What I consider to be immersion breaking level bad gaming plot device ruined it for me at the beginning.
This is the first crpg i've played that truly felt like OG Fallout. Incredibly good.
I was sent by the Great Warlock of the East, and it was worth every minute of it.
Podchodziłem do tego kilka razy ale koniec. Odpadam.
Co za gówno. Jaka bieda. Jak to źle wygląda, nijaka rozgrywka, brak klimatu. A jaka walka! Przykład: walka z pająkiem. Chybienie, koniec tury, chybienie, koniec tury, chybienie, koniec tury... I tak z 5 minut...
Odradzam.
ATOM and Trudograd are great throwbacks to the OG isometric Fallout RPGs. The developers were clearly influenced and the these are totally worth your time if you're into that stuff. I cannot reccomend them highly enough. It's alternate Eastern bloc Fallout 2.
ATOM RPG is more of a visual novel than a game. It's the type of game where you should talk to every NPC because they all have much to say about the current state of affairs.
The combat is bad.
The itemization is also bad.
The crafting is abysmal.
However, the story is good. So, if you're more interested in a good story with game elements than playing an action game, this is decent.
If you enjoy old school fallouts and want a modern take this is the game for you. Even if you dont like Fallout its a solid RPG!
This is a fantastic Indy modernised version of the early fallout games.
It plays really well with enough fun characters and situations to interact with feel like a fallout title.
The twist is it's set in post apocalyptic USSR.
The combat reminds me of turn based combat sims like X-com.
It's ridiculously cheap to buy and one of the best value games I've bought in a while.
Huge props to the team.
IF you like old isometric turn based Fallout, you will fell at home here. The game is far from being perfect but its fun and the slavic touch all over the place makes it good.
This game is 1:1 a straight rip (although Russian themed) of Fallout 1 & 2. Seriously, the mechanics, some quests, design is all Fallout with a twist. No.
I love and am a big fan of Fallout, being inspired by another series is fine but doing 1:1 with said series? No, no. No.
For the doubters, watch this; https://youtu.be/eur5Kjv38o8
I love this game, I wish I had contributed to the Gofundme so it was bigger but its perfect.
great game
Maybe reels has blown out my dopamine receptors but I found this game really boring. I spent most of my time with the game talking with npcs rather then fight or scavenging etc
Coming from someone who really enjoys stalker, fallout, metro etc, I can only recommend this game if you know you like turn based rpgs
I wanted to hate this game. Everything is a little clunky and takes a little longer than it should, it's full of stuff that when translated into English from Russian doesn't make a ton of sense, and it is not shy about putting you into no-win situations.
But I just can't help but love this game. Winning certain fights feels incredibly rewarding, the characters are so wacky and unique, and above all, it's too loyal to Fallout where almost every "Fallout-like" has not been. Very early in the game I ran into a caravaner with an M16, some armor, a sabre and a ton of expensive gear, including timed explosives. I sold him all my stuff to buy the timed explosives, blew him and his guards up even though I was way too weak to fight them fair, and caught the windfall of a lifetime. I spent the rest of the game ducking head headhunters, but too few games let you tell your own story using the game world anymore, and ATOM RPG is one of them.
Atom RPG Review by UHDk1ng: A Must-Play for Military RPG and Post-Apocalyptic Fans (4.5 out of 5 stars)
As a huge fan of military RPGs and Eastern European developer games, I highly recommend Atom RPG to anyone who enjoys titles similar to the Stalker series but with the depth and complexity of a true role-playing game. Fans of Fallout and Wasteland will especially appreciate the post-nuclear atmosphere, strategic combat, and deep character progression in Atom RPG. Carefully designed and developed items in the game including all the famous modern guns, good quests and nice storyline.
One of the best features of the game is its cross-platform availability. It’s not only playable on PC, but also on Android (phones and tablets) and iOS (iPhones and iPads), making it extremely accessible. The game works seamlessly on handheld devices like the Steam Deck, Asus ROG Ally, and other handhelds from MSI and Lenovo, offering a great on-the-go experience. Start playing game on PC and finish it while playing on the iPhone while waiting for your pizza.
