This game is pretty fun despite the fact I am not the intended audience. I bought this game because it has johnn cruelty in it, but honestly the gameplay is pretty good. Def buy on sale
This is a game 15 year old me would have loved to play back in 1998.
funny thermobaric artillery commits neuron activation
Brigador is a really awesome game and a must have for any mech fans out there.
This game is absolutely packed with content, there are many different mechs for you to pilot (and many different characters to choose from) and the customization for the mechs is quite extensive. The story is fairly interesting and there is a goodly amount of campaign levels, other levels that can be unlocked, and several game modes.
It's definitely a ton of fun stomping around and destroying buildings, killing enemies, etc. If you want to pilot a mech and just be an unstoppable killing machine, this is it. The level of destruction that you can create is incredible and something that will keep you coming back for more if you really like to create and see a lot of in game blood & destruction.
Brigador is something special and I'm really looking forward to the sequel. However, be warned that it can be difficult at times and the controls can be kind of janky and take some getting used to.
Besides that, I highly recommend this game, and I encourage anyone who considers themselves to be true mech fans to pick this little treasure up on sale and give it a spin.
Plays pretty well & looks great on Steam Deck.
Stellar fucking game, absolute hidden gem. Heavily recommend.
Twin stick city destroyer simulator. A great indie mech title with an awesome soundtrack and uniquely meaty story. The tone and mood is perfect, and the gameplay is a wonderful flow once you get a feel for it.
awesome art and gameplay
Great game so far. Reminds me a bit of old games like Future Cop LAPD. Difficult but pretty fair and skill-based once you get used to the controls (highly recommend changing from the default control scheme from absolute to relative). Lots of fun blowing stuff up. You are playing as the bad guys, the enemy factions might not be great but the player characters and the company they work for are probably even worse. Freat lore and artstyle. Definite recommend.
Betray your home planet in this hypercapitalist top-down shooter where the lives of civilians are worth a rounding error on your paycheck. There's a lot of variety and freedom for players, and you're encouraged to experiment to figure out the best way to commit war crimes. Easy to pick up for a mission or three, there's a surprising amount of depth in both gameplay and worldbuilding, so long as you're willing to meet the game on its own terms.
Insane
Mediocre at best. Absolutely not worth full price. Glad I got this on sale.
It's fun for a bit but very repetitive and feels like it's missing something to bring it all together. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it's missing some cohesion in its makeup.
Brigador
I get a pay raise for blowing up a fuel depot, extra if I blow up the nearby gas station belonging to old man Jenkins
It's pretty good
stompy robots, killer soundtrack, fun gameplay, it has everything
this game is a good game if you like vehicles and blowing up things
"man I wish I had fifty bucks"
The humble 1hp civilian:
A strange and amazing game, it delivers what the type of gameplay it promises. A stellar example of a top-down shooter designed in such a way that the player is free to approximate the problem any way they see fit. Expect frequent explosions and stylish music.
Outstanding ultraviolence.
GREAT
Everything go BOOM. 10/10
Stunning visual
Explosion
Mech, tank, and anti-gravity vehicle
Lost of weapons to play around with
And man from volta
What more could you want, really?
When the SNC representative was asked how much is human life worth they pondered for a while and then answered "Fifty bucks. Do you take cash or prefer cheque?"
A perfect union of real-time mech (and tank) combat, destruction and synth music packaged into a war crime simulator.
really fun gameplay loop, worth learning the controls to be able to play this game
Quick review: 3
### Metric ###
1- Garbage. :(
2- Did not fulfill the purpose.
3 - Ok, fulfilled the purpose.
4 - A good game!
5 - Just play and be happy. :)
Amazing soundtrack paired with good mech combat
8.5/10 So far!
WHY? --> Brigador is GREAT, but has MAJOR flaws! But if you understand them, it's great!
-- The campaign is a very slow tutorial for 2 hours, then gets fun.
*I've apparently only played 4.6 hours, but it feels like I've played 10… in a bad way, as the first 2 hours felt looong.
-- The Lore is VERY NECESSARY to enjoy the mission outlines, and setting as it provides very necessary context for hidden meanings. Most text is very cumbersome, boring, and dry as heck without it.
-- Lore is hidden in Home-->Acquisitions-->Lore, and is not automatically unlocked in-line with the campaign.
++ The Lore is great if you buy it, in-game money is easy to earn, buy it.
-- The "contract" Lore is too dry, technical in a bad way, hard to read, and mostly soulless. Skip unlocking it entirely. It should not be at the top of the lore section.
- The humor / atmosphere is often too dry in mission briefings 80% meh, 20% awesome
-- Menu navigation feels cumbersome for a while.
