Note: got the game on sale. ^^;
A not-too-terrible little rogue-like with a focus on balance. Shoot or move? Sustain planet or increase damage? Kinda fun concept. :)
No idea why the music doesn't work, though. o.o;;
I am 32 years old.
My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old.
When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing.
Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side.
With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay.
After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like.
Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends.
Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together.
Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that.
Thank you.

A fine rouglike-ish game with upgrade system and permadeath. Pretty glitchy at times at not the best game to look at, but it has its charm!
Give it a try!
The game is okay for what it is compared to its asking price, but it needs a lot of work if it wants to be anything more than that.
You can't remap any of the buttons, there's no way to switch keyboard layout (if you use AZERTY keyboards for example) and there's no controller/gamepad support either. This makes it almost impossible to play for those whom are left handed or disabled.
The game throws you right into gameplay without explaining what any of the upgrades or buttons do and I'm pretty sure I didn't see any tutorial or information screen.
Cute game, really could use some controller support for causal gamers in their house.
A Rough Little Gem With A Lot Of Potential
I bought this game because I thought it had a cute concept and I liked the name. It looks sort of like a more involved tower defence game so I thought for $3, why not?
The game controls by moving your ship with W and pointing, but you have limited fuel causing you to be careful about how much you move. Your primary weapon can overheat and with some items that can happen really fast. Making up the meat of the game, there are upgrades for the rock and your ship, many of which are standard upgrades that increase speed, health, regeneration.
The rock itself can be upgraded into a habitable planet. There are mechanics to provide food and water for the people on the planet, but there doesn't seem to be much of a reason to except for some seemingly random events that are quiestionably useful. The rock can also be upgraded with circling drones that you can specialize in a branching upgrade tree. I think these are some of the most interesting parts of the game, but once you have an army of drones of different specializations they are unstoppable.
The ship has a few different upgrades that include abilities that are bought with skill points that are gained while leveling and crafting materials that you will eventually have a huge stockpile of since there are so few abilities. There are a couple of abilities that are extremely overpowered and are another part of the game that eventually makes the game a breeze.
There are drops of unique items that seem to be inspired by Risk of Rain. Some of the effects of these items are mysterious still due to there being no encyclopedia of sorts that explain what they do. Most items are pretty obvious in what they do and are usually stat changes. Once again, these stat changes tend to add up to eventually create an unstoppable killing machine. There is an option to pick up the items to through them away, since some do have drawbacks, but eventually you will be getting so many that it won't matter at all.
I think the upgrades are pretty neat and definitely are the highlight of the game for sheer variety. Unfortunately the enemy and boss variety while interesting in the early game, becomes a bit dry once you become powerful enough and any new enemies melt like butter. In the early game especially, certain item and upgrade combinations can really change up your playstyle as this is the only time where you are vulnerable. Unfortunately this doesn't last. There are modifiers you can add to the game but even with all of them on, I could tell it would end up the same way. Still, the early game is pretty fun.
I would like to see more of a visual indication of what the upgrades for the ship change, and how those change alongside the items. Right now you can only really guess that something is probably different as the upgrades them selves are extremely marginal, with the items (possibly?) changing your stats somewhat drastically.
This is a slight recommendation since this game is only a few dollars and for a few dollars you can spend a good couple of hours creating an unstoppable planet. For a first game, this is a solid start! Here's hoping the dev continues to polish it and makes the balance more interesting.
