I am 32 years old.
My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old.
When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing.
Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side.
With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay.
After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like.
Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends.
Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together.
Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that.
Thank you.
I don't know why I own this
I played it for like 5 minutes then just left it running for a while
The game is completely terrible and the 27 cents I paid for it was way too much. Also apparently most the assets (If not the whole game) is just stolen.
Definitely don't buy
Star Fight is yet another construction kit template copy+paste from serial Russian shovelware pushers, Volens Nolens Games. These guys do nothing but copy premade game templates and game tutorials, fill out a few things/stamp out basic levels using the construction kit templates, slap on an asset flipped set of sprites/assets, and dump them on Steam and into cheap nasty shovelware game bundles as cash grabs. Trying to get paid for someone else's game templates, assets... at best, this is shovelware, at worst, it's a scam/cash grab.
This time they've ripped off a basic 2D arcade bullet hell/shoot 'em up Unity template, with some really poor quality assets dumped on it.. it's obviously garbage, very lazy shovelware... in fact the game splashscreen says this was made by "Take7" or something, so it's entirely possible they stole the entire game off someone else. There's no credits to confirm or deny this, of course, and the Russians behind Volens Nolens take steps to try hide their identity, but not enough, as we can clearly see the sockpuppet accounts and other asset flipper accounts they're associated with, like Enoops.
Volens Nolens Games/Enoops have shown a repeat pattern of unethically dumping other people's work onto Steam as a cheap, nasty cash grab, through this account or through closely linked/alt accounts. Here's some examples so you can see for yourself:
- "Deadly Threat" = POLYGON Dungeons - Low Poly 3D Art by Synty developed by Synty Studios
- "Book of Shadows" = Polygon Western - Low Poly 3D Art Pack developed by Synty Studios
- "Little Adventure" = AB1 - Fantasy Platformer bundle developed by Yoyogames
- "Little Adventure 2" = AB1 - Fantasy Platformer bundle developed by Yoyogames
[*] "Mighty Vikings" = Polygon Vikings Pack developed by Synty Games
Taking this shovelware seriously as if it was a genuine attempt to make a game, it doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard.
A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result.
While there are options to change the resolution for the game, all this does is scale up the simplistic 2D art assets used to make the game, which makes little or no difference to the graphics quality. Without any other substantial graphics tweaks, it's not possible for gamers to improve the lacklustre 2D visuals.
The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers.
These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game.
Reviewing SteamDB to check how popular this game was with players reveals a surprise... there's a very healthy spike in player counts for the game. But this only appears around the same time that trading cards were applied to the game... so this is just card idlers getting their cards and moving on. A closer look at the numbers shows the game just has a couple of players every week running up the game and idling it for cards, then deleting it. We must ask how it benefits gamers for there to be so many games like this, with no merit as a serious game, that only generate sales from people idling and selling the trading cards.
It's also important to note the "developer" here has connections to a number of shady Russian asset flippers and review manipulators who show an organised pattern to scam and defraud gamers with fake reviews and asset flipping the work of others for profit. While reviews are about the games, gamers should be informed when developers act unethically. Whether these connections are the same developer using multiple accounts, or just working closely with other unethical developers, gamers should be warned about the harm to gamers by this developer and their associates. Buying games from unethical developers puts your money at risk.
Star Fight has the laughable price of around $4 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the unethical nature of the developer. Remember that if you buy a game from an unethical developer, you're putting your money at risk.
👎🏻
Always after 10-20 min, player's ship stuck somewhere out of display
Trash
the only good thing about the game is music.
Watching paint dry is more entertaining than this game.
the only good thing about the game is music.
just play for 10-15 min and then its get boring. watching the wall is more entertaining
i fight star
In the game you are given a choice of three fighters and three modes, Deathmatch, Clash of the Titans, and Team Deathmatch. Each fighter does the exact same thing except they look different, whereas the modes are different. However, you're still on your own in Team Deathmatch, so it's poorly worded. Even when you pause the game, your health still goes down and after a while, once you play again, you instantly lose.
One of the issues I've found whiile playing is that you immediately start the game without any warning or time to prepare, usually leading to missing one fifth of your health, fortunately your health is based around a shield, every enemy you defeat your shield recharges, once you've lost your shield your health in the bottom right goes down, forcing you to defeat an enemy or lose.
Controls are locked in default secondary mode. Even when i change the controls they default back. sound always starts at full volume.
