Описание

The year is 2049. Technology and capitalism have kept plodding forward unabated. Today almost every business in the world is owned by one of five mega-corporations or one of their many subsidiaries. Robotics have streamlined and automated every production industry. The divide between the rich and the poor has turned into a vast expanse, with unemployment rates at an all time high. Why pay a man when a robot can do the job better, faster, and cheaper?
Almost every piece of electronics and machinery from phones, cars, street lights, vending machines, door locks, to entire buildings and businesses are now tied-in and controlled via the internet, which has evolved into The Net.
The Net is a virtual world, layered over and intertwined with our own. Machines known as NetDiver Rigs, allow users to project their consciousness into the Net and control virtual Avatars as if they were their own bodies. The world within the Net isn't bound by the laws of physics, but can be shaped and controlled through constructs and programs. A steel wall blocking your path? In reality it's simply a line of code, and with the right tools and know-how it's easy to re-write a couple lines of code.

>//:System.Hack is a sim-rpg set in a dystopian future. Take the role of a programmer-turned-hacker as they begin their criminal career. While hacking, enter a virtual world, delving the digital dungeons of cyberspace. Use the money you earn to upgrade your hardware and software, or possibly pay off some debts...

Features

  • You Career, Your Way: Start the game indentured to your sponsor company. Stay with the company and work your way up the ranks, earning perks & bonuses, while being sheltered under their protection. Complete special operations for the company, and help them grow in power! Or you can choose to buy-out your contract and go Freelance, allowing you to earn more money per job and live your life with no obligations. As a Freelancer you can launder money, rob banks, and pilfer valuable PayData for secure systems. Once you've banked some serious creds, you could even start your own company and hire other hackers to do the work for you!

  • Work Generator: In addition to story jobs and special jobs, players will take regular hacking jobs to earn money and experience. These regular hacking jobs are generated dynamically. You could work forever.

  • Open-Ended Character Growth: Software ratings and Skill ratings have no upper limit. The game uses formula based calculations instead of a fixed graph. There are no real limits in the virtual world.

  • Create Custom Programs: Control every aspect of your hacking software using an intuitive interface. Stack multiple subroutines in a single program for greater versatility, or add negative elements that make it easier to build. As your Programming skill increases you will be able to build more and more complex hacking software.

If you're expecting heavy IC resistance, slot extra Firewall chips. Upgrade your motherboard to gain more chip-slots, or dump a ton of creds to purchase hyper-efficient high end hardware.

  • Semi-Scaled Difficulty: As you grow in skill and power, the regular generated jobs will increase in difficulty in order to always provide a challenge, and the rewards required to fuel higher level growth. Story and special missions will have a static difficulty, which means you could either dominate... or get crushed. If you fail, you can always try again later.

Could have been great, but it's likely abandonware at this stage, and barring some modding virtuoso, this unfinished thing is the best it'll get.

I quite enjoy System Hack even though it's pretty simple in design. It reminds me of an old game I used to play called Neuromancer. The game does suffer from some instability issues and bugs but a quick reload later and you're back in the action. It's very heavy on the grind but every upgrade is worth the pain.

I've got an extensive library of hacking simulation games and enjoy them, this specific one is nice because it allows you to "work" on building up the rig, exp of your character, and operate a loader. I warn you it is a bit repetitive to get the exp up and the story needs work, but I've enjoyed the challenge to build the rig, maneuver through the system in a 1st person mode (kinda new), and enjoy the perspective of being inside a system and moving through as if I were a data packet.

System.Hack is a super original and entertaining game. You begin as a humble hacker, going on missions, and the features only expand after that. Although it's still in early access there's plenty of content. If you even have a passing interest in hacking or cyberpunk I'd recommend you give the game a chance! Also, the developer is very active in regards to both updating responding to the community. I can't wait to see the game on release!

I can't find myself recommending this game right now.

However, there is a /deep/ potential here. I absolutely love Shadowrun, and this oozes that cool Pre-Crash 2.0 Matrix action we've seen in earlier edition. This game is an excellent framework that I am excited to follow and see developed, however I can't really recommend it in its Early Access state.

I haven't really felt compelled to write a review for a game in a while, but this one really does deserve some attention. Before I sing this games praises, note that the game is still a bit buggy, but the developer is very active, and responds quickly when issues are posted in the bug reporting discussion.

So the game basically plays like a first-person game, kinda like running through cyberspace in shadowrun or a low-scale version of the oasis from ready player one. You move around in first person through networks, completing assigned tasks to earn money. You start out working for Ravencore, a company that saved you from a mega-corps hit on you, and have you hacking for them to pay back your debt. You'll be given a quota of money you need to bring in everyday, and by surpassing that quota, you earn a salery and promotions. The game is a bit grindy, especially at the beginning if you don't build your character right (If you build your character yourself, you NEED to have programs, hardware, or skills as your top pick, and you're probably fine having money be near the bottom.)