I’m also a big fan of the series and have personally spoken with the developers, who are from Ukraine, Poland, the UK, and the USA. The developers are vocal in their support for Ukraine, which adds even more meaning to the game for me. I’ve purchased Atom RPG and Atom Trudograd, along with the supporter packs, across all platforms—PC, iOS, Android—and on all gaming clients, including Steam, GOG, and Epic Games. I highly encourage others to support this amazing team and their work.
Atom Trudograd, the sequel, enhances the overall experience and completes this fantastic RPG universe, providing even more engaging content for players.
I’m giving Atom RPG a 4.5 out of 5 stars or 9 out of 10, with only minor critiques such as the occasional bug or UI quirks. Still, the game’s rich lore, gripping quests, and tactical gameplay make it a standout title.
I’ll be doing a full walkthrough of Atom RPG with tips, tricks, and strategies on my official YouTube channel, UHDk1ng (UHDking), where I’ll also benchmark the game in various resolutions, including 1080p, 2K, 4K, 5K, 6K, 7K, 8K, 10K, 12K, and 16K UHD (15360 x 8640 pixels) video resolutions on all kind of video cards, processors, PC systems or handheld devices including Andorid and iOS. Be sure to check out my channel at UHDk1ng.com for in-depth guides and gameplay footage in 8K UHD video resolution (7680 x 4320 pixels).
For fans of Fallout, Wasteland, or any post-apocalyptic RPG, Atom RPG is a must-play. With its cross-platform support, the addition of Atom Trudograd, and the passion of its developers, this game offers an unforgettable experience! If you a fan of Atom RPG series - check out my UHDk1ng.com or UHDking YouTube channel for more great videos that you don`t want to miss and sometimes I give away a licensed game for free.
Perfect gameplay, interesting story. I've got a lot of fun playing this game. Hope to see modes or extensions soon
If you enjoyed Fallout 2, you'll enjoy this
Plenty of morally grey choices, choices matter, come prepared and be smart or you're gonna get stuck and beaten down but when you overcome and succeed due to being clever, you feel smug.
Fallout 1 but it's Soviet Union
TL;DR: For people who want to play original Fallout-style games
Closest in spirit to the original Fallout 1/2 that I've seen to date. Closer than UnderRail, or even Wasteland. The progression feels very natural—you start in one town, get a mission in the next, but when you reach it, you discover missions in two other towns. You also need to go back to the first town for rewards, etc. This makes the map’s growth feel very organic and well-paced.
NPCs and Side Quests: The towns are packed with NPCs, each with a backstory, and many of them offer side quests. Very Fallout-esque, which is great for anyone who loves the deep NPC interactions and lore of the classic Fallout games.
Some minor improvements I would suggest:
Item List: You can’t filter, only sort. This is something they could have learned from games like UnderRail.
World/Graphics: The world feels a bit bland compared to Fallout. Where Fallout had Radscorpions, Gekkos, and two-headed Brahmin, here you have regular rats, wolves, and cows. Where in Fallout, you had humans, ghouls, and super mutants. In ATOM you have humans, humans... and mutants? (who are basically also human)
Combat Knock-Downs: The knock-down mechanic is very overpowered. One knock-down from a monster can cost you your life. And multiple monsters can easily crit you to the ground, even if you already have strong armor and they wouldn't be able to hurt you standing up.
World Map Travel: Moving on the world map is painfully slow. You can have more encounters and speed up the in-game time, but please, don’t waste my real-life time. (I ended up using cheats for this because it was unbearably slow)
Weapons and Crafting:
Weapons Progression: In Fallout, damage started at 5-7 and ended at 100+. Here, it starts the same but barely reaches 15-25 damage even in the very late game.
Crafting: Weapons crafting is fun and challenging, but finding the resources and recipes is tough. By the time you can craft something decent, you've probably already found better weapons. I wish the crafted items were worth the effort.
