I absolutely loved the start of the game and hoped that the rest would be similar. but once they started introducing more and more one-off gimmicks to the levels it started tanking in gameplay where instead of constantly doing cool parkour and shooting through the levels they would either spawn no enemies and make you do a puzzle or, punish you for failing parkour challenges by giving you enemies. I'm honestly so dissapointed about this because i loved the concept and gameplay(at first) but just got annoyed of it. i think the sequel was a step in the right direction but still not there. i do hope that they plan to make another game that improves on this or have a fan remake but it in the later levels it still plays like a bad sonic game.
A very fun and silly action game. The stunts are easy to execute and make you feel powerful in a fun way as you fight your way through the varied levels.

gets repetitive but its not bad
I've sunk around 200 hours to hotline miami 1 and 2 since I got them in summer of 2023 (writing this in January 2025). I got this game expecting a similar experience but was hella disappointed. I really like the challenge of hlm that you have to complete the whole level without taking a single hit (with a few checkpoints). My Friend Pedro does have a no checkpoints/one life mode but I won't try it, since I played the whole thing on the hardest difficulty knowing that if I get stuck I won't lower it, I'll just have to get better.
The gameplay against enemies is nowhere as cool as in hlm. In this game you'll face about 3 enemies at a time on average, with about 5 seconds of moving to the next room. Whereas in hlm, you can choose to face the enemies one room at a time (fucking little bitch) or you can clear all the rooms instantly one after another (very cool, very fun, very based). Also the kills in this game rarely feel rewarding. Most of the "heck yeah" moments you'll recieve are from turning the head of a fiend into a fine pulp with a shotgun from point blank range. The other 99% of the time the goons you kill just.. fall down.
About the checkpoints in this game. Dying does not feel like a punishment at all. It feel more like a "Oh no my little baby, it seems like you didn't have enough health to kill all those goons. Here let me put you back into the exact moment before contact with the enemies but this time I'll give you slightly more health".
Also the story is absolute shit it only makes sense in the first 2 chapters. The ending is cliché as shit, it doesn't make sense, it isn't being built up to and there is zero character development.
The game does have it's John Wick type moments but they can get very boring since you don't "earn" them. I'd say the game is in a dilemma since it's difficulty is perfect for 5-year-olds but you shouldn't really show them this type of content.

I played the original flash game on Y8 Way way way back, it was one of my favorites. you cant believe how just... happy i am that this exists. very fun. you go back and S rank every level

Not sure about the overwhelmingly positive reviews. It feels a bit frustrating and overly punishing at times. Never finished it and nor do I plan to.
best indie game with good gameplay and good gun play with slow motion
If you don't expect much from it then it will make a hell of a fun afternoon for you. The levels are short and fast (less than 5 mins each) and each level present a small new mechanic to keep things interesting throughout the whole game. The last couple of levels add a little bit of platforming and dodging lasers which I didn't enjoy as much as the other levels. But overall it was a fun 3-4 hours of gameplay.

Talking to a sentient banana and doing some action movie-esque kills is pretty swag. S ranking on Bananas difficulty is also a nice challenge for the epic gamers.

Pretty fun game, But I really wish it was a lot more gun running and they removed all the interference that break the flow of the game, Like putting boxes infront of holes you need to roll into and the slow "elevators" and having to move the barrels to jump up to the next level, Also would of been better if you could manually aim the secondary fire instead of it auto locking I would rather manually aim to the head of the second enemy instead of the auto body lock, However still a pretty fun game its pretty much side scroller max payne
pretty good game, though it is short at only around a 4 hour story and some small replayability in game modifiers and some fun achievements
my only gripe is the cost, its 30 dollars for this game which i do not believe is fair, so id wait for a pretty large sale first, which it tends to go on occaisonally

I’m a simple man. Banana tell me to kill so I kill. When you do cool stuff, Pedro appears showing you he is pleased. I now live to please Pedro. Will Pedro ever please me though? That is the question.
9/10 would recommend. Gameplay is awesome. Music is awesome. Pedro is awesome. Final chapter wasn’t as bad as made out to be in other reviews. Played on hard and was challenging but not impossible. Not being able to independently route my game audio to my gaming channel on my GoXLR… less awesome.
Its an ok game, but not the SUPER ULTRA POSITIVE everyone praises about.
In the middle of the game you go to dreamland and change a little the gameplay, but the last chapter... the lasers are boring as hell.
Also the enemies are always the same there is no much variety in visuales or backgrounds.
Graphics are mobile like, gameplay is what you see in the first 2 levels, everything else is cheapo.
If you want an ok short game, get it on a discount, had it in my library for like 4 years now gave it a run and Im not impressed, typical Devolver Digital game.

VERY INTERESTING AND FUN AT FIRST, BUT GOT BORING EXTREMELY FAST
This is my ever steam review but i wrote it so i can rant a bit. I really dont understand what happened for me with this game. I first saw it like half a year before release and was EXTREMELY hyped for it and then it came out. And i played like until i first got on the skateboard and then got bored of it. Now, 4 ish years later i decided to give it one more chance since i had a free Friday evening. Dont get me wrong, the mechanics are REALLY amazing, like the split aim shoot and all. But although for me it seemed like a somewhat Deadpool simulator, it really got OLD fast. Like, when i reached the skate and the helicopter boss, i was really fed up with it, like it really was a chore to complete it. Sure, it is fun and it feels very free, but only for like the first 30 mins. After that it really feels extremely repetitive, even though it introduces NEW mechanics. Idk maybe it is not for me, but i usually love difficult platformers like Hollow Knight and Nine Sols. Idk what happened, but i gave it a second chance after i bought it years ago, and it really felt like a chore to complete it. Btw not complete it all S+++ rank, nah C, B rank so i didnt really tried hard.
Interesting, BUT VERY BORING AFTER 1 HOUR
It's a total blast – it's like doing backflips while dual-wielding pistols, all with a talking banana as your guide. Runs well on both Steam Deck and PC. Would recommend
Game was too predictable, but whoever used his/hers imagination to create this game. I congratulate that person.. A banana holding guns, I could never see this in my dream, not even dream... I couldn't think of it in my entire life
