I wanted to like this game but it's just too frustrating at times.
The game gives a warning in the beginning that it is "difficult". A lot of the game is really easy, so if it tries to be a difficult game, it failed.
The frustrating parts are where the game just feels clunky, has obstacles with poor timing, or just weird and frustrating design.
I've beat god damn getting over it several times, so I can take some frustration. This game I've quit. To me it has strong "never been playtested" vibes.

Do not recommend.

Best 2D plataformer i've played in a while, it's fresh, engaging and challenging.

I really loved the hammer throwing mechanic, it's super fun to play with and it's used to solve puzzles in many creative ways. It has solid controls, the movement feels good, it's almost perfect gameplaywise.

The presentation is also amazing, with some great looking pixel art/animation and a catchy, memorable soundtrack.

The only thing that keeps me from absolutely adoring this game is how exhausting it becomes, the levels are a bit too long for my taste and as the game goes on it becomes harder and harder and more demanding. Around the last few levels i was starting to get really tired halfway through the stage and wanted to take a break but they kept going forever. The lack of visual variety doesn't help, while the game looks good there's only like 3 backgrounds, a forest, a cave, and an ice fortress, spending 30 minutes in a level trapped in a cave only for the next level to be like 20-30 more minutes of the same cave background drove me insane.

Starting Level 19 i think i was beating like 1 level or 2 per day and stopped caring about the collectables and secret levels, i just wanted to be done with the game and there was no way i would replay them for the things i missed before.

Aside from Level 25 i didn't dislike any of the levels and i think they're well designed (lv26 was my favorite), full of creative/fun solutions for the puzzles and good plataforming. Even if i found them exhausting i'd take levels like this over the usual uninspired, basic and dull level design i find in many other plataformers.
The bosses were really well done and very fun to fight, i liked all of them and were my favorite part of the game.

I recommend it to anyone that loves a good and challenging 2D plataformer, if you're more of a casual player i think you should skip it because it gets VERY demanding. There's an assist mode to activate "legal cheats" like immortality, but i don't see the point in playing a game like that when you could simply play a game that's designed with you in mind.

Although there are plenty of cool stuff, it ends up sacrificing fun for the sake of being difficult. On the first world I felt I wasn't enjoying anymore, just getting frustrated, and decided to gave up.

Very fun and simple, straigthforward platformer. It's linear, focuses entirely on platforming mechanics and puzzles. You unlock a few skills and movements along, and subsequent levels explore how these can be used to navigate harder challanges.

I think it's biggest strength is it doesn't get boring. Most puzzles require some thinking on how to use your toolkit to solve them, and executing the plan is almost secondary. Figuring things out is very rewarding. The game keeps things fresh by rarely reusing the puzzles, so all the time you encounter new challenges.
I also quite liked that it's simple -- doesn't really have quests, progressions, navigation, backtracking. It makes it easy to pick up for 20 minuts, progress a bit and not worry about having to remember what you're supposed to do next time you want to play.
The art is beautiful, characters are charming, the story is simple and story segments are short, so they don't break the flow of the game.

It does have some weak points too. Some mechanics are a little bit finicky, difficult to get right, for me i.e. wall jumping, or timing of dash-jump. Once you master them it's fine though.
Another problem for me was difficulty of challenge levels. They are IMO well designed, but you have to get them in a single try -- usually any mistake means restart, so it gets tedious. I get it's supposed to be a challenge, but it's frustrating. It could be improved by having practice mode for challenges, where you can restart at any point to practice most difficult sections before attempting everything in one go. Another minor nitpick is completing a challenge isn't very rewarding, you don't get anything in-game from that, even completions screen is the same as with regular levels. Having a leaderboard, maybe some cosmetics or custom cutscene would make it more rewarding. I still had fun though, up to challange VII or so.
They're optional though, so overall it's not a big deal.

Overall if you like platformers focused on mechanics and interesting platforming puzzles, I highly recommend Tiny Thor.