Overall:
Despite the minor drawbacks mentioned above, this is a really fun and engaging game with an original story.
That does an excellent job of keeping the Fallout tradition alive.
No normal cover mechanics or crouch but pretty good for the price so far.
Shot a bunch of commies dead, good game!
Well thought-out classic turn-based RPG with plenty of dark but humorous themes
This game is fun and torture at the same time. Do not listen to all the negative reviews if you like turn based games, fallout type game and some soulslike difficulty give this game a try you won't be mad. Thanks DEVS for making this amazing game.
Classic. But it makes my laptop lava hot for some reason.
falout
Passion project. By gamers for gamers.
Similar and very much reminiscent of Fallout 1 and 2, this game follows the original Fallouts' bleak tone and disposition. You're wandering a visually gritty Russian post-apocalyptic wasteland, which makes it extra fun to play. It's more of an adventure RPG than a tactical game, since combat tactics consists mostly of dishing it out until someone falls dead. A few nice mods available too, and did I mention you're wandering a Russian post-apocalyptic wasteland? So yeah, I'd recommended it.
The game took all the wrong cues from the classic fallout games and just ran with them. Do you love running around in circles hoping for certain random encounters? Do you love collecting critter remains to sell them in hopes of having enough equipment to start actually playing the game? Then look no further than Russian Wish.com fallout!
Most of the "advice" found online revolves around pickpocketing traders to get yourself started. It is very unfortunate that the game is as bad as it is as there are few games in this specific category.
I want to like this game. It's a solid enough CRPG that can be pretty brutal at times. Gameplay mechanics make sense (but design choices are a different matter, see below), visuals are fine, sounds work well. Lots of dialog to experience in the game.
But unfortunately, there are 3 major things that hold this game back from me enjoying it.
1: Crits and luck Just as you can crit, so can the enemy. You can be in a good position and suddenly the enemy gets a crit or 2 on you, and you can go from full health to dead immediately. Crits should do more damage, but never to the point of 1-shotting characters. Especially in the early game, which leads to the next point. There's a lot of reliance on luck to the point that save-scumming and reloading often are seemingly encouraged. Sure, I'm guilty of save-scumming, but I don't like to do it often. The way this game is with it's luck-based scenarios (including getting into world combat scenarios you can't win), it often overshadowed the fun parts to be had.
2: Early game annoyance. The beginning of this game is brutal. Don't get me started on if you don't go in with a good build to help mitigate that pain. Unless you know exactly what you are doing in this game, or look up guides, you're gonna have a bad time, and reload a lot.
3: general lack of Quality of Life. There a lot of design decisions in this game which I found to just annoy me to no end other games do. I get the is supposed to be rough, but that doesn't mean the player himself needs to wrestle with the UI constantly to do basic things. A big one is lack of marking items as "junk" to get it out of my main inventory. I hate scrolling through endless sellables in my inventory to find the thing i actually want. I found the low carry capacity annoying as well, even with decent strength. Really, "inventory juggling" was one of my biggest pet peeves.
I reiterate this isn't a bad game, per-se. There is love and effort put into this game. but its so god awful "inconvenient" to play that I just can't continue anymore. And I even installed a mod that gave quite a few quality of life improvements to the game, and it was still annoying (shout to Neutron, highly recommend it even if you disable all the gameplay changes it includes)
I had fun watching the ragdolls after blowing me and my companions up with bombs or using the Boomfist on Shadows in Dead City , other than that, 8/10, great game if you're a fan of the first 2 Fallouts.
P.S: The Achievements are really annoying to get, tho.
Not enough autosaves, once I lose enough progress Ill just never play the game again. especially a game as slow as this.
Extremely boring, absolute waste of money, should have refunded this as its just an unfair boring game.
Will ignore all future games from these.
Holy shit this is boring..
