: The level editor and workshop support have been released!

Original 2017 review: interLOGIC is a nice straightforward puzzle game that will give you 1-2hrs of fun. The level editor and steam workshop were close to being released but then they went silent.

As is, it's definitely worth at least $1. If you're new to puzzle games, this is a good starter.

Rather too easy if you're practised with this sort of puzzle - it only took me 30 minutes to clear the game.

The scoring system isn't explained, nor do there appear to be any target scores for levels, so I've no inclination to replay levels for score. (There is some kind of global ranking based off your total score, but I didn't seem to be showing on it.)

Still, it was a pleasant (if brief) diversion, and quite cheap.
