You are the last pilot on Earth, tasked with slowing down the invasion and giving survivors enough time to escape. If you can hold back the waves long enough, you may have a shot at destroying the massive mothership and saving the Earth.
Oblivion’s Edge is an arcade and bullet hell inspired twin stick shooter with multiple game modes and difficulty levels.

Our solar system has been invaded by a mysterious and powerful alien army. Any attempt at fighting back has failed. We lost contact with the fleet, they are assumed to be destroyed. Now the battle has come to Earth. Our resources have dwindled; our defenses are destroyed. Staging an assault is impossible. Our only chance for survival is you, Earth’s last pilot.
Survival:
You are the last pilot in the last ship standing between Earth and invading alien army. Your job is to destroy the approaching waves of enemies so escape pods can leave Earth’s orbit. You will have to withstand not only the enemy drones, fighters and blockade runners but also offensive satellites and the massive almost indestructible mothership.
Defend:
The last orbiting defensive satellite has been damaged. Earth has sent a bot to fix it, but it’s up to you to keep the enemy away until its repaired. This time you’re not alone, you’ve got gun turrets to help keep the satellite safe. If the satellite is lost, it’s game over, for you and for Earth.
Minefield:
The enemy has found a way to disable your primary weapons leaving you with only bombs, mines and flares to destroy the enemy. How long can you last?
Classic:
Defend against waves of increasingly fast enemies heading straight towards the Earth. If too many get past then it's game over.

I am 32 years old.
My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old.
When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing.
Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side.
With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay.
After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like.
Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends.
Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together.
Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that.

This is a really fun shooter! It's not as bullet-hellish as some that I own, but the enemies are smart and you really have to dodge and weave and come at them at odd angles and whatnot. There's a nice variety of enemies and a massive variety of weapons to pick up and play with. There are also a few different game modes and levels of difficulty suited to your ability. I honestly couldn't expect much more from this game.

Thoroughly disappointed to find out that this is terrible. Your ship moves slowly and clumsily, enemy weapons frequently have better range than yours so you'll be shot from off-screen, there's almost no visual feedback when you get hit and what little there is - like a brief flash and a tiny, decreasing meter along the bottom of your ship - is really difficult to discern and notice amongst the obnoxious amounts of neons, reds, oranges and bloom. Consequently it's hard to work out what's actually hitting you and from what direction, so suddenly dying because you didn't notice how low your green bar was and failed to spot an off-screen enemy lining up a perfect shot happens far too often for my liking. There are so many twin-stick shooters on Steam that are far better than Oblivion's Edge, so I really can't recommend it, not even at sale price for fans of the genre.
Also this game absolutely refused to work properly with a controller plugged in; neither love nor money would make it shoot down, the ship was constantly rotating left, and I honestly didn't care enough to bother looking up a fix beyond "unplug controller".

This game is an INSANE amount of fun! It brings me back to my days of pumping quarter after quarter into machines in the arcade, except with MUCH better graphics. The four different game modes are challenging, especially Minefield mode, where you don't have any offensive weaponry at all and must rely on your defensive armaments to take out your foes. Survival is probably one of the more difficult ones; Classic is more like Galaga/Galaxian/Space Invaders where you can't let the aliens get past you (since you're the last line of defense). Defend is more like a Tower Defense-style mode, where you have to keep your satellites safe for a set time period (thankfully there are turrets to help out).
I already mentioned the better graphics; I think that the artwork on this game is really good. Sound effects are pretty good as well, although unlike the previous reviewer, I didn't have an issue with the music. I thought it fit pretty well. Finally, I would highly recommend using an Xbox controller to play this game; controls are much more fluid.
I HIGHLY recommend this game, especially if you love 1) twin-stick space shooters, and 2) a challenge!!
I am a fan of twin stick shooters and space shooters so I had to give this a try. Overall I am really enjoying this game. Its fast paced action provides a challenge. I also like the variety provided by the four different modes of gameplay. The mine mode is unlike anything else I've played. I also liked the art style. The music was good as well, though I felt the tempo was a little to slow for the game. It felt heavy. I was not a fan of the keyboard controls on this game, but for the most part, I don't like keyboard controls, so that may just be my bias coming through. The Xbox controller worked flawlessly.
This is a reccommend for anyone who is a fan of twin stick or space shooters.