This game could be really good, but it is horribly unbalanced... at least at the beginning. I don't think I'm some mad expert at tactics games or anything, but this game feels extraordinarily difficult at the beginning for anyone. You get bottle necked at choke points where the only way through is specific specs, or save scumming until the RNG is on your side. Even getting this at only 14 dollars, I still regret buying it. It has just enough style and promise to lure you in past the two hour mark and then fails to deliver. If I have greatly misunderstood this game, and its actually a fantastic hidden gem, maybe someone can let me know.
EDIT: I gave it another try with a different build... managed to accomplish and discover some different things... BUT I still stand by my previous thoughts. The Devs were nice enough to reach out, encouraging me to tap into the community for ideas for builds and whatnot. However, after an initial fast response to the original review, did not so readily answer my follow-ups where I mentioned more specific examples of the issues I listed above. "All difficult spots may be beaten by simply doing them later," doesn't exactly explain away the range of difficulty in RNG of the random encounters... Maybe things might be adjusted in the future, but for now, I would recommend that people wait or look elsewhere.
Great game. For those who like Jagged alliance and Fallout games
Is fun can be hard is good game strong suggest
I would recommend this game, however it does have some issues. I think the main one for me right now is I have played for 47 hours, and I don't know if it's because the tutorial is not very well done or because I wasn't paying enough attention (I am normally obsessive over reading every single piece of dialogue) - but I only just found the ability tree after playing for so long. I basically played the game on super hard mode with no perks and I do think that the tutorial or maybe the translation is the problem, as there are quite a few mistakes when reading through the game. I was thinking the game was ridiculously hard, when in my opinion I just hadn't been informed properly of this essential part of the game.
There are also some annoying QOL issues such as seeing what does and doesn't have loot in it being a pointless time-consuming addition. The alt key highlights what containers contain items - but only after you've already searched them. This means in some rooms there can be 30 containers you have to go through where more than half might have nothing in them, but you still have to check cause they might have a really good new piece of armour. The game has multiple small issues like this which could have been fixed so easily, making for a much more streamlined experience.
However, the game is still good in spite of these problems. If you like Fallout 1 and 2 you'll love this game, and despite it never reaching their heights, I'd say it's still very much worth playing if you long for that forgotten style of CRPG. It's the kind of game that makes me very excited to try the Expansion, and for further sequels to refine the formula, when ATOM Team have done this well on their first try :).
P.S. If you buy this game please look up some of the mods that add QOL improvements. I have played up to this point without them, but really wish I'd downloaded them earlier.
EDIT: The second half of this game is nowhere near as good as the first half - the Dead City in particular is a complete boring slog, with many decisions that defy explanation and only serve to make the game much much much more irritating to the point where, in the last ten hours, I was forcing myself to play and beat the game just because I'd already spent so much time on it. Therefore my thoughts on the game are a lot more mixed now. I almost certainly won't replay it, and now only recommend it for those who have already played Fallout 1 and 2 to death. The recommendation also comes under the proviso to use a walkthrough, along with the QOL mods I wish I had used.
Fallout 2 fan says "I'm happy again."
I arrived at bunker 317 at level 4 and had a hard time getting out of it. I increased my strength to 10 with everything I had and finally got out. I was just dying and reloading for about 2 hours. Then when I arrived back in the wilderness, I was picked up by slave traders and died again. After that, no more reloading but uninstalling. For me it was a frustrating gaming experience. Fallout 1 & 2 was a lot more fun.
Step 1: Fallout 2 and Disco Elysium meet at a bar in Cyprus one humid night. One loves whiskey and the other loves vodka. They mix drinks (horrible idea) and this is just enough to get the both of them very slightly buzzed, because they're built different.
Step 2: One game says to the other "Ungh ungh?" and the other game is all like "Yeeeeeee." They find a motel and fuck that bed up.
Step 3: One of the two games (it will be a 50/50 chance which one ends up doing this) is at the liquor store, and runs to the bathroom, and shits out the Elephant's Foot from Chernobyl.
Step 4: The two games are all like "Yoooo sick" and they become the dopest parents ever.
Step 4.5: They're good parents but have one quirk, which is having the Elephant's Foot occasionally sit in front of a monitor that shows sentences in various Eastern European languages being fed directly into Google Translate. This goes on until the Elephant's Foot turns 30.