++ The weapons have a lot of variety.
+ Combing different weapons plays very differently.
++ The selectable vehicle types move very differently, thus play very differently.
++ The difficulty is dynamic.
+ If you are "screwed" on low health, you simply play more strategically, the low-health tension is great.
++ Enemy variety
--/++ The controls are weird. The driving controls can be EASILY toggled between "Absolute" and "Relative" in the "Game settings" menu. BUUUT you first have to find them and know where they are… They should have put it at the top of this menu.
- 4k resolution is not natively supported. It requires a very simple tweak. This should be mentioned in the "Display settings" menu.
- Controllers kind of suck… This game is meant for keyboard and mouse. A controller is usable, but not with tank controls on an analogue stick, it feels very bad. "Absolute" driving mode makes a controller usable, but makes driving strange. Forwards and backwards should possibly be controller via trigger, or button, or combo, or tap vs tap-vs-hold mechanism.
- Aiming at enemies that are flying, or buildings that are above the ground can be hard. There is no highlighting, or aim-assist. Because of the isometric view of this game, this is a problem. It gets better with experience, but doesn't feel entirely intentional.
- "Auto-fire" is not explained via a tooltip, or example, or tutorial in the controls. There is a binding for it. It turns out it's only for specific weapons I do not know of yet.
+ The sound / music is great. I'd give it a ++ if I could appreciate music like most people.
- Weapon aiming arcs fade. This looks pretty, but you do not know where things will land, having glowing markers on the ground for each shot would be great. This is likely semi-intentional as it creates a learning curve. BUUUT some weapons just have terrible arcs… Right now I can't use smoke grenades well and it bothers me.
- Smoke grenades MIGHT (I need to play more) simply be badly implemented, more hassle than they are worth.
* I bought this game on sale for $16 AU with the audiobook, I'm cheap as, and it seems good value to me.
Terrible support for controller; the game was obviously not designed to be played with one. If a game is advertised as a "Twin Stick Shooter", it should have adequate controller support (this is just common sense). Not only is the deadzone detection way off in the game (lol their fix is that you should have to go into the json file and change the lines of code yourself, this barely helps as the turn speed is still way too slow compared to mouse and keyboard), but the developers also didn't bother to make separate prompts/instructions for the controller when showing hints/how to play (you shouldn't have to look up what the equivalents are in the keyboard and mouse settings while you're playing).
It's great!
Great Leader is dead. Solo Nobre must fall.
World of War Crimes
Found this gem through "MandaloreGaming" on youtube. Just go watch his review for a proper breakdown of the game. All I'll say is the devs nailed it.
A perfect synergy of gameplay, visuals, music, and vibes. Solo Nobre must fall.
Kill everything, even the environment.
Everything explodes/10
Buy Brigador. Make Killers happen NOW.
Acquire Brigador
Fun game, I fucking love warcrimes.
Always a fun game to come back to every now and again.
Do YOU like getting bonus points for stomping on civilians and their homes?
Do YOU like badass synth music that you can relax and stomp on civilians to?
Do YOU like earning money by stomping on civillians?
Have I made my point clear?
Theres ALOT of collatoral damage and yes, you get extra points for it
9/10 wouldnt let me bang the mech
Music slaps. Lore is surprisingly abundant for what it offers. But the weapons and vehicle selection are top notch. Easily 11/10 for having a Killdozer.
An incredibly indepth mech and similar sci-fi vehicle game. It uses the isometric perspective well, but it can look like a twin-stick shooter at a first glance. It is not. Go into it with a similar mindset to MechWarrior, you'll probably have a good time. Good lore, lots of fun vehicle and mech choices.
10/10 mech/warcrime sim.
short : excellent game, beautiful design and music
fun and satisfying to play
Totally fantastic retro mech shoot em up with great graphics and sound. Cannot recommend this one enough!!
It's a fun twin-stick shooter with the ability to fight using mechs, tanks and anti-grav vehicles. Freelance mode in particular is a fun way to play the game in short bursts, as it consists of sets of minicampaigns that you complete by chosing any configuration you want.
I just wish there was a random map generator - as, while the game tries to vary maps using the map pool/time of day/enemy lists, there's a finite number of maps available and replaying each freelance operation will get repetitive after a while.
fun game
Seems great, but way to play isn't that creative as expected, vehicles only differ in numeric stat, pilots only influence difficulties, weapons and special equipments are only major variety of game play, visual effects are good with high quality, it's still fun though it doesn't worth its full price.
really cool
Video game equivalent of popping bubble-wrap, only with war crimes.
It's a great game
Anarchy with gun totting hard metal.
Japan needs to make a mech anime out of this game.