I've personally been going through the steam store for a couple of years now, looking for a game like this to fill that hole in my library I've had. I love hacking games, but want more of a game to simulate hacking, without requiring me to learn a programming language or a made-up one in the game, and that's exactly what this game does. As you go through the game, you slowly but naturally improve your skills, hardware, and even design your own programs. There's actually a decent bit of depth to designing programs, so much so that people can easily design their own combat-style based around brute force, stunlocking the enemy, or outright destroying their mind so they forget how to do anything.

Now up to the time of writing, I've been unable to play any of the game after leaving Ravencore, as I've encourtered a annoying bug both times (But the dev said he's currently addressing it, may fix this review if it is taken out in a new patch). Getting to the point where you can leave your company still takes awhile, and you'll enjoy yourself too. Even though there are only currently 4 kinds of missions, and there's really no variety in how the servers look, besides some having 4 levels instead of 3, the gameplay is really addicting and rewarding when you manage to complete that high level contract by the skin of your teeth. There may not be too much strategy involved once you figure out the mechanics, but you'll find you have to constantly upgrade your programs, gear, and even train your skills if you want to continue to be successful.

One final note, while I personally recommend this game and am anxiously awaiting the next patch, it isn't for everyone. Again, there is a lot of repetition in the missions, which I personally feel is appropriate, as I imagine that's how being a hacker is. Still, if you're like me and want to feel like a shadowrun decker, this is a must buy, especially with the frequency of updates.

After the first questionnaire I thought I'd be skulking around in shadows and hacking into companies afterhours or something like Vampires The Masquerade Bloodlines but for cyberpunk theme. Instead you are confined to your room and everything explorative is cyber-wise. This game needs more updates. Plus the special powers you use to "hack" are easily to forget how to use. Maybe a toggle-able tutorial or a consistant tutorial until you have say over 15,000 dollars. Also the randomized quest system should be overhauled to give more money, seems too grindy. But maybe that is because this game needs to develop more.

I am NOT recommending this game just yet, I will come back and try it properly when their is more features implemented.

So I don't usually write reviews, but I really like how this game is turning out. Starting off you play the part of a hacker who has landed himself in hot water and is applying for work at a company that provides job of the not so legal sort for hackers. They set you up with a bunker and a hacking rig, at a cost of course, and you take various jobs improving your skils.earning cash, to make programs upgrade your rig, and get out of your contract with the company. The gameplay might be a bit repetitive for some due to the need to grind your skills and level them up to take on progressively tougher systems. however new feature are planned to make it more diverse, and I dont mind the grind as long as the leveling is rewarding. there are alot of cool features like the program creation console where you can build custom programs to aid you in hacking the systems. There is also a set of perks you can earn and three different modes of game play to unlock. The graphics are nothing special but do the job of immersing you in the role of the virtual hacker. The developer is very active squashing bugs and adding new features. The game has a little bit of a learning curve but once you get the hang of it I think it very fun.

This game is a pretty sweet mix of hacking and rpg. Things start slowly, but when you get going it feels really rewarding. There's some bugs still, but that's to be expected in early access, and the developer is extremely active. Often able to get a fix pushed out within a few hours even. If you're looking for a fresh new take on a hacking game, this one is worth getting.

Even as an advocate of early access and in-dev titles in the past, I've recently been avoiding them almost entirely. Something about this game just made me curioius and I bought it on a whim after playing a decent amount of other hacking games.
Just keep in mind that early access means the very real possibility of bugs and crashes, unbalanced gameplay, and just the general "unfinished" feel. So you should expect this. That said, the dev on this project is EXTREMELY responsive to feedback and on top of any bugs reported. I have no question that he truly respects the opinions of the fanbase and honestly wants to make his game better. Every time I've posted a bug on the forum, it has been fixed in less than 24 hours!

OK, but what about the actual game?
-There's a good bit of repitition as you can expect with most hacking games, but in this case you are navigating systems in an FPS style, rather than typing into a console. That may turn off a lot of people right away as "totally not hacking".

-An RPG style upgrade system lets you get better at the things you want to focus on. If you like the combat, fighting more IC's will level you up. If you prefer to break passwords and spoof user accounts, your stealth rating will increase. Not an entirely new concept, but in a hacking game it hasn't been greatly explored so far.