Step 5: ?
Step 6: Femur Breaker
Step 7: ??????
Step 82: Atom RPG s̷͚̲̼̱̳͈̊͂l̸̰̰͉͎͇̗͚̗̙̬̱̯̪͓͚̑́̽́́͒̆͒̿̀̎̽́ͅͅi̸̻̰̓̅̈̾̄͑t̸̡̟̣͙̹̩̖͇̫̤͕͓͒̈̃͛̒̓̓̀̉͒̐̈́͠͝ĥ̵̬̯́͑̈́͊̔̈̏̿͝ḛ̸̛̬͙̲̜͎̙͛̑͗̏̿̾̇̽̊́̐̈́̈́͒͒͝r̶̢̧̪̲̫̳̪̩̳̳̪̜̫̘̳͛̋͊͜ͅs̵͈͔̤̖̭͖̰̗̱̲͉̐̀̆̒̓̎́̚̚͘͜͝ͅ ̴̛̳̞͇̭̥͖̜̫̣͎̲͑͒̑̄̆̅̈́͐̀̋̄̎̚͜͠ò̸̡̥͚͙͍̦̗͇̼͔̝̩͔́͂͐́́̿̈́̐̆u̴̧̡̮̯͕̱̹͕̪̘͍̰͈̼̺͓͒́͋͝t̸͉͓̣̯̜̩͈͕̞̙͍̗̘͌͂̍̐̒̍̈̑̾̇͑̂͠͠ ̴̡͓͖̭͇̙̼͈̬͇̥̥̼̻͍̎̕o̸̼͉͈̤̖͇̳̟͎͑̽͛̔͗̂͂̚͘͝f̵̨̹̩̙̼͎̺̪̱͉̈́̑̓̿̀̐͘ ̵̢̺̮̗̝̾͆̊͊̓̋̈̀̂̏̿̄͘ẗ̵̢̥̟̣͚̬̘̰̮́͆̃̋̒̉̐͐͆̄̏͂͜͜͠͝͝ͅh̷͓̳̲̲̼͖̮̞̮͖̭͎́̓͒̅̚͝͝ę̷͙̮͙̒̉̇̈́̃͂̈́̿̇͆̓̏͊̽̋̃̔ ̷̤̻̫̩̓̈͛̍̽̀̇̀̈́̍̈́̆ͅa̷̤̩̹͍̰͊̈́̈́̾̀͑͂̓̉̒̆̑̑̌̑̂̚͜ṡ̴̨̧̢̺͎̝͈̘̹̱͚̩̫̲̞̊̇͋́͆́̄͊̀̄̕̕͝ḩ̵̛̼̼̦͚͚̞̈́̍̓̈́͑e̴̢̜̦̙͋ś̴̢̧̛̝͔͉͓̰̥̟͍̬͓̞̤̭͐̂̓͆̂̽̇̉͊̇̇̚
Step 999: Profit? I sure hope they did, I loved the game and I want more games from AtomTeam. Bravo!
Hiermit wird eine Empfehlung ausgesprochen!
a friend recomended this to me some time ago, finally bought it and very happy with this purchase, if the early fallouts and the stalker series had a baby this would be the result, dont make the mistake i did, i was under the impression this was a turn based game which i wont touch however its the combat thats turn based, most of it is walking around freely, i like the world map, theres enough locations and random encounters to keep me playing
awesome shyt.
Fallout 3 from a better timeline.
I like how Bethesda just made a sandbox out of fallout, making fallout poplar, that in turn made Isometric game poplar enough that indie devs realized "hey this is a cheaper and better way to make RPGs then the Bethesda way!" And thus even if we will never see a true successor of fallout, we getting these spiritual successors.
As for the game, Game-play is formulaic due to CRPGS are old so the best way has been found, story are where these games are at; this game is good but there are better games out there. Personally it is worth throwing money at these games, to get this going in hopes that someone will find a guy who knows how to write.