There's a lot of really creative platforming and puzzle solving in this game. The mechanic of throwing the Hammer is very clever, and I constantly had to think about the best way to defeat enemies, activate switches, and collect items. The game has a ton of clever challenges, whether they be precision platforming gauntlets or small puzzle rooms. The bee themed levels that end the first portion of the game are going to stick with me for being incredibly fantastic and creative.

I really enjoyed the first 75% of this game but the last 25% just ended up being incredibly tedious with far too many cheap deaths.

I thoroughly enjoyed the good parts as the game was mainly platforming with a little bit of action sprinkled in. It had nicely placed checkpoints and the secrets were fun and the right level of difficulty in finding them.

That last 25% just has far to many long stretches of trial and error without checkpoints which makes it extremely tedious to replay over and over and over again. The challenge level is far to high for an average or even good player. I felt like the last 5 levels were on the extreme side where it wasn't fun and just a pain in the butt. At this point the game went from fun to extremely annoying and I didn't even want to continue on.

The 2nd last level where a shadow version of you follows you is one of the worst levels I've ever played. If you die mid level and resume from a check point the shadow is literally on your tail the whole time and at that point I gave up and enabled god mode because it was impossible. I couldn't even beat the final boss of the game with god mode on because it was just too clunky and cheap and I lost full interest in playing.

Overall a game that mostly is a lot of fun, the last part was a major disappointment and felt like I was doing kaizoo levels for Mario Maker rather then utilizing all the moves and techniques learned and used in the first 75% of the game.

Tiny Thor is an enjoyable, though not particularly amazing, platformer. Though the good outweighs the bad, this is not a game without some issues.

To begin with, the art and music are both great and work well alongside the lighthearted tone and often fast-paced action platforming of the game. Unfortunately, the high quality is undercut by just how little variety there is. This is especially true of the third region since, while it has about as many levels as the previous two regions, its levels tend to be much, much longer and by the end I was well and truly tired of listening to the same music alongside the same icy mountains and frozen temples.

Platforming generally feels good and Thor has a versatile moveset which allows for some complicated maneuvers. Between walljumping, a double jump, and an air dash, Thor can cover a lot of distance before touching the ground and the later parts of the game will often require you to string these skills together in one way or another while under pressure from enemies or environmental hazards. Thor sometimes spends so much time without touching the ground that it can become easy to lose track of if you still have a jump and/or a dash remaining so it would have been nice to have a visual or auditory cue tied to those, but I otherwise have no issues with the standard platforming in this game.

However, one thing I certainly have a few problems with in Tiny Thor is the hammer. The hammer rarely feels good to use, which is a rather large problem when it's one of the game's defining features. Thor is able to aim his hammer before throwing it and the hammer will bounce off of not just physical walls, but also the edge of the screen itself. Many of the more puzzle-focused challenges in the game require you to bounce the hammer at a certain angle or to trap the hammer somehow to make it rapidly bounce in a smaller area. Aiming the hammer can feel finicky, especially if you're on moving or breaking platforms, and this is compounded by the hammer's hitbox being smaller than its sprite implies - even by the end of the game I frequently missed hitting various objects by a handful of pixels.

Bouncing the hammer off of the screen itself sounds like an interesting idea, but it mostly ends up feeling weird and needing to make use of the screen's edge rather than static environmental objects often left me wondering if I had actually figured out the intended solution to the various puzzle-platforming challenges or if I had found a significantly more awkward solution the developers didn't plan for.

The last issue with the hammer is you'll often want to set it to bounce in a straight vertical or horizontal line, but Thor will immediately catch the hammer if he touches it (often resulting in death for one reason or another), which means you often need to awkwardly make sure you have enough space to throw the hammer and then get completely out of its way before it rebounds. Pressing the hammer button while the hammer is out will make the hammer zoom back to Thor, so making Thor automatically catch the hammer on touch feels completely unnecessary and only gets in the way.