-You have a bit of work to start understanding how the gameplay goes, and it can be frustrating and confusing. My advice is to read all the tutorial screens and absorb the most relevant info at the time. You can refer back anytime for whatever starts to confuse you.

- TL;DR version -
What this boils down to is just so;
-If you want to play a hacking game that isn't like most hacking games then definitely check it out.
-If the screenshots interest you and you aren't afraid of learning how to play a game while playing it, download it.
-If you want to support Indie devs who are here to make the best game they can, and not take your money and run, buy it.
BUT,
-If you don't like the idea of early access and want to play a finished game, don't buy it.
-If you're looking for the next Uplink, Hacknet, [your fav hack game here], dont't buy it.

Liking what I see so far. There's an active, responsive dev and a wonderful game as is. This creator has captured an elusive experience I've searched for since Shadowrun first came out, and before. Definitely a recommendation to all.

I bought this game to support the original author of one of my favorite mods for Shadowrun Returns, but I found myself thoroughly enjoying >//:System.Hack on its own merits. The gameplay just has a great “flow” to it and managed to be great fun even during my learning curve when all I knew was to run around and interact with random nodes, and even after I figured out what I was supposed to be doing it managed to keep that "fun factor".

However, probably one of the best features of >//:System.Hack is “Oracle” which allows you to code your own hacking programs, it’s powerful, extremely flexible, and just “feels” perfect for the setting.

Now, as an Early Release, the game still has a few bugs a couple of minor quibbles here and there, but I’ve yet to run across anything that was Gamebreaking or managed to dent my enjoyment of slicing through systems like a ghost or smashing ICE into oblivion. The fact that the dev is extremely responsive to both bug reports and feature requests is a REALLY nice change from the usual as well.

Overall this game really is a gem and I’d recommend it whole heartily to anyone that are fans of the cyberpunk genre as well as hacking games in general.

Since this game is early acccess, the review is about its current state. (However, so far the game got better and better with each new update!!)

When my characterI first logged into the net of >//:System.Hack I was just amazed how well this cyberspace worked for me. The game is also a lot of fun, accessing the systems and performing various tasks like cracking the access codes to a node via a real well-made and fun mini-game and 1:1 battles vs different intrusion countermeasure (IC) codes ranging from simple block programs to pretty difficult battle codes. So far I did only see a fraction of the IC variants, so I am eager to explore more of the net.

The game also has player stats in virtual combat and stealth, cryptology and programming. The latter is fun because it allows the player to create new programs for the character. For this an quite amazing script-like language is already in place.

The player-base is very active and seeing the development of the game first hand is a quite welcome experience. The developers are in close contact with the community and listen to the bug reports and suggestions. When writing this review I own this game less than a week, but there have already been a number of updates.

I fully recommend the game to anyone in love with cyberpunk/sci-fi hacking games and anyone who always wanted to see the matrix in first person.

The gameplay is not very intuitive so not doing what I did - ran headfirst into it - and read the tutorials is very much recommended. :)

This game has me in the same place Fallout put me the first time I played it, it sort of gets me angry and a tad frustrated but I refuse to quit because I want to see what's next. (the same goes for Giants: Citizen Kabuto as well, both of these I went into not knowing what to expect, got something I didn't know how to play and came out on the other side loving...)

The game is a bit grindy considering the cost for upgrades and your earnings at the start of it all but the better you get at the game the faster you'll earn money as well so....

One big warning is that pressing the delete button means you'll leave the mission you're on - which I noted due to being a bit too fast with adding the password and wondered if you could delete the number... (adding a "are you sure you want to leave?" confirmation screen would be a good idea I think)

Graphics and sound, very nice on both, the spinning things you have to be close to to do the contract do get a tad annoying, I personally focus as much as I can on the ground but I do suspect it may cause nausea with some people. (having it go stationary when you're close or allowing the text menues to follow you around would fix that)

All in all I like it a lot and will continue my way towards the end through means of ultimate suckage...

P.S. the reason I deleted my old review rather than edited it is that I apparently had clicked the "recieved for free" and I didn't, I bought the game and I couldn't change that. D.S.

Game looks great and seems to play great. Had a small problem when setting my resolution higher, had to quit game and come back in.

Overall the net hacking is pretty amazing. Feels like you are doing Shadowrun decking in first person. The tutorials are only pages to read, so that isn't as good as the game teaching how to play. Game doesn't look like it will be that easy either.

Hacking comes down to running across the grids, trying to find the proper nodes to access and defeating ICE in multiple ways without getting knocked out yourself. So far no flaws in game besides the beginning part I talked about.

Would recommend to fans of Hacking games, Shadowrun, the simple roguelike Decker, and especially the Old Genesis Shadowrun.