There are a few other oddities worth noting as well. For example, blue gems are Tiny Thor's version of currency and, like coins in most platformers, strings of gems are often used to guide the player along platforming paths, especially when the destination is not initially visible. However, gems collected in a run of a level remain gone after dying and respawning, depriving the player of a useful visual indicator, which is an especially odd choice since ghost versions of the gems *do* appear if you replay a level. Tiny Thor has some issues with its visual language too, such as the hitbox on horizontal bounce mushrooms being much smaller than the whole mushroom, the ice covered walls (which you can't jump off of) sometimes blending in a little too closely with the heavily snow-covered walls (which you can jump off of), and the fact that any enemy not covered in spikes is safe to jump on - except for the very round ghosts, which will kill you.

Even with its various issues, I think Tiny Thor's level design is quite solid overall. It presents a good challenge and the difficulty curve was pretty stable; Tiny Thor is a hard game without being overly demanding and the only frustration I ever felt was from some particularly awkward hammer-throwing moments. Checkpoints are frequent and generally felt properly distributed. There were a few moments in the later parts of the game where I died because I didn't know what to expect from a new room, but these were also consistently within ~5-10 seconds of a checkpoint and with infinite lives it hardly mattered. Most of the boss fights were also entertaining and level mechanics were generally varied (floating on wind currents got a bit old).

Tiny Thor has its share of issues and rough edges, some more severe than others, yet it often provides a solid, enjoyable platforming experience. While this certainly isn't the strongest recommendation I've given to a game, I don't regret my time playing Tiny Thor and I think it's a game worth considering for anyone looking for a challenging platformer.

Tiny Thor is a perfect precision platformer that throws combat into the mix and makes it work like a charm! Seriously, it is one of the best games I’ve ever played this year and I wasn’t expecting it to be this good! Its beautiful pixel art caught my attention in the first place and seeing the fluid gameplay in the trailer, I grabbed it the first chance I got and, boy oh, boy, if only I knew I was in for a very, very good time. It starts off with very simple stages to get you familiar with the mechanics and the difficulty gradually increases so that you don’t feel like it’s unfair in any way. Although it warns you about being a difficult game in the opening, it actually has a very sweet difficulty that seasoned platformer players will be satisfied with and the beginners will probably be able to enjoy the game with the Assist Mode. However, I can’t really give you information about the Assist Mode since I haven’t played the game with the Assist Mode activated, but I’m sure it will serve its purpose for the newcomers.

It starts with our little god making his way to his birthday party and his father, Odin, gives him Mjölnir as a birthday present. He later runs off to play with his new toy, only to encounter a stranger who tricks him into doing something very bad which immediately puts him on a quest to fix the mess he caused to get things right. After navigating through carefully designed stages, solving cleverly put puzzles, and defeating the perfectly crafted bosses that have their own gimmicks, our little brave god gets a new ability after each encounter that helps him on his quest. You can also buy new abilities and unlock challenge stages with blue and red diamonds you find scattered across the stages. The soundtrack is also pretty good, and the achievements are quite fair. I personally had a lot of fun unlocking them. I also hardly needed to check any guides to find blue and red diamonds in stages and it shows how fair and accessible this game is to every kind of player out there.

TL;DR

A perfect precision platformer that is mixed with combat. It has tight controls, fair, but tough difficulty, perfectly designed stages, puzzles, and bosses. If you’re into precision platformers, Tiny Thor will be one hell of an experience for you!

I only narrowly recommend this one.

I got most of the way through the game. It is quite short, though a bit longer if you collect all of the gems to unlock all of its harder, optional stages.

I didn't love Tiny Thor. It's not an immersive, straightforward platformer like Donkey Kong Country or Mario World.

It has some precision and puzzle platformer in its blood which make the levels a bit more frustrating then I prefer. I don't outright hate precision platformers (Super Meat Boy, Aeterna Noctis <3) though I do tend to avoid puzzle platformers for the most part. Every now and then you'll hit a section in a level where you might need to spend a few minutes just figuring out how to progress and then die a few times trying to execute the plan near-perfectly.

Tiny Thor also doesn't have much diversity in biomes/areas which makes it easy not to get immersed or care about the world you are advancing in on the map screen. The music was.. "fine" but didn't hook me in either.

Tiny Thor isn't bad, in fact some things like the way the throwing hammer is used to solve problems can be quite creative, but ultimately I found the experience to be lackluster and unexceptional.
